So, how is this idea compared to my other attempts at vampire roleplays?
I like it! [Thank you very much; I'm happy to hear that~]
Meh. Mediocre, as always. [To each their own.]
This idea is bad and you should feel bad! [I choose to feel jubilated instead.]

Marie smiled, but shook her head, "I probably shouldn't. I'm already in danger of having to nurse a hangover in the morning. Let's not make it worse shall we?" Marie took a sip of what remained of her wine, savoring the taste of it while it slid down her tongue. "Pity though. I don't believe I've ever had such a good wine before."

((Bah...running out of ideas. >.< Darn wall I've rp backed myself into. >.< ))

{So...should we have Neil and Anya attempt to feed on Marie? Or try to schedule another appointment to see if they could win her over and offer her the chance to be a multiple-use blood dispenser Host?}

((Tis up to yourselves. If you think Marie is clan potential (even if it is just as food) then feel free to scheduled another appointment. If not...feed away. razz Though....I just remembered something that could lead to a second appointment. biggrin So your reply will be your decision I guess. ^.^ ))

After Marie took another sip of wine, her eyes suddenly lit up as if she remembered something impotent. Of course! The very reason she had been excited to go have drinks with them in the first place. "I have a confession to make. I had my own motives for coming to have drinks with you." She admitted with a bit of a giggle. "After I saw the two of you dancing...I was hoping that perhaps...you both would let me paint you?" Marie asked, trying not to seem too attached to the idea just in case they declined. However, the passion for her painting was clear enough in her eyes. She could already see the painting in her mind, she just needed models to make it perfect. "Whenever it is most convenient for you of course.

"Of course." Neil smiled. "Of course, there's something you must do for us. We'll discuss the terms later. Perhaps tomorrow night, at this club?"

Marie couldn't help but smile. "Thank you so much." She replied gratefully."And of course. How does around the same time sound? Or would you rather an earlier or later meeting?" Marie asking, wanting to be at their convenience. They were doing her a great favor after all. "Though may I ask...what did you have in mind for me to do for you?" Marie asked curiously. She was half preying in her mind that it was nothing financial they had in mind. After all she was only a student and could never afford to pay her models. In kind perhaps, but not a monetary sum.
While awaiting for her answer, Marie went over the painting in her mind again. She could already see it, it just needed to be brought to canvas. And with them...it would be perfect.

"Oh, it's nothing too serious. Let's just say that we'd like to commission you for something... else." Neil unlocked the door. "The same time tomorrow night, then."

Only the insane have strength to prosper...

Mahlah

It was an odd sight to say the least, waking down the street as the darkness nestled into the valley below was an androgynous form dressed with long coat-tails, a ruffly blouse, top hat, cape and cane. It looked more akin to something in one of those old romance novels or movies given form that what was appropriate for this day and age. Under the top hat was a beautifully androgynous face to go with the slender frame that gave hints of a woman as it walked, yet also expressed the males gender within the length of its strides. Along the pavement the end of the cane gave hollow taps along the ground as it moved in pace with the elegant feet clad in heeled boots that were spiriting the oddity along the ground. Most people would give a passing glance to what they would concider a pretty gender blender, but underneath that mask was a deranged monster. Mahlah was something of a ticking timebomb within the Cavasira clan, it was too dangerous to let out, but keeping it within its own fold could be concidered a risk to the safety and secrecy of the group. Normally it probably would have been killed on sight, though there was little doubt that it held something special within it. It was something of a mystery, concidering the clan, but then again that clan didn't like to kill for the sake of killing either, perhaps that was what kept it alive for so long.

As it walked down the street its lips parted sofly as it counted the steps it took by multiples of four, constantly calculating and dividing to get it ideal number, it never stopped on anything that wasn't a multiple of four, it had walked this way before, time and time and time agian, always counting, needing to have the security of the even number of steps. It approached the Vice night club where it knew that its... caretaker was located. When he got to the building he circled it four times, weaving the allyways and through the cramped spaced between the other buildings before it approached the door and, with a four fingered hand, tapped the door handle four times before entering. Most people who frequented here took little notice of the oddity that it performed, but there were still some that had quirked some eyebrows towards it. When Mahlah did get in, it took off its top hat and looked around, it put its cane under its arm and placed its velet inside its tophat before begining to walk towards the door that usually held it's other clans mates. Once more, its violet painted lips softly moving as it counted its paces, making sure that it wasn't breaking any self impossed rules that would break the chain and cause futher mental collapse, it had been warned not to lose control and frenzy in a place like this, that was the only conditions that it was given in order to stay with Mother Anya. It was ready to go home, so it arrived here where it usually did to meet up with the others to go home. Mahlah raised his cane and rapped on the door four times with the silver skull that sat ontop of it.

Marie's eyes lit up when Neil said the magic word. Commission was like music to the ears of any artist. Probably because most artists didn't become famous for their works until after they were dead (from the fact that no more of their work would be created). Take Van Gogh for example. Almost 100 years after he died, someone paid $70 something million for a painting of sunflowers. Why? Because he wasn't going to be able to make another one any time soon. Marie on the other hand didn't want to wait until she was dead for her work to be appreciated.

"Alright. Tomorrow." Marie agreed, finishing her wine and placing the glass down on the table. "Thank you very much for the wine, and the company. It was a pleasure." She said politely, moving towards the door. Just as she reached for the handle, she heard a knocking coming from the other side. As she was on her way out anyway, she opened the door, being greeted by the most peculiar looking...something...on the other side. She stepped aside for a moment, looking back towards Anya and Neil. "Someone you know?" Marie asked, curious if it was a friend, or one of the drunken bar goers that they had mentioned earlier who were fond of coming to the office.

Only the insane have strength to prosper...

Mahlah

Mahlah stepped inside with a gliding motion as it entered the room. It's eyes darted between Marie and Anya for a few moments before it reached up and rubbed the back of its neck uncomfortably for a moment before allowing it to drop back to its side. Mahlah wasn't sure if this was some sort of other Clan Vampire that could possibly spell disaster or a member of the Inquisition sent to hunt their kin. Wait... was the Inquisition still around? It couldn't recall anymore.
"N-new friend of y-yours, A-auntie Anya?" It asked, it's voice just as gender blended as the rest of it. It flexed its hand a little bit to try and remove the claminess that was starting to gather there with its anxieties of being around new faces. It was around Anya and Neil so it wasn't as put off as it might have been normally. Its eyes darted up and down across Maries figure. Still relatively close to the girl eventually falling to the thin, elegant chain around her neck. It struggled not to give into its compulsion and count the attractive, tiny mental links that made the charm. It swallowed hard, bringing up a four fingered hand to its lips and started to chew nervously at its nails. It could feel something twitched near the corner of its eyebrow, it brought the hand form its lips to brush away the twitch before it returned it to its chewing distraction. It's anxiety was starting to rise as its eyes darted towards Maries neckline again. its facial features flinched around as it struggled to not count. It looked over at Neil and Anya again. Trying to read them a little bit, they seemed fairly relaxed right now, so it assumed that it wasn't a threat, but then... why was she here?

Mahlah then suddenly lashed out with its hand towards Marie's neck, it wanted... no... it needed to count, it needed to calm its nerves with the hard feeling of the metal, the smooth and yet ridged texture of all the links and the need to make sure that it was a multiple of four, the blessed number, the safe number... the number that insured the safety of those around them. The position Marie took it would be a little harder for her to escape, not that it was going out of the way to harm her, but it needed to know, needed to count and it had to get into the position to count the links. If Marie did nothing she would find herself uncomfortable close to the androgynous figure that smelled faintly of cinnomin and some sort of fruit that blended surprisingly well together.

"Yes, she is, Mahlah. Please do try to calm down." Anya muttured softly, a little displeased that it was freaking out already. Although, to be honest, this wasn't much of a surprise. She hoped that it's peculiarities would not scare Marie off. Anya didn't want to go without ever trying out the girl's blood for herself. "Yes, miss Marie. You could say he's...a relative of mine. If he makes you uncomfortable, do let me know. I won't tolerate rudeness unless it's warranted. In this case, it most certainly isn't." Anya let out a soft sigh, gazing over at the adrogynous dhampir once more.

Marie jumped, trying to move as quickly as possible away from the strange individual when it lashed out towards her neck. Luckily she was able to escape from being trapped in the door frame, being somewhat inside the office once again, but she found the being was still oddly close to her. When she looked though, she noticed it was paying little heed to her, but rather paying the closest attention possible to the chain around her neck.

Marie's gaze went back and forth between the person eying her necklace with some sense of urgency, and Anya, while she continued to try and keep at least a little distance between her and the being named Mahlah. Judging from what Anya was saying, Marie could only guess that Mahlah was more or less harmless...just a bit strange. Marie was starting to wonder if the adrogynous person had some sort of mental disorder...or several. "Well it's just the...personal space issue..." Marie murmered softly. Not wanting to be rude...but it was a little uncomfortable to say the least to have a stranger this close to you.

Marie then looked back to Mahlah. "Um...Mahlah was it? Is there something wrong....you seem a little distressed." Marie asked. Maybe by being nice and finding out what it wanted, something could be done that it would move a little further from Marie.

Only the insane have strength to prosper...

Mahlah

Mahlah swallowed hard, being both under the gaze of the Origin of the Clan and having a threat hung over its head did nothing to calm the nerves that it was experiencing, though now for sure it knew that this girl wasn't a hunter or a rival clan member, it felt a little more relaxed, still slightly put off with having someone new in the room and not knowing how much they knew about it... but still relatively more relaxed. It's eyes still remained fixated and it continued its inner conflict with its compulsion that was refusing to be ignored. Mahlah took a deep breath and, now that it was close enough to see the links of the chain started to count. When it started, it calmed right down again. Granted, it was still fidgety but at least it wasn't at the verge of a panic attack by any means.
"Sorry Miss Mary." It replied in between its counting, trying its best to explain its odd behavior, which in itself was relatively new, most of the time it wsa either shoved out of the way or beaten for such an act. How curious that this girl was seemingly either concerned or paitent enough to try and understand why he was doing what he was out of compulsion more than anything. "I have social anxieties, counting things by four helps. I... I saw your necklace a-and was trying to count the links to make sure they were in multiples of four."
Again, Mahlah rubbed the back of its neck anxiously for a few moments before crossing its arms infront of him and continuing to try and count the links in the necklace. Its right hand came up above the crossing of its arms and one finger went up slightly. It knew that Anya hated it when Mahlah compulsed like this... but it wasn't something that it could help either, it was just something that it needed to do, it was like when someone released their troubles by exercising, only Mahlah had to do it constantly or else he would get violently agressive with its pent up energies that it wasn't being able to release.

"Oh." Marie said at first. She heard of such impulses of course. Like needing everything to be in even numbers, the inability to have anything out of place, stuff like that. Well...as she would be returning again tomorrow night, and there was a chance that she would see Mahlah again, she figured she might as well do what she could to make him/her more comfortable around her. Especially since, if Mahlah lashes out at her like that again, her reflex might just be to do something violent and she would rather not let that happen if it didn't need to.

Slowly, Marie reached up, and unhooked the fine necklace from around her neck, before handing it to Mahlah. "I was just about to leave but...here. This should make it easier to count the links. Just give it back when your done." She said kindly. Also on the plus side, if she/he had the necklace in his/her hands, then it didn't need to be so close to her to count, and he would calm down. It was a win win really.

Neil tried not to look at Mahlah. He wasn't a fan of the androgynous Dhamphir.

Only the insane have strength to prosper...

Mahlah

Mahlah wasn't sure what to make of the situation when Marie handed it the necklace. It almost looked like it had been shot unexpectedly judging by the expression on its face. It opened its palm and watched as the delicate chain was lovelying lowered into its open palm. Was it a trick? Was she just going to turn around and ask the others to get it back for her claiming that it was stolen? It wasn't aware how the mind of humans worked. After a soft and half mumbled 'Thank you' it quickly retreated into a corner of the room where it sqwatted down in the corner and started to count. Mahlah wasn't sure what to make of this, really its mind was a buzz with strange thoughts and seemingly baseless scenarios that could happen with this. In its open palm the links of the chain were being counted out four at a time, while doing so it pushed what it had counted to the other side of its palm. The smoothness of the tiny chain was welcomed, its anxiety disappearing with every additional four added to its tally. Mahlah was constantly looking over it shoulder in between counting as if to keep an eye on the others while it performed its ritual. Almost half expecting them to attack at any moment, but so far nothing came of it. Mahlah was starting to warm to this human creature. She spoke nice and gently to it, even when its compulsions struck. Not that Anya was horrible at it by any means but she did have her moment with it and it was always Mahlah who ended up on the recieving end of things. It was a nice change, not to feel threatened by something for what Mahlah felt was something that was not done in harm.
When Mahlah got to the pendant in the middle of the necklace it took its time tracing around the patterned design on it with a gentle finger. It wasn't sure what to make of it, but perhaps it was just, as the humans would say, 'simply art'. it really didn't understand what that meant, other than something was made to be enjoyed and that was that. But what was the point of creating such things if they held no purpose? It was an odd quirk of human logic that it couldn't fully wrap its head around. When at seemingly long last when it was done counting the links in the chain it was pleased with the fact that their were, in fact, enough links that multiples of four could be obtained. Thankfully it wasn't directly a multiple of five or else Mahlah would have had to do something drastic to save Marie! Slowly it pushed itself up from the corner and walked over to Marie, its hand was out to offer the chain back. While doing so, it continued to study the odd creature that didn't talk harshly to it. There was something about her that made it feel like it was needed to protect her. Compulsion perhaps? Maybe it was just a strange sense of morality to one of the few people who treated it better than an unwanted, but dangerous pet? It didn't know, but for now, it would let her do her own thing without its protection. It would surely work to return the kind favour one day though.
