So. Many. Ideas.

1. I love the pictures that are being found for castles. The only thing that I want to stress is that having a floating castle is mystical and fantasy like, yes, but I feel that we should reign in a little bit on the idea and keep it simple. We can't be too fairy-tale like for the same reason that fairy-tales isn't a theme, it's been too recent to the Fairy Tales ball. We should also ground the castle rather than having it connected to the clouds and the sky out of respect for Angel's room, the flying room. Anything that's too high up there in the sky is going to tread a bit on her theme, and I feel like we've got enough material and enough amazing thinking caps to keep it fun and real and also our own.

2. The idea I had for stair cases was that they'd be naturally formed stair cases, and wider, because I would personally like to lean in more towards the Medieval idea than the fantasy idea. There will be a lot of fantasy to be had in the dream world as it is, so it would be nice to see practical ideas as well (perhaps the castle can be more practical, and the floating aspect and how it floats can be the fantasy?)

3. This was the image I based my idea for the Isthmus on, here which also includes the two oceans. I'm now thinking, however, that we should replace one of those oceans with forest to keep it simple. However, if we're exploring the idea of crossing over with Angel's room I don't see why we can't have our own brand of old-fashioned pirates either. It's a possibility still.

In fact, everything that's been suggested is still a possibility. I'm not raining on anyone's parade (or pissing in your cheerios <3) so let's keep the ball rolling as quickly as it's been rolling all weekend!

I like that! (refers to the 3rd one) It can be the Forest of Bandits and the Castle in the Sea, off the top of my head... XD Anything goes!

Ooh.. that does remind me that I had even pictured the castle ON the sea, literally floating there, at one point... maybe it can be floating above the sea?

Maybe the castle doesn't have to be floating to high. Just a bit, like this picture http://publictest04.fedoraproject.org/artboard/_images/342a145fe177a908ba4e2c3605e2f52c/77 - castle floating,.png

I suggested that a while ago, so I'm all for it.

We could also go for a full-forest theme, with either a normal queen and elfin thieves or an elf/fairy court and normal thieves. That would simplify things quite a lot.

I'm all for elfin-queen, human bandits. Elves are sleek and gentle (mostly, or it's just how I picture it). I think that would work really well.

I actually really like the castle in/on the sea, but if preferred, full-forest is okay. How about you guys?

Of course, after we have to setting done, we need to figure out what to do about you co-hosts... XD Pirates are out of question, since we want to separate us from Angel and eran. We can do a survey to see who wants to be in court and who wants to be in the gang of bandits.

About the forest theme. I was in the Greed room last year and the whole theme was a treasure hunt in the forest with fairies. So it's almost the same setting. Can't we make the setting a bit bigger? Keep the castle in the sea. And the forest but in my opinion the forest shouldn't be the only setting. More diversity so everyone can enjoy?

Court. Definitely the court.

I like the sea castle, too, but I worry about the ease of properly defining a setting.
I really like the idea of elves at court and human thieves... though elfin thieves could be cool, too... deciding they dislike the humans or something, so they steal stuff and disappear into the forest?

Erm... my biggest contention with the multiple zones thing is setting... defining a setting with multiple sub-settings will be really hard, and make the room confusing. I'd speculate that this is likely going to be one of the more popular rooms right off the bat... if we can make sure to keep it as simple as possible. The "diversity" in the ball is generally supposed to come from different rooms, not from multiple settings in the same room.
Besides, we'd be in a ballroom anyways, or some sort of clearing, or on the beach (if we keep the sea). No matter the "setting," we're all probably going to be in a room thing to facilitate ball-i-ness, unless I'm horribly mistaken?

Anyways, I'll start wracking my brain for other ideas, to try and avoid copying Greed's room... if it was a good idea that worked, though, it's likely to be imitated... kind of like every movie is Shakespeare.

To keep things simple and because I agree with the concern of the setting and keeping it easily definable for guests, I feel like the castle should be THE setting. Thieves and forest will be a plot device for the room, much as the training room and outer space was for the Wrath room last year. Thieves can come from the forest, but they wouldn't be RPing in the forest. They'd need to find a way to come to the castle (either masquerading as servants, knights, or sneaking around.)

I'm not sold on combining Elves/Fairies with it though. Fairies was an option for one of the possible plots, but if we're not going to do a full-on Seelie/Unseelie affair then I feel like it will be too much.

Alright, so we'll just stick to human characters. After all, you've only got a limited amount of imagination! XD (That was a bad joke and a reminder that the ball theme is DREAMS)

And I agree with you, Robayn. I like the castle in the sea MUCH better. And having them sneak around will be great to enhance the whole mysterious vibe.

xD

I'm just not convinced that it'd be worth it to have all that going on, that's all. We already have the Boy King and his Court, plus the Queen with a missing magical heart, plus the thieves from an elusive, secret forest, and a floating castle on the sea, so throwing elves and fairies into it seems... a lot.

Though, there's no reason a character couldn't be an elf if he wanted to be. It is dreams, after all. I'm just saying I don't think it would be necessary to add it to the plot.

Plus Sloth did remind me about last year's Greed room, and that was another reason I decided against having Fairies/Elves in the plot when we already have a forest present.

You've clearly never heard me tell about my dreams. Fair thieves in a floating pirate castleship made of grilled cheese would ask my dreams what they're on.

Oh, we're keeping the boy king?
Wait, then why do we have a queen? I'm so confused... excited, but confused.

I personally loved the room. But,it was actually the room with the least posts so the setting or idea (a treasure hunt) must've not attracted many people. I guess the reason must've been that the plot was very simple. Just a treasure hunt for gold. This one seems more complex and interesting with the idea of the queen and thief. So it'll probably have different results.

O.O Such clever imagination... XD And by the way, what ARE your dreams on? Sandman drugs?

The queen is supposedly the Boy King's mother, if we are going with that. (The boy king is 12) And I'm glad you're confused... Makes it mysterious... XD

Well, maybe we won't have the Boy King. It depends on what we come up with for a Plot. Either I'll be the Boy King or I'll be the Prince of Thieves (since those would be the male opposites of the Queen, who Spotted is playing [last time I checked.])
