Revei had hung back, listening silently, keeping down the urge to speak, to make light of the proceedings. Here was a place and time in which levity might lead only to confusion. Likewise, the promise of power and a voice tugged briefly at him, but this was no game. He knew himself to be too flighty, too easily distracted, to deliberate upon important matters and pronounce verdict. In this, though, he would speak; though he did not and would not advance himself, he would speak now in support of the ones he wished chosen. He slipped forward to present himself.
"I wish to place my votes. Phaedra, for her arrogant will to do what should be done, for her straightforward boldness. Cosine, for her cool logic. Ashoka, for the view that she alone holds, to remind the council of itself. Endiovar, because all councils must sometimes be silenced. And Glyph, for that which he represents." He bowed and retreated, wings shifting and refolding fussily. To think and choose with logic alone irritated him, made him restless, but bias in this time and place would do no good.

"Lord Endiovar....", the change was subtle, the faintest of extra lines like smiles at the edges of his eyes. "So the dice are cast."
" Phaedra, you have the support of 14. The Mortal Seer, Ashoka has twelve that will speak for her, Throne of the Underworld...Nergal is supported by 11. The final two supported the same, by eight voices, The Worldshield and Forest, Tian Yue and Glyph. "
"Stand forward when comes back the Twin Crown. His last act will be mark you each with a token of station. A gift. You are the council. You are our Guidance. You will be survival. You will have access to the servants of the Crown, and those powers imbued in each of us from our Emperor."
"My congratulations and gratitude. My condolences and hopes to you. "

Ashoka had waited for the verdict with no small amount of impatience, trying to keep track of how many votes she had - and how many everyone else had. She couldn't simply know the outcome - there were too many variables, too many gods, too many potential results, some with her and some without. But as votes were spoken and she ran out of fingers to keep track of her votes with (not that she couldn't count in her head, she just didn't want to lose count) and had to wiggle her big toes as well, it became clear that she was to be part of the council. And she didn't even get to vote for herself, like some of the gods did! She still had more than everyone but Greed (how funny that she had the most!).
This was immensely pleasing to the pardess, who bounced on the balls of her feet and flashed a smile at Xia Lu Ling. She was doing well, wasn't she? Slightly juvenile display of enthusiasm aside, anyway, but she couldn't help it, nor was she concerned about it. She was excited to be on the council, because she wanted to be on it, to help, and it was actually going to happen. Not that it wouldn't be hard or she wasn't taking it seriously, she just happened to have an abundance of mannerisms that could make it seem otherwise.
'Shoka indulged in a little wiggle-dance in place before accepting the appointment with a faint giggle and a simple, "Thank you~! I'll do my best, I promise."
Not that she'd never play with her toes during meetings.

Glyph had been listening with curiousity as the votes were cast, noting that nearly every deity that lifted their voice did so in support of Phaedra - a scary thought. Ears erect and flicking about as the group spoke, Forest looked around the room as some supported him as well. It pleased him immensely that they had faith in him.
Then the voting was over and the Aoide was speaking again, drawing Glyph's attention back to him in the hush. Nodding as the totals were announced, he knew first three named were much wanted on the Council. And then Tian Yue was named, of course.... and then himself. He must have miscounted the votes, he thought another had a higher tally.
Breaking out in a grin the god bounced on the balls of his feet once in an expression of joy. The importance of the station would strike him later, he knew. He dipped a bow and, with eyes bright, simply said, "Thank-you."

She had won. Greed smiled brilliantly, bobbing a simple curtsey to those gathered. "Thank you for your... trust, my fellow ladies and lords divine. You shall not regret it, I assure you." And oh, how funny that more were wiling to speak for the crazed cat-thing than for any other god... ahhh, the thought sent a surge of ecstasy through her. Power, and the winning of it, was assuredly better than any of the other temptations Greed might purvey or enjoy.
For his part, Tian Yue nodded to the others. "I shall serve in my best capacity. My scales shall not break; we will protect the divine and mortal alike." If need be, he would lay down his life before the Grigori to bring them low... as Shaiming had before a different kind of Unbelief, Age upon Age ago. My bones, my shield.

Nergal merely inclined his head in quiet acceptance. “So be it.”
That Greed had garnered most of the votes, did not surprise him, neither that many had placed their trust into him, despite his only tentative offer to stand up for council. That the mortal Seer, however, would rank second, did come as a surprise, and it was one that rankled. She was so … immature in her behavior.
As was Glyph, to some degree. But the young god’s obvious enthusiasm brought the hint of a smile to his dark lips. However, it was tinged by bitterness and – to some degree – by regret. Phaedra was still reveling in glee, and so far it seemed only Tian Yue was aware of the grave consequences of the station they’d offered themselves up for. Nergal did regret having placed his vote for him now, wishing he’d had more time to think his choice through. Protector of so many, and council member, the weight of that responsibility ...

There was an echo of old words that filtered down. The words went out like fast moving clouds, tumbling and hurtling over the skies, chased by unseen breathe of utterance. The new stars were anchored, the new sky complete. It did not sing with whispers, with life and heartbeat of its own as it once had, but it was there. The spans of what Existed was Whole. Creation lifted the reins, turning the bridle slightly. Down, it said. His voice was too spent to issue small commands. There were words that would come as they landed, words that he needed to be able to say. His influence leaked out around him, wild, re-forming banners of spectral hair long in the wind of the Fangbridle’s passage. The dragon’s own fur became long and littered with new pixies, off-imagined critters and an errant spectral floox. The mouth of Destruction lifted his eyes, raising voice to signal to the many, "Forth! The Twin Crown Returns! "
“Peace Lord, here stands the council waiting, bated breath and proud. Their number is five, and five the sigils needed. Ruthless Desire, the Overseer of Souls , the Silvim Illustirre, Worldshield, and the Sighted Ashoka shall guide as you rest. . . .
The dragon’s feet touched the grass, and magic spilled over the ground, growing vines and flowers outward, tens of mirrors of Fibonacci growth. Creation slid down from the saddle, and the growth following his footsteps, leaving the dragon be. “You have my thanks, council.”The voice was raw, but pleased. Cheerful. He lifted his hands and before each appeared a jewel like a star, “Fashion as you like: a brooch, a pendant, a torc upon your arm, a belted gem….these are station of your office. Councillors…these will act as keys, even should your own power be exhausted…they will bring you here to the pantheon with a thought. If ever a killing blow were to come to you from one of the grigori, these will take it in your stead, though break in the sacrifice. ”Creation faltered, swaying as one might who was bereft of rest for days. “ Xia Lu Ling -”

At the first flicker of mana across the heavens, Tian Yue looked up - and so he saw Sky and Star spring into being once more. The Dragon King lifted his head and roared into that infinity, knowing logically that there would be no answer, yet incapable of silence even so. Later, if duty permitted, he would soar up beyond the stratosphere and taste this new expanse. His followers, star-travelers as they were, were doubtlessly making plans even now. He thought he could pick out Penny and Jax's voices in the cheer that went up from the mortal throng.
For now... Duty. He held his shields firm, the mana of the Crown's return lapping against them - cool water to his scales, yet perhaps more dangerous to mortal-kind. It was hard to say. "We shall heal, guard, and sally forth in Your name, most beloved Lord," the Dragon King rumbled, ducking his head. He was still in dragon-form; the precious sigil tumbled into one outstretched forepaw, shining so small and bright.
His Lord's exhaustion brought flickers of worry, made his fur ripple down his back, yet this was what his brother the Pillar was for, even as Zhijian had fulfilled his created duty. Together the Kings filled nearly every need the Crown might possess. "Do not hesitate to call on me, brother, if there is need," he said to Xia Lu Ling, meeting the other dragon's gaze for a moment.
Then he shifted his attention to Zhijian. How had his closest brother fared above, so close in service to their Lord? A faint trickle of draconic envy slid through Tian Yue's heart, and he chuckled. Foolish, to be jealous, even lightly so, yet there it was.

Phaedra's eye widened slightly as the sky leapt into existence once more - as true a being as it could have in this day and age, she supposed. It was vibrant and shining enough for her, and she could feel the glad hunger of the mortals all around. They'd waited long for this day... but there was another danger here. It was audible in their relief, and usually something she welcomed... but not when it came to the Grigori or to this new power she'd set her claws into.
Complacency.
The overwhelming reminder of their need for the divine had been healed, and while some would remember, many would be tempted to forget. Her eyes narrowed, yet as the Twin Crown returned she fell to one knee and bowed to that alabaster form with the rest, though in her heart she saved her truest obeisance only for Destruction. "Welcome back, Lord Creation," she murmured, raising her head to meet His gaze for a moment. If he was surprised about her appointment, there seemed no sign, nor did she see a flicker of her true Emperor's darkness in His weary visage.
Phaedra reached her hands out and cupped the shining symbol of her newly-won power when it appeared, her heart leaping; her eyes narrowed again, this time to contented slits. No Grigori b***h would get near to her to shatter it - this was hers, this splendid jewel and the position it represented, and she would not lose either of them to those foul beings outside of Creation and Destruction both. For all that they claimed to serve her Emperor, it was a false and despicable fashion that she would not tolerate.
"I shall bear it with... guile," she said, with a catlike grin. She could claim no vaunted honor, after all, but she would leave such things to Underworld and Worldshield.

Illumin closed his eyes as the skies awoke above them, inasmuch as a dead thing could awake. The shining lights did little to dispel his morbid mood, though it did cause the moths around him to spiral up in momentary joy before settling against his skin and clothing once more. He could feel the glow of the stars above as well, feather-light and as soft as the brushes of the moths' wings. The fruit of his hard labors, his blistered skin and exhausted bones. His penance, laid bare across All for All to see, though hardly any knew the true meaning of what they looked at.
"Radiance..." Eibhilin said, hesitantly. The banshee Aoide had stood sentinel by his side this entire time; this was the first word she had spoken in what seemed like days.
He felt the touch of her fingers as well, and opened his eyes at last. Something in him could not help but feel delight at the sky returned to glory - there was Light there now, after all, gleaming and welcoming, and the mortal cries were partially out of joy in his sphere. Their belief was a hundred thousand rekindled flames. Yet the lion's share of it was - should have been - destined for Universe, who was no longer in existence to receive it. Light's share was a pale reflection, and the memory a sharp reminder of why this repair had been needed.
Eliam...
Illumin shook his head and drew his cloak around himself more tightly before turning to Eibhilin. "It is done. Let us depart - my people will have need of me."
The dull ache in his voice made Eibhilin's stomach twist, but she bowed her head obediently. "As you say, Radiance." Any hope that this evening would bring closure and healing were gone.

The twinkle and flicker of something foreign caught his gaze as the murmurs of the vote's results rolled back through the crowds and he looked up, wondering what caught his attention. Above the stars rolled out and stretched across the sky, bringing forth a night when there had been none in a long time. It was an alien image for Forest - he'd taken his host's eyes for himself after the Ritual and had viewed the world in lines of power prior to that, what seemed like ages now, and he smiled brightly. Those were stars? Distant and beautiful, little gems in an expanse of darkness so very different from Nothingness. He turned in wonder as his gaze played over the number of lights now dancing in the sky and he couldn't help but feel a surge of pride - he'd had a hand in that sky, gathering glass to aid in the restoration of the sky, little homes for the lights that now twinkled. Sure, it wasn't as... vibrant as he had imagined - it lacked the pulse of life - but there was sky and there would be moon... and Sun.
Sun! Forest's smile broadened further at that - it would be good to feel the sun on his skin and leaves once more. The woods all over would respond better now that magic alone would not be supporting them - they could grow fast and well and true now.
Glyph jumped a little as the spider Aoide called their attention to Creation's return and he shifted a little, turning about so his back wasn't to the Twin Crown, feeling mildly embarrassed. As they were introduced, he stood a little taller, gaze lifting to meet the Twin Crown's as he smiled a greeting. The growth spread out, a riot of life, and Glyph wiggled his toes in the fresh growth, pleased by the feeling of grass and flowers and soil beneath his feet.
Then the gem appeared before him and he blinked at it, reaching for the treasure as it was explained. Long fingers curled around the object, drawing it close, and he nodded, grateful for the protection it offered and for the ease of return it granted the far-wandering God. It meant he could travel still, father possibly, and return at a moment's thought rather then plan for a journey of days or weeks. "Thank-you Harmodius..." He offered another smile that faltered as the Twin Crown swayed, the evidence of his exhaustion obvious now that the duty was finished. Concern flashed through him and he stepped forward as he looked for the Dragon God Harmodius had called for.
In the crowd, his Aoide cheered him and the two youths he'd brought along from his last trip abroad came dashing out, with wide eyes and broad grins to reach for his hands as they offered their congratulations - Damien's skepticism was fully banished now, Glyph could tell, and was glad for it. The young man could take his stories and his knowledge to others of his kind - likewise with the wild Rush who even now had snarled hair and dirt-smudged clothing from her trips around the Pantheon.

Xedre announced Creation's return, but he need not have done so - Xia Lu Ling felt his Lord's return before his eyes even caught sight of scale, of bridle and of the Twin Crown. He watched proudly as Creation gifted the new council members a show of their new office and explained the power behind them; he was especially pleased that Ashoka had been granted into that newly born ruling crowd. The others were quite well in their own ways and he would watch them, watch over them as well...just to be certain. "Welcome home, Brother Zhijian, Lord Harmodius!" Yu was all but dancing with excitement at having both returned to him; the new sky beautiful over head but without breath of life save what had recently been given unto it.
The multi-eyed Dragon King's fur twitched and shuddered as Creation faltered; his big body sliding rapidly into place at the Crown's side, steadfast and sure in his duty - this was needed, his support was needed - and so he gave himself over to it, keeping the Eldest steady on his feet before those gathered. "Lord Creation, the Council has orders and token of office...." Nightmare countenance twisted into an approximation of concern - his face was not meant for such gentle emotions - his coils supporting Harmodius' paler-than-usual skin with scale and mana alike. "Let us be off to rest, Lord."
Yu gave his brother, Tian Yue, a look and dip of head in thanks; an offer of aid should he need it was appreciated whether one needed it immediately or not, but the bulk of his attention was on Creation. Even as Creation was his master, his everything-beyond-all-things, the bestial Dragon King wasn't above insisting that He rest now. He wouldn't just stomp off with Creation wrapped up in his scale-and-fur coils, but he'd definitely think about doing it while verbally insisting they go. He quietly rumbled one final question to Creation, "Will you be wanting Aris or Silence to attend you as well. my Lord?"

The moment the tapestry of the new ‘sky’ rolled out in all its brilliance, the gaze in Nergal’s eyes dulled with pain. He had looked forward to witness this moment, but now …
Look at what fancy burial shroud has been fashioned for you. Quite abruptly, the sense of loss was there again – profound and so unexpected in its strength he suspected his daughter must be nearby. He’d thought that he’d had more than enough time to become accustomed to the loss – after all, Lucius had been neither son nor lover to him. Even to refer to him as much as a ‘friend’ would probably have been … to much. He sighed.
The mortals rejoiced, of course, but the Lord of the Dead felt very little inclination to join their cheers. Instead, he was filled with a lingering sense of dread.
He deliberately sidestepped the abundant growth of greenery in the wake of Creation’s return, albeit trying to not be too obvious in his doing so, and quietly bowed upon receiving the signet. “May there be no need to make use of its powers,” he eventually said, turning the star-shaped crystal over in the deathly pale palm of his hand and resisting the urge to let it ‘roll’ across the back of his fingers like his host had frequently done with ancient coins. He still did not recall what had become of the remnants of her soul in the end, but some knowledge of her ‘tricks’ it seemed, had stayed with him, annoyingly so. “My thanks for the trust placed in my abilities. I shall not disappoint.”

When Xedre spoke to name those newly elected, Endiovar's ears drooped slightly, but he did not mourn long; those elected had great things to offer and each was a sound choice. Indeed, many were called as friends in Silence's house and some could nearly be named family. He was not displeased in the choices though he would have wanted to be an active participant in the rulings...but then, nothing said that he was unwelcome to join the others in their discussions and debates.
"Congratulations, my friends."
Creation returned shortly after Xedre's announcement; triumphant but clearly exhausted. Harmodius called for Xia Lu Ling and the Dragon was at the Eldest God's side almost before one could blink; supporting him and calling for their departure. The beast questioned if his attentions were desired by his Lord and Silence stepped forward to help without awaiting an answer. 'I shall come with you and see that Harmodius is resting peacefully.' Before he even thought of leaving Him alone to the ministrations of Yu the Five Claws.
