Laci blushed for what had to be the twentieth time that night. "Thank you, your highness." Not that she believed him all the way. She had seen some dolled up girls at his party, ones bred to catch a wealthy man's eye.
"I think he maybe putting his heart into this one." Avarossa said watching the couple ahead. "He really seems to like her, though I am sure it is mostly because she likes the ocean. If that turned out to be an act, well I don't think he would take it well."

Paha balanced the little girl on his hip with one hand, a talent he had perfected, and reached into a small pouch he had tied to his side. "Here try one. My wife makes these sweets for our young ones." Paha popped a candy in his own mouth.

As they neared the palace, Nihl had mustered up enough of his working courage to mention them as a unit, "So," he began slowly, but he certainly wasn't ready to look at her yet, "I'd love to spend more time with you, only," he paused, "with fewer spectators. Do you think, perhaps, we could set another date aside for that?"
"If it turned out to be an act maybe he'd grow a pair and have her exiled or something, but I don't think I can from a proper opinion about her without-" he stopped and his head jerked back as if something heavy had just collided with it, when in fact nothing had. Though he quickly snapped out of it. This was all normal for a seer, though, so he shook it off. Once he did, he smiled, "Actually, want to place bets?"

"Otay." Afsana simply opened her mouth, making no effort to take the candy. She was already used to being treated like royalty.

Laci's blush never got a chance to leave her face. "I would," She giggled, and didn't know why. "I would love that." Slowly she turned up to look at her companion. "Um, well." She took a large steadying breath "Is there any possibility of seeing you again tomorrow?" She asked softly, not wanting to seem to eager.
Avarossa gave her husband a odd look. She knew what that meant. "No actually I don't. I just want to hear the details." She said smiling.

Paha chuckled and popped the candy into the child's mouth. "Yummy hum? My wife is a great cook."

"Sounds fantastic." Nihl smiled and leaned over to give the woman a quick kiss on the cheek. "We'll probably have to clear it with your father of course."
Grigori pretended to contemplate it for a second. "Unfortunately for you, I'm a bettin' man. How about we gamble over, hm, say, I don't know honey, what would you like to put on the table?"

Again Laci giggled. "Then we should go ask him!" She said and began to walk a little quicker to the palace.
As soon as they stepped foot inside all eyes seemed to be on them. But nothing could ruin Laci's good mood down. Glancing around she found her father, the same time her father found them. "Father." The girl said still smiling "Would it be possible to come again tomorrow?"
Her father faked a concerned look, as if he really cared about his daughter being in a male's company for so long. "Is that exceptionable sir?"
Avarossa sighed. "I will bet a week of 'what ever you want favors' but what are you willing to bet?" She asked still not liking she just couldn't hear what her husband had obviously seen.

Paha untied the small pouch from his hip that held the candies. "Here you go sweetheart." He said dropping it into the little girl's hands. "We will share them."

"Of course, sir. I would be delighted to spend another day with your daughter." Nihl smiled and nodded a head respectfully at the man, "I very much enjoy her company."
"I like that." Grigori smiled, "How about I'm willing to, if I'm wrong, give Afsana the sex talk when she's old enough." He nodded. He knew his wife would be okay with that.

Afsana smiled brightly and shoved all of the candies into her mouth at the same time.

"Well then I have no complaints." The man said with a large grin, pleased the king was taking such a liking to his daughter.
Laci made a happy little noise, close to a squeal before she got control of her emotions. "Thank you father." Laci turned back to beam at Nihl. "So?"
"Oh that is perfect. Though since you are betting that I know I am likely to lose."

"Or you can just have them all." Paha laughed at the little girl. Not that it mattered, they were made out of all sorts of healthy snacks, and didn't have a drop of sugar in them.

Nihl smiled, "Any time you're okay with, I'm okay. You can come over whenever you like, chances are they'll have me awake doing something mundane and kingly." He shrugged,
"Well, place your bets, baby." Grigori smiled, he looked past her to where the king seemed to be chatting with the woman and her father.

Afsana couldn't open her mouth without any of the candy falling out, but she nodded anyhow, still clinging to the man.

"Well I'll have to do my morning chores." Laci said frowning.
"Non sense!" Her father interpreted. "You can miss one day. No one in our house will mind."
Laci looked back to Nihl excited once more. "So I can in the morning?"
Avarossa smiled. "I bet he will have proposed to her by next week." She said following the line of view her husband was on.
Paha walked the two of them back into the palace. "Ah there are your parents!" He said walking up to the two. "So your daughter has made a new friend."

Nihl smiled brightly, "Brilliant. I'm already looking forward to your company again, Darling." He lifted her hand to kiss it gently before he bowed his head, "Now, If you'll excuse me, I have to find my brother, he seems to have disappeared."
"Is that all?" Grigori raised a brow. He had expected for her to go into more details. Of course that's when Paha showed up with their daughter. And she had a mouthful. That didn't look to good, "A friend you say? Child. What's in your mouth?"
Afsana opened it to reply to her father, but when she did a few pieces of candy fell out, "Canny!"

Laci watched as the king left. Her father putting a hand on her shoulder, saying they were going to leave for the night. He was worried she would meet someone else and like him as well. She could do no better then the king and he wasn't will to risk another chance meeting.
Paha laughed. "I gave it to her. My wife makes them. Made from nothing more then berries and honey. She just seems to have taken a liken to them."
Avarossa sighed. "I thought your Genral would still have her."
"Nope. I took your adorable little child to show her Nihl's gift." Paha explained. "witch might actually be safer to give to him tomorrow."

The next morning, Nihl was up with the sun, but not by his choice. Grigori had gotten him up to groom him and to be sure he knew how to properly behave for the lady coming over later. He groaned, "I can do whatever I want, and right now I want to sleep."
"I'd advise against that. And good kings listen to their advisors."
"Good advisors don't wake up their kings." Nihl pouted, trying to get back to bed. His efforts were futile however, as he was soon sitting in his throne room instead of sleeping in his bed.

Like her father, Afsana was up early, but that was because she hardly slept at all as a child. She had run into her parents' room however, and was jumping on the bed trying to wake her mother, "Get up mommy! Get up!"

Now when Laci had said morning. She had meant later on in the morning. But soon as the sun arose, her mother was in her room waking her, making her get up. Laci was half asleep still when her mother dropped her into a wash tub and began scrubbing at her. Still trying to get the salt water off.
For at least two hours her mother darted about grooming her to be picture perfect. Soon as she told her father they were done, she was tossed into a carriage and sent right to the palace. It was a long enough drive she was able to get a little shut on the way. Once at the palace she was quickly escorted into the thrown room to meet with the king. "Good morning your majesty." Laci said curtsying.

Avarosssa rolled over, to see her husband was already out of bed. Damn. "I'm awake sweetie." Slowly she sat up "What in the world is your father doing?" She slid her legs off the side of the bed and snagged her daughter. "Come her you! Give me a good morning hug!"

Nihl smiled when the young woman entered the throne room, and ignore Grigori's low warning about looking too eager, "Good morning Lady Laci." He stepped down from the platform to take up the woman's hand and kiss it gently, "How are you this morning?"
Grigori was luckier than most people. He could roll his eyes without anyone around him knowing. So he did.

Afsana let out a high-pitched shriek before she giggled when her mother grabbed her, "Daddy's wif uncle Nihl!" She squirmed, "Lemme go lemme go!" She managed to get away as she sat on the bed facing her mother, "Mommy, is uncle Nihl gonna have a baby?"

Laci couldn't help but smile at the man before her. "Wonderful your highness." She said pushing a stand of hair back from her face, her mother had braided some of it back to draw attention to her face, but a strand or two had already escaped. "How are you?"
