Rum_Soaked_Werewolf ok.....i'm looking for a good quality bass 5-string $150 and lower and thoughts? You won't find a good quality 5 string for less than $150, unless you get lucky and find one second hand.

Hmmm...depending on how much you're willing to spend and what sound you want, you might want to look at the Fender Bassman series. Or check out Behringer's stuff. Behringer's fairly sturdy equipment and have a decent sound to them.

Tell us wattage your after, price range and we can narrow it down.

Darkplace_Assistant would this be a good bass buy,the reviews were good but i need to know if i should really get it. well, it's a looker, that's for sure. but as for practicality... i'm not so sure. the neck seems a bit short, but if you don't play high solos or riffs then that won't matter. i wouldn't but that's because i've never liked the look of those metal influenced basses. if you like and have tried it out then it seems like a sound choice

Ska and metal? weird combo. I'd recomend looking into SWR if you can afford it, as well as Eden, nemisis was recomended to me a few times, they are okay. I like Ashdown personallly, but they don't have the best metal tones in the world, well other then the high end ones which can do most any thing. If you can get Ampg that's usually a safe bet, and GK is all ways a good bet. They have some nice and cheep starter kits, like the brat pack, which is one of the most amazing $300 halfs I've ever seen before. I think if I could I would personally go Eden if I were you. Also stay away from Berhinger, I've tried to play three of them that were DOA at shops (no one had tried to use them and they had not been tested out yet). Though I played a guitar amp that kicked arse. I wouldn't suggest them too unreliable, and they distort at like 1/2 max output. They just have a huge number of horrible stuff. But if you are lucky you can find the odd gem.

CommieDonkey anyone know what the ESP F series is like for slap? I'd be the F-4E would sound decent, but I find that most ESP guitars are not as good as they are made out to be. Unless you find a True ESP and not the LTD ones. If it says ESP on it then you probably have some thing really good on your hands. I've never personally picked one up befor you should try one out next time you go to a shop.
