Show Me How To Lie....
The girl seemed far more open this time around, and Adney assumed it was because he had asked her out for himself this time; last time he had been encouraged by her brother. "Well I wasn't born like this, but I'm stuck this way now." he grinned, as if it didn't matter to him at all. "So you can take me for all my beauty or leave." he raised a hand to brush his face dramatically, though he was joking. Crossing his arms, he relaxes back in his chair, keeping a bit of distance for now. "Your abilities sound far more useful than mine." he admitted, wishing he had some of this sand back when he spent most of his time working or sleeping; insomnia was an easy thing to develop when you were overly stressed.

This time Sky laughed at how dramatic he was being. If she hadn't thought about what she said before she said it she would have called him a drama queen. "Everyone has their abilities for a reason and there well always be a creature stronger than the next. Soon you're at a dragon and the creature that beats a dragon is a man. My powers only allow me to get away in an attack. I can't prevent it or kill anyone." The young woman pointed out showing that she was just as weak as he was.

Show Me How To Lie....
Pleased that he had drawn a laugh with his false dramatics, he was the drama teacher after all, the redhead considered her words carefully. "I'm mostly good for distractions, and the occasional heads up." he added in, smiling faintly. "It's a little hard to have confidence in your abilities when you've spent most of your life with two guys who can shoot crazy magic out of their fingertips." he was referring to Cam and Pyry, with their fancy fire and ice techniques respectively. "Not that I'd want their abilities. They each come with their own repercussions." like Cam's very explosive temper, and Pyry's social and technological ineptitude.

Sky wondered if Adney ever took a magic theory class. Maybe he would learn more about magical abilities. "You need to take a magic theory class." Sky told him straight out. "You have the ability to use magic just like a witch or wizard. Or at least in theory." She told him. It was too bad the warlock teacher dude had gone missing maybe that would have been the best place to start. "You don't need the abilities of anyone else but yourself."

Raising an eyebrow at the girl's statement, the redhead considers this a moment; he had magical abilities? "But it's all in theory. I'm not very interested in magic, really." he admitted, shrugging a bit. "It sounds like a lot of trouble for something I don't need." he was content with his own abilities, as they were quite useful as it was. Magic, however, seemed to have far too many drawbacks for his tastes. It was useful, sure, but what did he need it for? He'd already made it to this side of the Veil, and he had plenty of potential with the abilities he had.

Sky was a little surprised in her facial expressions before she ended it with a soft smile. She looked lovingly at Adney. She was really happy that it seemed that he really believed in himself over needing some new power. "I'm glad. I was worried that you didn't believe in your own power. There is nothing wrong with learning new things, but if you don't believe in the abilities you already have then you can't get very far." She commented.

Watching his date's expression change, he was glad that it ended with a smile. He was surprised at the almost adoring expression on her face, and he smiled gently in response. She was so pretty when she smiled; if only she'd trade in that scowl more often. "Oh, I'm quite fond of my ability. Illusions are great for distractions and bluffs." he didn't mention his visions, which had a tendency to be quite frustrating and occasionally painful. "Not that I need attack magic anyway." he smiled slyly, as if in on some great secret. There was nothing secret nor magical about his skills with a knife and firearm, but he liked to pretend he was just skilled.

Sky had a calm smile on her face as she listened to him. "That's why I learned how to fight with a a sword and my hands. If I really need to fight then it's better to make an opponent think you're weak." Sky agreed. That's at least what she did and so far it's worked for her. "Ashley said I could always use my sex appeal too."

Show Me How To Lie....
A startled chuckle came from his mouth at the mention of sex appeal, and the redhead simply nods in agreement. Sky certainly cleaned up nicely, when she wasn't trying to look like a man. He was very tempted to make a comment about her sex appeal, but managed to keep it to himself; he didn't want to be too forward and freak her out. "When you're a guy my size, it's fairly hard to make people think you're weak." he grinned, arms still crossed comfortably across his chest. While he wasn't bodybuilder size, it was hard to deny the muscles one could clearly see in his forearms and through his thin t-shirt. His shoulders were broad, and while he wasn't chubby, he was far from scrawny. "But it is a fairly good strategy."

Skylar wasn't going to disagree at all with what Adney commented about a guy his size because if you were a little kid you were going to cry when a guy that size came around. She wasn't as afraid any more because of her practice with all the guys who wanted to look something close to her date. "I agree. So people wouldn't mess with you with the bonus that you get girls to flock to you. Who doesn't like a well toned guy?" She told her date.

Girls flocked to him? That was new. He might wish girls flocked to him, and maybe things had changed recently, but girls had never really flocked to him before. They gave him funny looks and giggled when he walked by, but he'd always assumed he came off as too cold to be approachable. He liked to think he'd loosened up recently, but he doubted it. At her question, however, he paused, thinking a moment. His brother tended to prefer the girly types, but he didn't seem to discriminate. "I'm sure there are girls that prefer a different body type." he stated, choosing not to comment on her claim that girls flocked to him.

Skylar's more blunter side kicked in. "Only girls who run crying to mom or like those weakling emo guys. Most girls, even the nerdy kind, say that if a guy has some muscle then it's a bonus." The girl commented She then turned the comment on her. "No no one wants a girl who looks like a guy and can give them a run for their money." She said as she pushed her hair back.

Raising an eyebrow at her blunt statement, the redhead smiled in amused. As she continued to speak, however, one eyebrow rose in challenge. "Really? Because I'm a sucker for pretty girls." he told her, smiling slyly. He was subtly stating that she was a pretty girl, as he had only ever dated such. He glanced up as a server arrived with their food and water, waiting patiently for him to move off before he continued speaking. "And I do hope you aren't saying you make a more attractive man than I do. I would be so very hurt if you are." he flashed a grin, inspecting the bowl that had been set before him. It seemed he had selected some sort of dark broth ramen, and while it certainly smelled good, he set about poking it's contents with his chopsticks.

Sky broke her chopsticks apart as soon as she got to the bowl. She let out a laugh before she even touched her food. "I would like to point out I don't have the abs for it. I probably could pull off a skinny emo guy if I really wanted to be weird and dress in all black. Some people need a little color in their diet." She commented. It probably showed that Ashley and her were siblings who had some fashion sense. The girl then leaned down and started to eat her dish. It was good to her.

Show Me How To Lie....
Picking out a brightly colored vegetable, the redhead inspects it before eventually placing it in his mouth. Chewing thoughtfully, he sets about eating his meal less cautiously. He chuckled quietly at her response, swallowing the food in his mouth quickly before speaking. "Hey, some people are into that kind of thing. You should see some of the people in New York City." there were plenty of weirdos in NYC, and sometimes it seemed that weird was far more normal there than what was usually considered 'normal'. He had long ago been desensitized to weirdos long ago, and had spent his own share of time as one of them. Technically, with his strange abilities, he still was one. "There's nothing wrong with being a little weird. Who's to say what normal is anyway?" he asked, doing his best to maneuver some noodles into his mouth.
