She laughed harshly, "Now I'm almost insulted. To spill the blood of a kill without stopping to sample it. What a waste." She was beginning to wonder now what good this alliance was leading too. Certainly the walker was interesting company and it was an amusing way to spend a day, but the rewards did seem to be slim. Pity, this had such promise.

“A kill can be satisfying with or without feeding,” Namir scoffed, unconsciously slipping into a debating mode. “If it serves a purpose, at least. Death is only wasteful if it is needless, and I am never wasteful.” As he spoke, he started walking again, picking up the scent once more and keeping it this time.

"Uh-huh..." she rolled her eyes at his arrogance. She should have gone for a frenzy walker - sure she would have needed to stay out of its reach the whole time, but wind it up and set it on course, the chaos would have been beautiful. But no, she had found a thinker...that spend more time griping than actually helping her meet her goals, and his banter was subpar. At least her fellow kalona offered a more stimulating duel of words...when they weren't just snarling. Yep, she should have found a frenzied walker.

That “uh huh” was all he needed to continue talking. There was something to be said about having a captive audience, he supposed. “Even if one’s purpose is only to see blood draining, for example, it still wouldn’t be a waste.”

"Even the youngest of foals take pleasure in making a nice mess," the kalona muttered under her breath. "And I'm sure you a very good at finding logical justification for everything you do, aren't you?"

"Of course," he sniffed. "Everything I do is driven by logic and necessity."

Right, and THAT was why I picked this one, she thought to herself. She knew he was a planner and was going to try to get him to do a little plotting for her. That seemed somewhat unlikely now...

Namir allowed the conversation to die, since it was clear that his companion didn’t have the brain power to carry on a decent debate or even entertain him for more than a few seconds. He glanced toward the darkening sky and breathed deeply, taking in the scent of his prey. He knew that some Kalona could see in the dark, but not all, so he studied his companion.
“Can you fly in the dark?” he asked, bluntly.

She snorted derisively, "Of course I can fly in the dark." How well I can navigate is sometimes....questionable, she mused to herself. But she could certainly fly in the dark, and by all accounts she could see well enough to do it with minimum risks. But that's when she wasn't tracking prey on the ground...hard to find prey if the day's experiences were any proof.

"And can you track in the dark?" Namir asked, thoughtfully. If she could track at night then they wouldn't have to stop to rest.

"To track I must be able to see the smallest disturbance in the ground, the shifting of dirt, broken twigs, a nice little blood trail....all very difficult to note by a sliver of moonlight. However," she continued silkily. "I do not see why the lack of light should interfere with your ability to smell, right Rover?"

He snarled at the insult but let it go. For the moment. “I can track, but it does me no good to be dragging your useless carcass along behind me. If you will be crippled by the darkness, it would benefit us more to rest for the night and start at first light, when you will be of actual use.” Not that she had been of much use at all so far.

"Have it your way," the night mare said settling into the branches of an overhanging tree. She eyed the skies warily, sensing some uneasiness in the dark and heavy clouds. "If it rains this night the water will wash away the scent of the prey..." Not to mention make me very wet and unhappy, she thought bitterly to herself.

“Then you’ll have an opportunity to prove yourself useful, wouldn’t you?” Namir sniped, circling the area they had decided to settle down in. He had no intention of sleeping out in the open to be rained on. If it rained. Personally, his interest in this hunt was rapidly waning. Yes, he was furious that those feather brained twits had managed to escape him, but he had better things to do with his time than chase after useless prey with a glorified she-bat. He wasn’t even fully certain why he was going through this trouble with that very she-bat when he couldn’t stand her. She was noisey, impertanant, and thus far completely useless. So why hadn’t he killed her yet? It was something to ponder as he found a comfortable spot to settle in.

With the first raindrop it was official. She simply Had to come up with better, more fruitful plots. Honestly, this was getting ridiculous, so far this whole endeavor had left her grouchy, stiff, hungry, and without a hint of amusement or bloodshed. What was so great about skinwalkers anyways? as the rain started to fall harder, disturbing the leaves on the tree in which she'd settled. This one was grouchy, arrogant, and above all Whiny, she snorted to herself trying to adjust her wings to provide a little shelter for her body. If she'd wanted that sort of company she could have just found another kalona. Or better yet, stayed by her lovely river eating fresh fish all day long, a life of luxury indeed.
