It was a quiet walk back, but the ran and silence gave the kelpie a moment to collect. Once inside, they headed back up and to Barth's room. Inside, he could see rather well, but the candles helped to pinpoint where Malodore and Barth were collected. Then, in turn, the now dead creation in it's arms. The sight of the motionless creature caused Calder to look over at the Igor, and he frowned. "Sorry buddy. Guess....it needed just a bit more juice." Or maybe it was never meant to be.

Malodore sighed. "The lepus is alive and extremely vigorous, Christof. It merely tried to eat my face, so I neutralized it... where is an enclosure I can put it in, for now? If I release it at this moment, it will doubtlessly either escape or attack once more. I wish it to wear itself out before I repair it."

"Ah, Christof," Barth said, smiling. "Good timing. ...The um, prototype cage seems to be in need of digging out."
He seemed unaware of the Shakespearian death scene going on in Maladore's claws.

"Ith.. ith it dead?" Christof squeaked, eyes still wide as he watched it hang from those articulate knives.

Calder shut the door seeing as Malodore said the lepus could get up and attack. It seemed a little silly to think that such a small, little lepus could have them worried. Walking over, he eyed the creature, leaning over as he flipped his hair back to keep from dripping water all over the Plague Doctor's hands. "Seems dead to me." As a simple test, Calder poked the creature.

"Of course it's dead. That doesn't stop it from being animate," Malodore said. "I was most careful not to puncture any vital organs."

Barth turned his attention back to the lepus.
"It did seem...more wriggly. A moment ago."

At the poke, the lepus suddenly lunged, gaping maw twisting to chomp down on fresh Kelpie hand.
Christof jumped, hurrying forward to drag a chair over to where he had stored their finished project rejects out of the way when Barth hadn't been paying attention. He was swift with Igor organization, it seemed, or the Slothish organization took over.

The act didn't last long, and while he was told it HAD been active and the fact he was testing it to see if it was alive, he didn't expect it to actually wake up. The chomp to his finger was unpleasant. Far past that of a normal leech bite, and he cringed, seconds away from flinging the tiny creature across the room.
Instead, he cringed and reached over, pushing against the creature's face to unhinge it's jaws and free his finger. "Yeah....take it back.....it's alive." Congrats Christof. You have a mean, little lepus that liked flesh.

"A complete success, I think," Malodore said, opening its beak in a smile. "Though, ah, could we hurry with the containment? My arms are getting rather tired."

"Yes. But not entirely without, err, cost." Barth looked back at his refrigerator. ...That was the way of most things, he supposed.
You can't get something for nothing.

"I with Mithtreth had thtayed..." Christof sighed quietly as he hauled the container down from the shelf to hop from the chair and hurry over. At least if this one mis-fired it's door, they could just put the lepus back together again. He held the door open as he offered it out to Malodore anxiously. "Sthe could have helped with er.... the taming, I thuthpect. But... but it'th aliwe! Really aliwe! It... it worked!"

Calder didn't comment. Christof was, as usually, unhapppy when Riley was upset. It was a poor situation that if he wanted his friend to be happy, it usually meant that Chrsitof either had to be on good terms with his owners or too absorbed in work to notice. The Igor noticed, and now his mind was fixed on Riley. While he didn't care if Riley was happy or not, he hoped she didn't mope about for too long and bring down Christof's mood with her.
At least, he pried his finger free and started to examine the red bite mark on his digit.

Malodore peeled the lepus off of its digits, inverting its hands so that the thing naturally slid down the length of its claws and plopped down - right into the containment unit.
Phew.
Arms aching, Malodore flexed all its fingers. "Well. That was my exercise for today... are you much injured, Calder? If there is bleeding, I have bandages..."

Barth set the candle down by the cage, looking in curiously.
"I wonder why it attacked like that. Twice. Painful experience, I suppose. Being jolted to life. Are you going to err, name it?"
