(( Eta IV is suspicious of the hooded figure... and then accusing it too! ))

Her piece of cardstock sat before her, neatly folded. One hand rested on top of it, tapping lightly. Being faced with all of these other competitors was getting pretty stressful. Things were simpler when it was just her and Harry -- even when Cho was there. They existed in a tiny little world that made sense. She could say something to Harry about Hogwarts, and he didn't look at her like she was insane. The scrutiny of the people in the room was forcing her to look at the thin veil over her sanity, the one piece of meaning that she clung to like a life raft in this impossible situation.

Logic and rationale had led her to suspect Epsilon XIII. Better him than her. Better anyone then her. Better Gamma III die even -- wait, no. That was not something that Hermione would think.

Eta IV shook her head. She reached up to try and rub her eyes, but it stopped prematurely, blocked by the protective helmet over her face. The coping mechanism showed signs of slipping, and she was not at all equipped to handle that psychological breakdown.

And then Gamma III stood up and tore her world in half.

Eta IV stood, fist clenched at her side. Gamma III had led her to peace of mind through the world of Harry Potter -- and now she was abandoning her out on this ledge. Eta IV hadn't asked her to climb up into the windmill and talk her through her existential crisis. She hadn't asked for Kate to tackle her. She hadn't asked for any of this.

Except one problem -- she had. She remembered the classroom. She remembered the words: you volunteered for this. Now, more than ever, Eta IV wished she had a weapon, or an escape hatch. The person that she had tethered herself to in this entire ordeal was now flying off the handle. So what did she want to do: go back down the rabbit hole or open her eyes to the reality?

The paper tore in her hands, falling to the floor like snow. "I'm with you," she said, hopping up onto the table beside Gamma III. "If I'm Hermione or Eta IV or someone else all together, I know that I'd rather be pulling the strings than having my own pulled. That is my logic."

Turning, she offered a hand to Alpha Two and Alpha Nine. They were the first who showed them the hooded figure might not be right. And if they all died for this?

Well. Everybody had to die sometime. At least this way she could go out with two middle fingers lofted high.

She would just have to draw strength from what she assumed to be her role model in the meantime:

((T-5 is suspicious of E-10 and the reaper.))

As a fellow pendant holder, T-5 was uncomfortable about all the accusations directed at E-13. Not only were most everyone jumping on him for having a pendant, the guy was pushed into a corner so much that he gave away a pendant just to get himself out of some hot water. It didn't mean he was safe even! And even that didn't keep some people from glaring at him. T-5 sank more in his seat, not at all liking the atmosphere.

Raising his hand, he looked at the reaper. "What happens to the traitor? If it's something really bad, then how are we supposed to make a judgment when we don't know what makes a traitor in the first place?" He also heard a few mutters about the reaper tricking them, which he could see.

Just then, E-10 exploded, hating that the pendant wasn't given to her. Just when he was about to write the reaper's name to dodge the responsibility of pointing a finger, he stopped and wrote E-10 on his card. She had rather mean and was throwing a fuss for a pendant that didn't even belong to her in the first place and she wasn't entitled to.

Folding his card, he leaned in and plopped it in the box.

(( A5 is neutral ))

Oh really now, they were going to start accusing Mr. Grim Reaper himself ...? Fiver wasn't entirely sure how good an idea THAT was, but he kept his mouth shut on the subject. That was his new policy. Don't speak up, don't draw attention ... don't even bother. It just got him killed. Tch.

(( E-13 is Neutral. And thinking. ))

What was the key? What had he said? The horse had given them s**t about kneeling before him, and they'd all attacked each other...but the horse had meant it literally. They all had to kneel on the ground.

I'll set out the rules of this game straight and clear.

First of all one of you sitting on this table is a traitor.

Broke a rule perhaps they did not even realize they broke, and still sit here, on this table...

It couldn't be something that stupid, could it?

Slowly, without accusing anyone, E-13 stood too, neatly pushing his chair into the table.

((E-10 wants to change her accusation to the reaper!))

E-10 jumped again as Gamma 3 stood and roared for their attention, this time fumbling out of her chair completely and staring at the angry lady on the table from the floor. Holy s**t, she was getting real now? No more of the stupid Harry Potterness? This was more like it. She stayed sitting on the floor for now, her eyes peeking over the table and just watching. Watching and listening. Everyone was accusing the reaper now. Well, not everyone but...

But...what? What made them a traitor? That reaper couldn't read her mind. And these thoughts of hers were only because to her this was all a game, she had purposely deluded herself into believing this to be one large living game of World of Warcraft or some s**t and everyone dying wasn't really dying; the threat of it being permanent was just to give them the desire to live. The promise of victory, the threat that only thirteen of them could survive. That was what kept them going. And here they were accusing each other of all being traitors, or one person being a traitor. They were being traitors because of their instinct to survive? If they were traitors then so were animals. Didn't animals kill each other all the time? No one got in a stink when they did ******** it, they were all acting like animals themselves. No..they were worse than animals. They were scum. All they cared about was staying alive, all they cared about was getting a stupid goddamn pendant. E-10 was ready to sacrifice someone...and over what? A piece of shiny ******** jewelry? She pulled herself up to her feet, bracing herself on the table until she was standing. "She makes a good point. I'd like to change my vote. This whole time I thought I was the traitor and just wanted to find any random person to blame so that I could live. We're acting like animals. If you have the ******** nerve to pit us against each other, against total strangers who have done nothing to us, then you should show us your face you COWARD!" They couldn't take their masks off, they would die...right? She didn't want to risk that much. She definitely didn't want to risk testing if their masks really exploded.

But a hood was not a mask. A hood could be removed most certainly.

"You sound like Death Pony, trying to get us to kill each other until only one of us is left standing. I refused to kneel to a ******** pony, I'm not going to just sit here anymore while some cowardly hooded dude tells me someone in this room, possibly even me, is a traitor. You can't read my mind! You don't know me!" She picked up her paper, the one she'd written E-5's name on, and tore it up.

[A7 is ACCUSING THE HOODED FIGURE LOL SUCH A SHEEP]

As much as A7 felt he should stand his ground and continue to offer himself up as a choice, the idea of living sounded pretty nice, too. Gamma Three stood up on the table, after A2 and A9 turned on the reaper.

A7 had already come to one conclusion about this entire exercise. Everything was just one big joke to these people. Their lives, their choices, nothing mattered. Whether they died or not wasn't going to be decided on some logical discussion, or a tactical choice, or even an alliance banding together in a show of courage.

It was just one guy. Standing there. Telling them what to do.

That man was not his chosen leader. He was some idiot in a cloak.

A7 had already forfeited his life by offering himself up as the traitor. How much worse could it get by accusing the one person he knew could end them all with a snap of his fingers? In fact, that sounded downright glorious.

"OI. YOU KNOW WHAT?" His hard footfalls stomped up onto the table, and he stood behind the lunatics. Behind that mask, his own crazed smile beamed down. "I change my mind. I say he's the only traitor here. Ain't nobody here even know what the rules are, we can't break them. He's the only one who knows."

The table creaked underneath him. How much more weight could it take?

[A1 is accusing the reaper emotion_awesome ]

A-One had hesitated to outright accuse the hooded figure; he'd gotten the whole group attacked at the beach by going for the horse again. But it was out in the open now, and he hadn't had to start it this time. He wasn't being much of a leader right now. But he wasn't going to split this group with a dissenting opinion, especially when he thought the same thing already.

He stood. "The table's going to break," he said mildly. "We can take our stand on the floor, right?" Then he turned to the hooded figure, voice going colder. "You're the one telling us to accuse a traitor in our midst," he said. "By my thinking, that makes you just as much of a traitor."

[E7 is confused... so he accuses nobody]

E7 watched everyone, he was ignored by Eta 4. Who followed another person onto a table, then another and then E13 stood.... he was baffled what should he do?

E10 had an odd outburst, something that made E7 frown at her. So much was going on, the table started to creek. He shifted his weight in his chair then stood. Whispering a small poem possibly where no one would hear with the commotion, something that sounded like he'd heard it before, but he couldn't say where. "O CAPTAIN! my Captain! our fearful trip is done; The ship has weather’d every rack, the prize we sought is won; The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting, While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring: But O heart! heart! heart! O the bleeding drops of red, Where on the deck my Captain lies, Fallen cold and dead." (Walt Witman)

He held the piece of paper in one hand looking around at everyone, before kneeling at the table to scribble a name. Nobody is the traitor and folding it before placing it in the box, if anything it was the only answer he could come up with. There were many that accused the reaper, but unlike the horse they couldn't fight it. He just hoped that his choice of who the traitor was, wasn't entirely wrong, before he stood back beside his team member. "I don't think this bodes well..." He whispered to E13.

Gamma Three turned her eyes on Alpha Five, who sat down there like some spineless coward. She shook her head.

“Some people don't value their lives enough to deserve them. You sit down there, and you might live. But if you live on beyond us, you will do so as a p***y. I hope it's worth it, you spineless piece of s**t.”

Yep. Angry Gamma Three was back.

((E-1 is neutral.))

E-1 sat back as her questioned was answered. If both A-5 and A-10 had died and come back, when there was supposed to be only one traitor, it ruled them out. She hated to admit it, but it felt true. She didn't like that some people seemed to receive the privilege of getting a second chance when her own team-mates didn't receive one.

What really got on her nerves was how a whole bunch of people were accusing E-13 of being the traitor. E-1 flipped open her phone to check the text congratulating him on receiving two pendants, noticing as she did that it was now the third day. Four days to go. Four days to get a pendant, or be one of the last thirteen alive, if she wanted to survive. E-1 very much wanted to survive!

Focusing back on the topic at hand, she didn't think the people running this 'game' would have congratulated E-13 if you weren't supposed to get them. And E-13 settled the matter a few moments later when he gave one of the pendants to E-5. E-1 gave them both a thumbs up, but jumped when E-10 slammed her pen down on the table. Wow. E-1 stared at her for a few moments, wondering where that had come from. Was she just mad that there were still people accusing E-13?

However, it seemed the accusations were to be short lived when someone had the idea to accuse the hooded figure. Suddenly, everyone was accusing him! A great number of them had climbed onto the table, as well. E-1 did not join in. She'd stood to the damned horse thing, and it hadn't bothered to stick to its word. She wasn't really holding her hopes that the reaper would either. But, accusing the organizer of the 'game' seemed lunacy. What did they think he would do? Agree, and kill himself as the traitor? Idiocy.

E-1's thoughts were interrupted when E-13 slowly got to his feet. At first, she thought he would join the other in accusing the reaper. But he didn't, and alarm bells were ringing in E-1's head. Following his lead, she also stood. The bit of poetry from E-7 also took her by surprise. She turned to look at him.

"What was that?" she asked him. "It was beautiful, but why the poetry?"

As people rose up all around the room, Eta IV felt stronger. She was still confused if she was Hermione, or nobody, or some sort of monster. Gamma III was leading a charge, calling people pussies and otherwise taking names. "There is a line in the sand, people," she echoed, crossing over to Alpha Seven.

Without asking, she quickly climbed on to his back so that she could see better. He was big and tall. Why not?

So many people were still neutral. Why? They had to make a choice! They had to be something more than a wallflower blinking wide-eyed and trembling. Obviously, they just needed someone to push them to action. Gamma III had helped lead the charge. Now Eta IV would do her part too. She wanted to say something rousing, something that would inspire everyone to rally around their cause.

Closing her eyes, Eta IV dug deeper into her soul than she had ever plumbed before. She thought of the most beautiful poetry that existed in the tatters of her memory and spoke it proudly to the entire room:

"Come with me if you want to live!" (Terminator)

(( A5 is suspecting Gamma Three ))

What. The. ********. Now there were even more people trying to accuse the cloaked guy? This was retarded. But when someone he hadn't even MET yet - in fact one of the idiots babbling about wands and hippogryphs and whatever - decided to call him a coward, out of the blue, Fiver decided he'd had enough.

He stood up to face Gamma Three, fists clenched. "Who are you to talk? Living in some fantasy world where people wave wands around? Acting like you know who everyone else is, whether they agree with you or not? Sure I might've given people nicknames, but they were based on out numbers, or personalities or whatever. Not this ... whatever you people are doing. It all sounds kinda familiar but I really don't know where it's from."

Moving back from the table a little, it almost looked as if he meant to jump over it to get to the other. "Maybe YOU'RE the one that broke a rule. Because if all that s**t is actually memories ... how did you remember? What did you do that was different, that let you know your name? Or anyone else's name? Does ANYONE else remember s**t like that? I don't. Do you guys? Seems pretty suspicious to me .... "

He folded arms over his chest. "And sitting, standing, whatever... if I survive, I win. p***y or not."

(( E-13 is accusing the Last Man Standing. ))

Folks were standing up pretty quickly now, and he wasn't sure if it was really as stupid as a reverse game of musical chairs, but why not. Couldn't hurt anything. There was still one part of the instructions, though. Write the name of the traitor down.

"Yeah," E-13 said to E-7. "Not if you're still sitting down, anyway."

He pulled his paper over, and still standing, wrote last guy still in a chair. Folded the card, and into the box it went.

A7 felt vindicated in his choice when his leader called out, joining them (even if he didn't get on the table). He hollered a cheer, pumping his fist up even as one of the loonies started climbing all over his back.

"What is it with you chicks and using me like a tree?" He muttered with a chuckle, spreading his legs to keep himself balanced.

The table creaked under his feet even more.

A7 looked up at the girl on his shoulders, his jaw dropping at the beautiful bit of poetry that had fallen from her lips. He couldn't have said it better himself. It even sounded familiar, as if there was a part of him deep down that it called out to.

"That was beautiful." He whispered in awe. A single tear fell from his eye.

E7 looked over to E1. "It felt like a Dead Poets Society moment." He shrugged softly as he stood among his teammates. "I'm not sure why, but all this standing..." He looked around smiling.

He almost chuckled when the confused Eta 4 climbed onto the back of another. If they died, they at least died trying. "Sometimes we do things we don't understand.... I think... because it just feels right." He looked back to E1.
