I think that the people who haven't read the comics or are interested in the history of superman are interested as much. in the old episodes it WAS more about Clark growing up and trying to discover who he was and his place in the world. Only now they are getting more into the chronology of how he is becoming superman and they are going a little more on the subject of comics and such, that not everyone is going to have an easy time understanding.

I don't think they are losing their touch at all..
I love how in the old episodes, people had super powers and stuff like that.
I also love the new episodes as well with the superheroes and the end of the world <3

Okay, I want to clear up my anwser... I said "Sadly yes" however I will forever stand by Smallville, I just think that it's going out to a different audiance becuase now in the... well seventh i guess *Gasp, has it been that long??* Clark is in Collage and he has "Collage problems" and is emerging from not a boy but into a world saving hunckalisious man, so it's just different no... and Lana's with LEX??!! Gahhh, *Pouts* she dosen't deserve him!... thats my two cents.

For the college thing, it never shows Clark in college actually studying exept with Fine as a professor. How bout Chloe and Lana? What are they doing for college? And I do think Lana deserves Lex, anyways, that is who he wants so HA!

Clark isn't even in collage anymore. he Dropped out remember? to help out with the farm. They don't even make the whole collage thing a big deal. Chloe's main thing is the daily Planet and really they only mention Lana's Astronomy Class. At the beginning sure they played up the Colage life a litte bit with ana trying to get into the Sorority, but really they have other things they are focusing on.

In the long run yeah Lex does deserve his time with Lana whether you like to admit it or not. Lex has earned the relationship he is in by being HONEST with Lana and letting her in on his life. ALl the things that Clana didn't have was already showing up in their friendship which made it probable for Lana to take the next step. It was easy for her because she felt that she could TRUST Lex because he actually TOLD her things about his life and she felt like shse KNEW him enough to be in an intimate relationship.
