"Blue cloak actually, but yeah he had a scythe," yII confirmed while watching the others each try to see if they could bust down the door. It definitely still seemed secure to him. Turning towards yVII now, he shrugged with a frown.

"Who knows? But you're right. They shouldn't exist. At the same time, people with the ability to create a 'net' for souls shouldn't exist either. I'm sure if we could remember what the hell it was we signed up for we could get more of an idea what all this is... but that isn't really the case," he sighed, "It doesn't help that whenever we figure out the answer to one question, two end up taking its place too."

The Gamma looked on back to the door. It likely wasn't the gateway into this area from the living world seeing how everyone just spawned randomly inside instead of walking in. There still had to be a reason why it would need to be 'secure' or 'sealed' however.

"Nice to see you again, Beta Eight, E-3," She muttered rather monotonously; she could have sworn she had seen E-3 died. She helped make it happen, after all. Then again, she should have guessed, seeing how other people had respawned on day 1.

Turning to look (glare) at E-3, she raised an eye brow, "I killed you - well, the horse landed the final blow - but I know what I did." She could feel herself getting into trouble with the other E-members already, but she had to get to the bottom of this, and being 'Ms nice guy' was not going to help, "So, you respawned after dying at the cornfields... And got brought to the dark cove to get killed again? Seems like whoever's controlling the game don't like you and your lack of balls from your self pity."

Oh boo hoo, I died and couldn't play medic even if my memory's been wiped and I would probably fail as a medic anyway. Boo hoo.

"You were probably meant to stay dead, E-3. You too, Beta Eight," She glared at her fellow Beta for a moment, rolling her eyes behind her mask, "That might explain why that hooded guy did what he did... HA. In a way, having you rekilled at the cove by 4 others is punishment, wouldn't you agree? It probably hurts more than just finishing you off himself."

She was getting grumpy.

"Anyway, have fun with that door," She gave it kick, needing to vent her frustration more than anything, before shrugging, addressing everyone who wanted to listen, "I have a feeling its here to protect us from something rather than to keep us in... If we open it now, whatever is causing the door to rattle like that is probably going to come in and finish us off for good." She then laughed dryly before walking back to the couch, and flopping down on it.

She was getting really, really grumpy.

"It'll take more than that to break the door."

The tone of the disembodied voice was familiar. "Sorry I cant make an appearance but I'm a little ah, naked right now. Nonetheless duties are duties, so here I am, upholding my final end of the bargain. All of you, at one point, asked me this question: will I remember everything? And I promised you that you would, and I like to uphold such promises."

As if compelled by an invisible force, the door groaned, and swung wide open. It was pitch black on on the other side. "So this it it. You are currently stuck here in limbo, because of my side of the bargain. And here you still stay until our contract is terminated. You can either choose to stay here forever, or choose to learn everything. But be warned, once you step into the door, you will never be able to come back again. There will be nothing holding you back or stopping you. For those of you a little more dense, it means exactly as it means, once you step into the darkness, this is the end of your voyage. You will be freed from everything."

A sigh - were the shadows around the door shifting slightly, in the figure of a person? "But I leave this choice in your hands, go now, go later, not go at all and never fulfill your own promise. It is up to you. But this decision, you are on your own. Now if you'll excuse me, I will give you time to ponder your decision."

((OOC:

- Beyond the door is the FINAL destination. Anyone appearing from this point onwards will also see the open door (but unfortunately will not know where it leads to)
- If your character chooses to go BEYOND the door, you are concluding your character. All characters must be concluded before the end of the metaplot (day 7) in order to be considered eligible for the prize
- Please read the guidelines here and write a solo, of any length, on your characters history, anything you'd like to write, their actions up to this point, history, etc etc. You can include a separate solo on their reflections on the island rp if you so wish.
- After the solo point, your character is considered permanently deceased, but please don't consider questing for them, etc etc. until the end of the meta thank you, due to the prizes/characters being handed out!

(( A-Three is entering from Task thread. He hates this trip. ))

When A-Three materialized inside the lounge, he took a moment to...analyze the situation. To tell true, the setting appealed to him, but he was hardly one to think that his little stint out there had earned him a pass to heaven. He'd never clutched at such naive pipe dreams...and the posh setting and fully-stocked bar aside...he was still wearing his suit and that be-damned gas mask. Honestly, he would like nothing more than to be rid of it. He might be ugly as sin beneath it all...and he would still give anything to feel the air, or at least experience proper tactile sensation once more.

Noting the knot of people huddled about the now-gaping door, he sighed softly, just shaking his head as he moved away from them to sit on one of the cushions, leaning forward, steepling his fingers as his gaze affixed to a point on the far wall. He was quite sure that he'd have company soon, and he fully intended to give them a talking to. Three was...decidedly dissatisfied with the behavior of the companions that he'd taken on, and though he had the satisfaction of knowing they were likely to follow on his heels, just as dead as he was (though he'd nary a clue where he was now)...then he was going to take advantage of this limbo in which he'd found himself.

It was all his own fault, really, for choosing to weigh himself down with such as those two. Unable to really take care of themselves, especially Fiver II. Children.

...Children who had been willing to die for him. What sort of nonsense was all that? Why had he recklessly put self-preservation aside for those who likely deserved whatever lot fell to them for such foolish actions. Damn this entire fiasco! If he'd gone with his instincts...he'd still be alive, but he'd betrayed them, betrayed himself...in trying to protect the others.

But they were his. He had laid claim to them, and in doing so...he'd had no choice but to defend his own. "Who, pray tell, is the fool now?" He murmured.

(Zeta Five is entering from Last Man Standing)

Zeta Five found himself in a room and put a hand to his chest. Nothing there. His eyes stared at the wall then slowly around the room. A lounge. Death was a lounge. That wasn't what he was expecting. But maybe Heaven had gotten rid of the clouds and gone technical... or was this Hell?

He hadn't spotted Three sitting behind him. Instead he bowed over slightly and slammed his fist into the wall. "HA!" He shouted at no one. "HA! See what we get? Have fun in that room with that madman! Bet he's your hero now til he pulls that scythe on you!"

The words of someone who sounded more like crying then celebrating. He turned his head slightly. Three was probably on another plane. He'd caused Three's death like a moron. Just by speaking out. What kind of solider was he?

Not one. He wasn't a solider. He was just an idiot kid. He pushed himself from the wall he'd fallen against and turned around. Familiar red met his gaze and he felt his heart twist.

His gaze fell away from him. He wanted to hug him. To do something for him. Anything. But it was his fault. ".....I'm sorry, Sir." He half whispered not sure if he was allowed near him.

He'd manage ruined their bond. He didn't dare approach him. Didn't dare feel the loathing stare. Three liked order and intelligence. He had been a mistake.

"My past........" Bait murmered to himself. Would he finally know his name? Would he know how he got here? He didn't know if this was for real or if it was a trick, but he just had to know. He had to know who he was. But only one thing was holding him back; Beta Three. Guilt chewed at him the more he was drawn towards the door and the promise of remembering. He wanted....no...he needed to know, to know everything.

"If any of you get the chance to return......please do me one thing......find Bee...Beta Three...tell her I'm sorry. Please...," He looked upon them one last time, pleading them, anyone who stayed, to do this one simple thing for him. Taking on last moment, he strode towards the door, not once hesitating as he entered the dark.

(( A5 is entering from Last Man Standing ))

Fiver blinked. And he was in a lounge. What the ********. Where ... how ...? He remembered the scythe, recalled screaming at the others, see you in hell, but this ... "The ********?" he said out loud, spinning in a slow circle. There were others here, standing around and staring at an open door ...

But they didn't matter. Over there ... just over there, he saw Three, and Fiver II. Three was sitting on one of the couches with Fiver II standing in front of him, head bowed ... apologizing ... ah ********. He was dead, and this place ... what was this place? This didn't seem like hell, or heaven, or anywhere that made sense. But did it really matter right now? At least ... he got a chance to see the others again.

Fiver walked over slowly, put an arm around Fiver II's shoulders. "It's not your fault ... " he murmured softly. "Nobody's fault really ... they're just idiots. Who can't handle when someone doesn't like their ******** point of view ... remember? S'how I died before too..."
PostPosted: Mon Apr 11, 2011 7:38 am

Ah, and there they were, the both of them coming towards him. First was Fiver II, after that initial outburst...quiet...as he always was when there wasn't dire peril around. For some reason danger seemed to make him particularly vocal and self-sacrificing. Heh, naught of that to be found here. Slowly, he turned to look at the other, considering him for a moment. Regardless of what his true age might be, Three surmised that he was younger...far younger still, in the ways of the world.

Three himself, he mused, should not be anyone's first choice to mentor a child of any kind. He could already tell that about himself, practically heartless and utterly self-serving. Preferring to see intelligence reign supreme over the seething moronicism that was running rampant through the very heart of humanity. It seemed to be a dying cause, rather literally. With another slow exhale, he pondered the words he would use on Fiver II, wondering what level of snow-laden criticism he would dump atop the boy's shoulders. "You were rash." It was snapped, concise. "In reality...this contrived, silly game or otherwise, you cannot merely speak your mind, regardless of whether or no your cause is just. To hold one's tongue in moments of tension, is often the wiser course. I beg of you to think before you thrust yourself into action, lest the consequences be permanent. I trust this is a lesson you have learned." Annoyed, distaste for everyone and everything festering within him just now, he was also rather disgusted with himself as well.

He'd failed to keep his own from joining him, as here they were, Fiver bursting in as if on cue with a tidbit of wisdom of his own. "You could both do with some self-control. To guard one's lips is to guard one's life." A growl, that.

...and then, he took a slow breath in, trying to let some of the ice seep from him, that cold fire. "But be that as it may, it is true...the greater idiots seem to lie in the land of the living that we have just recently vacated." A step closer, mayhap, to accepting that apology. They were dead, after all, what difference did it make, to harbor the grudge that had so joyously made itself at home in Three's chest...not a one...he'd best let it die before it took root. "I merely cannot believe I let the two of you impair my judgement."

Did he regret defending them? Not truly...but it was still an annoyance.

Fiver II was so happy to see Fiver follow after him. Fiver didn't hat him. He leaned into the other man and shut his eyes. He wanted to disappear.

That feeling only increased as it began. Three was right. Fiver II was just a kid. One who thought with his heart and not his mind. Each snap made him visibly flinch in Fiver's arms. He had ******** up. Majorly. He'd just held out hsi arms and said 'kill me and my friends'.

His entire body seemed to sink. Truthfully he was crying but unable to wipe at his eyes. He'd destroyed the friendsdhip he was trying so hard to start with Three. Destroyed everything over a damned person he didn't know.

He was getting good at that. He didn't respond as he pulled away from Fiver to slip away to the couch on the otherside of the room. He hadn't meant to get them all killed. He really hadn't.

The last part wounded him more then anything else he'd said. He was such a screwup. Three was right to hate him.He hadn't wanted to save them. It wasn't in his nature and he ended up dying anyway.

Way to go Fiver 2 or rather, Moron.

Fiver just stared at Three for a moment or two, not resisting when Fiver II pulled away from him. How could he say those things...? After everything they'd been through. Everything that had happened...? "Way to go, a*****e," he muttered. "For all we know, the cloaked guy WAS the only way out of the room. Not killing him could've saved us all. But you just... you go off NOW at Fiver II for trying to stop it? You're no better than they are if you think that."

It didn't matter anymore. Lips shut or lips open, they were still all dead. Really, it had only been a matter of time. People had been gunning for HIM from the start. And he'd almost rather be here than out there. "Maybe we're better off dead."

Then he spun on a heel and went to sit beside Fiver II, moving to put an arm about his shoulders again. "Hey ...s'okay ... even if he doesn't, I forgive you. I think you were right. All the rest of them will die from being crushed by the walls or something and then we can laugh at them together..."

What had he done? Three stared at the distraught Fiver II in utter bafflement. Honestly, he'd merely been trying to get the other to understand the severity of what had happened, what his actions had done, not at all realizing the blow that it must feel like to the younger male. Three had likely never been good at these sorts of things, and putting him in a position wherein he could 'impart wisdom' was looked upon as a distinctly bad decision.

Watching as the other moved to the opposite side of the chamber, he canted head to one side, nonplussed. What was Fiver II doing all the way over there? Somehow, it seemed he'd upset the other, and really, he wasn't sure why the youth was depressed. This was one of those things which people must learn from...and if they miraculously survived all of this...which he was now coming to rather sincerely doubt, then mayhap Fiver II would be a better person for it.

And then, came Fiver's words. Attention moving to the man, Three listened, wincing faintly as he received a lecture of his own from the lips of one of his companions. Was that what they thought of him, then? Was that...why Fiver II had moved away from him so suddenly? Likely. He could only imagine that people had never thought well of him. "Tch." It was a soft sound, and the man's shoulders hunched ever so slightly, making no move...to join the other two. He wasn't like them...a victim of unbridled emotion. It seemed a loss of control, not to lock away everything inside. He'd started off this adventure alone, it seemed only fitting somehow that he'd end it that way.

Perhaps that was the root of it. His fault from the start. Even those he had claimed for his own, he had failed to defend...and in trying to protect them from even themselves, it seemed he had earned their rejection. Surviving alone seemed to be a default setting for Three, and he could slowly feel himself slipping back to it. Perhaps there were good reasons...why he didn't feel naturally inclined to create a rapport with others. They would always fall away...and leave him with an empty sort of ache.

He wasn't like Fiver and Fiver II...and he never would be.

Fiver II was wallowing in his own misery when the orginal Fiver came to his aid. He peered up at the other man imploringly. He gave a slow and soft nod but his mind was on Three's words. He had messed up. He allowed the hug and shut his eyes. "I want to go home, Fiver....I want to know where home is... and just go there." He wanted to feel skin on skin. Real comfort. Not this suit. Not this mask. He kept his eyes on Three. Saw the change in posture and nudged Fiver slightly, motioning to him. He needed comfort too.

"Yea, me too ... " Fiver murmured softly. He didn't know where home was, either. And he didn't think they would every get there. They had supposedly signed up for this ... and now whatever game or test it was ... had killed them all. The end, no more. But still, even here. They had each other.

Glancing up when Fiver II nudged him, Fiver caught sight of Three just... sitting there, shoulders hunched in a bit. He was still kinda pissed at him but ... oh ******** it. Pushing up off that couch, he moved to tug Fiver II with him. "C'mon ... he didn't mean that stuff," he murmured softly.

Walking back over to Three, he reached out and put a hand on the other's shoulder. "I ... look 'm sorry, okay? I didn't mean to snap at you. I'm sure you didn't mean to snap at Fiver II either, right?" At least he'd BETTER not have meant it. And even if he had, he'd better lie about it now. >C

"Even if we're dead and ... wherever this is ... we're still together. S'all that matters at this point...."

Raising a brow at bVII as she kind of told off the two, yII jumped a bit as he heard a... familiar voice. Looking around, he tried to see where it came from but didn't see a body to put to it. Why was this voice so familiar? Scanning through what bit of memories he had, he couldn't put a face (or mask) to it either. He ended up taking a few steps away from the door as it swung open to reveal a pitch blackness on the other side.

Going through that door will bring back his memories. As tempting as it was, he wasn't quite sure if he was really ready to step into the true afterlife or whatever that darkness was.

Looking around as a handful more people showed up, yII listened to their conversation for the moment. He didn't get the full details, but from the sounds of it, something big had gone down on the island. Crossing his arms, he looked towards 'Fiver II' and motioned towards the door.

"Not exactly home, but if you go through that door over there, you're supposed to get all your memories back. There's no turning back from it though I think," he said. The group had come in after the voice so he wasn't sure if they actually overheard any of that. With that said, he turned towards bVII, "Do you think.. he was telling the truth?"

Gamma Seven didn't understand what Beta Seven was saying; those two were supposed to be dead already? They were brought back, and killed again? He just couldn't wrap his mind around the 'coming back to life' deal; that just shouldn't happen! People don't just come back to life! Luckily for him a voice filled the air before his head could get the chance to explode; it was familiar, but from where...?

That cloaked person with the scythe, maybe? Odd, he didn't see cloak nor scythe...then again, he did say he was naked. Wait...Naked?! That meant that there was someone invisible standing naked in this room?! That was just...ugh! Instead, Seven decided to focus on what was being said, and the open door that lead to nothing.

Stay here in Limbo...or go through the door and die.

It was a seriously tough choice.

The Gamma contemplated his choices, feeling an odd weight push down on his heart; one that was different from the pulled feeling that usually weighed there. His mouth felt dry as always, but...it was somehow different. He had to chose between staying memoryless and 'alive', which on it's own was a lie because he knew he died...or to actually completely end it all and remember everything. He didn't want to die, but he didn't want to not know, either. The decision was a tough one, he didn't know which to choose...

The arrival and the subsequent bickering of the newcomers pulled him from his thoughts, and he was most certainly not happy; he had a literal life-or-death senario to ponder on, and there were idiots being idiots.

"ALRIGHT LADIES," Gamma Seven bellowed suddenly, clapping his gloved hands. He was aware of their gender, but that didn't quite matter to him right now. "You're all pretty, can you move on now, please? The rest of us - Including you I guess - kind of have an important decision to make now." His masked head turned to regard Gamma Two, who had effectively taken over the rest of the information session.

Oh Gamma Two, you wonderful Leader-beast you.

"I think he is; I mean, we're all dead. There's no point to lie to us now, is there?" Gamma Seven shook his head, the tone behind the mask still grumpy over the incredibly difficult decision he was now faced with.
