Killing the engine and flicking out the kick-stand Aulus too dismounted, and pulled off his helmet. "That was bloody brilliant," he said with a broad grin, "didn't realise how much I've missed it... Did you enjoy it?" He did want the answer to be yes, but he supposed he wouldn't be crushed if she hadn't. It had been a great ride, and now there was a great beach to go run around on and take pictures of. Placing his helmet on the seat Aulus dug his camera out of the saddlebag and hung it around his neck. "I'm going down onto the beach to get some pictures," he announced, turning towards the sand, "are you coming?" He hoped she would. She might be annoying and mysterious, but she was the closest thing he had to a friend around here. It would be nice to have her company.

"I did," she said with a light chuckle. "It was fun." A lot more fun than she thought it'd be, actually, and she secretly couldn't wait to get back on whenever they decided to head back. At the mention of the word 'beach' however, her expression broadened into a grin as she unzipped and took off his jacket. "Oh, hell yeah," was her short reply while laying the jacket down near his helmet before she was jogging rather quickly to the stairs, jumping down several at a time, then finally found herself on the sand. Oh, it had been ages since she'd been to the beach.
The first thing she did, however, was to take out several pokeballs. Odette, immediately upon being released, cooed happily before taking off into the salty air - it was obvious she shared her owner's love of the beach - while Zeus merely plopped down onto the sand, clearly displeased. Alexina wasn't sure what to make of it, though she was pleased to be out and about somewhere other than the base. The water quickly caught her attention and she bounded over to it, and almost immediately began playing the 'the water can't touch my feet!' game. Blue, however, merely stared at where her feet should be, then looked up at Claire, then back at where her feet should be. Upon turning her gaze back up at her trainer, she gave her a look that quite clearly said she had no idea where her feet went, if her legs stilled worked without them, or what this stuff was that had obviously eaten them. "Vuii..?" She churred uncertainly, looking back at where her feet should be, seemingly frozen to the spot.

"Good," Aulus nodded, still grinning, "I'm glad. Wouldn't want to think I'd made your day off a drag now I appreciate how rare time off is!" He should let Tortie enjoy the sand and surf too, but the two new pokemon were staying where they were; he wanted to let them out for the first time in a controlled, enclosed environment. When he did release his Absol onto the sand, however, he didn't get the greeting he expected: instead of walking over to nudge him fondly she sat down with her back turned and her shoulders hunched.
"Well fine," Aulus scowled, his good mood taking a brief dip, "be that way, I'm going to enjoy myself, you can do whatever you like." Turning away from the huffy dark type, Aulus regarded Blue with a lopsided grin. "Not seen sand before, hu?" he asked rhetorically, kneeling down next to her and digging the sand away from around her left forepaw. "See," he chuckled, giving the paw a very gentle prod, "they're just covered is all."

"Oh, that's nice of you to care about how my day off is," she said with a light chuckle, watching as Tortie was released and proceeded to sulk. She really needed to stop being so.. so jealous and.. possessive, especially now that Aulus had two more pokemon. ..she couldn't help but be a tiny bit envious, but so far he only had Tortie so he did need more.
Zeus ambled over to the displeased Absol and flopped down on his haunches. He asked, flicking an ear and watching the other pokemon and the pair of humans disinterestedly. A pause.
Blue watched Aulus' fingers curiously, extremely tempted to chew them when they suddenly revealed her previously-eaten foot. How did he do that?! She stared at the uncovered foot, then up at Aulus, then back at her foot, gold eyes wide with amazement. "Vuii?" She churred, her tone slightly bewildered as she lifted up that foot to inspect it. She didn't want to put it back down, however, for fear of it getting eaten again, so she kept it up. Except... fwump. The clearly unbalanced little 'vee flopped onto her side and, upon noticing that all her feet were free, quickly wiggled them excitedly. "Vuiviii!" She quickly jumped back onto all fours and grinned up at Aulus, then looked down at her paws again.... or where they should have been. Where did they go?! They got eaten again?! What kind of terrain was this that constantly ate her paws? Her ears drooped and she looked up at the scar-man balefully. "Vuee.."

“I’m the sweetest most caring guy in the world,” said Aulus with a derisive snort, “didn’t you notice?... Wish I’d brought swimwear; the sea looks wonderful.” Mmmh, Claire in swimwear splashing around in the sea. Niiice.... Anyway. Turning his attention back onto Blue, the scarred man gave a snort of amusement. “Cute, but not bright,” he observed, digging the Eevee’s paws out again before burying one of his hands, lifting it out, and burying it again. “See?” he patted Blue on the head; “just lift your paws up. It’s good for digging in, too.” In order to illustrate, Aulus scooped out a small hollow in the sand beside the confused Eevee. She really was pretty adorable.
Tortie replied after a pause, lying down to put herself closer to eye level with the Pikachu. she added, a low growl emanated from the Absol’s throat, she went on, Raising her head, Tortie glowered at the elegantly wheeling Pidgeot.

"I noticed ages ago," she counted with a chuckle before turning to look at the sea. Mm, it did look nice. "Yeah, wish I did too." Maybe some other time. Right now it was nice to just relax and watch it.
The little 'vee stared in amazement. She could... move it? Following his example, she lifted her leg again and - to her amazement - her foot had been un-eaten! To make sure it still worked, she lowered that one and lifted another one, and it worked again! It was amazing. "Vuii!" She churred excitedly, then started hopping and bounding around in the sand. It didn't eat her feet! Eat? Hmm.. She paused then, peering down at the sand curiously before leaning down to sniff it. It smelled interesting, like nothing she'd ever smelled before... it smelled good. Suddenly she opened her tiny jaws and took in a mouthful of sand, got through half a chew before she spat it back out and shook her head, the look on her face clearly indicating she did not like the taste of sand, and it was extremely hard to get out of her mouth. Note to self: Don't chew stuff that eats feet.
he replied with a smirk, puffing up a bit. He was proud to shock so hard. At the mention of Odette however, he snorted a bit and leaned back. He was glad to have one against her, since it had taken a while to get her used to sharing the human again.

Perfect. Grinning to himself Aulus uncapped his camera lens and snapped away as Blue sniffed, tasted, and rejected the sand. “Not tasty,” he said with a nod, “I discovered that when I was... I don’t know, young I guess.” Settling down in the sand, the red-eyed man raised his camera and zoomed in on Odette. “Photogenic one,” he murmured in preoccupied tones, most of his concentration focused on keeping the camera steady, “do you think she’ll start showing off if she spots me? Does she know what cameras are?”
Tortie smirked and looked back at Zeus, Then maybe her human would like her better than the bird again. As for the other issue however... she went on, flicking her tail in her equivalent of a shrug,

Blue wailed unhappily and shook her head more, mouth twisting in more ways than she ever thought possible to get rid of the stuff. Finally she had the bright idea to half-curl and start to groom her tail. If anything would get that yucky stuff off, it was fur. Thankfully, it worked.
"Hmm?" Claire hummed lightly as she turned around, glancing between Aulus with his camera and Odette gliding around in the sky before smirking a bit. "Do you want her to notice you? She'll spot that camera a mile away, so if you want her to see and be a real show-off, just whistle at her, she'll hear you." If he wanted her to then he could do it himself, but if he didn't then she didn't want to spoil it. Turning back to the ocean, her violet eyes slid to the pale Glaceon prancing around at the edge of the waves. She'd stop every so often and use a weakened ice beam on them to freeze them in place, then watch them float away.
he commented with a derisive snort. That bird-brain, as annoying as she was, he had to admit she was probably twice as strong as he was. Back to humans. Actually, come to think of it, one of the females had hit the male before stalking off. Maybe that was sort of.. an anti-mating call? Huh. Humans were so weird.

Tortie flashed Zeus a smirk, like being patient, but I can be when I must be.>
"Hu? Oh, maybe in a bit," Aulus replied, "I think I'll get some candids first." Flashy show off pictures were great, but so were natural ones; some of each sounded good to him, and then some landscapes, some shots of Tortie... Who appeared to be chatting to Zeus? Hu, well, fair enough; it would probably do her good to make some pokemon friends.

Zeus simply snorted lightly and shrugged; he was too lazy to really care at the moment.
"Alright," she said, turning back to Alexina for a moment before looking at Blue. The little 'vee was bounding around the sand before suddenly pausing, leaning down to sniff at something, and would then proceed to chew it. The things usually involved rocks, seashells (whole or otherwise), and bits of driftwood. There were so many things for her to chew!

Time seemed to pass unreasonably quickly. Odette spotted him and showed off an impressive series of spins, loops, spirals, and dive-bombs. He was pretty sure he'd got at least a few good ones of her and moved onto Tortie... or tried to, the Absol just kept turning her back on him. With good pictures of her out the window he took a few landscapes, and in doing so noticed that the sun was getting lower in the sky; it wasn't too late as yet, but it was probably time to make a move.
Sighing slightly Aulus put the lens cap back on his camera and turned to Claire. "We should probably be getting back to the car," he said with a nod, "don't want it to be too late when we get back to base."

Odette was more than happy to have her picture taken, at least until Claire turned and called her back with a low whistle before addressing Aulus. "Yeah, it is getting a bit late," she agreed with a slight frown. She'd been enjoying herself too, or as much as she could without the proper beach attire. It was still fun. In a few moments, all her pokemon were returned and the balls replaced back onto her belt, then she paused to stand near her company. "She looks upset still," the black-haired woman commented with a frown. "Maybe she should ride back with you instead, I can just fly on Odette." Even though she for some reason really, really wanted to ride back on the bike.. Wait, why did she want to? Death traps, that's what they were. There was nothing fun or alluring about them at all. Nothing. ...well, maybe a teeny bit.

Aulus regarded his Absol in silence for a few moments before sighing and shaking his head. "She needs to get over it," he said firmly, "she needs to get used to the idea of..." Of not being the only person he liked to spend time with? "Of... me spending more time with other people. Now that I'm a team player and all." As the dark type turned to glare at him, Aulus fetched out her pokeball and returned her. He didn't like upsetting her, but it was something she'd have to adjust to sooner or later. "Come on then," the scarred man said with a nod, turning back to his bike, "let's make a move."

Claire would not admit to being the least bit pleased that the Absol was returned to her ball. Nope, wasn't pleased with this at all. Nope. "Alright," she agreed as a smile somehow found its way onto her face, despite the fact she was not pleased - nope, still not at all - and jogged back up to the small, sandy parking lot. She picked up his jacket and slipped it on while he got onto the bike, then got on behind him. Unlike the first time, it didn't take her a million hours of nervous deliberation or hesitation, and she easily slipped her arms around his waist securely. She wasn't eager to ride again, of course not. And she still wasn't pleased. Nope, not pleased with the outcome at all.

Thankfully it didn't take her forever to get on this time; maybe she'd decided to trust him after all. That was a nice feeling. Okay, so it only made sense that she trusted him after he'd got them here safely, but it was still nice. Once he was sure that Claire was settled being him, Aulus flicked down the visor and set off. It seemed like only moments later that they were back at the outpost, and not that long after that before they were back beside the car.
Climbing in, Aulus fastened his belt buckle and slumped back in his chair with a sigh and a yawn; it wasn't that late yet but he'd had a pretty hectic day. An early night sounded good, although he doubted it would be as good a night's sleep as he'd had last night. Maybe he should try to get Claire to fall asleep on him more often. Ha. As if.
