To say that she was surprised by the return hug was an understatement, but she wasn't going to complain. She willingly moved away from the cliff with everyone else, although her head was turned to look at the cliff as they left; she didn't understand Mac's question - the only one there when she spotted him was... Well, him.

"... Trap?" She frowned, not quite sure what to make of his words. Looking at Jericho, she nodded in agreement, "This whole island seems like a trap to me... Although I guess it might be linked to that note we found in that abandoned ship? There were presumably Amityville personnels here before us, but... Well, they're all gone. Vanished. The staff and ToTers who accompanied us here have vanished as well, right?"

Her attention soon turned to Jericho and Riley; she had figured that they were close but- ah, now not's the time. Her grip on Mac's arm did tighten a little as she forced herself to look at Mac again, frowning at his description of the girl he claimed to have seen, as well as what said girl asked him to do. With a serious expression, she nodded, "I'm glad you didn't jump." A pause quickly followed as she looked at Riley, and then back at Mac at the question; why was he leaving the decision to her? Uhhh...

"We're all heading to the lighthouse anyway," She frowned, stroking her chin as she nodded slowly, gesturing to the lighthouse a distance away, "I understand the dangers of being 'easier to pick out' but I say that's better than being 'alone and picked out', yes? I think the fog gave us a taste of that already... We're moving together." That sounded like the most logical step to her anyway.

"Petro! Sepheran! You're fine!" Her face lit up as she waved the boils over; she was sure the others must be out by now as well, "Find Mandy, Alwine and Arachne - we're moving forward!"

Then it occurred to her that Riley's group was missing someone - the plague doctor who had been Riley's partner to the Scarentine's Party. Suddenly, her being so close to Jericho didn't bother her as much anymore. Looking at Riley, she offered her a small smile, "Shall we look for Malodore first, as well? Its not safe to be alone around here!"

Oh right, introductions - turning to look at the other dragon, boil with black hair and nergal boil (hey, they're all boils!), she smiled, "I'm Lizzy! Its a pleasure - but uh, wished this introduction was done under better circumstances..." Best to know everyone, even if its only by name, now that they're stuck together, right?

Aksaja blinked when one of the ghouls he didn't know quite suddenly turned to look at them and introduced herself. Ah Jack, where were his manners? He seemed to have completely forgotten them ever since getting to this stupid island.

"A pleasure to meet you," he replied with a quick smile. "Aksaja," he introduced himself with a little bow to the ghoul.

Jericho brought a hand up briefly to wave to Aksaja, then looked over towards Mac as he continued his explanation. He couldn't help but frown at what was said there.

"I'm with you there Lizzy. This whole damn island just reeks with 'its a trap!'" he huffed, "Do you guys think there really is something at the bottom of the cliff aside from potential death? Some of us might be able to check it out, but I don't want to end up wasting time over it."

Looking around some more, he frowned as the trickle of students had ebbed at this point. Aside from Malodore, he tried to think of who else was missing right now. He thought and thought on it some more and... came up with nothing.

Oh wait. Right. Astra.

.. Eh.

"Doing alright here, Aksaja. We're just waiting to see if anyone else is going to show up. We still have a few people missing and all."

Sharra had never been so glad to see anyone in his life, as he was when Aksaja grabbed him. "Oh Jack...I am...SO crazy delighted to see you!" He murmured, as they gravitated over towards their fellow classmates, who had appeared on the edges of the fog as it cleared away. Oh good, it didn't look as though anyone was dead or bleeding or anything wondrously unpleasant like that. All but collapsing from relief, the nergal put his hands on his knees.

Oh...now there were the inevitable exchanges. Honestly, Sharra found them absolutely comforting just now, the normality of even a few silly words calming him after the near panic attack the boil had had back there in the thick of things. "Hey, Lizzy..." waving his human hand at the ghoul, he smiled wearily. "I'm Sharra...and I can say the same. But what's to be done?" Jack help him...he really hadn't a clue.

Sheridan had listened to Mac's story, tail twitching with growing unease. They were going to die anyway? He most certainly did not like the sound of that.

"I would have to agree that this whole situation was a trap from the start."

Which begs the question why did the staff bring them on this trip in the first place? Surely at least one had seen the danger? Or had they all been fooled as well? Now that he thought about it, what had happened to the instructors, or the trick or treaters for that matter? Not that he missed a missed a certain table flipping trick or treater, hmph!

His gaze had shifted to the cliff's edge, debating on Jericho's suggestion.

"It is possible, but is it worth the risk?"

It was also possible there was absolutely nothing over that cliff but a long drop with sharp rocks at the bottom, that the girl Mac had seen was nothing more than the inhabitants on this island toying with them again. In this fog, in this place, it could prove deadly for even those of them with wings to attempt to scale the cliff.

"Whatever we do, we should do it quickly. I would rather not wait around for those...things...to pick us off."

A fate worse than death.

Riley's words might come as a surprise to all the minds it suddenly touched, seeing as she had practically buried herself in hiding for the majority of the speech, but she had been listening. She had heard every word Mac said, coupled with the description of his experience, and it had all sunk in. Her mind was putting together pieces of puzzles, but so far only a few of them fit. She couldn't see the big picture, but there was one thing she could see. Something about this island was going to try and kill them.

Or worse.

She unlatched herself from Jericho's hold, and pushed the wing away. Her distant eyes became focused, and slanted.

I'm sorry. She apologized to the group, though she didn't bother to explain why. Perhaps it was for suddenly speaking up like she had, when she mused about the situation - or perhaps it was for not taking control and leading them out of this trap in the first place. She would never explain. Then she quickly moved on. Giving Lizzy a quick look that betrayed what little strength she was about to sum up, she shook her head. No. We need to get to that lighthouse, before we start getting picked off one by one. The most important thing we can learn from his experience is that there are forces at work here that believe we should die to save ourselves from a worse fate. Are they right? Perhaps, but I'm not about to lay down and give up like that. Neither should any of you.

She pointed towards the lighthouse. Let's all get moving, before it's too late.

Aksaja nodded to Sharra with a faint smile. "It's pretty damn good to see you too. I think Yaya might kill me if I managed to lose you . . . " Then he jumped just slightly when Riley suddenly spoke into his mind about 'a fate worse than death', and then summarily apologized and said they needed to keep moving.

The dragon moved up a bit nearer to Riley - glancing back to make sure Sharra was following the group as well. "What are you talking about?" he asked softly - as he hadn't been there for Mac's information. "Did something happen?"

Letting Riley move away when she pulled back, Jericho watched her carefully, wondering what was going on through that head of hers. Frowning, he looked between her and Sheridan as they spoke of moving on. He didn't want to stick around in one place for too long, but at the same time he was still worried about malodore. He could only imagine that the mindflayer's concern was considerably stronger.

With a grimace, he peered through the surrounding fog, then looked in the direction of the lighthouse.

"Hopefully the rest of our group will be able to find their way," he said before looking to Aksaja, "Basically Mac saw an apparition that tried to get him to jump off a cliff. Said something about everyone falling for the trap and that we're all going to die anyway."

As he recited this, a sneer appeared on his expression.

"I'm not about to give up to these cloaked bastards and I won't be going down without taking a bunch of them with me for that matter either," he said rather firmly.

There's more. She felt the need to explain what she hadn't told Jericho about her own experience, earlier. Every little bit of knowledge could help them all get out of here safely. When I fought the reaper, earlier. He spoke of something that this boil's experience reminded me of. He told me that there was something waiting for us here that was worse. Her eyes slit to thin strips. Worse than death. I can think of a dozen scenarios that could be worse than death, and I'd rather we not end up in any of them. In fact, I'm going to hold on to the hope that we're going to get off this island alive. With that in mind, our only chance is to get to our destination quickly.

She looked back at the fog, and her slit eyes returned to their normal size, though they clouded over and darkened. The others will find their way. We have to have some faith in them. They would do the same for us.

"I'm not about to give up to these cloaked bastards and I won't be going down without taking a bunch of them with me for that matter either," he said rather firmly.

"Liar."

A hooded figure was standing right next to Jericho, a thinner, tattered hooded apparition. It held up a hand - a bleached, skeleton white hand - and pointed towards the Amityville student's friends.

"Look at them all. Just walking around in circles, blindly, trusting a random image that some total strange dropped. You know they are doomed so you put up this facade. You lie to yourself, you tell yourself to be brave, to fight."

The fog swirled around Jericho, as the figure faded and appeared right next to him, a gleaming scythe hovering right over the dragon's neck. A sharp pain pierced Jericho's senses: his neck was bleeding from a small nick.

"I am here for you, I heard your call." The figure promised, blade steadily gleaming. "You will die here, and then you will not have to lie to yourself any more. This is what you wished for in the deepest part of your heart, after all."

Hearing a new voice, Jericho turned to see who was calling him a liar only to find one of the cloaked figures standing there. His eyes widened for a moment out of surprise, but he quickly glared at the thin figure, growling lowly as well.

"We are not doomed," he hissed lowly, though it was hard to completely believe that thought. This whole thing was a trap right? One that apparently got the whole school.

Grabbing his wooden sword, flames appeared at the blade as a result of his FEAR. He was ready to try and strike this reaper, but froze as he felt the other's scythe p***k his neck. He could feel his hot blood trickle down. Gritting his teeth with a sense of uncertainty, he glanced over at the others, wondering if they would do anything, then looked back at the stranger.

"I'm not going to die here. And don't you dare talk like you know me," he growled, "You and the rest of your friends can go shove it. I am jacking tired of these little games."

But what could he do with the blade right at his throat like this? His firebreath was disabled and just about any other action would likely be too slow to act out.

Aksaja blinked at the explanations and then actually rolled his eyes. He rather agreed with the other dragon boil in this case. "Worse than death? Trying to get us to jump off cliffs? Seems a little . . . melodramatic." Or whatever.

Frowning, he thought back to the cloaked figure that had shown up in the forest back at school. "Didn't one of these guys show up before? Talked about harvesting our FEAR?" he pointed out. "Maybe they want us to be scared. To . . . FEED their weapons, or something." He looked around at everyone, then glared off into the fog.

"WELL GUESS WHAT? I'M NOT SCARED. AND I'M NOT GONNA BE SCARED! NOT OF SOME IDIOT CLOAKED GUYS WHO WON'T EVEN SHOW THEIR FACES!" He huffed softly, folding arms over his chest. "So don't worry about them. We just have to get to the lighthouse and find the signal. That's all."

She dipped her head at each of the newly acquainted boils, trying to be polite despite the circumstances before turning to the white haired dragon with a frown, "Judging from what Mac said, I'm afraid there is nothing down there but death - it was trying to so call 'provide an easy death' to him." She then inhaled sharply at Riley's words before nodding, breaking into a small smile, "I never had any intention to die - and I think everyone is in agreement as well!"

Before she could say anymore - especially since she didn't want to leave anyone behind, to advance or not, Jericho said something suddenly, causing her to look in his direction.

"... Jericho?" She frowned, "Is something wrong?"

"Oh, did I say 'going to die?'", the voice responded despondently, "I meant, you all are already dead. And I don't mean poof! Back to Halloween dead. I mean gone, permanently. Fear dissipated. Forever." They paused. "But I see I'm confusing you. I'm sure you have no clue what that feels like, how about I give you a first hand demonstration?"

There was a sickening crunch and a blinding white pain.

"Okay, step one, sever the Fear."

The dragon was looking at his own decapitated body.

Riley didn't particularly like the idea of Aksaja yelling into the fog, especially since he sounded like he was taunting those same reapers that kept coming at them. She knew she would have appreciated it a day ago.. but not now. Not when all she wanted was to get out of here as quickly, and efficiently, as possible.

Still, she said nothing. She slung her backpack higher on her shoulder, and paused as she heard Jericho's low voice. At first, she wasn't surprised to hear him demand that they weren't doomed. He was always thinking positive and never giving up. It was something she admired.

What she was surprised about, was how his sword had suddenly burst with flame.

His words, however, were not as much of a surprise as they were a cold, hard slap in the face. Her eyes widened at his scathing reply. Don't talk like she didn't know him? She and her friends could go SHOVE IT?

He was tired of HER GAMES?

The backpack slid down onto the ground. A cloud of dust puffed around it when it hit.

What. The HELL. Are you talking about. Riley growled at her best friend. She eyed his sword carefully. And what are you planning to do. Kill me yourself?

She had no idea that he wasn't talking to her. And his words had just cut her so deep, that things were starting to become a lot clearer.

And a lot more painful.
