I think my biggest problem was I didn't have a wide enough type coverage. Wide, but not wide enough - one or two glaring weak spots. That's something maybe I should look into addressing... having your electric eel out on the first turn was immediately a bash, because I have no counter to it and so it immediately set me off on the wrong foot!
I also think now maybe I should replace Bounce with Acrobatics on my Mienshao. Bounce has saved me more than once before, but seeing the damage your Simipour did with it was unreal o___o

Acrobatics is twice as powerful if the user doesn't have a hold-item (which Simi didn't), so base power 55 doubled to 110. Bounce (or Fly, for that matter) does let you dodge an opponent's attack if fast enough, but it also broadcasts what's about to hit. Because of that, opponents are able to switch to pokemon that can better handle the hits (like I did), though at the risk of paralysis (which happened both times in our case)
EDIT: I should also mention, the reason I picked Eelektross was because of its ability: Levitate. So even if you had a guard against his electric attacks, his sole type weakness would still be untouchable unless you force an ability switch (some attacks can do that for you, as can the Mummy ability)

For competition Acrobatics definitely seems like the better choice... well, I dunno, it's all circumstantial. The matches I've played with people so far (about five?) have often come down to circumstance and chance irrespective of the power of the pokemon, which has usually been even.
I can understand TRG's complaint about people just spamming the most powerful moves irrespective of strategy, but I dunno, I think it comes down to a combination of power, smarts and more than a bit of luck.

I agree, it's all case-by-case. Even if there isn't an explicit counter for a team, there's always something that can go wrong, be it a lucky critical hit, a move missing its mark, or not dealing quite as much damage as hoped (I honestly expected your Absol to knock out Braviary with that Swords Dance boosted Night Slash; sheer luck that it didn't, even if it did just end up getting shot out of the sky by your Mienshao)

Yeah, Absol usually comes through for me, with Swords Dance I've had her pretty much rip through stuff before. I feel like Volcarona and Lilligant didn't really get their chance to shine - Volcarona is another rip-through-team-er, and Lilligant's moveset is just damn annoying XD
Letting Mismagius suicide probably wasn't the best move, either, though at least Grudge got rid of Crunch. I'm always in two minds about Grudge, because in matches against real people suicide never seems the smartest option. In my other matches I found that healing was better than reviving, mainly because it's more economical when you use the launcher. But at the same time it (Grudge) catches people off guard and can destroy an opponent who just plans on using one insanely powerful move.
I DUNNO, so much to think about XD

Yeah, I agree. When the Grudge activated, I was like "crap... at least Crunch is more of a back-up move than a key one." If you had caught Thunderbolt with it, I'd have been much more upset xd
Well, I had a great time playing today. I'm gonna go grab some dinner, then hunt down my game's Kyurem once the sun goes down (Dusk Balls FTW). Let's play again soon!
And anyone else who has Black/White, post your Friend Codes too and join in!

I'm ready whenever you'd like, unless you want your Zorua egg hatched before trading. If you want it hatched, I'll need to run around in circles a few times sweatdrop (weekends are best for me, since I don't have to worry about work hours throwing me off)
...though... I will need your Friend Code.

I've traded eggs in the older gens... no reason to believe it wouldn't work this time around.
EDIT: I'm still working on getting the YouTube clip (camera died), but I did manage to upload it into the GTS Battle Video thing.
It's Video 41-55345-22117. You can watch by going to the upper floor of any pokemon center and talking to the attendant next to the globe. Once in, just search for the video and play.

For the trainers not already aware, Musharna can be caught in the Dreamyard on Fridays after you complete the main storyline. Since Friday starts shortly, I thought I'd mention it.

::comes out of hiding:: Oh lookie, a Pokemon thread. I'm currently fiddling with the post story of Pokemon Black myself, my first game clear was March 24th (I got it a week after the official release date to avoid getting trampled by rabid fans). The ending made me wibble so much... ;.;

@Steli: Welcome to the TBO Pokemon Center smile Most of us have White Version, so if you wanted to trade for the Version Exclusives, you have plenty of options here to trade for.
I just went back through the Elite Four a second time, and faced Alder for the first time... Quite the battle, with his team in the mid-70s. I was also able to take down Cynthia in the beach town (I forget the name at the moment), and Morimoto in Castelia City, each having teams as strong as Alder's... mrgreen
A little more work with this team, and I'll start working on my Cross Gen team... not sure how it'll break down yet, though... sooooooo many options to work with now...

Ahh, Morimoto
that was an awesome fight, though I still need to redo the E4 and beat Cynthia...last try at 3 levels ago, I should try again soon (average 71 now)
I like training in the sports stadiums, everyone's a pretty consistent level, and sometimes you get good items from the people (the doctor has a 65-66 Audino and gives out Max revives!)

I'm currently training my team and travelling the new areas of the region. I've only got like 2 more routes and a bridge to see before I just keep training until I'm strong enough to beat Morimoto, Cynthia and the powered-up Elite Four and Champion.
Can't wait to get some of the older Pokemon and start switching things up! 83
