++Squad 4 Guard: Lux of the White Rose++

Shalrien had descended the stairs and ordered Shade some food. She had then inquired about what he'd said a few days earlier. A slight shade of crimson washed over his face as he thought about it. Before he could speak Lady Mayu returned with another girl, he assumed she was the new handler. She bowed low. Lux responded with a bow of his own, " I am Lux of the White Rose." He said as he rose from the bow.

Iren Loun

'Irene'

Iren nodded to them both as they introduced themselfs, stepping forward slowly to take Shalrien's hand in greeting.
She turned quickly, still slightly wary of the massive cat as it rubbed her. Iren slowly smiled and lifted her arm to scratch under her neck, in reponce Shade lifted her head in enjoyment.
"Shes pretty" Iren commented to Shade and her owner, smiling as she stroked her smooth fur.

Iren eventually stopped and looked back to her squad,
"This is my first time being a Handler though i'll do my best" she said slightly worried she'd screw up somehow. Straighterning up, Iren turned slightly serious,
"Have we any orders as a squad or missions?" she asked, wondering if they we're in one or not.
Come to think of it, why did Mayu need a new Handler? She haddent a clue but was slightly afraid to offend there situation so she remained quiet.

Shalrien and Shade
Guard and unofficial guard of Squad 4

User Image"Hear that? Someone finally thinks you're pretty." Sharlien teased Shade, getting swatted with a large paw in response as Shalrien laughed. Once Iren asked if they had any missions, Shalrien shook her head. "None yet, though I imagine we'll be getting our next assignment by the end of the day at the latest." She said as she got back on her barstool, yawning slightly.

Squad 4's Vestec

Mayu noticed how Lux had turned crimson before evening out, but for now, she was just happy to see everyone getting along fine. She laughed a little when Shade started, smiling as she fixed the pin in her hair. Good. As she expected, things would be fine. No strange looks or questions. Then again, why should she have expected that? It was expected of them in their line of work to accept whatever handler they received or anything.

Her brown eyes drifted to Iren, tilting her head as she saw her nerves lessen slightly, glad to see that she was relaxing. She'd do just fine. As long as she didn't find it too weird to kiss another girl. The other boys seemed to enjoy that image those perverts. Growing distant, she thought of the strange relation she had had with Mal, wondering if it would end up the same for her and Iren. She knew they would be friends, at the very least colleagues. Mal had found her before though, she didn't quite have to go through the line-up she did this time. And true, the last times she had kissed girls was on the cheek, or just a hairs breath away from their lips to demonstrate what happened to her people when young ones asked her what happened. It had been a group of the young adults like her that taught them, and they had asked what happened when they went away.

She blinked, snapping out of her thoughts before she delved any deeper into her worries about her people, glancing between her complete team. "They'll probably give us a little time to get used to each other before sending us out again. Shalrien's right, probably by the end of the day." She agreed, glad that Iren hadn't asked why they needed a new handler. At least, not in front of Shalrien and Lux. Thats right, I need to perform the last of the rite.... One of the nights as they had been traveling to the capital, she had sung the second part of the funeral rites, the song of celebration to their life. She'd have to make sure the others didn't notice her absence for an hour or so. She didn't want to upset her guards even if they may appreciate the gesture.

~Senel Krusis~
User Image

Senel stood just over Amaya gripping his katana tightly as he surveyed Gondin and Rosa's fight. The large man swung his deathly swords with intimidating force lifting his victims several feet into the air while his other teammate used her superb speed and agility to incapacitate her enemies permanently. His troop was surely something else.

He stood momentarily stunned as the remaining deathwalkers began taking their original appearance. Their black bodies wavered back and forth like a snake would do just after striking its prey and their claws extended to unnatural lengths with their crimson red coloring demanding blood. They turned their attention towards Amaya who was now seemingly exhausted from keeping her powers activated for so long.

"Here we go," Senel breathed as two of the deathwalkers began their simultaneous attack against him. Arching his arms back Senel unleashed a brutal horizontal slash that managed to stopped the monster's attack. The young teen followed up by leaping into the air and swinging vertically towards one of them while the other recovered. His attack managed to slice one of the deathwalker's arms off, but it counter attack with its other claw successfully slashing Senel's back leaving four clean deep cuts. The young silver haired teen roared in pain and used the adrenaline to fuel his anger and numb away the pain. Raising his katana once more he managed to penetrate the monster's defense and stabbed it in the chest following up with horizontal strike that managed to slice it in half. Making sure the deathwalker was dead he turned towards the other one who had made its way towards Amaya while he was distracted.

"Amaya!" Senel shouted before taking his katana and flinging it towards the creature as if it was a lance. The sword managed to strike through the deathwalker's head much to Senel's relief. He dashed towards the creature and grabbed the hilt of the sword using the momentum to slice the head clean off for an assured kill. Turning towards Amaya he kneeled down using his sword as a cane to maintain himself upright. He could feel the warm blood trickling down his back drenching his shirt, but he disregarded it. His thoughts lay on Amaya and how foolish he had acted leaving her unprotected like that. He couldn't find the strength to even look at her at that moment. Instead he turned towards the battle and managed to pull himself up clenching his sword tightly as he took a defensive stance.

Gondin
Squad 12's Guard

User Image

Gondin noticed the shift in tactics of his opponents to a more intelligent and defense oriented set. They were actually interested in self preservation, which he always found astounding.

If he kept attacking recklessly he was going to get hurt. So he decided to change his tactics as well.

Gondin rushed in to the group of deathwalkers nearest to Amaya and Senel. The kid was handling himself well enough, but Gondin had cringed as he watched him fling the sword in to a monster. It may have been necessary, and ultimately successful, but a swordsman never disarms himself. It's just asking to get killed.

The deathwalkers saw him coming and were as prepared for his ferocious offense as they could be. As he came in, they moved swiftly to encircle him and all stayed just outside the reach of his swords. Gondin played out the ferocious act only until he got confirmation of the deathwalkers own offensive tactic. A claw ripped in to his back from just out of his field of vision, and he grunted the pain away and immediately changed his stance.

The deathwalkers were employing an extremely effective form of pack fighting, but being the martial artist he was, Gondin had gone out of his way practicing against just such a tactic. He had wielded practice wooden swords, and had any number of young warriors in training circle him with swords of their own. He had offered a night of drinking on him should they land a blow. While he had lost quite a bit of coin to that offer, he had gained valuable experience.

The attacks came faster, each one either meant to be a distraction, or one meant to take advantage of said distractions. But to him, it was just another practice session.

He maintained a tight stance, one that kept his blades close to him, making the parrying cross cuts as blindingly fast as possible. The one downfall the deathwalkers had to deal with was having natural weapons. There was something to be said for always being armed and ready for a fight. But it was quite the disadvantage to have your arm parried by Gondins whirling blades. He chuckled to himself, it wasn't as much parrying as it was disarming them. Literally.

His defense wasn't flawless, and he took another few solid hits; enough to begin worrying him but he pushed aside that fear. The howling cries of deathwalkers filled the air in a matter of minutes and their attacks slowed to a complete stop, apparently deciding that the counterattacks were simply too devastating to continue risking.

Gondin began feeling confident again and was about to take them by surprise with another reckless assault when a huge weight slammed in to his back. It only took him an instant to realize that a deathwalker had hurtled off the roof of a nearby building. It had hurt to be sure, but wasn't anything truly worrisome.

The problem was that he was face first on the ground in the center of a horde of deathwalkers.

Amaya
Squad 12's Vestec

User ImageThe Vestec watched, completely helpless as her friends tried to kill the Deathwalkers and protect her at the same time. Amaya hated feeling so useless. She just nodded in thanks to Senel when he came to save her, though he couldn't even bring himself to look at her. Amaya hung her head quietly, trying to keep control over her powers as the fight continued around her. But then she looked up and saw that Gondin was in serious trouble. Rosa was not nearby, Senel was busy protecting her, but no one was nearby to help Gondin. As the deathwalkers encircled him, the Vestec stopped thinking and let out a burst of energy, distracting the deathwalkers, though that wasn't her original plan. "GONDIN!" She yelled, trying to get him to respond before he was injured, though she wasn't sure if he would in time or not. The deathwalkers however, had responded, and turned back towards the Vestec, one breaking past Senel with its speed and slamming Amaya into the trunk of a nearby tree. The second her body hit the trunk, Amaya's powers ceased, allowing the deathwalkers to conceal themselves again if they chose. As Amaya began to drop from the trunk, the deathwalker that had knocked her away was already there, pinning her against the tree still with a clawed hand at her throat.

Rosa Zabójca
Squad 12's Guard

User Image

Rosa had been busy taking care of the group furthest from there, cutting down the last one when she heard Senel, then felt the thump as Gondin hit the ground. Darting back, she threw some needles to distract a couple of others that were getting idea's, her eyes widening when she heard and saw Amaya move. You idiot!

Gritting her teeth, she felt the wind whip past her as she turned into a blur, jumping off the ground. She propelled herself further by the Deathwalkers that were closing in, their close numbers giving her the perfect lane to her destination. Shifting her grip on her spear, her eyes glinted as the blades licked with fire, roaring as she threw it forward. It whistled through the air, stabbing into the Deathwalkers head, the horizontal blades burying themselves into its skull. The vertical blade protruded only slightly out of its head, a shriek of pain, frustration, and rage ringing in the air.

Rosa now had drawn her dagger, practically on top of the creature as it lurched backward, the flames enveloping the monsters body. It hadn't had the time to change its form back, so she didn't worry of it. No, what she was worried about was the condition of their Vestec. Though disoriented and in pain, the Deathwalker was not done yet. It spun around on her, furious that its prize had been denied him, lunging into her. The wind was knocked from her as they slammed into the ground, blinking before she realized it held her still flaming spear above her. Ducking her head to the left, it missed, her fingers tightening on her dagger. She stabbed it into the monsters neck, swallowing a scream of pain as it stabbed its fingers into her shoulder, but it exploded into dust.

Panting, she caught her spear and pushed herself up, sheathing her dagger so she could throw more needles. Letting them fly, she kept some of the people/monsters that were starting to come towards them, standing squarely in front of Amaya. Now that the immediate threat was taken care of, she let the flames die down, pressing the hot metal to the wounds in her shoulder, again withholding any shout or indication of pain. No need to make Amaya feel more helpless than she did. Straightening up, she spun her spear to the left then right, falling into a defensive stance as her free hand grabbed more needles. The numbers were thinning for now, at least offering some relief in that fact.

Iren looked up towards her new found Vestec and smiled slightly,
"I guess thats good, since we'll be of use so soon" she said thinking about her words as she said them.
'I probably should have asked about the team background to the elders' she thought to herself not knowing anything about any of them. She'd hear that some Handlers had receved a bad time from there new squad, dispite there bond between the Vestec.
Iren frowned slightly in thought as she remembered the basic rules of a Handler. 'I guess there not really useful untill you become a real handler' she thought, suprised at how hard it was to remember it all.

Shalrien and Shade
Guard and unofficial guard of Squad 4

User ImageAs Shalrien grabbed her glass to take another drink of water, a messenger burst into the room. "Squad four?" They called, and Shalrien lazily raised her hand, beckoning the messenger over. "Headquarters has a mission for you." He said before handing Shalrien a scroll and leaving. With a great sigh, Shalrien looked at everyone before opening the scroll. "It seems that the town of Nbega has hired the organization to investigate on recent killings there. There have been five deaths in the last month and all bodies were torn apart. It's suspected that only one deathwalker is there." She murmured before rolling up the scroll. "Well, it should be a nice warm up mission for our new squad. Nice change since our last..." She said before falling silent, her gaze dropping to the floor.

Mayu Nikita
Squad 4's Vestec

User Image

Mayu's ears perked up as she heard the messenger before he burst into the room, glancing to him as he came over. Taking a deep breath, she readied herself for whatever type of mission they got. Some could be easy, some could be hard. She doubted that HQ would give them something too hard considering what had just happened. At least, she hoped they didn't.

And she was proven correct as Shalrien read their orders aloud to them. She called up a smile and touched her guards' shoulder as she looked at her team mates. "Well! We'd better hit the road hm? We wouldn't want HQ to think we're abusing this kindness they've given us." She spoke, trying to keep things cheerful, giving Shalrien's shoulder a small, hopefully comforting squeeze. It would take some time for everyone to adjust and move on, it was just a fact of life. Maybe they never would. But who knew?

Clasping her hands behind her back, she then darted upstairs to gather their things, doing her best to maintain the more cheerful attitude.

Iren turned to see a messanger run into the room. She looked towards Shalrien who opened the scroll and read it out. They all seemed to approve of this mission though Iren had never even seen a real deathwalker before, let alone faught against one.
But, the elders wouldn't have allowed her to leave if she was so 'usless' to the squad. Iren was almost the most skilled of the Handlers, as she trained hard even if she did skip her work.

Iren looked up again, and to Shalrien who mentioned 'last time'. Clearly something had gone wrong that time, she wanted to ask but Shalriens expression was one she knew not to question.
She turned back and half smiled akwardly as Mayu suggested that they should leave, as she run to gather there items. She stood and watched, following them out to the horses as they loaded the belongings and essentails onto there horses backs. Whereas hers was already on Calicos back, she rubbed his nose slightly as she waited, contemplating weither she should offer assistance or if she'd get in the way.
