Mystics are... pretty friggin broken IMO. Either that or the Earthguard starting area is a lot nicer than the Untamed.

I'd suspect the newer classes just have nicer starting areas, but I don't know for sure. I know the Tideborn have some really wonky starting quests (their FB19 isn't even a real FB), not to mention the weird 'Weapon Token' stuff (which is probably unnecessary for Earthguards, since they just use Swords and Magic Weapons - right?). It seems that even 'hardcore' games are starting to realise that pushing players through the early levels quickly is going to catch a lot more users than forcing the grind will. That is to say, you catch more players with honey. wink
Anyhow, you're trying out the Mystic - and you think it's better than the Veno? gonk Venos were supposed to be decidedly the best solo class available; this new development worries me... whee

Well, it might get harder later, but for now at least it certainly seems like I'm killing stuff a lot easier.

Quiet in here the past couple days. sweatdrop
I know I haven't been doing much, as I've been trying to focus on shaping up my vector art experience. I was working on the version 2.0 of the Hive Queen, but it managed to close without saving, and making it the second time seemsly vastly less exciting than making it the first. whee I'll probably make a thread before too long for something-or-other, though - I know something sparked my interest in the forums recently, but for the moment I just can't seem to remember what it was. sweatdrop
Anyhow, where is everyone?

At least people aren't really acting that violently yet about the gold nerf. They really need understanding that it is still being fixed(or something) though. o3o

Reglare Excile At least people aren't really acting that violently yet about the gold nerf. They really need understanding that it is still being fixed(or something) though. o3o Maybe not toward you, anyhow. Apparently a vocal defense of the gold nerf (in the "Official Gold Nerf Thread", mind you) is an act of treason, punishable by death. Or trolling. One of the two. sweatdrop
I do agree that it's in need of some fixing, though. And, even more importantly, some explanations; why is it affecting more than that 1% they claimed? How does it actually work? And why wasn't it actually announced in the forum, or in the game? I was actually a lot more supportive of the nerf before they'd implemented it. Not it just seems... Shady. neutral
It's quieted down some, though, so I think I'm going to slink off to bed before it picks up again... whee

Eh, expected a some of them to troll since I've seen some of them do so at times, even at dev meets. Could be another code glitch though, another one of those moments when one of the features go out of hand. Still, at what was stated in the dev notice(the devs may have been dependent on the dev notice so they haven't done the announcement in the forum at least) the gold grants are still to be tweaked.

I've been logging in to gaia few times lately due to real life. So the nerf is in place now and talking about it in a positive fashion is a death wish? Who didn't see that coming? Tangocat has noticed that gold rewards drop as low as 1/10th the original value. that's quite steep, but probably what had to be done as well. What I'm not liking is that, apparently, doing sEB will make the nerf affect other Boss Lairs as well, and it goes the other way around. Isn't that a bit unfair? Yes, I believe the nerf is Shady as well, if anything, because it wasn't explained to us at all. edit: Allthough, I'd say some are pinning it down. 100k seems a good point to start the nerf.

The nerf does seem unnecessarily blunt or even antagonistic (in affecting more people and having a steep and noticeable curve), even though I don't see it actually having a bad real effect on anybody. I hope they can tinker with it soon to make it smoother, less noticeable, and more detailed (having things be area specific makes it more of "don't just do one thing all the time" rather than "don't play the game too long" - perhaps even increasing people's experience because they move around through the game more, even if the actual cap isn't much higher).
It might be that the overall site mention of the gold changes might have been considered the right announcement, especially since nobody wants to go up and make a cheery infographic "Gold Drops Nerfed Today! For a limited time, get the full nerf until it's tweaked a bit!"

Honestly, all I really want is some developer feedback on it. zOMG! is usually extremely open with their Community about things like this, but they're behaving a lot more like Gaia proper in this regard - they're just not saying anything.
5 or 10 minutes after [ JK ]'s meet yesterday, he actually came back just to tell us. He said they were doing the nerf today, but it would only affect 1% of players. He seemed genuinely excited that the majority of the zOMG! userbase wouldn't be unnecessarily affected. When we asked him for more details, he said that he expected swarf would make a post about it after it happened. None of that seems to have worked out, though.
I can understand why they wouldn't want to make the announcement that they'd nerf'd gold drops, but they really needed to. zOMG!, more than any other part of this site, relies on its Community, which includes the developer-player relationship. And I thought all of our devs understood that... neutral

People might also have forgotten that this is now the weekend, and it will be Monday before Gaia returns to the office and sees the havoc their nerf has wrought.

Speaking of Nerfs and dev input: http://www.gaiaonline.com/journal/?mode=view&u=8357925Quote: So, the issue with zOMG was different. It wasn't a botting problem, but an issue with entirely too much gold being given out. So, what we did today was this: - take everyone that played the game yesterday (about 12k people) - sort them - look at how much the top 1% made - made that the cutoff, and reduce gold payouts once you hit cutoff So... they based the nerf... On a single day of play on a random number they chose (1%)? Shouldn't they have chosen, like, an entire week's worth and then done an average? I know it would probably not change a thing, but this way, it sounds like the change was done with very little thought given to it. It's as if they just pushed it trough Friday in an hurry to check on the weekend's result! also, that person seems to confirm the 100k theory. Still, we need to figure out how 1/2 grant goes down to as bad as 1/10.
