ZonkotheSane jewangel ZonkotheSane jewangel ZonkotheSane jewangel thats ok she grew up in israel and since at the time she was orthodox she decided not to have one now though she is conservitive. if it was up to me i would have had it at the conservitive shul when i was 12just to make her happybut i couldnt and i didnt really want to lead sevices but i did. i'm not here to preach (cuz kia'll eat my head rolleyes ), but there is something not quite right there. but only from my point of view. we all have our different believes and choices of course. poeple have the right to be wrong. it's called "free will". just because i believe that something is craven, stupid, obnoxious, and hypocritical doesn't mean that everyone else has to. thats so true thanks. biggrin i'm just curious, but which part did you mean? everything

ZonkotheSane KishoTenshi Hmm I was required to attend a certain amount of friday night and saturday morning services, in which I lead them as well.
Mhm my Torah portion was from Leviticus, I had the same one as my sister which was odd..
lol that was 3 years ago and I still remember it.
I was not allowed to have a party though and at the time I hated my dad for it but I now understand why he was so dead set against it. It was because he said it's not about the part, it's about becoming a woman. When I was in Israel I didn't have a party ,I just had a simple service. Mhm atm I'm still a little mad at him for it but meanwhile I can see his point and where he is coming from ^^
Lemme tell you I did better than every kid in my class on my Haftorah..lol I think it's because I was the most dedicated.. some dude is rolling in his grave..... stare What...

Come on, people- this isn't a "Pick on Zonko" thread.
Please get back on topic and be nice! xp
Kisho: What I think Zonko was trying to say earlier, is that having a party, while totally awesome and something to look foward to, isn't the real reason to have a bar/bat mitzvah; I think he was rather upset that today's society values the party rather then the service and the meaning behind it.
Also, I don't think he read your entire post where you said you understood your dad's view 3nodding xp
EDIT: Then again, we rarely ever stay on topic in most threads xd
