"Finally finished !" Desiree exclaimed to a now empty classroom. She read everything, done correcting the assignments and would post a notice soon about everyone's results. Tallying up everything would take time but at least things were looking good. This first time wasn't so bad, some students had different or same answers as others. She admired her hard-working young wizards and witches. She was glad there wasn't too much problems in her class, although she wished it could more lively now and then. Were they so afraid to speak up ? Again, history of magic didn't get enough credits.
The bell rang, announcing the start of a new chance to learn ! She smiled at all her students. Desiree hoped they were ready."Greetings to all ! I've had my mind cleared on certain subjects for your future exams. Don't feel panicked. I want to warn you there will be a test for all of you about what we covered earlier about the Wizard's Council. Before I reveal to you our next lesson; we'll begin with our last assignment." With a flick of the wand, the question appeared on the board.
Beings: What defines them ? What is the difference between a Being and a Beast ?
"Most of you did your research. Can somebody share me their personal opinion ? What they can think of off the top of their heads ? You don't have to tell us what you wrote but just your own point of view."

Gryffinclaw Quidditch Captain Sparrow was sitting down when she received her mark. She was content with it and thought she perhaps could have done better but she can't get perfect scores all the time. Sparrow the heard professor ask if anybody wanted to share their opinion, so Sparrow raised her hand and said, "I believe a being is a creature that possess a sufficient amount of intelligence to understand the laws and has enough logic and smarts to help in the process of creating the laws. And the differences between Beasts and Beings is that well basically beasts are the opposite they are unintelligent and often times cannot even speak a common language, and are unable to understand the laws set down." Sparrow had tried to word it differently from her assignment and thought it sounded okay when it came out. Sparrow waited for a response quietly.

Gryffinclaw Quidditch Captain As Sparrow heard Daemon speak she said,"Well yes you should treat them the same, but perhaps not for the running of a country. Would you want an unintelligible creature running your country and creating your laws?"

"Sorry, but I don't keep up on muggle events. And yes a Centaur is a capable intelligent being and are logical. A house elf on the other hand would take a while to even adjust to that thinking. Their mindset has been to serve their family for the longest of time, which is unjust might I add, but they would take years to adjust to being free and making their own decision." Sparrow seemed consistent with her beliefs and would not sway on her stance on the subject.

Harmony sat down in the front, she listened to her classmates response, and smiled a bit when Sparrow spoke. Harmony was slighly annoyed (not that it showed on her face) at the Hufflepuff's comment. She crossed her arms before speaking up herself.
"Beings can change things. They offer up a different point of view and cultures, they have a way of thinking and living that's not human. Perhaps they can find solutions we cannot not to troubling issues we face as magical beings. By inculding them in the Ministry were not just limited by the human condition." Harmony nodded towards Daemon before saying
"Centuars could be Beings they're intilligent enough, they chose not to have Being status. Labels and predjuce led their decision."

Heart ponders for a long time. "I noted that Sparrow, you said that centaurs would also be counted as a 'Being' because of their intelligence, yet you, Harmony, contradicted it by saying that they chose not to have Being status...are you saying that if somehow, the Ministry is not of humans, or Homo sapiens sapiens, and if we were to be called 'intelligent' enough, and if we decline the 'Being status,' then we would not be considered a 'Being'?"
She pauses.
"In addition, since some dragons are able to speak the human tongue, would they be considered 'Beings,' for they seem to be knowledgable enough to 'find solutions we cannot.' Yet, I believe they head under the 'Beast' category why is this so?"
She pauses once more.
"And finally, in Professor's lecture, it seems that the best definition of a 'Being' was made by Elfiga Clagg. 'Beings who spoke the human tongue. All those who could make themselves understood to Council members were invited to join the next meeting.' In this 'definition of hers' she stated that a 'Being' was a 'Being who spoke the human tongue,' unless I misunderstood. According to logic and whatnot, a good definition should not use the word in its definition, since it would not fully define the term. Then what is a Being? Would the definition imply that a 'Being' is some creature being able to speak the human tongue?"
Heart barely takes the time to take a breath.
"Further on in the lecture, Professor stated that even Clagg's definition had some problems. Even some of those who could speak the human tongue was not what the Ministry defining a 'Being'? What is to be made of this, that perhaps they are only looking for (human) witches and wizards?"
The girl blinks at her rant. She rarely spoke this much at a time.

Seventh year Slytherin prefect Daemon nodded at the muggle politics comment. Since there was never any dueling, it DID bore people. Even muggles. His eyes flicked to the Hufflepuff as he spoke. Daemon shook his head. "I'm not saying it would. I'm saying that we class beings as our equals, yes?" He smirked faintly at the comment, "but we don't have any in the ministary. A beast, by what our glorious government teaches us, is a creature infeior to humans by result of NOT being a human, yet able speak, and walk, with the ability to also have a sense of what we refer to as self control."
