(I am posting my essay here because I am going to the library to print it and my computer does not print, and I tried emaling papers to myself and they have gotten lost before in email believe it or not.

In the poem My Last Duchess by Robert Browning, Browning writes from the perspective of a duke who has murdered his wife. The duke misses his wife in a strange way, shown by his reminincing of her. The duke in Browning's poem is jealous of the attention his dead wife recived, he misses her, and at the same time he is also proud of killing her. The portriat of the duke's dead wife serves two purposes. The first purpose of the portrait is so that the duke may gaze at the passion in his wife's eyes, and now the portrait is all his and he does not have to share it with other men. The second purpose of the portrait is to boast and brag that he killed and destroyed this proud woman who did not conform to his wishes. Even though in life she showed attention to others, now that he had her portrait and she was dead, she had no choice in whom she looked at or smiled to. He had sole control over who saw the portrait and enjoyed her smile.
The duke was very jealous for his wife's attention. The duke wanted his wife to favor him above3 others, and he is also jealous of the male attention that his wife recieved. The duke commented on some cherries that a man brought to her. The duke did not like the fact that people got gifts for his wife, as he called the man a officioius fool. The duke only wanted his attentins toward his wife recognized, but his wife smiled at and appriciated gifts from others. The duke commented on how his wife ranked the gift of being married into his family equally with other gifts that were given to her.
The duke may have been jealous of his wife but he also misses her prescense. The duke commented on how he favored her. The duke invites the reader to sit and look at her portrait, and he remarks on what a wonder her painting is. The duke even commented on the depth and passion his wife's glance possesses. The duke also speaks of how his precense was not the only thing that made her happy. He misses her passion and depth but he wanted it for himself.
Despite missing his wife, the duke is also proud and happy that he killed her. The duke states that he did not have skill in speech, and that even if he spoke to her about what he did not like, his wife would make a excuse. The duke did not want his wife explaining herself and making him feel foolish, and he proudly stated that he would not stoop by letting her make a excuse. The tone that the duke uses in the last paragraph is very causual yet boastful. He spoke to his guest about how he gave the command to end her life and she stopped smiling the smile that she shared with everyone. She stopped sharing the smile that he wanted only for himself. The portrait is a reminder of his dead wife, but it is also a trophy, much like how a hunter mounts up on the wall the head of a animal that he killed.)

Kyo linked his arm with her and escorted her to the grocery store.

Kyo shivered. "No leeks, whatever it happens to be" Tohru loved to cook those dreaded leeks

Kyo smiled at her blushing. "That sound amazing, I like when people are creative with ramen, ramen alone is gross. I think it was made for people to create new recipes around it.

Kyo gently brushed her cheeks where she blushed.

Kyo smiled at the word kitten. Even though he would usually hate being called a kitten. He then looked towards the old woman, while talking to Ami. "I am thinking tea and some fish" He wondered whether to tell Ami what was on his mind. "Hey, Ami, I have been thinking..... Did you know that when I reach a certain age, I have to stay in a room made for the car? Permanently?" (Sorry university is crazy. Trying to keep my 4.0)

Kyo explained "The cat is the one animal that is not part of the original zodiac. The cat is to be locked away forever after a certain age"

Wow, this girl was determined. She was a strong woman. Why did the author of fruits basket ever have him be with Tohru in the manga? Kyo liked strong women such as this. He smirked "You know what, it may be nice to defy Akito for once"
