"I would imagine not," she said, "Humans are so self centered, and reproduce like viruses..."
She glanced up at the Doctor. "So what about Time Lords? Do they like humans or is that just you?"

He smiled "Oh the Time Lords would have loved you if they knew about you humans. Your so full of hope and wonder. I'm just a old man who know's all about the universe but you humans are like children learning. It really is a wonderful things to see."

Aven tilted her head thoughtfully before looping her arm around his and looking up at him.
"You don't look that old, to me," she replied looking at his eyes, "you look... sad and a little tired. Are you feeling okay? Do you need to get some sleep?"

"Of course I'm okay! So many things to do! No time for sleep!" he said while putting his hands in his pockets. He had finished the bananas long ago.

Aven shrugged and kept walking. Every now and then she would stop and examine an odd knickknack, or an old book with faded writing, even 'antique' holograms.
"This is all so surreal..." she said as she studied a shop filled with what looked like jars and jars of strawberry jelly. Inside several pale-faced plasmavores shopped casually.
"What's in here?" she asked peeking in through the window.

"Oh you don't want to look in there" he said with a disgusted face while pulling her away. "you want to keep looking at shops?" he asked her as they walked down the street.

"Why not? What's in there?" she asked but was inevitably dragged away like a wandering child, "Well I know you ate a bunch of bananas but I'm hungry and if I eat another pear you might jump off the deep end SO... this place have anything to eat?"

"Fish and chips" The doctor coughed while walking alongside her.

"You're kidding... five billion years and we still have fish and chips?" she asked. "What about sushi? We still have that? Oh! And those little edible ball bearings what about those?"

"Fine, we'll go to a all you can eat." he said while taking out his screwdriver. He pressed the button which searched for the nearest buffet. Once it found the location he put it away and headed down the street again.

Apparently Aven had underestimated the New New York definition of 'variety'. The place had EVERYTHING including several things that didn't seem to be dead yet. Every sort of creature was wandering among the rows, some of them slurping broth through snouts others were bashing several wriggly looking meat-balls that refused to sit still.
"Doctor? What is this place?" she asked a little intimidated by the strangeness of it all.

Aven let herself be pulled through as if in a daze. While the bazaar had been familiar enough, if not covered in strange odds and ends, the restaurant was just plain weird.
"I know that, I meant this place. It looks like a cross between a bar and a stable," she said feeling slightly light headed.

"I'm... I'm fine," she said as she measured her steps carefully
Aven then felt something hot spill across her top lip. She reached out to touch is and realized it was blood. Her nose was bleeding.
"Ugh... not now... not now..." she mumbled willing the pressure in her brain to subsist to no avail, "...not here..."
But all too soon the world blackened and she collapsed on the spot.
I'm going to feel that tomorrow... she thought before blacking out.
