"Hello, Miyuki," Luk chuckled, setting his cards down. "How have you been? It's been a while since I've seen you. You haven't changed a bit."
"Speak for yourself," Arthael spoke up. "The last time I saw her, she was a baby."
Earendil laughed. "Yes, well, we've been busy. Traveling and so on."

"So really it's been over six years since we've seen you last," Lin chuckled at the brother and sister, "While Luk on the other hand, it's been two weeks for us since we last saw him."
"Mommy says time goes faster here than in Gaia, but Gaia doesn't seem slow at all," Miyuki told Luk, "So I don't get it."
"And that's one complicated concept I don't care to explain, because I don't get it, I just know that's the way it is," Lin admitted, "Shiro could probably explain it, but you might get lost part way in the explanation. Shiro, by the way is Kaito's twin brother, and he and Kaito will be traveling with us on this trip."

"Well, Miyuki," Luk explained patiently, smiling, "in the two weeks that you were in Gaia, two years have passed here. Have you seen Alena yet? She's had a baby in the time that you were gone. Not that you would realize how long that takes, I suppose ..."
Earendil chuckled. "Well, she may find out someday."

"I saw the baby! She's cute!" Miyuki exclaimed.
Of course Miyuki had never been around anyone who had carried full term, so she didn't realize how long it took to have a baby in the first place.

"She is," Arthael chuckled, pushing her chair back and standing. "It's so interesting, seeing Elros with a family. I would never have imagined it before."
She had after all worked with the man for a few decades before he'd gone to the Eastland, and she had only known as the man who seemed to have a heart of stone.

"Huh? Why not?" Miyuki asked.
She had never known Elros without his wife, so she couldn't imagine him being not married or eventually having a family.
"Elros was quite different when he was here working in Haven," Lin told Miyuki, "Not that I would know, it was all hearsay to me."
Lin of course had not really known Elros for his stoic nature. Sure there had been times when he seemed to just study you, but those were not that often to her.

"You were the oddity," Arthael told Lin. "You saw a different side of absolutely everyone. No one was themselves around you."
She paused, then nodded at Earendil. "Actually, I think it was when Lord Elrohir and Lady Serenity met that Elros began to change. Started showing a different side."
Elros had been the one to help Serenity acclimatise to being with people once again.

"Well the first person Serenity ran into coming back was Elros... well Elros and I, but I wasn't aware that Serenity wasn't use to people so it was quiet a shocker for her to suddenly see a ranch spring up and realize her son was living there."
Especially since Elrohir wasn't always the nice guy that she knew. Well, in the words of Triton, it wasn't that he wasn't nice, he was just somewhat set in his ways. Lin didn't know any of this, and didn't learn of it until she was mature enough understand.
"That was so long ago, it was my first visit to Haven...."

"That was indeed a long time ago," Arthael murmured, leading all of them back towards the kitchen. "Long before I could even stand being around Halmir."
Let alone be married to him.
"You are planning on staying for lunch, aren't you?" she asked suddenly, turning back to Earendil, Lin and Miyuki. "You are quite welcome to stay, you know."

"Yes, we are thank you," Lin replied.
She was smiling, but it was for her kind of hard to tell at what. She too remembered how Arthael and Halmir were when the ranch started up. Now that brought back memories.
"Yea!" Miyuki nodded, "Daddy said we could."

"Ah," Arthael grinned. "So you were planning on taking advantage of our hospitality in the first place."
"Guilty," Earendil grinned back. "But you never seem to mind, and you're all such good company. Take it as a compliment."
Arthael laughed. "We do. Trust me, we do. I find that now that we have individual houses, we tend not to see as much of the others as we used to - which is natural, of course - but it's nice to have company, especially company that seeks us out purposely."

It really sounded like the place was becoming a tiny village, or maybe a hamlet of some sort.
"I'm glad," Lin replied, "It's also good to just catch up with everyone again. I find it's different than when I was a kid. When I was little, I was always in Gaia so I didn't notice how many years passed, but now being here, it's very noticeable."

"Because there are so many changes taking place?" Arthael asked as they headed into the kitchen. She motioned for everyone to take a seat at the table, and sat down at one end of the table. "All the houses being built, the stable being expanded?"
Halmir smirked. "If you think this is different, you should see the valley," he winked at Lin.

They hadn't taken a good look at the valley since coming out of the portal, they would probably have to go back later. If, for no other reason than to visit Ulrich and Ulani.
Taking a seat, Lin grinned at that.
"So many changes and the fact I feel at least part of the time spent away from Haven now."

"For us, nothing feels different," Halmir spoke up, bringing the meal to the table as the others took their seats. "It is actually usually a bit longer between your visits. You're just spending more time in our world, away from here."
"Well, we'll all be around for a while," Earendil smiled, sitting next to Lin. "I think we'll probably wait until spring to leave on our tour of the Four Lands, that way Shiloh is a bit older and we won't have to worry so much about snow or cold."
