Well...I just thought. The Louisiana purchase was from France *gigglegigglegiggle* Oh dirty naughty France keeping a part of America for yourself, so in the end Alfred has to buy himself from you. XDDD *nosebleed*

And, don't forget he had to fight Spain to reclaim some of himself, too. According to the time lines, Spain conquered S. America, C. America, and most of the south-western portion of N. America before France came and snatched the lands around the Great Lakes and Mississippi River. THEN England established the Thirteen Colonies.
