I was wondering if there was a chance of a female becoming first captain. Kyoko is not the kind of girl to sit on her behind and do nothing, she is as rough and tough as the menfolk and has no qualms about putting them in their place if needs be. She has no desire to lead (aka be Captain). But by the very nature of her sheer practicality and boldness, shed be unlikely to remain just a regular crew member for long.

Yes there IS a possibility of females to be captain<3 They just have to hold their own, since some males of the pride wont respect most females. [Some will though]
She could also be a first mate, where shes not blindly following, but isnt leading the whole shendig either.

Cool! She can give as good as she gets in regards to insults, and she is extremely independent. Enough so that she doesn't want the responsibility of being Captain, but she'd not be able to sit on her paws and serve under an irresponsible first mate either. XD
