Scathach sighed, "I do understand, true enough. But even with that being true, I don't completely disregard the skill and finesse required to take a life without having a complete mental breakdown. Killing, my good friend, is one of the finest arts." She frowned when he raised his hand, then gasped in offense, "Alexander! I'm.... Not so short..." She pouted a little, then glanced over as the girl walked up. Scathach frowned and cleared her throat, Irish accent a tad thicker in agitation, "Excuse me, lass, but we were in the middle o' a conversation. It's a tad rude to just butt in. You hardly even excused yerself a'tall." She frowned disapprovingly at the girl, laying her hand on Cuchulain's head when his ears laid back slightly.

Alexander smiled "well im atleast glad we can meet halfway on this, however that doesnt change the fact that i wish killing didnt need to be an art, that there was no need for it in the first place." he laughed when she claimed not to be short, then when the girl walked over he smiled "my name is Alexander Malick Rath, of the Rath family" in his own mind he felt sad, wanting to add 'whats left of it' to the end, but didnt. he continued to smile looking to the flirting girl. "as much as i would love to talk to someone as pretty as you, i dont quiet think your intentions match my own, and sadly your not my type, or maybe rather im not yours, and as my friend here stated, i am rather ingaged in a conversation with her, although im being a bit nicer about this than my friend here." he looked back to scathach giveing a look that said 'quit being mean.'

Scathach chuckled, "There may not be a need for killing, but if it's done it needs to be done right." She watched him speak to the girl, Kumora. He was so kind about everything, and when he looked at her she rolled her eyes, "Hey, Blondie, not everyone's as nice as you. Bluntness gets the point across just as well." She frowned when he stated his surname and clan... Er, family. Rath.... Why does that sound familiar? Her eyes widened just slightly as she remembered that day her and her sister had been called, by their mother, into the Grand Hall. One of their most prestigious families, headed by the Archduke Aedan, had been in a horrible accident. Their entire estate had burned to the ground. The only survivors had been a few servants and.... Alexander. Scathach's sharp green eyes pinned him with an intense gaze, how had she not known who he was before? Her heart ached at the memory of his grief stricken face, how her sister had tried to comfort him, even when he was still covered in soot and ash. The twins hadn't had much time with him, because he'd been whisked away by... someone. Scathach looked away down the aisles of books, face somber.

Alexander gave a light smile, he was odly happy. "i can not argue with that really, and it's perfectly fine for people to have different opinions, so long as they do not go to far with them anyway." he sighed. "being blunt may get the point across, but it's better to break things to people slowly, and in a nicer way, you cant just tell someone bluntly that there parents died can you, you break it to someone nicely." he watched as she began to look away, and he tilted his head slightly, looking at her face knowing something was wrong. "hey, are you ok, whats wrong."

Scathach shook her head, "Actually, I could say that to someone bluntly. And I have." This part was true. There had been many a time when she had to tell a family that their father, son, husband, sister, even wife passed on the battlefield. It never got any easier, "Sugarcoating things only makes the pain of the actual reality hurt more. It's better to say exactly what needs to be said, as straightforward as possible." She looked down at Cuchulain as he whined, sensing his master's upset. She rubbed his head reassuringly, then looked back at Alexander, "Nothing's wrong, per say.... I just feel a tad bit sorry for you, is all."

Alexander sighed "im not saying sugar coat it, im saying you dont blurt it out bluntly, you show a bit of compasion, i can personally guarentee that it is better to break things to someone, dumping everything on someone at once is to much, just like running, you pick up speed, you dont just hit the ground sprinting." when she claimed nothing was wrong other than feeling sorry for him he gave her a confused look. "huh, what? Wait so your pitying me because of my views? Thats a tad over the top wouldnt you say."

Alexander smiled "see now was that so hard to say." he chuckled then tilted his head slightly when she said she didnt pity his views, he didnt know what she was talking about, but when she claimed his past is why she pityed him his attitude changed "my past, what do you know of my past, you speak of not beating around the bush, yet here you are, doing just that."

I know that you were the only survivor aside from a few servants. I know not the cause of the flames, but I know that you were brought to my sister and I after we sent an investigation party. I know that she, bless her kind soul, attempted to comfort you in your grief while I stood idly by, watching as you cried on her shoulder and broke the hearts of everyone in attendance that day, even I." She drew up close to him and poked him in his chest, staring up at him, "Now then, there's what I know. Would you be so kind as to share your knowledge?"

Alexander looked at her strangly for a moment then realized what she was talking about, he remembered her, and her sister. "oh yes, you were the cold looking one that seemed like she didnt even want to be there, your sister was nice though." he raised an eyebrow when she asked what he knew. "what do i know, i know less of it than you do, i was small, they sheltered me from it, and i went into shock after what little they did tell me, i know i woke up somewhere far from my home, and was told our estate had been burned down, that my family was dead." he poked her in theforehead just as she poked him in the chest "what more am i exected to know, anything else i wanted to know wasnt told to me, either refused to, or said they didnt know."

Scathach huffed and rolled her eyes, "Maybe I didn't want to be there." Which wasn't true, of course. She just hadn't known what to do. When he poked her in the forehead she swatted is hand away with a sharp slap, "You'r expected to know what you saw, what you heard. You were there, there should have been something." She scoffed, "They didn't tell you? you were the master of the estate, they had to tell you. Apparently you didn't push hard enough for information. That's your fault."

Alexander frowned "if you didnt want to be there then why didnt you jusyt leave, there was no point in watching a heart broken child realize he would never again see his parents, never able to remember what happened, never able to know the cause." he sighed "ah yes thinking i could order them to tell me, you dont think i tried, they were either hard headed or they cared to much, they wouldnt tell me anything, and there was nothing i could do to make them tell me, because my father's wishes were he to pass before my maturity, were that i would come to this school, and was not to take on the duties he had untill i graduate from here, i was not, and still am not there master of the forgotten estate, i am not bitter over this fact, nor do i actually care about those things, i plan to do as my father wished, but i will never know what happened, not by means of ordering servants to tell me, for any servants that once knew the truth no longer walk the world of the liveing."

☆═━┈┈━═☆ Yuu walked into the store, a small, rabbit-like creature with soft blue fur and long ears laying on his head, sleeping. He walked over to a shelf, about ten feet from Alexander and Scathach. Looking around, he searched for something to catch his attention. He half-ignored the conversation between the two near him, but not completely. It was his instincts to listen to everything around him in case of some form of danger. "What do you think, Cuttlepie? See anything interesting?" Cuttlepie opened a single eye, glanced around with it, and pointed his ear towards the book right in front of Yuu before closing his eyes and "meeping". "Thanks, buddy." He reached up and gently ran a finger over Cuttlepie's spine, the small creature letting out a sigh-like meep.

She walked past the man with the rabbit on his shoulder. Her eyes drew to the floor as she quickly passed him. The mystery section was her desired location and she almost instantly found it. Her eyes scanned over the tethered book bindings. She recognized almost all of the titles and gave up with a sigh. She moved on to another section and pulled a book off the shelf every now and then. Lucy collected three books and handed some cash to the cashier. She brushed a lock of hair out of her eyes and walked over to a random chair and sat down with a small "oof". She picked up one of the books and opened it to the first page, ignoring the clamor around her. • • • • • • OR you can surrender... in which case only most of you will d i e.

Momoko walked into the book store. She looked around and a book caught her eye. She took it from the shelf and sat at the closes table.
"Hey Inuki, its a children's book about wolf spirits"
Inuki nudged Momo and laid next by the chair she was on. Momo petted Inuki and smiled.
