▪ × × × × × ▪ Daniel smiled. The black-haired drummer had a short, blunt way of speaking, but it was always to the point. Yes, no, rarely a maybe. It was somewhat comforting. There were many men and women whom liked to hear themselves talk on top of idle conversation - Daniel was often the victim of his own patience. They came to him for whatever reason, perhaps noticing the gentle gleam in his shy eyes or the placidity of his mannerisms. Then, after introductions or whatnot, the talking would begin and sometimes it went on for hours. Daniel, though, was never the one leading the conversation.
"I don't like it much. It's very bitter... and heavy. I like ice tea much better. A friend of mine once treated me to something called 'bubble tea'... Which was really weird. But... fun." The blond chirped, chuckling quietly as he recalled his shock over the entire situation. Jelly treats, boba, were peculiar but yummy bits at the bottom of this so-called 'bubble tea.' Settling in his chair, Daniel swirled the teabag, smile widening as the bag excreted a dark cloud of tea.
With the tea almost ready, Daniel browsed through the varieties of creams and sugar on the tea tray between them. Picking out a little pitcher of whole milk, he doused the cup with a healthy amount and then set it back. Eying a packet of sweet honey, he considered it as he returned Gavin's gaze. "Oh? ...Christoph likes your band. I'm sure he won't mind letting you play again." Daniel mused, resting his forearms on the table, brushing back his unruly bangs. "I go to school some days. The local theater on others... But mostly here, lately." He announced softly. Why was that, he wondered? His attendance at the Music Box had grown - for what reason, though, mystified him. ▪ × × × × × ▪

Their mannerisms were completely different, but at least the guy talked more than he did. If they both spoke like him, there would be no conversation to speak of. It would be like to robots talking to each other.
Bitter? Now that he thought about it, he wasn't sure what about the taste bothers him. Even the slight hint of coffee made a drink taste horrible for him though. He could always tell if it was in a drink. He also hated the smell of coffee.
"I never heard of bubble tea," Gavin replied in his usual tone, although he was curious about it now. He turned his attention back to the tea that was done. After pulling the bag out, he poured in a bit of honey. While giving the tea a gentle stir, he reached to get some cream. He put in enough to lighten the color of the tea, but not too much. As he stirred it all together, his eyes fixated on the cup. He didn't have to think about what he would add. After all, he had a certain way to deal with tea he has tried before. In most cases, he used some kind of cream with black tea but opted out with lighter kinds.
"What do you go to school for?" Gavin asked. He totally ignored the comment about Christoph. There was nothing else to really say about that. He bent over a bit and brushed the fumes of the tea toward him as he inhaled softly. His eyes closed as he basked in the aroma, a soft smile on his lips. A moment later he opened his eyes and picked up his cup to take a sip. The spoon slipped around the cup to hit is lip gently as he sipped. It was a small sip but good enough to make sure the flavors were mixed just right. Then he set the cup back down gently: waiting for it to cool a bit.______________ 【I am not a click track】

▪ × × × × × ▪ It didn't surprise Daniel that his counterpart hadn't heard of bubble tea. In itself, bubble tea wasn't widely known, but it had its own history and following. Much like smoothies or milkshakes, bubble tea was a treat type of drink, although it could be simply a different mixture of usual tea, with a hint of flavoring and dark, sumptuous fruit jams. He'd liked it when he'd tried it; he'd have to see if he could find a place close by to reference for Gavin. Maybe they could... go together? "It's interesting... It varies from fruity mixtures to regular tea-based ones, with fruit or jellies or ice mixed in, since it's iced tea. I've seen ones with frozen yogurt too." The blond explained shortly, watching as Gavin mixed his tea.
His own was thoroughly steeped by now; removing the finished tea bag, Daniel set it on a tiny plate to be disposed of. Deciding on the honey, he added a small dollop of it to the delicate brew. Stirring it in, his gaze wandered, catching a strange, yet understandable expression on Gavin's face. The man's eyes were closed, and so Daniel didn't feel too bad for staring. He seemed... peaceful. Taking this faint show of pleasure as a cue, Daniel in turn took a slow sip from his cup. Flavors hit his tongue, strong and warm, lightly floral scented and smooth. Licking his lip for a stray drop, Daniel held the cup close as he thought of how to answer Gavin's question.
"...A number of things. I'm... still undecided. I've changed my major a handful of times. I just... can't decide. It's like I can't find one thing that suits everything I... enjoy. Composition, music theory, scripting for theater, instrument study..." A dissatisfied sigh changed the tone of Daniel's voice as he stared morosely at the milky, amber surface of his tea. It rippled as his fingers trembled a bit; this was an old conversation for him. Everyone always wondered what he would settle on, seeing as he could both write, sing and play. Nothing, though, seemed just right, yet. Opportunities were out there, and he was waiting for the right one to present itself. Someday... "Are you in school, Gavin? What year are you, if you don't mind my asking...?" ▪ × × × × × ▪

◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘◘ ┌─────────────────────────────┐It never occurred to Gavin that they might have looked weird drinking hot tea at a bar in the middle of the night. That fact was even more obvious since they were sitting at the bar counter. He never really cared about what others thought about him, so he didn't pay much attention. That is probably why he didn't notice a couple girls that walked by whispering and staring. There was a reason for that though. If he ever worried about such things, who knows what would have happened in the past.
Gavin pulled his spoon out of his cup and set it aside. He has a tendency of forgetting about it. "I'll have to try them," he said simply. They did sound interesting and a bit weird as well. Right up his alley. His eyes glanced over to catch the blond licking his lips. Does he do that a lot? "Maybe school isn't for you," Gavin suggested. After all, he could learn those things just fine without going to college for it. The fact that Daniel couldn't make up his mind didn't surprise Gavin at all. Just the way he talks seemed to show that he might be indecisive in general. Getting a bit impatient, he picked up his tea and took another sip out the piping hot but wonderfully flavored tea. "I already graduated in Mechatronics."______________ 【I am not a click track】

▪ × × × × × ▪ Pleased that Gavin seemed mildly interested in the bubble tea - it really was quite good! And so many varieties to mix and match with - he busily took a second sip to hide a minute grin. All his attention was focused on the tea in front of him and his new companion. While it might not seem that between the two of them, one normally silent and the other normally shy-like, they could keep up a conversation, things were going rather smoothly. Very smoothly, actually; Daniel was surprised by the entirety of it, as well as the ease with which he felt he could ask questions. Gavin still made him a bit nervous, but his damnably strong curiosity had the upper-hand on his actions.
Those last couple of statements, though, startled Daniel right down to the core. His cup settled with a tiny clatter as he tried not to drop the china completely. Gaze swiveling sidelong, those bright emerald-blues widened in the face of untold possibility. Not in school? He'd never considered the idea before; he had been brought up with ideas of a "furthered education for success" drilled into his head. The lessons hadn't faded, and his indecision had only grown over the years as he tried first one major, than another. He took schooling so seriously, yet here was Gavin, calmly suggesting that, maybe, school wasn't the answer for his state of life-confusion.
"I-I... I don't know what I'd do... outside of school... It's like I'm stuck, playing the student..." Although lately he had taken to skipping some classes, as Betia the lead violinist had noticed. Had the appeal begun to worn off? He was twenty-three, without any direction in life, but with everything he wanted just on the horizon. Blinking, Daniel sighed and fussed with the hem of his shirt. Would quitting school really be okay? "Graduated?" Eyes round as saucers, Daniel stared as he fought down a shocked stutter. How old was Gavin, anyways?
"I have no idea... what that is... unfortunately... You graduated early, then? Um, I... don't know how old you are, but you seem... younger than me, anyways..." Daniel murmured, shifting between surprise and blatant intrigue.
{{ Now that you mention it, they do! Lolll! I hadn't noticed. xDD }} ▪ × × × × × ▪

They definitely had them over there. It might have been because he is used to calling them something else; or maybe he wasn't thinking clearly. Who knows really.
Gavin looked over at him when he heard the clatter of the cup. He seemed completely shocked by his suggestion. Why was that? Maybe no one ever mentioned something so simple to him before. He was going to respond to the reply. Something along the lines of how he is just comfortable being a student and probably feels like he has to get a degree. That was when Daniel showed him his big eyes again. He shifted his blue gray orbs to look at his tea before he took another sip. "I'm 21," Gavin replied in his normal tone, "it deals with robotics." He didn't get into the details, and wasn't expecting Daniel to know what it was. After all, they only taught it in Japan. ______________ 【I am not a click track】

▪ × × × × × ▪ It dealt with robotics. Which roughly meant that Gavin, despite appearances, was a certified wiz-kid. Taken aback, Daniel mused over his new discovery while watching the milk he'd poured into the tea swirl around in a honey-colored dance. His first guess, as well, had also been right. It wasn't uncommon that he made friends with someone younger than him - a lot of people he went to school with always assumed he was the younger one. Which always made for an interesting display of shock when it [his age] finally got revealed. Baby face or no, he was still two years older than Gavin.
"Do you enjoy it? Mechatronics?" Daniel asked quietly, lifting his tea towards his mouth, but pausing as a stray thought crossed his mind. How had Gavin gotten into drumming, then, if he was... well, smart? It was normal nowadays to have a career in electronics, robotics and computers - the modern age demanded for technology advancements every year. Sighing, he took a single sip before letting his cup settle again. "I'll... be twenty-four this year." That's right. He was twenty-three, without a diploma, directionless and seemingly purposeless as well. Talk about depressing. At least he could express himself with what he had learned and been taught over the years. ▪ × × × × × ▪

It was the only time he would really let go. He didn't have to add the part about drumming, but it seemed like the blond would ask about it at some point. He didn't weird out when he heard the guys age. The blond did look younger, but you could never really tell. That's what he learned when in Japan. "Elijah is 23," Gavin revealed nonchalantly. He pulled the hood off of his head, since he was getting a bit toasty. Elijah didn't like it when people called him that. In fact, he only lets Gavin call him by his real first name. Most people think that Wells is his first name. Even so, Elijah would gripe at Gavin when he heard him say his first name in public. Of course, he didn't care and would address his best friend however he wanted whenever he wanted.
At this point, it might have been a good idea to ask a question; but Gavin wasn't used to having someone around that wasn't super outgoing. It was so much easier not to have a lull in the conversation when Elijah was around. ______________ 【I am not a click track】

((Sorry about the seeming disappearance. The local fair just started, and I was there all day yesterday. whee Mmmm, fair food.))
Christoph gave Lacey a quick bow. "One more surprise, coming up." He closed his eyes and hummed dramatically, pretending to go into a trance.
Maybe something that didn't have alcohol in it this time. He was a responsible bar tender and didn't just dump loads of alcohol into a customer's system, no matter what the customer wanted. While people could get drunk if they wanted to, Christoph always kept track of just how drunk they were and decided when to start giving them virgin drinks in place of alcoholic ones. Nobody had ever passed out in his bar once in the several centuries that he'd been running it.
He decided to give her a honey lemonade. Christoph snatched a tall, thin glass and set in on the bar, to give a sense of anticipation. Then he took one of the miniature blenders that were set behind the bar at intervals and filled it halfway with soda water. He set the blender next to glass and turned to a passing waiter with an order to fetch him a whole lemon and a sharp knife from the kitchen. The lemon and knife were brought on a small plate, and Christoph wasted no time. With astonishing speed, he grabbed the knife and sliced the lemon into even quarters. Two of the quarters were squeezed into the mini-blender. This was followed with a generous dollop of dark golden honey. With a mischievous wink, he capped the blender and turned it on, making it whir loudly as the ingredients were spun together.
Not more than a moment later, it was done. He dropped a trio of ice cubes into the tall, thin glass, then uncapped the mini-blender and poured the honey lemonade over the ice. He handed the glass to Lacey.
"Here you are. It looks kind of like beer, with that golden color, but minus the foam and taste of horse piss." He grinned at her, and added, "It's called honey lemonade, but it shouldn't dry your mouth out as much as real lemonade does."

Lacey watched Christoph go about his business. It was just as interesting as the other times. She could tell it was non-alcoholic this time, which was fine. After all, she did tell him to surprise her. Now that she thought about it: when the other girl asked for a surprise, she was given a virgin drink. Maybe it was just a coincidence.
In reality, Lacey could drink three drinks without getting drunk, no matter what is given to her. Any more than that and it would start to affect her, depending on what she is drinking and how fast. This drink will be a good break for her.
Lacey wrapped her slender fingers around the glass and slid it closer to her. She gave Christoph a smile before replying, "thank you." Her dark eyes looked at the beautiful golden color of the drink before she lifted the glass to her lips. She wasn't a big fan of lemonade, but this particular mixture seemed to tickle her tongue. ((No worries...its not like you were going for a week or something. Sorry I have been a bit lazy with my posts lately. Haha))

▪ × × × × × ▪ "Oh." Daniel murmured, making a soft noise of understanding. He wondered what it was like, to be so good at something and so smart, yet to have such a wonderful talent such as Gavin's drumming to turn to instead. He was... slightly envious. With a little sigh, the blond gave his tea a few more sips as he pictured a life without a set schedule. Maybe Gavin was right; maybe he didn't need a degree to determine who he was. Heart fluttering in his chest, he chuckled faintly. "Is he? Did you go to school with him? Who came up with the idea for a band?" Daniel asked quietly, eyes turning towards Christoph, whom was busy creating something highly lemon-y and sweet smelling.

Picking up his cup of tea with his right hand, he took another sip.
Gavin noticed that the blond next to him was sighing often. Maybe it was about his current school issue. There was no way to tell really, and he wasn't about to ask. If Daniel wanted to talk about it then he would. "Yea, we met in middle school." He looked back over at Daniel after taking another sip of his tea. "He started the band before I ever touched a drumstick," Gavin stated simply. The Blond seemed quite curious about this particular topic. ▪ × × × × × ▪ Wandering green eyes blinked repeatedly, slow due to fascination, as Gavin messed with his hair. It was one of the few times the black-haired male had taken off his hoodie and it was... nice? pleasant?... to see him without it. Propping his chin in the palm of a hand, elbow crooked on top of the counter-top, Daniel nodded as Gavin explained in his simplified way. "Wow... you've been friends for awhile then." He commented, vague admiration in his voice. How nice it'd be to have a friend for so many years. His studies had kept him from much socializing through high school. Getting away from home and going to college had opened up doors he'd never known existed.
"Eh?! Then that means... you haven't been playing long, then?" The blond piped, lips parting as he tried to calculate how many years Gavin had been a drummer. A genius and naturally talented? Smiling a bit, Daniel shook his head enviously. "I've been playing for most my life... although I kept that from my parents. They thought I couldn't... I just wanted them to find out when I was good enough to..." He hesitated, then shrugged sheepishly. It was an old story and well dead in his mind. ▪ × × × × × ▪

It made him wonder if the blond had any good friends at all. After all, he didn't remember seeing him come with anyone before.
"I'm a fast learner," Gavin stated. His glanced toward the dance floor for a moment as he listened. "Was that the real reason?" He asked when the blond finished. Of course he was talking about the reason Daniel didn't tell his parents. It seemed a bit odd that they wouldn't know, or that he would try to hide it from them. Even if he wanted it to be good enough, it didn't make sense. After all, nothing can be perfect and thus probably not good enough. Which would mean that it was just an excuse. Not that Gavin believed that. He just speculated and pointed out the possibility: much like he did with the school issue. Why did he say it more in a past tense anyway? The more Gavin pondered it, the more he felt that this topic was a lot more complicated. Yet, Daniel just offered up the information like it wasn't a big deal. Then again, maybe he just told them recently. Whatever.______________ 【I am not a click track】

▪ × × × × × ▪ That was probably an understatement, Daniel thought to himself. If Gavin had only been playing for a few years, than the man had a natural ear for music. In the past, Daniel had thought he might have one too, but he had never been sure. What he did know was... that songs and their magic were undeniably part of who he was.
"W-what?" Did he really just ask that? Swallowing heavily, Daniel's face colored, shamefaced and unnerved for the first time in Gavin's presence. Straightforward, as usual. What could he say? It was true, mostly... His parents had been so full of expectations that he hadn't even had a chance to grow into his talents before they'd tried to replace him. Heavy-hearted, his guilt returning for his mother's fate, the blond slowly shook his head.
"...You might think I'm trying to tell you a sob story otherwise..." He muttered, his tea forgotten as he stared down at the bar top, eyes nearly hidden beneath his wavy golden locks. "I had... famous parents. There's a lot of reasons I didn't want them to find out right away... but it's mostly because I was always expected to be just like them. Y'know? But... It doesn't matter anymore." He finished, feeling as though he'd become awfully talkative. He didn't want to place all his past fears and woes upon Gavin's mind; it had all just come up, sudden as a snap of fingers. ▪ × × × × × ▪
