Ceres gazed at them for a moment, and realized that they had started to move out for the hunt. Running to catch up, she wonders how they operate. Some had seemed used to each other, and everyone seemed excited for the hunt. Her stomach rumbled a little, and she ran quietly to catch up to everyone.

"A'cuil must be the brown spotted male leading this hunt,"
Ceres thought to herself, "I'll try my hardest to follow their lead." Sniffing the air around her, she tries to smell pheasant they are after. The young pups seemed to have a better knack at hunting than she did, but she too could learn. The young orange pup was quiet, but she had the feeling that he was thinking hard about this all. And of course sweet little Kora was definitely a strong spirited pup. Kora would pick this all up quickly, now if only she could have that kind of spirit.

User Image A'cuil nodded at the healthy group in his wake, snorting gently through his nose as he kept up the pace. "Pups, up front!" He called back - he wanted them to see exactly where they were going, and there was plenty of room for them within his reach.

"Remember what I told you, Kora," he called as well, listening to their pawsteps. "Move as I taught you. I shouldn't be hearing those paws. And you, Icarus! Watch her and follow her lead."

He led the group until the grove of trees, a cluster of them growing closer together than the rest, was just above. It was a touch west of where the largest, ground-nessting brace of pheasants lay, this was true; but they were protected by gorse and other obstacles that the mountain wolf would take care not to harm. Hurt the eggs, and he would hurt the next generation of young, healthy pheasant. No, no - these trees were the hunter's target.

"Look well, all of you. We're here." A smile twitched the ends of A'cuil's lips. "Our tasty little targets are right..." he lifted his head, nose pointing at the treetops above them, "...up there. And we shall hunt them like Sure-Claw."

xxxxxAfter hearing the command to move to the front, Icarus carefully trotted up past the towering wolf. He peered at the other pup that was accompanying them and noted how she distributed her weight differently than he. Beneath the rough pads he could hear the snaps and crunches of sticks and dead leaves collapsing on his weight. However, from her's he couldn't hear a sound.

xxxxxHe attempted to follow suit and copy the ability that the flower-patterned pup used and that the spotted wolf had mastered. All he could manage was lowering the volume of the crunches he created.

xxxxxAs they approached the eggs, he was tempted to lunge and crack open the developping embryo's. Still, he chose to follow A'cuil's lead and peered up through the branches of the tree in front of him. He whined quietly realizing that he had never travelled up a tree before. Icarus raised a paw onto the branch nearest to his and tested his weight. The slight creak from the branch made him remove his paw immediately, causing him to peer up at the wolf for some sort of instruction.

Prince whined. He was hungry, cold, and lonely. His Mom, Dad, and the rest of his pack left after those scary dark shapes entered the forest. That was two months ago and they haven't come back since. Prince was surviving by catching tiny mice and other small creatures. He whimpered and laid down, resting his head on his paws. He lifted his nose in the air and scented the wind, Prince smelled other wolves and they were close. He stood, his ears swiveling to catching any sound. Prince ran in the direction their scent was coming from.
Eventually Prince heard voices of other wolves. He decided to see if they could help him at least for a few nights anyway. Prince stepped out of the brush and saw a big Brute, pups, and a Fae. He started to debate whether it was a good idea to show himself. His tail and ears lowered, he was frighten by the big wolves. "Um. . .H-h-Hi." Prince stuttered out. He looked at the big male and hoped he would accept him.

Ceres watches the confused orange pup, and chuckles inwardly to herself. A small shudder from a bush nearby drew her attention when a young yellow, orangish-brown pup peered out of the bush and stuttered. Quietly she walks over to him, and sees him gazing at A'cuil. "I wonder where this pup came here, and is he alone?" She questions herself before calmly whispering. "Hello young one, we must be quiet, for this is a hunt." Her head tilts up to the trees as she speaks, analyzing the pheasants. She too had the same question as the orange pup, how does one climb a tree?

Rouqie sat back on her haunches, eyes trained on the boughs above but a calm expression on her brow. She was curious as to how A'cuil would reach the pheasants. Would he simply shake the tree and cause them to fall? But the tree was so ancient and sturdy, that couldn't be his plan. Perhaps he planned to climb it to the top and toss the birds to their doom below?

She hoped so, that would certainly be a spectacle, yet at the same time she began to understand why Sure-claw training resulted in so many injuries and deaths. If you can't keep up... you fall to your death, like a pheasant.

Rouqie was contemplating the bird's drab feathers, when suddenly a blaze of blue soared across the canopy, chirping rapidly. It was so fast she couldn't make it out, but as she turned her head to follow it she could just make it's luminescent cyan, magenta and orange wings and tail feathers.

She was tempted to chase after it, if only to see what it was, when a new pup emerged from the bushes, grumbling quietly.

"Hush, little one, A'cuil," she gestured to the brown snake-patterned wolf, "Is showing us how to hunt pheasant." She cocked an eyebrow in his direction, as if suggesting he begin sometime before winter.

Prince immediatly shut his mouth. He looked up at the first Fae who appraoched him. She reminded him a little of his mom. Prince walked quietly over to the other side of the She-wolf and sat on his haunches. He was also curious as how the male would catch the pheasants. Prince watched closely so he wouldn't miss anything.
When Prince was with hi Mom and Dad they started to show him how to hunt but, it was just small game to practice until he was older. He sighed thinking of his parents, he missed them and wished they would come home.

Kora quickly moved to the front, adjusting how she stepped like A'cuil had taught her earlier. She was happy when she saw the pink she-wolf join the hunt, and hoped she would be fine with hunting A'cuil's way. When A'cuil said that the prey was in the trees, she couldn't help but wonder how in world they would catch them. The prey could fly away if they tried to scare them out, but Kora couldn't see how they could climb up.

She heard a pup whine, one that wasn't a member of their group, and looked back. A red and yellow pup had somehow joined their hunt, and was being reasured by the pink she-wolf. Knowing he would be fine with her, Kora was turning back to A'cuil when she heard rapid chirping. She whipped her head up, but was too slow to see anything.

Not thinking much of it, she turned her head back to A'cuil for instruction.

Slow measured steps carried the female purposefully towards the scent of others. She had been wandering most of the day and had found herself in a new area. She found the group and slowly stepped out of the foliage and into view. Her fur shimmered and she was hard to see for a moment and then she paused and became clear to the eye once more. She trotted nearer to the canines and wagged her tail in a friendly manner to show she wasn't hostile. She sat down and looked at the group curiously, wondering what they were doing.

Prince looked up at the pink She-wolf. His tail wagged slightly as he did so. Prince turned around to look at the purple she-wolf. He half smiled and then turned again to see a glimmer of silver. It was another Fae. She seemed friendly enough. He walked over to her quietly, like his Mother and Father showed him when they were hunting. Prince looked up at her, wagging his tail. He didn't speak but, instead waited to see what the Fae would do.

Ceres looks at the young striped pup, and gazes towards the other pups. "Do you know how to hunt little one?" She quietly questions him, "If not, would you like to join the other pups learn?"

Looking at the other pups, Ceres is filled with hope for the future. It had the lingering feeling that she belonged with the group, while uncertain how she fit in quite yet. These pups were tough, but filled with spirit. She wanted nothing more than to see how they would grow up, what they would choose to do. More than that, she wanted to help them in some way to make it easier on them.

Prince turned to look at the pink Fae that was talking to him. "I only know a little." Prince whispered to her. He looked at the other pups and quietly walked over to them. Prince would love to play with them but, it was lesson time and he didn't want to make noise. Prince walked up beside an orange pup and sat down wagging his tail.

xxxxxIcarus peered at the yellow and red pup that sat down beside him. Taking his eyes off of A'cuil, he greeted the other pup with a yip. His tongue lolled out of one side in a rather puppy-like fashion as he offered the other pup a wolfish smile. The pup before him mirrored his memories of the day before where he had approached the group starved and half-dead. Pale-blue eyes searched the faces of the wolves around him that had saved him from starvation. Within him, a warmth grew, but not from his ability. He felt connected to these other canines.

xxxxxThe orange pup pawed once more at the branches, testing his weight on the creaky wood. However, this time the branch did not groan in protest. Icarus whined lightly, still fearful of heights, and gently added more weight to the tree's limb.

Prince looked at the other pup. He wagged his tail and yipped queitly. Prince watched as the orange pup started to make his way up the tree. Introductions will have to come later. Prince was getting really impatient. He switched his weight from paw to paw not noticing the slight crunch of leaves beneath his weight.
