We could go that direction. 40 BBY could give us backing from the Republic/Jedi, and they'd probably give us a Consular/RLAC for free

and if you really want military aspects, you could also do clone wars; scouts were recruited to find enemy bases, supply lines, etcetera, for both sides.

I don't really want military aspects all that much. If I had, I'd have been pushing for one of the other roleplays

We could easily be hired by Czerka too. They're still in buisness.

Or we could just keep it simple and stick with the 40 BBY, being hired by the Republic plan, or the the "adventurers" idea and not make things unnecessarily complicated.

how are we making things complicated? I'm just suggesting a less stereotypical benefactor than "the government made me do it."

It's not the government "making" us do it, they're contracting us.
Besides, I prefer the idea of being a bunch of folks seeking riches, or whatever.

How is that different than us being "contracted" by a corporation then? The ship then becomes something nobody owns persay. although, if everyone wants to go round and round about who gets dibs on the captain chair, perhaps then we should consider if it's the captain, if they should decide the ship class and how badly out of pocket they'll have to pay for the weapon liscensing upon said ship.
On a side note, I motion that DA be a BD-3000 droid.

She should be an HRD
Or maybe a Spank-a-tron =P
Jokes aside, would it help if we just made some executive decisions and decided everyone goes with it?

I'm only asking, because I'm trying to make this a roleplay that more than one or two people enjoy

Hmm.
Yea, let's go with it. Reminds me a lot of ME2, but oh well, the game deserves to be imitated at this point.
Era: 35-40 ABY Ship: Akula
Premise: A very wealthy investor or group of investors hires us to go out and scout around the unknown regions, discerning too profitable area, and new enemies. We're well paid and well funded, but other than doing our job, jobs all of us do quite well, we're expected to ask no questions
