Joshua walked into the library and looked around. It was certainly and amazing place, the library at his old school and in his old town had nothing on this! Whistling softly at the amazing architecture and the rows and rows of books that could be seen, he walked over to the front desk. "Hey there~" he said to the woman at the desk, who looked up at him, "I'd like to get a library card." The woman asked him if he was a student at Fuyu, to which he nodded. The woman handed him some papers to fill out, which he did quickly, handing it back to her. Before long, he had a brand new library card in his hand. "Thank you!" he said politely as he walked away, disappearing into the rows of books.

He quickly walked over to the non-fiction section and began to peruse. The bag with the books he had bought at the bookstore hung off his shoulder, but he ignored them, knowing that he should check out some books for class and such, as well as just to read for himself. "Introductory calculus? I'm pretty sure I've got that one back in the dorm.." he said thoughtfully, placing the book back on the shelf. Speaking of his dorm, Joshua wondered what his dorm-mates were doing, and hoped that they weren't touching his books. They would regret it if they did.

Finally he found a book that he had not read before, although he had heard of it. A Short History of Nearly Everything by Bill Bryson. Pulling it off the shelf, he carried it over to an empty table and sat down to read.

'PART 1: Lost in the cosmos.....'

What would you wish for if you had one chance?

The girl walked in, receiving a greeting from the woman at the front desk, nodding a hello. She wandered around, trying to figure out what kind of book she was in the mood to read. Action, with a bit of romance, maybe? Mystery was good, too. She finally came to an isle, spotting the book she had been wanting to get for a while now. Princess Bride.
But, it was out of her reach, on one of the higher shelves. Of course, these things always happened to her. One of many disadvantages to being a faerie, was being short. Oh, how she hated it.

"Darn.."

She attempted to reach it, and after several unsuccessful tries, she frowned. She finally jumped up, nearly laying finger on the side of the book. But, she again failed, sighing loudly, obviously aggravated.

Joshua was deeply engrossed in his book, but he eventually noticed the young-looking girl who was jumping up and down to try and reach a book on one of the higher shelves. Sighing, he figured that one of the librarians would come over and help the girl so that she could stop her disruptive jumping. With that thought in mind, he turned his attention back to his book.

The jumping however, didn't stop. Breathing a sigh of annoyance, as seeing the girl jumping was rather distracting. Pulling a bookmark out of his bag, he placed it in his book and stood up. He walked casually over to where the young-looking girl was and raised an eyebrow. "That was a nice distraction." he said in a slightly irritated tone, "You do realize there are such objects as ladders and librarians right?"

She turned around to go ask one of the librarians for help, only to see a boy around her age standing there. She bit down on her lip, realizing how much of a scene she had probably made. Crap.
Christina bowed apologetically, her hair falling past her face. Unfortunately, it did nothing to hide the slight blush on her face. Embarrassed, of course, for bothering him. And he was right. She should've gone for help, being that she knew in the first place that she wouldn't be able to reach that book in particular.

"I'm sorry..."

Unsure of what else to say, without possibly making him further angry, she straightened herself, her dark, deep brown eyes looking up at his.

"I told you though, didn't I?"

In her head, Christina could hear Valkryia chuckle, obviously laughing at what had just gone on, and that someone had noticed it. Not that it would be too funny to someone else, but Val just never thought some people could be so absentminded.
Inwardly, Christina huffed, as if to shut up the spirit. It didn't help much, though, so she left it alone, avoiding a muttered "Shut up." The only reason she hadn't said it aloud, was because of the boy standing in front of her. He very well could take it the wrong way.

Josh blinked in surprise when the girl flushed and bowed, muttering an apology. She seemed quite flustered but what he had said and it caused him to frown. Had his words been too harsh? He wasn't really all that used to talking with other people, and he was often surprised by their actions. This was why he stuck with his books, they were a lot more predictable. While it was true that people could be predictable as well, it took a lot longer for Joshua to figure them out, if he even put the effort in it, which usually he didn't bother, as most people just brushed him off after the initial conversation....
Like what had happened at the book store.....

Perhaps I should read some psychology books, or see if they offer an anthropology course in my homeroom set.. he thought to himself.

He noticed her looking at him and he turned his dark lavender colored eyes to meet her own brown ones. Sighing, he tried to remember some of the things his parents and Mr. H - the librarian at his old school - had told him. Sighing, sounding as if it were a trouble, although that wasn't how he had meant for it to come out, he reached up and plucked the book off of the shelf. "Here." he said simply, dropping the book in her hands and returning to the table he had been sitting at.

She caught the book when handed to her, and bit down on her lip, bowing again.

"Sorry for bothering you..."

Christina said quietly, her soft voice like an autumn wind, gently blowing through golden-brown trees. That's what it sounded like to most people, and some often found a sense of comfort when her lovely voice spoke.
Sighing quietly after he left to a table, she looked down at the red leather book in her hands, reading the words printed in gold on the cover. She had read the book before, but it was one worth reading more than once.

"Shouldn't you be getting ready for the academy instead of reading?"

"I'll be fine. Besides, if you were in my shoes, I don't think you'd be studying either."

"That's an interesting way to put it, since I very well could be in your shoes."

Christina whispered a "Shut up" finally, but said it as quietly so hopefully no one would hear. But did that make Valkriya quiet? Of course not. It'd be a great invention for someone to make something for that purpose.
Hugging the book close, Christina walked over to a table, trying to ignore Val's comments. She had done so absentmindedly, so she didn't know she was sitting across from Joshua. She opened the book, flipping to the first page.

Joshua had simply shrugged in response to the girl's apology, and returned to his book. Even though he was focused on his book, he couldn't help but notice when the girl sat across from him. Frowning, he continued to focus on his book, as didn't see the point in talking, the girl was engrossed in a book of her own after all. However, all the manners his parent had always tried to force on him sprang to his mind. He tried to push them down though, as every time he had tried to be-friend someone, they had either used him, ignored him, or had been despicably rude to him.

Still... she seemed to be a lot like him, so he figured that things would probably be fine....

Looking up, he re-inserted the bookmark in his book and closed it silently, carefully putting it down on the table. "Hey." he said to the girl, extending his hand, "Introductions are in order right? I'm Joshua."

Her brown eyes looked away from the pages and to the boy sitting across from her, moving some hair out of her eyes as she set her book down, having already bookmarked it with a "Joker" playing card.

"My name's Christina. It's nice to meet you."

A small smile was offered, a shy one, but still, it was progress. Good progress. Joshua, huh? Nice name.

((O.o.c: It's okay. I posted a short post, too. ^^; Hurrying so I can play Monopoly with my little sisters.))

Joshua nodded in response to the girl's introduction and turned back to his book, unsure of how to respond. He had never really conversed with anyone before, normally spending his time involved in his studies. He half-blamed his parents for that. Either way, no matter who's fault it was, it didn't change the fact that he now had no idea how to respond to the girl. They knew each other's names, what came next? He sighed lightly and returned his gaze to his book, a small, almost teasing smile on his face. He just simply wasn't good at talking with others.

After a moment, something occurred to him. Looking up at Christina once again, he raised an eyebrow. "So, you go to Fuyu, right?" he asked almost rhetorically, "What homeroom are you in?" He figured that it would be a good idea to know someone in his homeroom, if she was in his homeroom. After all, it was always a good idea to have a study partner, just in case he missed some classes, not that he was ever planning to. Of course, he knew he could just read the textbook and pick up what he missed, but teachers often added extra information that could end up on tests, so it was always a good idea to have a study partner, just in case. "I'm in Math and Science." he told her.

"Yes, my homeroom is math."

The brunette answered, her deep brown eyes flickering from the book cover, where her fingers lightly grazed the cover, to the boy sitting in front of her. They were in the same homeroom. Good. That meant a lot of things. One, she'd have a partner and maybe friend, and also be able to interact in the class more, since there would be someone there she knew.
Abigail's gaze escaped to the window, where snow was falling, having already covered the ground. She wanted to go dance on the frozen lake, or skate, or throw snowballs, but what came with being a new girl, was there was pretty much no one to do it with. This is what she hated about transferring, not knowing anyone. A quiet sigh escaped her rosy pink lips, wondering just how cold it was outside. She needed to restock on hot chocolate, just so she had some in her dorm, and made a mental note to pick some up later.

Hearing that Christina was in the same homeroom as him, Joshua nodded. "Study partners then?" he asked her, extending his hand. He paused, and then added, "And if you're going to be my dear study partner, then you might as well call me Josh~" he told his with a smile that was unreadable as to the intention behind it, not that it was an unkind smile, just a mysterious one.

He noticed that her gazed seemed to be fixed on the window, and he followed it. Noticing the snow, he smiled. Frozen H2O falling from the sky. It was amusing to think of how fun people seemed to find it, when many of them hated rain. What was the difference? Forever lost when it came to the actions and attitudes of other people, Joshua shrugged the thought away. In the end, it really didn't matter, now did it? People could do whatever they wanted, they always would anyhow. However, just as soon as that thought was gone, another one popped up. Joshua had never been in a real-life snowball fight. Of course, he often wondered to the point behind it; balling up snow and throwing it at each other until one or both sides were soaked, freezing and in danger of getting hypothermia or frostbite never seemed like a great idea to him, but he had often wondered what it was like. No, scratch that, he knew what it was like to have snowballs thrown at him, what he didn't know was what it was like to do it for 'fun' to be hit by a snowball with mutual agreement for them to be able to throw one back at you and have a good laugh about it later. All he knew was what it was like to be the victim of a snowball assault. Not something he fancied repeating; hence the reason he was in the library instead of outside like seemingly everyone else.

With a sigh at the unpleasant memories, Joshua turned his attention back to his book and continued to read. He soon found that there was too much on his mind for him to really concentrate. Getting the urge to write, he reached into he backpack - which hung off the back of his chair - and pulled out his workbook. He placed it on the table in front of him and looked for a pencil, but was unable to find one. "I probably left it the dorm.." he muttered dejectedly to himself. With a relinquishing sigh, he pulled out his orange, flip-top phone. He really shouldn't, and he knew that, but he did need a pencil. Opening up the note section, he started a new one and quickly typed in 'P-E-N-C-I-L,' his thumb flying over the key expertly. As soon as the last keys had been pressed, an HB pencil appeared on top of his workbook, sharpened and ready to write with. Smiling to himself, Joshua picked it up and flipped his workbook open to an empty page. He tapped the eraser end of the pencil against his lips as he thought of what to write. Perhaps a scene about the characters awaking to a sudden layer of snow on the ground would do? he thought to himself. That decided, he began to write.

"Hmm?"

Her attention quickly was snapped back to him, and she caught little of his words, but enough to understand. She took the outstretched hand, shaking it gently.

"Sure, study partners."

For one, it'd make homework a world of a lot easier, and maybe she'd gain a better understanding of the problematic subject. It was never her best, but she was okay, enough to pass. She couldn't quite read the smile, finding it to be somewhat mixed of what could be several different intentions, but wrote it off as a good, friendly one and left it at that. She returned a soft smile, nodding slowly.
As he returned to his book, she scooted her chair back some, pulling up her backpack to pull her sweater back out, slipping it on. Even inside, it was chilly. Or it must've been her. Zipping back up the black and purple backpack, her attention was again taken when he said something about leaving it behind in the dorm. It wasn't really her business, so she went back to her own, until she saw a pencil materialize on the table.
It was only a few moments later of envy that she remembered it was a school full of kids like her, ones that used magic so easily. But, she couldn't. Usually, even the simplest spell would blow up in her face. She stopped herself, telling herself that maybe it wasn't magic, just some sort of talent or trick. But, other than that, she was unconvinced.

"How did you do that?"

Archimedes walked into the library with, as usual, a blank expression on her face. She had a task that she was supposed to complete, but after walking around a while she realized she had nearly no idea how to complete it. And since she had been told not to return until the task was completed, she decided to wait until she knew exactly how she was going to do that instead of returning early. She walked up to a bookshelf to take out a novel, but felt her foot bump something. Looking down, she saw she had unintentionally kicked a boy. Archimedes blinked and cocked her head at him.
