Dear Diary,

Today, I came back from Neilan. Neilan was nice. Evryone was nice to me, even if the kids made fun of my accent. I liked the parks. The parks had pretty flowers. I like daisys, but there are no daisys on Neilan. I found Praying Ladys on Neilan. I like Praying Ladys, but there are none on Gaia.

I went to school on Neilan. The teachers sayed I was very smart. They also sayed I was very strong. They meant strong in the head, not strong with the arms. I am not strong with my arms. They sayed I had dificulty with speech, but I could talk with my head so it was okay. They sayed not many can, so I am very specal.

I am happy to be back in Gaia. I missed my freinds. I made freinds in Neilan, but I missed my old freinds.

So I am happy to be back. Do my freinds remembr me? I remembr my freinds. I will see them.

Okay byebye Diary!

Love, Luna Edae

Open RP

Elle stood at the door to the clinic, pushing at the door. And pushing. And pushing. The clinic was open, so why on earth wasn't the door opening? She growled her frustration at the door, kicked at it and stepped back.

But if Elle had only looked closer, she'd noticed that she was supposed to pull on the door. She was too annoyed to notice that little detail though. Instead she stood outside, waiting to see if someone else would figure out the mystery of the door.

Luna glanced up from the picture book on her lap, cocking her head to the side as her gaze wandered to the door.

?

When it became apparent that the person on the other side wasn't having a very easy time getting in, she quietly set the book to the side and hopped off of the chair she'd claimed as her own, brushing the dust off of her skirt as she walked to the door and pushed it open just a crack.

???

That confused Elle even more, only she wasn't sure why. It had been a while since she'd 'talked' with Luna... so she took a moment to understand what that was.

"Luna?" Elle stared at the child. Luna was a toddler when she'd last seen her. But then again, how many children had pink hair?

She slipped inside, and it was only then she managed to understand why pushing hadn't worked. You were supposed to pull.

Hihihi! Luna answered cheerfully, hand raising in a wave. Elle yes?

Yes. She felt so out of practice it wasn't funny, and had to sit down. At least then Elle would be at Luna's height. You have grown!

Yup yup! Luna puffed with pride at the statement. I'm THIS big! She raised her hand to the level of the top of her head, beaming.

If it's hard to talk with your head, you can talk with your mouth. Another headtilt. I can't talk with my mouth very good.

You will soon grow taller than me. Elle half believed that as well. Since when did kids grow like that? She was sure she hadn't gone 'POOF!' in a day.

...a few months.

"I just haven't done it for a long time. I practiced different magics." Elle decided she'd just have to practice harder now. Luna wasn't a toddler now. "I bet you'll get really good talking with your mouth."

"Erll." Luna declared, frowning as the word forced itself out of her throat. "Erel." A pause. "Elle."

It's hard.

"That's it! It's okay. I like how you talk normally." Elle grinned at the younger girl and added, "I bet you can do all kinds of things now."

She added quickly and as casually as she could, "Oh... and how is Jo...keph? That was his name, right?

I can dress myself! Luna declared proudly, pointing at her shoes. I put them on all by myself! And I can read, and I can write! And I can draw!

At Elle's second question, though, Luna flopped on her back and rolled until she was staring at the older girl from the floor, a mischievous grin on her face. Do you liiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiike Jo?

"Don't be silly! I just remember him." Elle did flush a bit though, she hadn't expected that. Besides. She didn't like him. She just remembered him. She liked D... no. She didn't like that person either. Not at all. Elle was a free bird!

"That's really good," Elle tried to continue, "Maybe we can draw stuff together sometime."

Jooooooooooooooooo's in the bathroom~ Luna giggled quietly.

As if on cue, the room seemed to fill with the smell of citrus.

Hiiihihi~ Jo~

Jokeph simply sighed, hanging his head in half-annoyance. He SO wasn't about to give any indication to Elle that he heard the whole thing, but it wasn't like he couldn't. At this point, his mind was extremely receptive to Luna's thoughts and emotions. It would've been nearly impossible for him to not have understood what was going on.

Instead, he simply nodded at Elle.

"Well... when you have to go, you have to go?" That time her voice had been more of a squeak. Elle was too busy swearing at herself, and wondering when she could slip out and kick herself.

"Um. Hi."

Where was that rock when you needed to crawl under it? And how much had he heard?

Elle wanted to die right there.

Hello, Elle, Jokeph signed politely, bowing his head again. Mistress missed you.

Luna glanced back at Elle, her mischievous grin replaced by curiosity. Can you read sign language? I can tell you what he said.

"No, I can't." But Elle could remember wanting to at some point, even starting to teach herself. That had fizzled out then... she kind of wished she'd kept going. She only remembered how to sign the vowels now.

But then again, she wasn't sure if she wanted to know what he'd said. It'd probably be something like 'Crazy teenager, go away and find another guy to 'not like'!'

He said hi, Luna translated. And that I missed you. A pause. I did. I missed everyone. I like Neilan, but I missed my friends.

She glanced over at Jokeph again, and then back at Elle. He wants to know how you're doing.

Elle heard that part wrong at first, she thought Jokeph had missed her. She went bright red before realizing her mistake, and tried to calm down a tiny bit. "I missed you a lot too, I wondered where you'd gone."

How was she doing? How was she doing? Elle felt like she was being hit repeatedly over the head with a big emotional hormone stick. But she wasn't going to say that. "I'm fine."

Jo doesn't miss many people, Luna offered comfortingly. And I went home to go to school.

A pause.

You're liking him very loudly, you know. He can tell.

"I'm not liking him at all!" Elle protested, going redder again. Why on earth did kids have to grow up at all? Stupid TV, it was all the TV's fault with all of that stuff being shown to kids. "Its the hormones, they're evil. They get you when you're a teenager and they muck up everything."

They were mucking her up right now. Elle was so confused all over again, was she supposed to be angry at Luna, or feel sorry for her, or attack Jokeph with gallons of milk for standing there and embarrassing her...

Damnit. She wanted vodka. Even if she'd never keep it down.

Luna's face fell. Are you mad at me? Liking Jo isn't bad. I like Jo.

"I'm not mad. It's the evil hormones." Elle sighed. She was supposed to be almost over the teenager thing. "I like Jo. I just...bleh. It doesn't matter. You said you went to a school?"

Luna blinked, but let the comment slide. Yup yup! I went to school in Neilan. Everyone was nice even if they teased me about my accent.

"What accent? I bet it was them that had the accent, not you." Elle grinned at the girl somewhat weakly, still a bit emotionally drained from the giant whateveritwas. She was now pretending that he was just a part of the furnature. It was easier that way.

"Was it lots of fun?"

I talk like Porcelain, Luna explained. I like feelings more than thinkings. She gestured to her face, where deep purple swirls were painted on her face. See? Porcelain. Just like Tsu-Tsu and brother Boyan and little Melody.

She continued to chatter, pulling herself back into a sitting position and adusting the ribbons in her hair. I had lots of fun! I made friends and got to play with Uncle Vilden a lot. And Neilan is pretty. But I like it here better. Here has home.

Elle nodded, though she had only a vauge idea of what a Porcelain was. She smiled at the markings, admiring them. "They're pretty markings."

That she also understood, the part about home. "Home is good. I had to go away for a little while, but I missed home."

Luna paused in mid-adjust.

Where did you go?

"I went to this summoning school up in the sky. They keep it up there hidden in the clouds, and it always moves with the clouds." Elle grinned, remembering. "But it was wet a lot up there, clouds are wet things."

You went to the SKY? That got Luna's interest. I've been in the sky before, but not in a building in the sky. The buildings on Neilan are on the ground.

How do you walk on the sky? Don't you fall through the clouds? Did you learn to walk on clouds?

"I think there was magic, because there was ground on the cloud. Grass and dirt and stuff for the buildings to sit on." Elle added, "It didn't even feel like you were up high unless you went to the edge and looked down."

Wo-ow~! Luna's eyes widened excitedly. I like the ground better than the sky. Ground in the sky sounds pretty.

A pause.

Neilan's another planet! blaugh

"It was, but if you were afraid of heights, it was a bit scary at first."

Elle paused then too. She was impressed! "That's amazing, you got to go to another planet? Lucky you!"

Are you a'scared of heights, Elle?

Luna fidgeted a bit, brushing away the dirt that gathered on her clothing when she rolled on the floor.

It's where mama's from! And it's full of people like me! They don't talk with their heads, though. They talk with their mouths and listen with their heads.

"A little bit. But not as much as I used to be. Are you?" Elle picked up one of the balls nearby, and rolled it between her foot and her tail. She had started to do things like that out of habit, after her tail had once decided it was bored and tried to trip someone up.

"Is it different from this planet at all?"

Nope nope. I sit on Jo's shoulders a lot and so I can't be a'scared of heights. And there's a lot of flying in Neilan. Neilan's a lot bluer than here. The sky's bluer and the water's cleaner and the air's cleaner. And it smells like laundry. Luna neatly arranged herself on the floor, spreading her skirt out so it wouldn't wrinkle while she sat. The animals are different, too. They're not as colorful. The birds are really really bright, though. And sing with their heads.

Her gaze wandered to the ball. Oooh! I forgot you had a tail!

"Oh, right. Jo flies." Elle felt that rush of admiration again, and told it off. How dare it! It sounds very nice there. I like the idea of birds singing with their heads."

She looked down at the tail, shrugging. "I forget I have one too. Until it decides to remind me. It is a very mischievous thing."

No he doesn't, Luna corrected. He's just really really tall! He can't fly, but he can fly in dreams, I think. Maybe. I don't know. But birds fly. And they sound like this. She closed her eyes and tilted her head to the side, a mild stream of emotion rolling through the air around her. They were soft. Pleasant. They were the cool warmth of a sun in a deep blue sky. They were the gentleness of mild breezes rustling through leaves. They were the softness of down feathers.

She giggled quietly, eyes opening again to watch the tail as the stream of emotions trickled off. If I had a tail, do you know what I'd do with it? A pause for emphasis. I'd put a ribbon on it!

Elle listened with her mind. She could feel it, and her face lit up at the 'sounds'. She almost envied that Luna had been able to to a planet like that, it was so different to her own.

"A ribbon!" Elle looked at her tail, and grinned. "If we had a ribbon, we could put one on it right now."

Here. Luna removed one of the shimmering ribbons from her hair and pulled herself to her feet, taking two steps forward and kneeling by Elle's tail. I can tie a bow.

And tie she did, biting her lower lip as she focused on the still-awkward motions of making a bow. The end result was lopsided, but still recognizably a bow.

It's a friendship present, okay? Luna nodded emphatically. Don't forget me, okay okay? I'll be back another day, but if I don't go home, mama will be mad.

"Thankyou!" Elle admired the ribbon as it was put on, hoping that her tail would sit still long enough for Luna. Luckily, it did.

She leaned foward to hug Luna, adding, "I won't forget you. I'll have to send you letters, or visit you. But we don't want your mama to be mad."

I'll send a letter as soon as I get home, okay? Don't forget! With that, Luna pushed open the door to the clinic, Jokeph a step behind her.

Byebyebye!

"Bye!" Elle waved. She didn't wait in the clinic long, leaving a few minutes later for home.

Letters from Elle

Dear Luna

I was very happy to get your letter!

It sounds very pretty! I can't wait to see it. Did you know some people think rose quartz is the love stone and makes you feel creative?

My favorite gemstones are the opal and moonstone.

XOXOXO

Elle

The envelope reeked of magic.

Jokeph frowned slightly as he glanced over Elle's letter; his attention focused more on the folded paper contained within than the letter itself. Give it to Luna, she asked of him.

If it was anything but harmless? Not a chance in hell.

He could tell an illusion was contained within just by looking at it, but it would take further study before he could tell what exactly it was.

He set the letter aside for the moment, instead focusing on the aforementioned paper. With a deep breath, Jokeph relaxed, his eyes slowly becoming unfocused as they peered through the paper.

A spark of colored light caught his attention, and then another. And another. And, like one gazing on the hidden picture contained within a stereo image, Jokeph smiled as the entire illusion came into focus.

Ahhhh, Mistress would enjoy that.

The letter could wait for now.

Locating Luna was a simple matter. Even if he weren't completely attuned to her mind, she would always be in the first place he looked -- the backyard. This time, she was sprawled in the grass, knees bent with her feet in the air and her face in the dirt. Her eyes were half-closed as she listened to the happenings below the surface, a dreamy smile on her face.

As she felt Jokeph approach, she rolled onto her side, propping herself up with one arm as she tilted her head in inquiry. She didn't bother to project emotions or words; she knew that Jokeph could hear her no matter how loud or quiet her mind was.

A nod, and Jokeph presented the folded paper, a serious expression on his face. Luna understood that look well. Be careful, it said. It was the same look he gave her when he handed her a hot drink, or when Luna discovered a new plant that Jokeph recognized to be poisonous.

Luna took the paper gingerly, eyes narrowed in concentration as she gently lifted the fold.

Immediately, dozens of blue and red sparks leapt forth, bursting into brilliant designs a few inches from the page.

"Kyaaaaaaa!" Luna shrieked with surprise, jerking her face away from the paper with her eyes squeezed shut.

A second passed, and then two. And seeing as how Jokeph hadn't rushed to her side yet... And he DID warn her...

She opened one eye, eyeing the paper warily. The illusion continued to sparkle silently. Harmlessly.

A blink, and Luna slowly turned her face back to the paper, her eyes beginning to widen. "Ohhowoh~" She declared, lips breaking out into a grin. Well, if she didn't feel silly for being scared! As the sparks danced and exploded across the page, Luna finally began to laugh; a quiet giggle slowly crescendoing into shrieks of glee as each new burst caught her eye.

And Jokeph simply knelt in front of her, head tilted to the side and a gentle smile on his face as he watched Luna enjoy the illusion.

Jokeph

The summer months are very nearly upon us again, which, surprisingly, signaled a change of hairstyle for me. I admit I have not given much thought to the state of my hair, but now that Mistress is old enough to begin to care about such things, she has pointed out that were I to wear my hair up, my sweat would not damage the ends as much as it already has.

Though I normally do not care about such things, Mistress's concern has made me realize that perhaps I should be.

I do not normally discuss the state of my finances, but as recent events draw heavily on it, I shall, for once. Like Mistress and Ying, I am given an allowance. However, considering my housekeeping and guardianship of Mistress, the monetary amount is quite a bit higher. I say so because this past month's earnings have put me over the top for a surprise I had been planning for Mistress for months.

It is no secret that she enjoys the clothing on her dolls. Mistress adores the buttons, ribbons, and lace that adorn the dresses, as well as the bonnets that the dolls wear. I suppose she is finally nearing the age where she begins to care about the clothing that she wears. Nonetheless, she has wished for dresses like those her dolls wear.

I was able to locate such a wardrobe, but the monetary value of clothing with that much detail put into it is understandably far more than June was willing to spend. It is with a great deal of pride that I was able to fulfill MIstress's wish.

The look in her eyes when she opened the packages... the bright smile on her face as she tried on a lace glove...

June says I spoil Mistress.

I believe there is no possible way to "spoil" someone as kind, gentle, and loving as Mistress.

Ah-- I must depart. June is calling us down for breakfast.

Until next time.

Open RP

Avenorell re-entered the GMFC building, in a comfy skirt, a soft top, and a pair of slippers. She was tired today, and kind of hungry. She sat on her usual couch-spot, laying her messenger bag in her lap. She wondered if Teki would be here. She wanted to see how she was, and just chat. She was really sweet, too.

Tekilite walked in. She was a little ruffled, a little angry but not by much. She was sore from work, mostly from her feet. Course it was ok. She only worked in the bakery. They were open for only a little while. She brought some extra popovers. Two blueberry, one apple, and one of her specialty made ones. It looked exactly like a leaf, green and crispy. Quickly she spotted Aven and she smiled, now feeling infinently better.

Luna's dress swished as she made her way into the clinic, her new shoes "click"ing against the hard floor as she pushed the door completely open for the tall, winged man following closely behind her.

Here she was!

Now, where were those markers...?

Tekilite shuffled aside as the woman and man came through. She shuffled over to Aven ans looked at her before she sat. How are you? How was I? She tried to formulate an answer before she asked, her tongue working against her cheeks.

"So how are you, Aven? It almost seems like forever since our last chat. I hung out at Momma's Kitchen and baked some cookies there." She smiled warmly.

"You bake, too? My adopted daughter and I bake all the time. She's obsessed with sweets, so we have about twenty cookbooks full of cookie recipies. I have some snickerdoodles if you want to try some?" Aven made room for Teki, crossing her legs. Then she realized that crossing her legs hurt her sore legs, and uncrossed them.

"I work at a bakery." She said simply, taking precise mental note of the crossing and uncrossing of legs. Was she uncomfortable with her so close? She scooched back a little and smiled warmly again.

"Lets trade snacks perhaps...? I got some nice popovers in my bag..." She trailed off as she rummaged her dark tanned bag. She pulled out the blueberry, apple and specialty. Her face reddened a little when she pulled out her favorite green flaky pastry. She was almost embarrased to ask.

"...Want one?" she half-whispered to Aven.

Aven noticed Teki seemed uncomfortable when she crossed and uncrossed her legs. "They're sore from swimming, it hurts to cross them. It's just a long-used habit." She laughed softly."Sure, I'll trade. I may have some mini cakes in here, too." She rummaged in her messenger bag, finding a tupperware container with three tiny cakes of chocolate, vanilla, and lemon flavor.

Luna glanced up from her markerwork, tilting her head to the side as she watched the two strangers trading sweets. Face tinted wtih pink, she reached into the folds of her dress's apron and picked out a chocolate chip cookie, wrapped neatly in a napkin. This she held out to the two, eyes questioning.

Aven looked at the pretty girl who stood in front of Teki and herself, offering her cookie. Aven smiled wide, handing the girl a snickerdoodle and a chocolate flavored cake. "Hello, honey. I'm Avenorell." She smiled again, adjusting the folds of her skirt slightly.

"Ah," Tekilite could only say. She shrugged it off metally, taking another glance at her swim toned legs. Tuh. If only her legs could be like that. Perhaps if only she could be thinner perhaps. She thought a bit idly. Then, Tekilite looked towards Luna as she pulled out the cookie and she smiled. She gave Aven her green leaf pastrie and took chose the sugary apple bake to give to her.
"Would you like the apple pastrie?" She asked kindly, "We all can share, you can join us if you'd like. I'm Tekilite.

Luna's eyes brightened and she grinned with surprise; she hadn't expected anything in return.

My name is Luna Edae. It's nice to meet you, Miss Avenorell. Miss Tekilite. She curtseyed slightly, eyes closing. Throughout the entire introduction, her lips didn't move one bit.

Aven was rather used to communicating through thought, and grinned with delight. "It's lovely to meet you, as well, Miss Luna Edae. My full name is Avenorell Meriel." She pushed her hair back again, leaving the tupperware container in her lap so Teki could choose one for herself.

Luna's eyes widened in delight as she projected a wave of excited chattering at Aven. There were less words this time, and more feelings. Feelings of the things she liked to do (Playing in flowers and watching butterflies), the places she'd been (Another world far away), and the identity of the man against the wall (Her guardian), as well as her family (Large and often confusing).

It was a MUCH more fitting introduction than simply her name -- Luna Edae Keth.

Tekilite blinked a little as her psyche was rocked a little. But then again... she had a talking, incredably intelligent bird, created from her own DNA... So in a twisted sense, her having that kind of ability wasn't as super crazy as it really was. She nearly dropped the turnover but in the end gripped it in a firm grip as to not slip.

With her other hand, working nearly on its own, it deposited the green turnover and picked up a random cupcake. Chocolate. She still smiled warmly towards Luna and Aven. Well, this was going to be an interesting day.

Aven smiled at the young girl, her motherly sense kicking in. Luna was cute, she was rather sweet too. She reminded Aven of her own daughter, Calli. She smiled to herself, slowly chewing on a bit of Teki's special turnover. "Wow! This is good!" She looked at it for a second and continued chewing, obviously enjoying this moment.

So did this mean that Miss Avenorell was a Neilani too? Did it? Did it? Luna was practically bouncing, now.

No, Luna. I am not a Neilani. I can simply communicate through thought because my people could not speak underwater. Aven's thoughts projected to Luna.

Tekilite looked from the two, one bouncing and the other eating. there was certainly some conversation going on right...? Something psychic? Her back had started twinging, a colored pattern caressing her neck uncomfortably. She shifted her poster, rolling her head to rub her neck on her shoulder, forcing the tongue of... whatever it was that had been on her back since birth, downard.

She settled the turnover beside her so that the child could pick it up when she chose. Then, startled herself, she took a quick look towards Aven.

"I certainly hope so. Its special. My own recipie," she said with a little laugh, trying to force her self-consiousness away.

Luna blinked, glancing upwards as if recalling a long lesson.

The people mama's people came from were like that. An emphatic nod, and then she turned to Tekilite.

"I..." A pause as she cleared her throat awkwardly. "Sorry. No mouthspeak well." Her words were very heavily accented and sounded fairly uncomfortable to force from her throat.

Aven took the last bite of the turnover, rubbing her hands together to get the last bit of the crumbs off. Aven stretched herself again, muscles tensing. "I'll have to get some of those, Calli would love them!"

Poor Luna! She had trouble speaking orally. "Maybe I could tell Teki what you say so you won't have to strain yourself?" She suggested lightly, putting the top on her tupperware container.

Well... Luna didn't want to make too much trouble...

"I don't mind, if that's what you're thinking. It's not like I'll be angry or annoyed to help you." Aven smiled her reassuring smile.

Tekilite shruged in an off-hand way. Her back was practically popping and burning, yet she ignored it. It was just another one of those days, she surmised. As her thoughts went back to what was going on, she nodded emphatically.

"Of course, I'm sure you can practice a little, and Aven can help... translate," Tekilite said happily, "It'll be a helpful expirance."

"If you'd like I can make some more for you Aven," she added as an afterthought for Calli's future basket.

"I... should practice," Luna mumbled, blushing with shame.

Aven saw a slight discomfort on Teki's face, and turned to her, worried. "What's wrong, Teki?" Aven asked, her forehead creasing with worry.
"Maybe that is better, practicing. Just be sure to continue practicing after this if you wish to successfully speak orally. It would be much easier to speak like that instead of through thoughts in this world, most people mouthspeak."

"I... know." Luna frowned deeply, biting her lip. "Very... hard. Ever since I was... baby. I did not cry much. ...Used... head to speak."

Tekilite giggled a little to help bite off the sting of embarrasment, wipe that frown off and hugged Luna softly. She let go a little quickly not to embarass her any more, and also because her back screamed with pain suddenly. Why, in the world was her tattoo acting up today? It wasn't like that before.

Wait... it was. She thought back a little bit as she placed a warm hand on Aven's shoulder. Smiling the pain away with dimples.

"Well thats it, we'll help you along too." She nodded back to Luna.

A shy smile. "Thank'u."

Tekilite took that same hand and patted Luna's shoulder.

"You are most welcome," she beamed toward the girl. She was a bright star. She then settled down and looked at the rest of her turnovers, half debating, half thanking that the pain has just as suddenly gone down.

"Didn' mean t' make you hurt," Luna whispered. "Sorry..."

She shrugged a little.

"It happens from time to time. Its ok." She arched her back a little, easing out the remainder of the knots now that the ebb was in a lull. "Would you like another turnover?" She asked.

"N' thank'u," Luna chirped as brightly as she could manage. "Gots'ta go, but later? Okay?"

Aven observed her surrounding contentedly, watching Teki speak with Luna. Teki was so sweet with her, she didn't show the pain when her back was hurting.

"Alrighty, See you later, sweet pea." She hugged her again. Without her back bubbling with pain. Perhaps it was just all her mind, and that she was only sore from bending with the large pans for the brick ovens....

Boyan

It's amazing how much like a Porcelain Luna is.

Makeup alone doesn't make the Porcelain. This much I know. But the way she feels is so much like a Porcelain that I can't help but see her as one. Is this "bad"? Is this "wrong"? Perhaps there are Porcelain back in Dragonlamp who would believe it to be so. But myself? Luna is my sister. Melody's aunt. Even were she not identifying herself as Porcelain, she would be Porcelain in our hearts.

I have undergone very strange changes, both physically and mentally. Physical changes are unimportant. Mental changes, not as unimportant. Language seems easier. Writing seems easier. Though it is strange, it is exhilirating to be able to write a letter that is easily understood.

Luna was stunned, and understandably so. But she agrees; physical changes are unimportant. I am still the same big brother who plays the ocarina for her at dusk. I am still the same big brother who loves digging through the dirt with his bare hands in search of shiny stones. We found hematite today, to our combined delight. One day, she says, we will find the tiger's eye that reminds me of my wife and son, wherever they may be.

Melody is still with us, joining us in our hunts for natural treasure and scolding us when we become too covered in dirt to go inside.

"Daddy is too childish," her mind teases.

"Melo is too grown-up to have fun," mine teases back.

"Are you not each a little of both?" Luna's mind asks, and ours quiet in response. In such a young girl is old wisdom. She surprises many of her own kind, but not ours.

Luna may seem naive to her own kind. Too cheerful to have seen the pain life often brings. Too trusting to have ever been betrayed. Too playful to have ever had too much demanded of her.

Melody and I see differently. Luna knows both pain and joy, but chooses to see the joy as there is only sadness in pain. She knows what betrayal feels like, but she also knows that for there to be shadow cast on one's heart, there must be a light to cast it. She knows what it feels to be overwhelmed, but is wise enough to know that with playfulness, even the most overwhelming stress can be overcome.

She knows the simple joy of the sound of rushing water underneath the ground and the sunlight warming her hair.

Is that not true wisdom?

Arafel
((Oh and I'll be NPCing Iteru, since he's still a toddler and I've been doing so during freize's absense. XD *throws sleepy dust on him* ))

Arafel smiled slightly at the familiar sights and smells that rushed through the door of the clinic. She skillfully manuvered the twin-stroller through the doorway, vaugly wondering how long it had been since they were last here... Even after all that had happend so far it seemed like only yesterday when she had first stumbled apon the clinic. Either way, it was nice to be back... Arafel had figured she and the twins had needed some time away from the house, it had become a fairly depressing setting after the mysterious dissaperance of Freize.

Iteru was quietly taking in the sights as they entered, having lost his energy from playing with the toddler infront of him on the way there. There had been much fun of hair chewing and ear tugging while Futoeki struggled to return the playful attack. And now he was seeming to doze off as he often did after playing.

Futoeki was still lively as ever though, curiously straining to see over the back of his seat in wonder of what had happend to his playmate. "Bohda?" he questioned, having learned a few new words since his first.

Arafel smiled a bit "He's sleepy..." she informed the bluehaired twin.

"Sleeefeee?" Futoeki repeated curiously. "Sleesleesleesleee" he giggled a bit, throwing his arms in the air as he decided to start screaming slee over and over again.

Arafel flinched a bit, "Shhh..." she hushed at him, trying to hold back a laugh since that would only encourage the tot to continue.

Prolixity
"DADDY FASTER!"

"Indoor voice, Merlyn." Prolixity kept hold of his younger son's hand as he opened the door, making sure the kitten wasn't going to bolt off into the waiting room of the clinic like a cyclone with feet. Since Merlyn had figured out how to balance on two feet, keeping track of him had become even more of a full-time job than it already had been. "There might be babies sleeping, so we need to be quiet."

"Faster," Merlyn whined, and tugged on his father's hand. He paused for a moment when he spotted the stroller, ears going up with curiosity. "Who that?"

"Who is that," Prox corrected patiently. "I don't know. Let's go see. ... Indoor voice!" he cautioned, as Merlyn scrambled over the minute he was released.

Junyi
((WOO! GMFC FFA KEKEKEKEKEKEKE))

Jokeph was torn. Did he interfere with the trance Luna seemed to have put herself in, or did he leave her there, sitting upside-down in one of the clinic's hard plastic chairs, legs crossed at the ankles and her frilly skirt barely protecting her modesty?

With a sigh, he simply remained motionless for the moment, keeping a ear open for any improper doings. Luna seemed simply content to sit in the clinic with her mind open, listening to the thoughts and emotions of those projecting them, and he wasn't going to stop her.

Arafel
Arafel's attention was brought as a child bolted up to them. A smile tugged at her lips as she knelt down to greet the newcomer "Hello there..." The sight and sound of children alone was enough to brighten her day, and new peopel always seemed to distract the twins from the thought of their missing father.

Futoeki perked up, "Boohaaa, Ook!" he pointed to the child next to their stroller, only receiving a sleepy toddler's half attempt to look where he was pointing.
Futoeki was well aware that he wasn't realyl going to get a responce when his sibling was like this, and if he kept trying Arafel was likely to scold him to let the other boy sleep... So he let it go, deciding in his toddler mind his brother could join him later in figuring out what the new thing was. "Slee..." he mumbled the word, before something hit him... Yes. This new person must be a slee! That was the only logical answere. "Sleeslee!" he exclaimed happilly, nearly pulling himself over the side of the stroller while pointing. Oh yes, he was a genious.

Prolixity
"Hi! Who is you?" Merlyn peered over the side of the stroller with great interest, holding onto it to keep his balance for the moment. Two others! And a mama. And there was someone over there who felt weird, but she wasn't actively poking him, and so he ignored her for now in favor of the people his size.

Prox padded after Merlyn at a more sedate pace, smiling. He dipped a quick bow to the woman with the two toddlers. "Hi. Merlyn's loud, but friendly," he said.

Akivara
((Aha! I thought something up!))

Kita ran up the sidewalk, looking over her shoulder and almost stumbling several times. Eventually the little hell-hound girl made it through the door, looking around in a paranoid manner before stuffing herself into a seat not visible from the front door and windows and curled into a ball, making herself as small as possible.

Junyi
At Merlyn's notice of her, Luna turned her head slightly toward him, not quite looking at him, but more looking through him and the toddlers and parents.

There was something... weirdly familiar about him, but she couldn't quite place her finger on--

Ah! There it was! It was there when she'd spoken to Ilex before. And that meant...

She lowered herself from the chair awkwardly, skirt falling over her face as she flipped backward. Her feet hit the ground with a loud clack, and as her skirt finally righted itself, she made her way over to the others, gaze fixated on Merlyn.

Ruveila Hokuten
The doors to the clinic opened to reveal a silver hooded and cloaked figure that smelt of sunscreen and rose petels. her eyes glowed blood red from under the hood of the cloak and where her hands were exposed, snow white skin was shown in her tiny digits. She could not have been more than 5-10 years old and a few strands of dark raven black hair fell from under the cloak. The figure darted into a lesser lit corner of the main room of the clinic and sat down.

((Novena Skye <-- thats who I am using))

Arafel
((Sorry had to show my parents something XD))

Futoeki blinked as he was questioned, taking a moment to place the words. Oh wait! He knew this one, "Fuutowkee." He smiled widely as he stated his fairly hard to say name and slapped his hand against his chest. With that he pointed back at the boy infront of him "Slee." He nodded once, before going off on a toddler ramble of repeating things again "SleeSleesleeeee."

Arafel had paused to take a moment to tuck in the tired toddler, carefully putting his favorite blanket over him. As soon as the fabric touched him he seemed to "knonk out." Smiling a bit she turned back to the scene infront of her, raising a brow at her own child "Futoeki, I don't think he's sleepy..." She only earned a confused look.
Shaking her head a bit she turned to look up at the other parent "Oh, Hi.. No worries, Futoeki and Iteru are loud as well." She almost laughed, fairly was an understatement... "I'm Arafel, and... This is Futoeki and Iteru." She gestured.

Futoeki lost his attention to the boy infront of him as he heard someone else enter, tail wagging excitedly. And then another girl was walking over. he almost looked overjoyed at the sight of all the people, much opposed to Arafel's reaction, looking much like a puppy as he struggled against the stroller's seatbelt. "Nnnn... Go!" he whined at the belt, commanding it to free him.

Akivara
Kita stayed in that position for a moment, then risked a peek. She saw Razito walking quickly by, and he cast an annoyed glance inside; Kita shrank back, waiting a moment or two longer before peeking out again. Razito was gone.

Kita sighed with relief; Razito wasn't very happy right now and she didn't want to face him. She got to her feet and looked around, seeing who else was here, and wondered what she could do until Razito came back on the other side of the street.

((I found my ref piiiic of Kita. I figure it's needed 'cause it's been so long since she's shown up. http://www.MyOnlineImages.com/Members/Akivara2/images/Kita.PNG ))

Prolixity
"I Merlyn." The kitten blinked at Futoeki, and repeated, "Slee? What that?" He paused, thought about the sentence, and corrected himself. "What is that?"

The girl who felt weird was coming over towards them. One ear swiveled, and he peeked out of the corner of his eye at her.

"I'm Prolixity." Prox sat down in a nearby chair, keeping a sharp eye on his young son and the other children. "Nice to meet you. They're adorable." He nodded towards the toddlers in the stroller.

Someone scuttled in the door, and Prox tensed slightly. The way the girl moved set off reflexes developed in other times, on other worlds. Was she being pursued? Why had she come to a clinic to hide, if that was the case? He resolved to stay alert, just in case.

Junyi
Luna blinked, head tilting at the adults and the two toddlers that hadn't yet caught her full interest. She then turned to Merlyn, head tilting even further as she studied him.

Yup. Definitely had the right ears for that.

With that decided, she smiled brightly, leaned forward, and gave his cheek her most polite lick.

There! She did it right, right? whee

Ruveila Hokuten
Novena looked around briefly before sliding her hooded cloak off and the silvery garment hit the floor silently. Her raven hair fell down and stopped just above her ribcage. Her skin was pale milky white and her eyes an intense ruby red. She gazed around briefly and looked over at the group of children and parents, sipping a red liquid from a small cup with a clear straw.

Anyone that had the sense to tell such things, could identify the liquid as blood and a few other non Gaian herbs mixed in it. Her body smelt of layers of sunscreen and rose blossoms. She looked for all the world to be albino if not for the hair on her head and eyebrows. She was definately not of this world. She slinked along the dark portions of the wall, almost as if the sun scared her as she neared the other children, looking quite lonely but yet curious. her long elf like ears twitched slightly as she picked up sounds.

Arafel
Arafel tensed as more people seemed to flood into the clinic. Her shoulders seemed to hunch as she'd occassionally glance here and there to keep check on them, as if she felt they might jump her at any moment. And who could blame her...
"It's nice to meet yo..." she froze as a scent hit her more cannine-like-nose, blood? Her tail rose a bit, quickly looking over her own children, then around the center for the source of the smell. Her eyes locked on the liquid a woman was holding, leting out a sigh of releif. No danger...

Futoeki continued to struggle against the belt "Go!" he commanded again. Ignoring the question for the moment.

The struggles caught the mother's attention as she tried to relax herself, leaning foreward to undo the strap and carefully move him to the floor.

Futoeki grinned as he was freed, then returned to his 'conversation' "Boodah slee." he pointed to his sleeping sibling. He froze as the girl licked the boy infront of him, then bursting into a fit of giggles. "Keeee!" he exclaimed to the sight of the kee, or kiss, he carefully situated his feet under him to pounce forth upon the kitten-boy. "Kee!" he exclaimed again, giving a much more sloppy and wet version of what luna had just done, tail wagging rapidly.

Prolixity
Prox watched the pale girl sliding along the wall cautiously, his nose also picking up the scent of blood. Vampire, perhaps? She wasn't acting like a predator, though, and he cautiously mentally marked her as not threatening. He turned his attention back to the children, and realized belatedly that Arafel had said something. "Ah, excuse me?" he asked, one ear going back in embarrassment.

He blinked at Luna. What - ?

Merlyn's ears flicked. This girl said hi like cats did! He arranged his ears and tail for a proper hello and stretched up to lick her cheek in return, and then licked Futoeki's cheek as well, just as pleased to be properly greeted by everyone. New friends!

Junyi
Luna squealed, eyes instinctively squeezing shut as Merlyn licked her cheek. The squeal quickly gave way to a giggle, which, in turn, gave way to squeals of laughter.

Tickle! was the only word she managed to project as she leaned toward Futoeki and repeated the process with him, as well.

There! Now they were ALL friends!

Akivara
Kita stopped herself from laughing as she watched the group lick each other, and shook her head. As dog-like as she might be, she'd never think of licking anyone. She thought it was kinda gross.

As Kita caught the scent of blood, she gulped and raised her hands to her head, holding it, while dropping into the chair behind her. The glow of her eyes grew brighter as she struggled against something unexpected rising in her mind, something violent. The inner hell-hound growled at this resistance, it wanted to kill and to eat!

Kita's eyes snapped wide open as she realized what her instincts were telling her to do, and gulped with fear. She didn't want to hurt anyone, but all she could do was fight while the smell of blood was in her nose.

A sudden idea coursed through Kita's brain, and one of her hands left her head to plug her nose. Though she could smell, all she could smell was her own hand. With the blood smell gone, the inner hell-hound diminished, and she sighed in relief, though still didn't take her hand off her nose. She looked around embarassedly, ready with an excuse for anyone who'd noticed her acting strangely.

Ruveila Hokuten
Novena grew close to the children and put her cup away. She then knelt down with them and realized they were almost all bigger than she was. A pale hand gentle readjusted her robes and as she spoke, her voice was an elegnet and soft toned one, alamost like the whisper of wind on a cool day. " Why.. you lick.. faces?" She asked, her eyes squinting slightly at the adults, almost liek she had trouble seeing them. She shifted her position and a tiny hint of wings on her back emeged, looking identical to a bat. She then tugged gently on her large and long white ears. " I called.. Novena..."

Arafel
Arafel blinked, having forgotten her mannors and flushing some. "Oh i was just saying it was nice to meet you..." She gave an awkward smile. Jumping a bit as Futoeki lurched foreward. "Futoeki don...!" She trailed off as the child returned the animal-greeting. She smiled some, releived that her pup's strange ways hadn't gotten him rejected. She let out a soft laugh at the sight of a pile of children all exhanging licking greetings.

Futoeki's tail seemed to wag even more. "Yaaaa!" he cheered, throwing his arms in the air only to lose his balance and fall to the ground giggling. Yay for friends!

Arafel's own tail wagged some behind her... It reminded her of the way her and her brother would play and greet eachother when they were just pups... Those actions had been rejected by others though, thank goodness times were changing.
She froze once more as the sudden feeling of danger struck her senses, she shook her head... hoping that feeling would pass. You're just being paranoid... she scolded herself, uncontiously reaching a hand into the stroller to place it on her other child, the boy giving a shift and grasping hold of her hand.

Futoeki looked up as another potential friend reached them, "Fuuutooowwkeee." he pointed to himself, struggling out the difficult vowels again. Tsh, why was everyone making him say it?

Prolixity
Something? Something scary! Merlyn's ears flattened abruptly against his head. With a swirl and puff of warm air, he changed shape and went leaping into his father's lap in kitten form, tail puffed. "Scary, Daddy!"

"Ah, I'm sorry, I didn't he - Merlyn? What's wrong?" Prox's other ear went back as he cradled Merlyn, glancing around the room with a frown.

"Scary thing," the kitten said. "Mad thing." He couldn't explain the burst of anger and fear, but it had frightened him. He peered at the other children to see if it had scared them too. They'd heard it, right?

Junyi
Luna heard it loud and clear. Her head jerked abruptly upward and she whirled around, hair and skirts flying as she locked eyes with Jokeph, who looked ready to fight to the death for her, grab her and run, or both.

The smile disappeared from her face.

Jo will protect us, she projected reassuringly at the other children. Me too. I'll protect you.

Akivara
At the sudden outbursts, Kita looked around in confusion, still plugging her nose; she wasn't sure if the source of the smell of blood was gone.

"Whud's goin' on? Why's eberybody scared?" she asked, sounding congested from her plugged nose.

Ruveila Hokuten
Novena took all the sudden fear around her as being because of her and the girl's lower lip trembled and she realized she had no one to run to to comfort her as the tears beagan their swift trek down her pale face. She managed to choke out a few words before going silent. " I sorry.. no mean.. to scare... going 'way now.." She managed to get out inbetween silent sobs, wrapping her arms around her knees and burying her face in her silver robe covered knees.

Arafel
Arafel jumped slightly at the sudden movement infront of her, feeling her heartbeat jump as something had just moved fast past her pup... But it was only Merlyn.... She blinked, looking a tad befuddled at the kitten-once-child. He felt it too? So it wasn't just her being paranoid then?

Futoeki looked confused at the two as they went serious suddenlly, looking even more confused as the girl's voice was in his head. He wrote that one off though... Personally, he had been too busy playing to have noticed the abrupt change in the room. But now he was staring at the other children confused and concerned. If they were scared, he should be too right? Common toddler logic afterall...

Arafel jumped in at that moment, smiling brightly as she often did when she felt awkward. "Shh..." she muttered to the group of children, hoping the parents didn't mind her butting in... "It's gone now, right? So it's okay..." She nodded, leaning her free hand foreward to rub Futoeki's dog-ear.

Futoeki grinned, loosing all signs of going into crying-save-me-from-the-bad-thing-I-don't-know-about mode as he was petted. "Uuuhn!" Futoeki whined as the new friend was going to leave, quickly acting by crawling after her and giving her a wet slobbery friendship lick.

Arafel paused to look back over her shoulder to the clogged voice, tilting her head to the side as she noticed the woman holding her nose plugged. Still, she had little to speak of since her own behaviors were far from normal. "I'm not sure." She admitted, "Just.. a bad feeling.." she turned back to the toddlers, curiously wondering why they had noticed it too and what exactly it had been.

Prolixity
Merlyn's ears came back up slowly, and he peered back over the protective circle of his father's arms. "Pro-tect?" he inquired, and lifted his head. The thoght and the accompanying feelings were comforting.

There was a girl crying! That was bad. It was bad when anyone cried. He wriggled loose and jumped down, sneaking over to bump his head against the crying girl's hand. Blue liked that, so maybe she would too.

Prox slid down to kneel on the floor and pat the girl's shoulder gently. "It'll be okay, kiddo," he said awkwardly. Where was her parent, anyway?

Junyi
Luna bit her lip, gaze flicking from Arafel to Prox, and back again. She finally turned her attention back to Arafel and tapped her temple as if to say "I hear it in my head."

With that, she idly began to brush the dust off of her dress, cautiously opening her mind again.

Akivara
Kita still hadn't made the connection between her reaction to the smell of blood and the sudden burst of fear in the room; at home, she was used to that sort of thing being private.

"So everybody's okay?" She risked letting her fingers off her nose, though kept her hand on it just in case, and sniffed. If the scent was still there, it was masked by fear, air conditioning, and other, stronger, smells.

Ruveila Hokuten
Novena felt the lick on her face and lifted her head to regard the licker and looked into Futoeki's eyes and then felt the nudge against her hand and petted the kitten form Merlyn beside her. She then looked up to the adult speaking to her. She sucked up her tears as best as she could and managed a small smile.

" Thank much.. not use to friend.. or nice people.." She spoke and then, assuming the licking was some sort of acceptance into the children's little group, she leaned over and licked Futoeki's cheek and then the side of the kitten's face. She felt hair on her tongue but just swallowed it. She tended to accidently injest her own hair all the time and it did not bother her. She then regarded Prox and bowed her head respectfully, though a smile was firmly planted on the girl's face now.

Arafel
Arafel looked at the girl curiously, her head? It took her a few seconds but realization struck her and it showed in her expression. She nodded a bit... The girl saw or heard something... She smiled to Luna, trying to be reassuring. Arafel was around children often, special children... but children none the less, and she never was one to underestimate them. So she made a mental note to watch Luna in paticular... as well as merlyn perhaps, since they both seemed to know something.

She turned back to Kita, nodding some "Yea, I think we're all fine now." She paused to look over the children. Meryln seemed to be over whatever had happend, now concerned about the girl that had felt rejected. Futoeki and Prox had done the same, thus Arafel hadn't felt a need to help in the matter. Luna seemed to be getting more comfortable as well.

Futoeki grinned as more people joined him and the lonley girl, as he had so dubbed Novena. He clapped his hands as there was a lick returned, yay now there were four friends! Life sure was good. And for the moment, Arafel's initial plan of distracting him from his missing father was working splendidly.
Futoeki wiggled with happiness, feeling the urge to play-wrestle as he often did swelling up inside him until he just cound't resist it. He promptly fell to his back, grabbing hold of the nearest object, which happend to be prox's pantleg, to chew on it harmlessly with light growling noises.

Arafel blinked at the scene "Futoeki!" she scolded, hoping he wasn't actualy biting the poor adult as she edged herself over to save the poor pants.

Prolixity
"Yeah, I think we're all okay." Relieved, Prox moved to go back to his seat, only to be halted by the sudden attachment on his leg. He blinked down at Futoeki and chuckled. "Little hunter, aren't you?" He tugged his leg gently away, smiling.

That was better. Nobody was being loud and scary anymore, and his new friend was playing. Merlyn-kitten pounced up onto the nearest chair, then flung himself back down towards Futoeki. "DEAT' FROM ABOVE!"

Junyi
Boys.

Luna simply climbed into the chair next to Arafel, peering up at her with wide brown eyes.

Why are you going to keep an eye on me? Was I bad?

Ruveila Hokuten
Novena watched Merlyn just with some accute interest. She then remebred something she loved to play with and she had it with her. She reached into the small pants under the robe and pulled out a big bouncy ball, as big as her hand almost and lobbed it at the wall. She squalled with glee as it bounced off and came back to her. She repeated the same motion and watched it sail wide and to her right.

Arafel
Arafel chuckled at the sight of the children playfighting... Indeed, boys. Not that she couldn't say she had acted the same way when she was younger...
She froze for what seemed to be the bajillionth time that day, looking back at the girl. She bit her lip, mind reading perhaps? Arafel decided to test it simply answering in a clearer than normal thought. No, not at all... I was just curious as to what you heard and I felt is all. she explained, suddenlly feeling very awkward around the child as she tried to make sure her thoughts didn't run off on something she didn't want shared.

Futoeki rolled, tail thudding against the floor of the center as he lost his prey. Drat.
He let out a loud squeal as Meryln dive bombed him, promptly pounced and quicly returning the playful actions of rolling about in a classic tussle.

Prolixity
Prox took his seat again, relaxing back now that the crisis was over. "No claws, kitten," he admonished.

Merlyn tussled with Futoeki enthusiastically, clinging to the other toddler's clothes. That wasn't using claws, right? He bristled playfully and yowled at the other child. "Get you!"

Junyi
Luna smiled faintly at Arafel, smoothing her dress. Something bad, She explained. Dangerous.

She giggled faintly as she sensed Arafel's awkwardness. If you think about something you don't want to think about, you'll think about it. You know? She tilted her head to the side. I can't hear what you don't talk about. Promise.

With a final smoothing of her dress, she smiled brightly. My name is Luna Edae.

Ruveila Hokuten
Novena trailed after the ball and caught it. She then walked back over and slammed itintot he wall again, looking freaked when it headed right for Merlyn's head. " Um.. Fire in teh hole!" She ylled as her aunt Malice had a habit of saying.

Arafel
Futoeki giggled, grabbing and hugging at his new 'foe' Rolling about with tiny yips and nips that would never actually touch Merlyn. "Nuh!" He grinned, continueing to struggle back and forth to gain the winning position of having the other pinned.

Arafel nodded a bit, rather impressed with the child's talent. Alright. I'm Arafel. I don't have a last name. She explained the missing peice of her name, smiling a bit and looking to the tussling toddlers once more. She gave a tiny shake of her head, noting the occassional fidget and whine from Iteru... All this commotion was starting to disturb his nap. Her eyes moved towards the clock on the wall.... Hm. It was nearly time for Futoeki's as well.

Nodding to herself she stood, turning to the Luna "It was a pleasure to meet you, you're very sweet." Arafel gave her a smile and a pat on the head as she often did when she found something cute and likeable. "But I think we'll have to be going..." She then turned to Prox and Futoeki's new playmate. "It was nice meeting you too..." Though something in her mind reminded her she had seen prox somewhere before. "Come on pup..."

Futoeki looked to his mother just as he was about to gain control, quickly getting pinned as he was distracted. "Nnn..." he whined, not wanting to leave, and allready slightly fussy from being close to his nap.

Arafel knelt down, holding her arms out to call him over.

Futoeki nodded, pushing himself to his feet, wobbling and falling after a step then crawling the rest of the way... Much easier. Arafel scouped him up, already he was starting to get that glazed sleepy look. With that she carefully tucked him into his part of the twin-stroller, moving it back towards the door with a wave towards everyone, somewhat releived to get away from the crowd... Even if they were all nice and good people she couldn't help but feel nervious around them.

((Sorry, had to go. :B Figured this would be a good place to wrap things up. <33 ))

Prolixity
"Nice to meet you." Prox nodded to Arafel and her children as she left. Nice woman, cute kids. A flash of motion caught his eye, and he reached out automatically to catch the speeding ball. "Careful!"

Merlyn pouted. His playmate was going away. ... And Daddy had caught the ball! He shapechanged again and held his hands out. "Mine!" The girl had bounced it towards him, after all.

Junyi
Luna yawned quietly behind one hand, watching the others play.

Before she had the chance to project any feelings of tiredness, she was already being swept up by Jokeph, who kept his eyes firmly fixated on the door as he carried her out.

He was NOT happy.

Luna did have the chance to wave at Merlyn, though.

I'll play with you later--

With that, she was gone.

"C'mon, Zhane, its a shot, not the end of the world..." Kendall sighed, holding the door open with one arm and flicking his tail impatiently as he waited for the younger boy to enter the GMFC.

"How come they call it a booster shot anyway?" Zhane grumped as he stuffed his hands in his pockets and reluctantly sidled into the clinic, his wings tensing a bit in the air-conditioned lobby.

"Because they inject it into you so hard that it boosts you straight up to the ceiling." Kendall replied non-chalantly, already grabbing Zhane's arm before he could bolt back out the door, snickering as he hauled him toward the sitting area. "Because it gives your immune system a boost so you don't get sick every time you go outside, that's all." he explained.

"But I DON'T get sick every time I go outside..." Zhane argued. Ordinarily he was pretty compliant, but the idea of sitting still while someone jabbed a needle in his arm didn't sit well with him.

"Yeah, not NOW, but then someday you'll get stung by a bee, and BAM! You're gonna spend the rest of your life in a plastic bubble wearing a nightgown." Kendall countered.

Zhane opened his mouth to retalliate, found he had no argument for this mental image, and shuddered slightly. The idea of never going outside again was enough to make him agreeable. For now. Keeping a wary eye on Kendall, he sat down and grabbed for a magazine.

Stupid booster shots....

Luna's head tilted as the pair entered the clinic. Two unfamiliar people... both upside-down. Well. Right-side-up, to be precise. It was she who was upside down.

Feet on the floor, back on the chair-back? Bah. It just wasn't as comfortable as having her head on the floor and her legs resting on the back of the chair, with her legs crossed at the ankles. Her skirt was frilly enough to cover everything her mother warned her to keep covered in public (Or even in the house), so it wasn't like she was doing anything wrong, anyway.

Shots, was it? Luna smiled faintly, holding out one arm. There was a roll of gauze pressed against her inner elbow, held by a bright pink band-aid. It couldn't be any worse than having blood drawn, and it didn't even hurt all that much.

Just like a mosquito bite.

Right? She punctuated her thoughts with that one projected word.

Zhane rifled through the magazine in pensive silence for a moment, the only sound passing between the two boys being the sound of paper shifting.

"Look, it wasn't MY idea, okay?" Kendall sighed. "Your mom called me this morning and asked if I'd mind bringing you here because she was going shopping with Dad and Envy."

More silence and three more pages turned.

"I'D rather be home playing Jaws, if I could have it my way. Its my day off." he continued before a flash of pink caught the corner of his eye and he turned his head, realizing they were not alone as he eyed the upside-down girl sitting by herself in one of the chairs.

"Hey," Kendall smiled, flexing his fingers at her in greeting. "Didn't see ya there."

Zhane looked up, blinking at Ken and then turned his head in the direction of whom he was addressing. Wow, somebody HIS age. That didn't happen very often these days. His reservations about the shot momentarily forgotten, Zhane likewise smiled at Luna.

Hello! Luna grinned widely and waved her arm awkwardly, her position making it difficult for her to fully wave hello.

You have to see the doctor too?

"Yeah..." Zhane sighed, his face going gloomy again. "I've gotta hold still and let him stick me with a needle."

"Booster shot, kiddo..." Kendall corrected him, catching him in a playful headlock and noogeying him, though he relented quickly when the younger boy didn't put up much of a struggle.

Not bothering to straighten his touseled hair, Zhane's eyes fell to the small bandage on Luna's arm and he winced.

"Aw man, they got you too?" he asked, trying to sound sympathetic though his eyes were suddenly aglow with curiousity as though he was asking a soldier how he lost his leg. "Was it bad? How big was the needle?"

Different! Luna shook her head from side to side, the smile not leaving her face. Different needle for different things. I got a rubber band around this arm and it SQUEEZED and that hurt more than the needle. Her feet kicked slightly as she considered the ordeal.

Not so bad. They had to take some blood for some tests. Your needle will be different. Just a little stick in the arm for a second.

"A rubber band?" Zhane questioned, and then turned to Kendall accusingly "You didn't say anything about a rubber band!"

"They're not going to use one, that's why. Now settle...you sound like your dad." Kendall muttered, having picked up a Highlights For Children to leaf through.

Deciding Luna was infinately more interesting company than Kendall at the moment, Zhane got up from his seat and relocated closer to the pink-and-purple young lady and plumped down a couple of seats away from her.

"What kind of tests?" he questioned, looking her over as his tail lashed slightly with intrigue. "Do they give it back afterward?" Obviously Zhane and doctor's offices weren't well-acquainted after he had grown beyond being an infant.

"My name's Zhane, by the way." he offered, realizing he hadn't yet. "Sorry, I'm just kinda out of it right now. Ken didn't tell me what we were coming here for till we got to the front door."

"Because it would've been that much harder to wrestle you out the door, that's why." Kendall put in, not looking up from his magazine.

It's different, Luna emphasized, biting her lip in thought. And I don't really know what they're for. Mama said the government needed to know some things about me that are in my blood.

Finally deciding the chair was getting a little TOO uncomfortable for her liking, Luna slowly slid downward until her legs were suddenly below her head, and she was holding onto the seat bottom to regain her sense of up and down.

My name's Luna Edae. It's nice to meet you, Zhane!

"Nice to meet you too, Luna!" Zhane grinned, deciding he'd asked enough questions about needles and blood. Somehow, it didn't feel polite, despite the fact nobody had told him to shush yet. "I hardly ever get to meet other kids...we live kinda far from here."

"Cuz your dad's a creepy hermit." came the peanut gallery of Kendall once more.

Zhane rolled his eyes and opted not to answer. "Do you come here a lot?"

Luna tilted her head to the side, studying Zhane intently. Well, he certainly LOOKED different, that was sure. She idly wondered if people with his kind of ears and tail licked each other hello, as well?

She opted not to risk it.

Kindasortamaybe. An emphatic nod. There are good puzzles here. Jo and I come here because I like the puzzles. She paused briefly. Jo's my guardian. He's on the roof right now. He has to stay close or else he gets really upset, but he didn't want to be TOO close when I had my blood taken. My hurt hurts him a little, and he probably would've been all like-- "RARRRRR!" The last part, she said aloud, bringing her hands upward and mimicking a monster's claws.

Zhane looked briefly at the ceiling as she explained, as though that might help him see this elusive Jo. All he saw was light fixtures, however. At her massive "RAR" he jolted a bit and then laughed.

"I live with my mom and dad....and my little sister." he explained. "Dad doesn't really like people so we only go out when we have to...it really sucks."

He swung his legs idly from the chair, his wings resituating themselves into a more comfortable position on his back. "That's why when I get old enough, I'm gonna be an explorer and see all kinds of places and people."

Another headtilt. You have a little sister too? I have a big little sister!

Luna giggled quietly, pacing in front of Zhane. Reeeeeeeeeally? Are you going to see other planets, too?

"We adopted my little sister." he nodded. "Her mom couldn't keep her or something...I dunno...I was too little to remember and Dad gets mad whenever I ask him about it and says it'll upset Phae."

At her question, Zhane's eyes seemed to sparkle. Other planets...? He hadn't even thought of that. Frankly, he would've been happy just to explore that thicket of trees that was just beyond the park...

"Wow, maybe!" he grinned. his wings vibrating with excitement. "That'd be awesome! What about you? What're you gonna do when you're older?"

Ohhhhh... Luna frowned slightly, clasping her hands behind her back. Perhaps it would be better to focus on the more fascinating topic at hand.

I don't know! She furrowed her brow. I never thought about it, really. Maybe I'll... "Hmmmm." Maybe I'll help people. Maybe I can teach! And... and maybe I can be an explorer, too! Someone who talks to new peoples and makes peace and friendship and... She paused as she struggled to come up with the word. A diplomat!

"Like the ones on TV!" Zhane put in, clearly enjoying this conversation. That actually sounded pretty cool too, but he was less about peacemaking and more about poking around in new places he knew nothing about. "You can talk to the people, and I'll explore the caves and the mountains and stuff!"

"Zhane Breslin?"

The mood of the happy conversation was shattered as a nurse appeared in the doorway of the waiting area, a clipboard hugged to her chest as she looked between the two boys there.

"That's your cue, kid." Kendall smiled over the top of his Highlights.

Zhane felt the bottom drop out of his stomach as he eyed the nurse warily.

"Um...yeah?"

"Follow me, please." she said with a winning smile, beckoning him closer. To Zhane, it looked like she was trying overly-hard NOT to look like she was going to jab him with a needle at the earliest opportunity.

He gave a deep-chested sigh and looked to Luna helplessly. "Guess I gotta go..." he groaned.

Luna giggled behind one hand, considering Zhane's offer. So that means I get to go with you when you explore? It's a deal!

Her attention snapped to the nurse as she called for Zhane, and then back to her new friend.

Be strong, okay? It's only a second, okay?

With that, she waved slowly. I'll see you another time, okay! Hopefully when we're not getting poked. With a reassuring nod, she retreated to a half-finished puzzle left in the corner of the clinic. I'll be right here. Good luck!

"Thanks," he said, offering her a half-smile before trudging off to meet his fate like a man about to go forth on death row.

"Don't worry," Kendall called after him. "I'll tell everybody you went out without a blindfold. You'll be a hero."

Had it not been for the presense of the nurse, Zhane might have reacted again like his father and presented Kendall with a one-fingered salute. Instead, he merely continued his trudge out of the room as the nurse swept the door closed after them.

Kendall quietly made note that from now one when Talon and/or Yeande called to ask him to drive Zhane anywhere near this place, he was going to conveniently be "on his way out the door to work".

A little preparation, a little darkroom magic, and voila! A diffused portrait of my own daughter. It's hard to believe she's twelve. I mean... look at that dress. I'm not complaining, of course. I know mothers of twelve-year-olds who are fighting tooth and nail to keep their baby girls from going out looking like cheap hookers. But part of me wonders if Luna's a little... old for this style of dress.

She doesn't really seem to think so. She likes dressing up. She likes frilly dresses, and she likes the way the skirts bounce as she moves.

She takes good care of them, even when she's rolling around in the grass. I haven't seen a grass stain on her dresses yet, and her tights are easily replacable. She outgrows them about as fast as she ruins them, anyway.

I am a little concerned that she seems to be taking stuffed animals out in public again. I thought she outgrew THAT habit when she was five. Isn't she worried about being teased and called a baby?

...I don't know. She seems to enjoy it when adults pat her on the head and tell her how "positively darling" she looks.

It's probably just a phase. She'll most likely grow out of it when she discovers makeup that doesn't get drawn into swirly lines on her cheeks. You can't look "adult" in a kid dress, you know!

Diary Dearest,

Try new writing for self that is simplest feeling. Grammar unimportant as things.

Playing with Soft Loud for digging to Big Little Sister's Hero's land. Master of thought with many statues Zhuge Liang.

Blood needed examination by Home, but General sees not my sameness with Specials. Many confusion. Silent in motives not silent enough. I hear through personal wall. Like celing flies, none see me. Would be worried if she sees. But ceiling flies uninterested in thoughts. Interested in feeling.

Conflict of feeling. Right or wrong? For the many, wrongs can be rights. Justification.

General silences until my future. A choice to be made.

Saw ocean with Angel. Peace. Supposed to play but would rather hear. We hear together. We feel together. Always feeling together. Always one. That is we.

Academy question asked. Do not want. Want to learn the world myself. To hear and to Hear are different. Want to Hear. Choice is mine.

Feel Earth calling.

It is almost time.

Soon.
