"I'm just insane!" Zira put in happily, "And besides, the fact that you even showed up makes you like the pot calling the kettle... something... Ooooh." Her eyes brightened with some thoroughly mad idea. "Talking cutlery!" Without further explanation, she disappeared.

The Stranger closed his eyes, and for a moment, looked like he was a reflex away from facepalming himself. Opening his eyes again, he said, "I suppose I should go make sure she doesn't try to get anyone killed, and thereby bring down the Spirit of Vengeance on all of you."

Without another word, the Stranger vanished, as if he had never been there.

The Joker looked at the Batman, and replied, "Oh, but you were so keen on having me along for the ride, now you don't want to make small talk? Oh, come on, talk to me. OH! Here's a conversation starter! Going back to that night, with Gordon and niece... Remember that joke I told you? I think that was the only time I've ever seen you smile! Crystal, as Nohboddy was jumping across the rooftops when she stopped, seeing a group of people on one particular roof. Curious, she decided to take a sniff and spy, if possible, on the group to see what was going on.
She swiftly jumped the last couple of buildings and settled down behind the group, hidden by a vent top.

Crazy rolled his eyes yet again. He glanced briefly over at the other two. Cupid had another arrow ready to be launched, but relaxed at his side. His eyes, however, were trained behind him. For two people who played with emotion, it was nothing to feel when another being was nearby.
"Relax." the cat said. "She's harmless."

Crystal's eyes went low, feeling a bit insulted but was more agitated by being referred to as harmless. She stood up straight and walked out from behind the ventilation shaft. And bowed politely. "I am sorry for the intrusion. I was just curious as to why there was a group of..." She stopped for a moment to look the others over for a moment before continuing, "beings congregated up here on the roof."
Crystal smiled from behind her mask as she watched the others closely.

"Watching..." the woman sitting on the ledge of the building with the blond french braid replied.
"Working." the man with the bow and arrow held at his side replied. His large wings moved in the breeze a bit, then he curled them tightly against his back.
"Watching." the slim black cat replied. He paused a moment, then smiled a large, Cheshire grin at the girl. "Crystal, correct?"
He had nothing else to do at the moment, why not play?

"I am Nohboddy thank you. I would just adore being called so." Her eyes narrowed for a moment before she sighed. "But any who. What are y'all watching and working on? If I may be so bold to ask?" Her ears twitched and her tail swayed as she watched the others still, her gaze lingering on Cupid's wings for a moment.

Batman shot Joker an utterly humorless look that seemed to answer the question fairly well, and then brought his hand up to the side of his cowl. "Oracle, I need that update."
"On the whole 'Gotham fusing with other cities' thing?"
"Yes."
There was a sigh. "I'm working on it. Really. I'll contact you as soon as I have something."
"Hurry."
"You're welcome," she replied snarkily.

Joker just pressed on. "What was it about that joke, then? Was it just the timing? The setting? The style of humor? Come on, telle, tell me. I won't let anyone know. I promise! I can't let anyone else be stealing punchlines from me, after all. Please?" The clown leaned in close to Batman. A little too close. In a whisper, he said, "If you tell me, I'll be your friend..."

Batman's hand snapped out, and there was a sudden, brief hissing sound. Then he pulled his hand back from the Joker's neck, coolly disposed of the injection device he was holding, and brought it back to the steering wheel. The whole thing was accomplished without so much as looking away from the road.

Constant self-abuse of chemicals made the effect take a little longer than it would other people. "Bats. Didn't know you cared..." And with that, the clown passed out into a drug-induces sleep, slumping onto Batman's shoulder like it was a pillow.
