The main chandeliar, the largest and the grandest of the building, shook slightly - although no one took the care to notice. It chinked slightly as it swayed, the heavy metal and chains that held the object that weighed over a tonne quietly groaned. There sounded something striking against the metal chains, it was soon lost into the rolling thunder outside as the chandeliar twisted and lurched before it plummeted to the floor right over the heads of the dancers.
There were a few cries from the lords and ladies as they tried to escape it, although a few got crushed as the heavy object crashed to the floor. It shattered across the floor, the candles all blown out by the heavy fall. The ballroom went silent for a few seconds before people began to panic in the semi-darkened room.
There was the slamming of doors, the two great oak doors that made up the front entrance bolted shut as well as all of the doors that led elsewhere outside of the ballroom. The monarch stood sharply at this, watching the chaos unfold whilst her guards tried to usher her out of the room with panicky voices.
A second chandeliar fell from the ceiling, destroying the large and long tables of food and drink. This one wasn't as large and decorated as the grand chandeliar, but it still caused a lot of damage. Luckily, no one was hurt this time. Although the room was cast further into darkness, only a single candle still burning from the second chandeliar.
Sparrow stood, quite calmly, as the people rushed about him. He held his cane in his right hand, his hand flopped leisurely over the handle, whilst he concentrated on the noises about him. What he had hoped wouldn't happen, did.

The silver-haired teen let out a squeak at the first chandelier dropping. HEr sapphire hues peering over at the mess of glass and wax. she blinked a few times, soon her attention turning to the chaos of everyone running around in an attempt to get out of the building.
She sighed heavily, bringing her knees to her chest as she watched it all unfold. Deciding it best to keep a cool head at this point in time. IT was only chandeliers falling. True, they caused destruction and took a few people with them but until something endangered her, she did not plan on moving. She was perfectly fine with watching all the dolled up men and women scurry about through the darkness.

Lucille became more and more uneasy as the central chandelier began behaving oddly. "You're not listening to a word I say!" the young Lord Popplewell declared indignantly, and huffed off, Downey fussing and apologising in his wake. My my, she thought to herself. That was convenient. The small moment of triumph was interrupted as the oscillating chandelier let out another uncomfortable groan. Then all hell broke loose. In the total confusion as the great heavy structure came crashing down in the middle of the dancefloor, Lucille sought out that moment of calm, the still quiet pool of space which so usually surrounded her counterpart, Sparrow. Bumping and jostling her way through the now-tightly-packed crowd of panicking revellers, she eventually made her way to that envelope of stillness, coming beside Sparrow just as the second chandelier demolished one of the buffet tables. "Lovely sort of a night, is it not, my lord?" she asked drily. *** The chandelier's descent took even James by surprise. He had certainly not prescribed that particular tactic. While most people were looking at the ruin on the dancefloor, he cast his eyes upward, and tactfully chose to position himself somewhat closer to the already-fallen chandelier than any still hanging.
It was all turning out to be such fun!

Sparrow turned his head slightly to acknowledge Lucille's appearance, but he soon returned it to its normal position within two seconds. "They are on the ceiling and roof. Two at the oak doors." he murmured quietly, still concentrating on the noises about him and trying to drown out the noise of the panicking people, "That's all I know at the moment."

Lucille considered this.
"Are there any more of ours here, that you know of?"
...
James spotted a rather pretty young woman he half recognised through the confusion. He had some time yet, no reason to waste it.
"My lady," he adressed the silver-haired young lady, as he melted out from the panicking crowds. "Are you alright?

[[ Room for another "guest"? Yes I did read page 1 and everything since them wink ]]
{{ Baron Karlsfeld Vonn Nehe-Ein-Anderes-Tahl }}
The salt and pepper haired minor lord from Silesia was dressed in the expected black and gold uniform of a prussian officer. Just another guest from the continent. A hapless, affable smile paired with a shy demeanor compensated for the obvious battle-scars. The eypatch and what was obviously a wooden leg kept the young laddies at bay and the young lords had quickly grown bored with his lack of skill with the english tongue.
When the commotion stated he was not to far from the food table between two sets of the large glass doors to the balconies overlooking the gardens.
The two young lords to be who had him cornered and pesterined with questions earlier had already entered a panic which he quickly dispelled along with their conciousness. They would most likely live for another day being lost in the confusion and tangle of bodies strew about already.
Colapsing into the curtains by the doors he quickly removed the accoutrements of his disguise, unfolding himself, and scanning the chaos for his wards.
With an impreceptible sigh of releif he noted that no large fires had started. A small blessing of the dank damp British environment.
It looked as if his wards were in relative saftey at the moment and only two of their retainers were caught in the initial attack. The remaining members of the retinue were performing as expected and ushering the group to remains of the tables as a defensible position.
Now to wait with weapons at the ready for the true attacks to begin.

Slowly, the girl's eyes tilted up to the boy's who suddenly appeared in front of her. "I am fine, thank you." She said in a gentle tone with a small bow of her head, random strands of her silver locks falling from her neatly done hair and to cover her face as she sat upright again.
her right leg lifting up slightly to cross over her left, eyes slipping from the boy to the chaos then back to him. Blinking ever so gently as she awaited to see if there was some purpose for him to have shown up. She thought nothing rude of it it was just that she did not plan on moving anytime soon. There was truly no need. Her life was not in danger. Nothing was over head to fall on her.

"Ah, good. That is well." He took a seat beside her, and looking out into the body of the hall, continued, "I daresay this evening is proving rather a lot more exciting than anyone could have anticipated."
Flipping blonde locks back out of his face, he turned his piercing pale-blue gaze to meet her sapphire hues. "Wouldn't you say?"

The girl gava a small nod to the boy beside her. "I would say so." She said softly, her sapphire eyes not leaving his gaze. She gave a small smile to him. She sighed gently, pulling her eyes away from his to have them return to the chaos. "Was not what mother expected." She said simply with a gentle laugh, a smile forming to her pale lips as she continued to peer out and at how little of the people were left.

The first wave of chaos was begining to ebb and those not already dead, dying or badly wounded were getting fewer and farther between.
It seems that there were those who took the initial chaos as an oprotunity to heal old slights with steel. The well heeled, experienced and forthright guests seem to have taken what shelter the could on the sidelines. Most of the others had fled the room by whatever egress they could find like a flock of frightened geese and most likely are to meet with a most uncertain fate by now.
His discerning hearing picking up distance muffled screams and oaths and possibly the heavy wet whump of a body meeting mother earth from a great height somewhere just outside the windows. Be they invited or the uninvited, only the mornings light will be able to reveal that truth.
Hopefully the crows will not be the only ones to greet the now seemingly far distant morn.
