I was wondering if the civvie/school stages and the senshi stage had to correspond exactly? I know it's standard to but for future characters, is it possible to vary in both their looks? For example, hair down, sunglasses on, hair in a different style, variations like that?
rosemilk: It doesn't have to -- what we put the kibosh on is having hair of different length/colour unless you do something metaplotty (for example, I have Charys' hair growing out brunette. Any further stages she had, and she may not have them as fourth stage is purely metaplot, would have brown hair.
But it's fine to have style variations.
LizzyMoo: Just to add my two cents as well, perfect example of what would be fine for hairstyles is Linarite/Audrey. It's the same color/length, just worn a bit differently. Just make sure you request these things in your forms, otherwise the artists will assume you want the hair to be the exact same for civvie/powered forms.
Also, I've noticed that princess/general king now have requirements in the upgrade thread! Provided we meet the requirements, is this applicable to RL customs? : D
rosemilk: Sorry, but this is a mistake. As I've said before in some of the FAQs, Princess and GK should not actually be reachable through requirements -- the error on the frontpage is probably mine and I wasn't thinking.
GK and Princess/Prince are ONLY reachable through metaplot. You are not necessarily guaranteed a fourth stage. These are three-stage pets.

Do all cavaliers have the ability to toss show-stopping flora?
rosemilk: I am really hoping so. Canonically, Endymion and Alexandros both can -- it may just be that the Prince of Earth and the prince of the other Earth can do this amazing trick.
codalion: Alas, roses are a Prince of Earth thing alone. I know you're disappointed that Miriam cannot fling white roses at things instead of stab them, as surely if she could she would renounce her stabbing ways for a better tomorrow. We may never live to see that day.

An idle curiosity I had while regarding canon souls, specifically for senshi:
So far, both Nealite and Sailor Pegasus have their "alternate" forms of Beryl and Helios respectively. In regards to a senshi soul, let's say Sailor Twinkle, Senshi of Electrical Sockets received Sailor Jupiter's soul.
+ Would Sailor Jupiter's sphere of 'Thunder' override 'Electrical Sockets'?
+ Would Sailor Twinkle have access to Sailor Jupiter's moves?
+ If so, how many?
+ If not, would it be limited to the abilities the sailor would technically have if they were part of the shop? For Jupiter, that would be Supreme Thunder, Supreme Thunder Dragon, and Sparkling Wide Pressure.
+ Cosmetically, would hair/eye color change when a sailor was in their "other" form? In the case of Mercury, Uranus, and Saturn, would sailor scout hair get shorter due to the canon soul's short hair styles, or would it become just as long as the others in order to make up for the shortness? :3
Thank you! <3
Natsube: I think this is one of those times when I am going to stay mysterious-- until canon souls come, I'm not telling! LEAVE ME SOME SECRETS.
Shazari: WE LET YOU HAVE LOTS OF SECRETS. I didn't tell anyone what you're wearing RIGHT NOW under your clothes!
Natsube: SHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. NOW THEY KNOW I WEAR CLOTHES!!!

Hey, guys. From earlier in the thread: Mouse Pachinkorelli Refresh my memory, how "old" does a concept have to be to fit as a power sphere? I know the general rule is "the time of the Silver Millenium," but there's a bit of a lack of consistency on that front (is it medieval times or predating human history?) -- so, is "at least a thousand years" a good frame of reference? codalion: Yeah, this is subjective -- at least a thousand years is good, with some more recent exceptions. I would say the hard and fast line is "absolutely before the age of gunpowder."rosemilk: The problems mainly stem from the fact that the Silver Millenium is a very vague time in our history, thanks Naoko. We're assuming that due to the fact that it's a complete civilisation, saying it's human prehistory is useless because it'll include a lot of civilisation concepts anyway. We'll be taking post-medieval concepts on a case by case basis. How would I go about getting confirmation for a potentially borderline sphere? Is there someone I can check it with for a definite yea-or-nay, or would I need to do up a whole quest and get it marked to find out? I don't want to waste my time on an impossible sphere, but I also would hate to give it up and then find out later that it could have worked. Thanks. codalion: Just PM one of us -- if there's any question, they'll check it by the others. If you'd like I can have a look at it!

Are Parallel cavaliers able to plug with another parallel senshi who they don't correspond with? That sounds strange like... Would it be possible for Glaucus to plug with Gaia instead of Ares? And Parallel Cavaliers can only plug in to parallel senshi correct?
I've gotten a few answers in the main thread but I want to to know for sure.
rosemilk: After powwowing with Coda just to make sure: yes, it'd be possible for any Parallel Cavalier to bond with any Parallel senshi, just like any White Earth cavalier can bond with any White Earth senshi. White Earth cavs can actually bond with Zodiacs, too, but much like the reason that Parallels don't bond with just any old senshi it's tradition -- you bond with your senshi so help you God.
So yes, it's possible Glaucus could bond with Gaia, not Ares, but they'd have to have a pretty spectacular reason.

A lot of people have been wondering, what is the equation for a power and a post? Like...say a power lasts 5 minutes. Does that translate for 5 posts?
codalion: That really depends on the RP. The real-time pace at which RPs move varies from scene to scene: some scenes fast-forward through more time, some painstakingly go second by second as actions take place. Typically battle RPs tend to fall into the latter category, to make sure no powergaming/unfair assumptions occur -- in which case the idea is to approximate how long it's been by what's transpired.
In either case, battle RPs benefit from more planning and cooperation and not less: this can easily be solved by going, "okay, and how about my character uses X attack and it lasts on your character until they do Y?" beforehand over PM or IM.
That makes sense, thank you!

I have a cosmetic question, involving Parallels (maybe Zodiacs to an extent, but I don't know) - I figured I'd best ask specifically, since they are a different... class, I guess... than a typical Senshi/Negaversian: 1) Besides eye-color, how close a resemblance would past-life Parallels generally have appearance-wise to their modern-day soul holders? I'd like to think that they would be pretty close to each other, but thought I'd best ask first.
codalion: This is totally up to you! You can have them look totally different or uncannily alike; we often find that 'uncannily alike' is more fun for style and art purposes, but it's seriously up to you, since you're creating both the civilian character and the Parallel soul.
2) In the same vein, between the civilian forms and the powered forms as a Parallel, if their body structures were different between the past and now, what kind of build would the powered form now have? Example: Parallel Different was placed into a tall beanstalk of a person in this life, but was shorter and a bit weightier in the past. How would this affect Parallel Different's looks in the modern-day, if at all?
codalion: Nothing officially changes in their transformed appearance except eye color -- otherwise, they retain their same body that they've had all their lives. However, I'm pretty sure stuff like hairstyle change/piercings could be worked out with Shaz if there was a good reason.

What would you say would be the oldest Negaverse age allowed? I know the allowed ages for senshi are about 14~18 and parallels are what 14~18 or 21?
I'm just curious because of these new adult characters coming out what age range is possible.
rosemilk: Charonite's modus operandi is to corrupt the young. He wouldn't have his lolita squad otherwise if he didn't think there was a benefit to training them up now -- the oldest that he's probably going to go is 25-27, and that would have to be under some pretty special circumstances.
Cuter: Like if Nealite just had to have that cute manager at Shufflepucks join their side....

Ahhah, this is a question I don't think any one has asked, and is one LP and I were just realizing we don't know the answer to.
For the BP students who lost a year of their memories and such, should their ages have changed to match?
Like, for example, when I made Melody for the BP event I made her sixteen. At the end of BP I never changed this, didn't think to honestly. Is this something I need to fix?
rosemilk: Their birthday is their birthday -- it's not going to affect anything. They're possibly going to end up held back in school, but the time spent at BP all in all counts. They'll be their normal age, normal birthday.

A few questions, hope none of them are annoying/obvious. ^^; First, can Senshi (slash Cavalier slash applicable magical personage) tell when a person's starseed has been stolen? Like, if presented with a corpse, can they tell if the person died because their starseed was stolen or through some more normal cause? Can they do this if the person was still alive/comatose? And if so, can they tell if the missing starseed still exists or if it's been used up?
Shazari: I'm not sure entirely -- but I'll bet guardian cats, at least, can tell most of these things. <3 I don't know that they'd be able to tell if the starseed still exists, unless it's one they're specifically attuned to (e.g. Zue with the Zodiacs), though I'm not sure attuned starseeds can be used/consumed. (VAGUE ANSWER IS VAGUE.)
Second, when a Cavalier plugs into a Senshi, do they keep the effects even when they aren't powered up? Will a Cavalier that's plugged in suddenly become better in gym?
Shazari: Yes. biggrin
And lastly, with characters that come with predetermined attacks, how much leeway do we have in applying limits to them? I don't want to burden staff with questions every time I wonder about how the definition of density applies to Aquarius' attack, nor do I want to inadvertently do something wrong in an RP and have to correct it later. A vague "this is okay but contact us for this" would help me a lot.
Shazari: I'd say if you're given an attack, you can feel free to come up with the limitations on it yourself -- do a little writeup like profiles typically have, and then double-check it past Rose or PM it to the mule, and we'll be able to tell you if anything's not hunky-dory and help you out. <3
Thank you very much!

Since I can't seem to find it anywhere, and that might just be because I'm not looking in the right spot, what are the requirements to upgrade a schoolkid to senshi/negaverse status, besides getting your quest accepted? Are there any RP requirements? Or anything of the like?
Thankies.
rosemilk: There's no natural way to 'upgrade' a schoolkid to senshi or negaverse status -- there are a couple options. You could talk to Natsu about alternate payments; you could win one in a competition; you could win an upgrade competition; you could win a raffle. There's also the chance that your quest will get picked up by the RP managers and turned into a senshi or whatever. The RP managers love: people who RP a lot, people who hang in the shop a lot, people who are devoted and generous and give input!
There are unfortunately no straight RP ways to upgrade.
Oh and I made cookies. Anyone want some? biggrin
rosemilk: Why, thank you.

What kind of store is Hollystar? I was thinking clothing because Hollystar kinda sounds like Hollister, but then someone else said food 'cause the description has the words servers, so I'm confused, lol

If I have a concept for a civilian character who is in his early 40's, but I have no plans at all to ever get him as a powered character, is that acceptable? Or does the "younger than 30" rule still apply there as well?
rosemilk: Go ahead, that's fine!

Q: Whatever happened to the Hillworth Sound? Did Hillworth shut Franz down again? :< (Is it a conspiracy?)
rosemilk: It's still been issued around the school, I just haven't written any (I am terrible). Hillworth Sound is as strong as ever, now featuring 100% more articles referencing the editor's girlfriend.
Q: I think it's been said that the shop follows loosely on both the manga and the anime. Will you bring any ties of the Seru Myu shows into ItNotM? (That is the 'live action' plays/musicals)
codalion: We tend to draw from the manga and anime loosely as our main sources of Sailor Moon canon, pick up bits and pieces from other things and make up even more: so while we aren't drawing inspiration from Sera Myu at the moment (as far as I know), it's certainly not impossible. The same goes for PGSM and anything else of its ilk. We'll see. <3
Relia: But if we do, it probably won't be the DRACUL musical.
rosemilk: The Shitennou will not reappear as pop managers either.
Q: Is it possible to keep your senshi from joining a 'team'?
codalion: Sure, absolutely! No one has to be on any teams they don't want to be on -- unless, of course, they're in a faction that requires it. We encourage it because we think senshi working together allows them to be a lot more effective/powerful as a group, as tends to be the case with magic-based fighters: in addition, making more character connections is just more likely to open plot doors for people. However, it's certainly possible to play and get involved without a formalized team.
Q: If teams form will they require a leader? Or, will they be allowed to have a leaderless group?
codalion: Team structure is up to the people who make the team -- if you want to make it democratic, oligarchic, totalitarian, theocratic, plutocratic, communist, determined entirely by recurrent games of rock-paper-scissors, go for it. That being said, teams tend to have captains for a reason: trying to run a democratic fighting unit is generally akin to trying to find an asbestos shard in a haystack. Chain of command is a survival attribute. Respecting a chain of command is a survival skill.
Q: ARE UMINO STYLE GLASSES STILL COOL?
codalion: They stopped being cool?
Relia: As an artist, I'm prooooobably not going to put these on anyone's character unless they really want me to, but hey, ultimately, it's your dime. I'm flexible. biggrin I can't speak for Natsu, of course. <3
rosemilk: Anyone who wears them is naturally very handsome underneath.
Q: At the arrival of canon and inner/outer court souls, will senshi with like powers be 'drawn' to them, as in, will say Merope be 'drawn' to Neptune? Or, will senshi see inner/outer/canon souls as just other senshi?
codalion: The Inner and Outer Senshi are the highest-ranking members of the White Lunar Court: those who are loyal to the Lunars and Princess Serenity are likely to respect them and their leadership, particularly that of Venus and Uranus. However, none of this functions on mind control. (Or does it.) ((It doesn't.)) (((Or does it.))) ((((Okay enough of that.))))
rosemilk: There's no natural attraction/pull towards your court 'leader'.
Q: Do I ask to many questions? :U
codalion: Drop and give me twenty. Maggot.
Relia: Hey look, buddy, I'm a GM. That means I solve problems. Not problems like, "what is beauty?" -- because that would fall within the purview of your conundrums of philosophy. I solve practical problems. For instance: how am I gonna stop some big mean mother hubbard from tearin' me a structurally superfluous new behind? The answer? Use a gun. And if that don't work? Use more gun. Like this heavy-caliber tripod-mounted little old number designed by me. Built by me. And, you'd best hope, not pointed at you.
rosemilk: Grass grows, birds fly, sun shines and brother, I ANSWER QUESTIONS!
