Chris watched intently and listened intently. She felt so gental toward the girl.
"Is this what its like to have a child?"
She wondered.

Remus himself began to wonder about the whole 'having children' thing. The idea terrified him, as he had no idea how to be a father. In fact, Remus himself had no mother or father at all. He just came into the universe one day, the knowledge already programmed into himself and his brother Romulus. No one was ever really there to teach him how. He supposed that he could always watch Emma for some pointers.

Spent my days with a woman unkind,
Smoked my stuff and drank all my wine.
Made up my mind to make a new start,
Going to california with an aching in my heart.

"In the village, in a cage! She had blood-stuff on her so that they locked her up. And Priest says that she's possessed because she kicked other Fauns and things." The girl nodded.

James stifled a laugh. Well, that does sound like something Kaok would do. Maybe it is the other piece of her.

The Faun looked at the group. "Following?"

Both nobles bristled at the mention of a cage, but Emma nodded. "After you, Kaok."

The elf would have laughed in Remus' face if he had asked her for tips on parenting. Not out of spite, simply out of disbelief that he would ask her. She stood up, brushing leaves off her still-soaked skirts.

It had still not occurred to her that she ought to dry off.

Chris stared. "A cage...?" She stood ready to go.

Chris was now wondering about how she would do it. Could she?

Remus was both angered and relieved that she was in a cage. He was angry that she was being held captive but at the same time she wasn't going anywhere. The Imperator didn't worry much about his clothes or equipment being wet. His pistol, hammer and sword were designed to withstand any conditions that nature or space may have thrown at them.

The young Faun nodded and began to lead the way to Tragicosos, arms at her side and all business. James watched, confused - honestly, she was five, she should be skipping or something of that ilk. There didn't appear to be any sort of roads or marking on the ground as they went, they were far from where most Gaians would really go.

Emma followed the Faun, Hrothbert matching her pace at her side. The sorcerer was looking nervous, or something close to it. His foresight was blaring a weak alarm of things to come, an alarm that Emma had blocked out long ago. It had grown so loud in her head that it drowned all else out.

Remus remembered Kaok telling him about Tragicosos. If what he heard was correct, they wouldn't take too kindly to outsiders.

"Kaok, will your people be alright with you bringing total strangers to your village?" he asked. He didn't want her to get in trouble, even if this was all just an illusion.

"Um. I don't know."

Oh, they wouldn't, they tolerated one at a time alright, if the outsider was a trader and there was something in it for them, but not a group of seven - who were armed on top of it all. The girl's mind began to work as they made their way through the forest. The sounds of music, loud conversation and general hustle-bustle were getting louder.

Eventually, they came to a stop just outside the edge of Tragicosos -
which was an unimpressive setting to say the least. There were various clay houses and things, but it didn't seem as though there were enough there to house the entire population. There were, in fact, many large depressions in the ground that looked like they were little beds for the less affluent families.

"Stay here." She ordered the group, and disappeared into the woods.

Kaok reappeared from another entrance to the town, now dressed so as to fit in - or rather undressed. She utilized her short stature to slip through a crowd of people talking quite unnoticed. The girl approached a large altar standing proud in the middle of the village, which had a rusted old bell hanging from it that had to have been bought from a trader quite a long time ago. Stealthlike, she rang it, and the mass of people began to rush towards the biggest and most well-kept building in the entire place - the town mess. Every single one of the citizens would make it for a meal if they heard the bell, even if their hooves had been chopped off.

A brown-haired Faun woman with a blue stripe called the girl over, as well as a few other children - each one bearing a significant resemblance to Kaok. She walked alongside the woman who could only be Mandia Jayim, trying to hold her hand and being denied that right.

The girl turned back, nevertheless, and gave the group a sign that they could enter the city once the people were all inside the building.

Both nobles vanished from sight underneath a shroud of cloaking spells, branching off and searching for the other half of Kaok, following semi-familiar life signs.

We can hide the rest of you, given permission, she called mentally.

Chris stared eyes wide.
"It looks like a city of Kaoks..." She thought stunned. She walked over to Jame's and took his hand worried.

"No. I'm perfectly fine." Remus replied to Emma aloud as they walked towards the village.

"If one of those large bucks wants to pick a fight with me, let him. They may have horns and hooves, but I have Perseverance and Valiance."

The Imperator's eyes searched over the village, looking for the cage.

James held onto Chris' hand, scanning the now empty area for any sign of the cage that they'd been told of. Evros kept watch, making sure that if anyone came back out again, that he could inform the others.

The human half of Kaok just sort of drifted along, looking back where Mandia had previously been. There was a strange sort of look on her face that couldn't be read, and it wouldn't go away as if she were stuck on it. She hadn't found the cage yet, but she'd not really been looking as hard as she could've.

Emma had stopped her search temporarily to look around, really taking in the scenery. So this was where Kaok had grown up. And that Faun walking away was her mother...her biological mother.

The elf felt shame suffuse her cheeks. She had no right to call Kaok her daughter, none at all, not when she already had one.
