"Krisafia Tharin, subject of Nam...Namaraht, Lord of the Ice Sheets," Joe said, only struggling once. He smiled again. "In my world, you meet a lot of important people with names like that. As a Magus-General, I have to be able to learn their names pretty quick."

He looked around as he said, "I might not be the best when it comes to nuances, but I have been a senior magician for over 40 years. If you let me watch your technique for a little while, I might be able to help."

She looked at Joe and Krisa with a sparkle of gratitude in her eyes as she said to Joe first. "I'm not sure how similar our magics are, but I'll do my best to learn as much as I can!" She then turned to Krisa and said. "I'll try my best to learn, but I've been told by the elders that wind fairies are only supposed to know wind magic. I'm not sure they would be happy to know that I was taught other magics, but what they don't know won't hurt them, so I'll do my best to learn your schools of magic as well!"

Krisa rolled her eyes at Joe with a bit of a smile. "Smarty. I suppose there has to be one show off in every significantly sized group. As for my magic, I'm mostly trying to hone my control. I've been trying to make ice weapons, but they don't always turn out so well, and they usually break pretty fast. They wouldn't be of much use in a real fight."

She looked at Rena, her ears going back and flattening a tad, her eyes widening slightly. "I do not wish to cause you trouble, little one. If learning my magic will make difficulties for you later, perhaps it would be for the best not to learn. But the decision is yours to make."

((Please excuse my moment of weakness.

...Namaraht, Lord of the Ice Sheets

I just needed a moment of immaturity.))

Merasha headed through the door, no longer caring about point of order anymore. She was tiring of lingering about the tower, and felt things had been suspiciously easy thus far. She paused, peering down the spiralling stone steps disontentedly. "These stairs only go down five flights... then you have to cross the floor over to a second stairwell. A terrible layout, I know. Keep your wits about you..."

"I'm sure there are more important things to say..." Talmaya said quietly. Her eyes shifted around before returning to looking at Daras. She felt her veil slipping slightly, and so she readjusted it, hitching it further up the bridge of her straight nose. "As for me... my name is Talmaya Naveh." She winced as she listened to Krisa and Joe's comments to Rena... but it was hard to derrive for what reason. Seeing Merasha had headed intot he stairwell, she calmly joined her, pausing along with her too stare down. Almost instantly, she grabbed a hold of a nearby wall, looking momentarily dizzy.

Joe was about to speak when he almost ran into Talmaya from behind, since she had stopped. He almost asked if she was all right, before realizing that she had already spurned his care, so he went back to talking to the group as he headed down the steps.

"Weapons are always difficult to maintain," he began, speaking over his shoulder. "To create a purely magical construct means to focus a large amount of mana and to maintain that focus. Doing so during a fight takes years of training, trust me."

He raised his hand with two fingers raised. "Secondly, control comes from practice. I'm not trying to say you don't practice or anything, but my best suggestion improving your control is to practice. I actually recommend sparring for that, since battlefield practice is the best kind for battlefield technique. I'd be happy to oblige you in that regard."

Rena listened closely to what Joe was saying since it could apply to her as well. Her main problem was losing control of her magic while she's manipulating the wind, so if she did her best to practice her control she wouldn't have that problem! Hoping that she understood him correctly, she said to Joe. "Would you spar with me too? I'm not very strong, and probably won't be much of a challenge but I want to do my best to get stronger!" After that, she looked at Krisa and said. "I'd like to learn from you too if it's okay with you. Even if the elders do find out I learned other magics, the worst punishment I would get would be a scolding or an endless rambling speech from the chief about the 'balance of powers in the universe'." She gave a giggle after she said that.

Krisa listened to Joe's words. "I see. I thought as much." She smiled. "Well, if we ever have any down time, that sounds like a plane to me."

She nodded at Rena. "Very well. If you wish to learn, I will do my best to teach you what I can."

Then she noticed that the group wasn't moving. Looking forward, she saw Talmaya had stopped dead in front of Joe. "Is there something wrong?"

Talmaya continued to gazedownwards, but then took a tentative step down on of the stairs. She glanced behind her at Kirsafia when she asked if there was a problem. She stared at her a moment, then looked down, then looked back at Kirsa, and then finally, as if unsure how to respond, she just shook her head. It was too embarrassing to admit she'd never been in a structure this tall, or even anything with stairs before. Steadying herself she began to make her way down the steps.

Merasha was getting impatient with Talmaya and brushed past her "Come on! A pitiful thrown knife attempt isn't going to be all these wizards can do... this silence and stillness is driving me crazy, but best take advantage of it and get as far as possible."

((I'm going to fast forward to the bottom of the tower))

The travel through the tower was quiet. Too quiet. In fact, down one set of stairs, across a hallway, and down another, there were no guards. There were a few dropped weapons strewn about, such as a stray halberd, a dropped axe, and a discarded small shield, but no signs of people. There were also occasional small blood trails, consisting only of a few droplets, but nothing terribly alarming. Finally the party reached the bottom of the stairs and had stepped into a hallway that would lead into the large, main room - the last obstacle before the exit.

Rena stayed close to the rear of the formation since that was what she was told to do. On the way down, she was ever so eager to keep any sort of attack from getting to her master. Luckily there had been no sort of action, and they made it to the bottom safely. Now looking around the hallway, she blinked and said to her master. "Master, who's blood do you suppose that is? Could someone have been hurt or something?" She wondered if someone had come to rescue her master, but put that thought aside for now.

"Krisafia, Talmaya, Rena, Joseph, and Merasha. May we become fast friends and forever allies." Daras says with a big, toothy grin.

As they walk down the tower, Daras stops and picks up seemingly every metal object that isn't nailed down, mostly weapons. Walking down the last stairway, Daras starts complaining, "Why is it that we had to walk down every flight of stairs?" He gasps, "I'm not built for these stairs, the steps are too big. At least we are near the bottom. If I pass out, and you decide to take me with you, will someone make sure to drag me on my back?"

Listening to Rena talk, Daras tells her, "It probably belongs to the person that our good man Joseph here stabbed." If anyone gives him strange looks then he reponds, "He forgot to clean the blood off his sword." If more strange looks follow, he further explains, "It is the metal that is found in most blood, I can smell it. The metallic tang of it, I mean. It's one of the benefits, and downfalls, of being me, I suppose."

Joe smiled instead of getting annoyed with the very talkative prince. He usually didn't allow anyone but his mother to call him Joseph, but it wasn't a huge deal. Better to let them do what they wanted, since Joe planned to leave soon anyway. To go back home.

At the sight of the blood, Joe drew the Saber and made his way to the front of the group. "Krisa, with me," he said crisply. "We'll go into the room first. Something's not right here." He placed a hand on the door and pushed.

Krisa wasn't entirely sure what to make of the little armored prince. He was so much different than what she was used to, but it wasn't necessarily bad.

She caught the scent of the blood before they reached the bottom, and by the time Joe called her to his side, her claws were out and her tail was swishing in agitation. She walked up right on his heels, a low rumble in her chest as he opened the door.

Just beyond the door, the large spacious room was filled with a circle of individuals in dark purple cloaks. In unison they turned towards the door with their hands out. One half of them mae a complex gesture, and various weapons that had been stock piled to one side began floating and flying towards the hallway. The other half said a word in one voice, and a peculiar tension could be felt in the air. A smothering sensation flooded into the hallway. However, it wasn't a fleeting of breath or an heaviness, but a feeling of magical suppression.

Talmaya had listened only passively to any talk that was had during their escape route, and she herself had nothing to say. Thus, when they reached the bottom, she was quite relieved. In all truth she wanted to say things, but bit her tongue unable to think of helpful or kind comments. She felt, perhaps, if she had some fresh air and was on solid ground she'd be able to focus on being more affable. However, her hope was quickly squashed as she felt the oppresive sensation. She put her fingertips to her temples as the mark on her forehead vanished. "What...is....?" she croaked. Being not at the forefront, she did not see the weapons heading towards the hallway. That would be a concern more immediate for Krisa and Joe.

"Everybody down!" Joe barked, then stepped forward. He apparently didn't notice the magical suppression, because he tried to wave his hand and have the wind blast the weapons away. When that didn't work, he dove back behind the doorway, hoping that the others had gotten out of the way in time.
