"Are you sure about that?" She'd never had to rely on someone else's healing abilities. "Could you maybe get the ones on my back first? I don't care if you don't get the rest...those are the worst of it." Thaya turned and lifted her hair out of the way. Two faint red splotchy lines were forming over her shoulder blades where her wings normally connected.
"You and Trenton should probably come too Niccea. There's a lot of cool new talent you might want to know about." She glanced at Scar, remembering Scanner. "Will you be able to vouch for them to get them in? Or will Rip's status cover that?"

"I'm not that important." Scar said apologetically. "That's Scanner's decision."
Rip had slipped into his room a moment and came out with a dirty white T-shirt on. "Here goes nothin'." He said as the muscle, and flesh from his own back replaced Thaya's. "Damn... what the hell happened?" He muttered as he tried to take a few more of Thaya's major wounds away."
He took a few deep breaths as the wounds already on his body started closing up."You want me to take the rest for you?"
Scanner couldn't help but stare in wonder. Not only was the wolf a legendary fighter, but he was also a healer.

"The Linguist tried to 'cure' me. I actually started to heal Scar for a moment there, and then my wings just turned to ash. It felt like someone ripped them out." Thaya started to protest as he took more of her wounds away, but as the pain eased she couldn't bring herself to stop him. "Thank you. It means a little more when you heal someone..." Thaya was, of course, referring to the fact that to heal someone he had to first take their wounds from them. It was like the reverse of what Scar did.
"It's ok Scar. I'm sure he'll let us all in. Besides he probably would've turned me away if he had a problem with Nic." She flexed her arms over her head and felt out her now woundless body. It felt good to move without the pain of an injury.
"That should do it Rip, Thanks." Thaya stretched luxuriously. "I dunno why, but I just have a feeling that there'll be more where those came from."
EDIT ((I'll be able to get some posting done tomorrow, but then I'm going to have almost no time until after the New Year. I brely have time to sleep now that the roomie is home. (Which is a good problem, haha.) But we'll be spending every waking moment with friends starting tomorrow night.))

Niccea smirked. "Telepaths come an handy for networking and communications. With Ashley gone, we lost the last of our connection links." She looked at Thaya haltingly. "What is bothering you the most? The fact that you can't heal others or yourself? Nero has a lot of self replicating samples and...giving someone a Gift is easier than you would think."

((Alright! I'm back, people. Erm...Thanks for waiting on me?))
"From what I can tell they actually have quite the selection of useful gifts. It won't be child's play, by any means, but with some coordination we'll really be able to raise some hell." Thaya reached over and playfully cuffed Scar's shoulder. He took himself very seriously. It dawned on her that she hadn't really seen him smile yet. He'd cracked a grin when talking about taking down agents, but that hadn't been for himself.
Wait...Why is it so important for me to see him smile? She shook off the question, and answered Niccea.
"I'm totally useless to the team. Not only am I useless, but I can't heal myself which means I'm now a liability. Trust me. I've looked into the different systems that could give me abilities again. Injections, treatments, back alley surgeries. There is just one glaring thing standing in my way. I already have a dormant gift."
Thaya crossed her arms and leaned against the wall. "I did a lot of research when..." She stopped herself from saying 'when my fiancee died'. "I just wanted to make sure I did this right. Here's what I found out; gifts can clash. They're a bit like blood types in that manner. That's why so many multi-gift prototypes failed early on. That's why so many gifted couples have stillborn babies. Bad mixes."
She shook her head and gave a mirthless laugh. "I almost injected myself at one point. I figured, why not just take the risk? Who would give a ******** if I died?" I didn't even care if I died...Still don't. She hastily ran a hand through her hair as if to dismiss the thoughts.
"So anyway, I came to look for you guys, because I was pretty sure that either you or Rip would be able to smell the gift on me if it was still there. Until today I wasn't sure if it was gone completely, or just dormant. Now I know that getting my gift back is going to be a bit more complicated than an injection."

Niccea smiled slightly. "Then I must a lucky one. Nero just injected me willy-nilly to save my life. No one knew about my dormant fire Gift. Also I think Nero used a very pure Gift DNA. From one of the first Gifted even. It explains how hard it was to control."

"It's something we can continue to research. If we find something compatible then I'll gladly take it. I hate to say it, but you were probably just lucky that your gifts didn't clash. Though, him using a 'pure' gift probably didn't hurt either. For you it was a matter of life and death. He probably knew the risks, but if he didn't act he would've lost you anyway. As it stands my life really isn't in any immediate danger, so we have a little more time to think this out."
She glanced at Scar then Rip. "So...Are we going to go tonight?"

"If you guys want to... make sure you're up for a fight, first time visitors have to fight. It allows us to catalog what their powers are, and their level... stuff like that." He glanced around the room. "Do you want to go tonight, or tomorrow?"
Rip looked to the others. "I vote for tonight, but if you guys would like, we can wait 'till morning."

"I say we just take the plunge. I've already been once. You up for a fight, Nic?" She purposefully didn't look at Scar this time. Something told her that he wasn't going to be ok with her going into the ring a second time... Maybe they'd let her slip by without fighting, but she doubted it.

Niccea smiled. "As long as I don't have to fight Rip again. We spared earlier." She nodded. "I'll talk to Nero. His days are numbered anyways. He gave himself the same Gift. And it is showing. He is acting like Merlin from T. H. White's novel."

"Thaya... I think you should stay here... you'll just get hurt...I got you out of fighting earlier, but now that you're healed, I don't know if I can do it again." Scar said nervously.
Rip shrugged. "If you want, when we get back, I'll give you the play by play." He offered. As he started changing back into his previous outfit.

"That's fine." She looked depressed, but shrugged it off. "No, you're right. It's fine. You guys go check it out again. I can go back once I'm able to actually defend myself. In the meantime I'll go back to my hotel room and change. The bloodstains aren't exactly becoming of me, y'know?"
She made her way out, and patted Nic on the shoulder as she passed. "Let me know what you find out. The sooner I'm able to go back there, the better."
Thaya left then and made her way back to the hotel. It wasn't until she was standing in the elevator, alone, that she finally let it all get to her. Everywhere she turned people were worried that she was going to get hurt. She felt utterly worthless now. With an anguished yell she pounded her fist against the mirror on the elevator door. To her surprise it broke and cut her hand. "Are you KIDDING me?!" She seethed at the small cut as a trail of blood started running down her arm. "I just got healed, dammit!"
The doors slid open to her floor and she went to her room to clean her hand and change. She did this all with silent tears of frustration.

Niccea sighed and cracked her knuckles. "Trent, keep Thaya company. She looks lonely." Trenton nodded and hurried up the stairs of Thaya's building.
((I do it almost regularly.))
((My computer drives me crazy.))

(('Think I'll pass.))
((Hope you don't mind that I just assumed he's already there? He'd knock, right?))
Thaya took her time with the small wound. God knew what type of infection she could get from a mirror in a public place such as an elevator. "I'm likely to get CAIDS." She muttered under her breath. A knock caused her to look up. "Ummm, hold on." She wrapped the bandage one last time for good measure before tying it off neatly. "Can you please come back to clean in the morning?" She opened the door just a crack. "I'm in for the night, and-"
She recognized Trenton. "Oh! Is something wrong?" She pushed the door closed and undid the security chain before opening it fully to let him in.
