Nathan just smiled at her, chuckling as he shook his head. "Keep 'em..." He sighed, shrugging. "I'll call you tonight ok?" He nodded eager eyed, still a bit nervous about all of this.

"Nathan..." Kitty was behind the counter, just looking at him with big, worried eyes. But she knew he could handle this. Hopefully.
But then she had a very unique moment where she realize she didn't know much of anything about him, other than he liked her a great deal and was kind to her, and handsome. It wasn't much at all.
"Good luck kiss?" It was all she could offer him at that point.

Samson stopped as he was about to leave to meet her eyes when she called his name. It was in such a sweet, different tone... it shook him. How could he not oblige. With a soft smile, he made his way towards her, leaning over the ocunter, taking her cheek in hsi hand and kissing her softly. A gentle, lingering kiss, that was filled with a soft wanting, guilt, and apology...
He pulled back from the kiss, not used to even feeling that way... he had never kisseda woman like that before, which was onvious in his face, with his blush.

Kitty felt it, too. There was something different there, but it made her feel wonderful instead of more wary.
"Hey... you'll be just fine. Now go and take care of things, alright?" She touched his face softly and pulled back, too. No sense in keeping him there any longer, especially not if it made him late.

Samson lingered a moment, just taking in her face before nodding, giving her one last peck, before pulling away and heading for the exit. "Oh....Kitty?" He stopped, halfway out the door, smiling back at her. "...Thank you..." His smile was genuine and loving as he nodded once more before disappearing into the streets of Veratia.
Though oncce outside, his optimism that she infused in him gave him wings. He felt invincable, he felt capable, somehting no one had ever made him feel... He felt he could make this right. Sure she may be mad he was keepingsoemthing from her, but she was so sweet...maybe she'd love the real samson more than this Nathan character and see how much he liked her...how he threw away his old lives for her...maybe...just maybe He could be happy.

Kitty spent the rest of the day helping customers and teaching Jess the know-hows of running the store when she wasn't there. It was just a little complicated, but really, it was a nice environment to work in once everything was gotten used to.
But after the shop closed, Kitty knew that she had to go and meet Nathan so she could find out how the meeting went. She hoped beyond reason that somehow everything had turned out without any serious repercussions. All she needed was a phone call to give her the cue to go, and she would.

Jess though was just finshing up her shift, grabbing her coat as she met Kitty up front. "Hey I'm off to meet Alex..." She smiled excitedly, though snapped her fingers, remembering somehitng. "Ah...and Nathan's on hold on you're business line...He said he wanted to talk to you." She shrugged, slipping her coat on quickly. "You gonna be ok if I leave?" She asked making sure her friend didnt needanything before she headed out.

Kitty jumped when she said Nathan was on hold. It was just what she needed.
"I'll be fine! Don't you worry. Alex seems like a really awesome guy, Jess."
She sent her a wink before picking up the phone and pressing the blinking button. In a heartbeat, she was inquiring in a business-voice after who might be waiting on the other end.
She sent a wave to her friend before going on.
"Is there anything I can help you with, sir?"

Jess furrowed her brow but nodded, giving her friend a smile before heading out the door to meet Alex.
On the other end of the phone, Nathan was breathless. "Kitty? Hey listen...Can you meet me at the park downtown? I dont know if I have enough time to get to the shop but i really need to talk to you..." Heacted as if he were out of breath and made it sound urgent.

"What do you mean, not enough time? What's going on?" Her heart started racing as fast as his words. She could have sworn, too, that he didn't have much of an accent anymore, but maybe that was just her ears playing tricks over the phone...
"Are you alright?"
Another realization swept over her as she stood there, walking in small circles. She didn't know what business he conducted. What if he had broken ties and he was now in trouble for it? What if he had done something so drastic that people were after him?
But no, she thought. That would just be silly.

"I-I'm fine...please though, just lock up and meet me in the park alright? I'll explain it all there. I promise..." His voice was soft and pleading before he hung up arubtly, leaving Kitty alone with her thoughts.

And then, nothing. He was gone. Kitty frantically placed the phone back on its cradle and went straight to her apartment to grab her coat. Something wasn't right.
Common sense didn't even kick in to say that going to the park at night might be dangerous. Nothing made its way into her head thanks to Nathan's words echoing around, blocking everything out.
Kitty was out the door in a minute, bound for the park at a near run.

He had been a lie. Kitty hadn't looked at him once during their walk over to her shop, but could feel him just at her side or slightly behind her. Why was she even taking him back to care for him?
Because he'd gotten that black eye trying to make things right, she told herself. The rest could be dealt with later, but the least she could do was be thankful he broke ties.
They walked down the street where her shop lay, surrounded by empty places of business. A printer's shop, a bakery, everything was dark. Kitty's eyes lifted from the ground to see her own shop, but the oddest thing caught her eye: a flash of blue kept appearing from the shop window. It kept fluttering and waving, until Kitty realized that it was a curtain. How odd, she thought, until the even more shocking realization hit her that there shouldn't have been a curtain there at all, but a window.
And that window she soon saw was in pieces on the ground both inside and out.
"No..."
She could hear no alarm, and no police had been notified of the break-in. That alone was enough to make Kitty's knees go weak. She raced ahead of Sam and found that her beloved shop door was unlocked, swinging right open to reveal the tattered mess inside.
Ruined. It was all ruined.
All her stock was torn and made into confetti here and there. Her shelves were smashed, and all the independent artist's goods were ruined as well. Anything made of glass was shattered.
Kitty was numb. As her feet picked through the debris, she made her way to the back room. There was where her true heartache lie; all the books she had been restoring were either destroyed as well or just gone. Whoever had swept through the place had taken anything of real value, leaving her with useless merchandise.
She turned on a light to make everything more painfully clear. And there, Kitty began to cry for everything she had lost, all the money she would have to reimburse, all the damage that would have to be recovered.
"Is this what you meant by excitement?" she murmured.

Samson's throat went dry at the horrid sight before him. He could barely move from the front doorway, his eyes washing over everything slowly, though all he could process was Kitty's anguish.
He was about to speak when his phone rang. Samson clicked it on speaker as a preplayed message of a gruff voice came thorugh its speaker. "Well Nathan...We told you you were taking too long...All we wanted was that little book...and since you failed us...you have to deal with the ocnsequences... We spare you you're life though you're precious 'friend' will have to pay for your insolence...Dont show you're face again unless you want further action to be taken against her or yourself..." And a click. Samson's hands were shaking with anger and bewilderment as he remained silent a moment longer.
He processed it all for a moment, feeling infuriated with everything. Though that meant near nothing. Kitty's life had been turned upsidedown just because he couldn't keep his emotions in check. If he had just stolen the book and disappeared, sure she would have been heartbroken, but at least it wouldn't have been this bad.
"K-Kitty..." He took a step forward, his voice cracked as he tried to reach out to her.

Kitty wept in the middle of the shop. She saw how the security cameras had been disabled, how wires from the alarm system were hanging loose. None of it had been a match for whoever had swept through.
"Go."
To be lied to was one thing, but to have to suffer for what he had done? It was far too much, and Kitty could not bear it.
"Please go."
