There were plenty of warnings, the snap of branches, the sound of running steps and the gleeful shout. But Kyo might as well have dropped out of the middle of the sky, catching the weary man by surprise. Lost in thought, he only had time to recoil in horror and shock as he was body slammed and tackled with a happy tearful hug.

The sand at least cushioned his fall, and in turn he cushioned Kyo's fall when he fell over backwards. The air driven from his lungs on impact, he choked for a breath and for the moment was stunned. Backpedaling, he scooted through the sand and he dragged Kyo with him as he panicked, thinking that maybe it was Bapp coming back to carry him away to Barton. Some reason that sounded like the more terrifying prospect at the time.

"Do I ... know you?"

It was a lot to take in all at once and an expression of confusion seemed to be his favorite emotion for the day. It was obvious though that this stranger knew who he was from the way he acted so familiar with him, and it was only with a half-hearted tug that he tried to pry Kyo's arms off. But Kyo let go of his own accord a second later, and went on about what the poor state his clothing were in.

Gripping handfuls of sand, he pushed himself up to sit and relaxing his grip again, he accepted the clean robe while he looked over the things Kyo had taken out of his kit.

"I ... uh, who did you say you were again? And what did you just call me? I'm sorry, but I do not know what is going on. I woke up here on this island this morning."

"I do not recall hitting my head ..." And he paused, put off by Kyo's sobbing. Awkwardly he stiffly patted the boy on the shoulder, and felt bad even trying to be so badly comforting. He glanced around the area, hoping by the small chance that someone else was nearby to help.

He said the first thing that came to his mind, the first thing he hoped that would make Kyo stop crying, "I do remember a few things. I think I remember you. Faintly. Maybe you could help me remember more?"

Again taken aback by Kyo's very forward nature, he looked at the cake quizzically under his nose. He next gave Kyo a good long stare, and using his fingers plucked the bit of cake from the spoon. He sniffed it discreetly and then ate it. He smiled a little, encouragingly.

Next, since Kyo wasn't grabbing onto him, he stood unsteadily, and brushed the sand from his soggy robes. "Thank you, that's very ... um, good. But I have so many questions. You said you were my follower, but what did you say your name was? Can you tell me more of what happened?"

"... there was an assault?"

He had to think a moment on that. Everything was so strange, and he couldn't decide if it was just him or ... everyone else. Eying Kyo, he might have already made his decision on the spot remembering Bapp as well. Well, while he mulled over things there was no use in standing around in wet clothing. Without so much as a second-thought, he had pulled the tattered robe off over his head, fixed his gloves and dressed in the clean robe Kyo had given him. At least this fit, if not a little long.

He sat back down to take off one boot and then the other, "Could you please start from the beginning, for my sake? This is all very confusing." He shook his head sadly and dug his feet in the sand, while trying to dry out his boots.
