(( Valeth will be posted in green! whee ))

"Try not to blow a gasket again, Sabidan." A voice spoke from the doorway as a young man with white wings entered the room. His long white hair was pulled back into something akin to a braid and it swayed behind him as he walked and then stopped to lean against a far wall. The man had a small smile on his face. It could be said that Valenth and Degail shared the same type of smile, but Vale's was capable of staying there even in the worst types of situations.

Degial did not stop his song, but said in a whisper, "We would have an ally. Does it really matter who they are as long as we have the same goal?" He asked, moving his fingers across the lyre in peaceful melody. He turned and nodded at Valeth, acknowlediging his presence before he went back to his music, this time accompanied by a soothing song. Degial's voice had a calming effect; his music could change people.

Sabidan looked at all of them, and scoffed. He used his wings and flew to a river, where he often went to relax. The cool water often relaxed him, but it didn't really know. He tried to relax but the anger build up around him. He took off his shoulder pads, a sign of the Light and royalty and through them on the ground. He slid up near a rock and sat there, he remembered what the Regiment did. He would never forgive them.

(He isn't quitting, he is just really pissed.)

Vale's smile widened sllightly as his appearance received a nod of acknowledgment from Degial. As the Archangel continued to play his lyre, Valenth watched Sabidan nearly storm out of the room. Vale could pretty much feel the rising anger oozing through the air around Sabidan as he passed by where Vale was leaned against the wall. Valenth's smile was replaced with a small look of surprise as Sabidan left. "Did I say something wrong?" Valenth asked no one in particular.

The lyre sings a soothing song, and when Rael looks at the source, he does not doubt why it is so sweet. "Music is a language of emotion, of heart. Lodgings, I can likely help with dear girl. As for livelihood . . . any that have survived with the humans for so long is quite capable and apt indeed! Perhaps as a musician?" As the scene unfolds before him, the king grows quiet and solemn. Sabidan grows agitated and roars before leaving.

Strolling over, light as a casual breeze, the king of celestials asks with a would-be calm-voice.
"What is going on here? Hans- I assume you left in my stead? Have you the lists for me?" A part of Rael wonders if he should take care of this business with a guest in the room . . . but Sabidan's outburst forced all this, and it is a good way to break the ice. Turning to Mirina, at least a little, he raises his voice enough to let her hear. "Tell me, young one . . . how are the humans 'misguided?'"

Mirina was a bit surprised about being put up on the spot like that. From all the suspicion she had gartered, she want to keep herself low and just live in this society, but it didnt work in the human world she should of known better anywhere else. "The humans are misguided by there own wants and desires lead by there primordial needs." Mirina began, "Overriding that prime instinct is the items in which they craft and feel is necessary to life. They also want to prolong their life as long as possible not accepting when it is their time to go." Mirina stayed sitting where she was and simply looked on.

"I see . . . my apologies for asking such an awkward question." This time the smile on Rael's face is strained, forced. The tone of his voice is the same, but the strain of what is going on becomes evident. "I merely wondered, given the current situation, what somebody intimately familiar with Humans feels. The situation has changed as of late, and a new weapon of theirs has completely altered the war. Either way, it was unfair of me to ask. I hope you can forgive me." From the moment he came to this conclusion, the biggest concern was how this situation would play out. As half-human, the cambions might not wish to side with the Light in ending that scourge from existence. Rael cannot command them to obey, only half of them is under his charge. Of course, that also means they might have insight that no celestial has. Either way, her reactions might be very telling when she realizes what her kin has done- both of them.

Hans shook his head slightly at the others but did not deign to comment on their drama. His eyes narrowed slightly at Degial and his lyre. Hans despised that ability the other had to manipulate those around him with his musical talent, resisting the foreign compulsion to calm when he hadn't even been riled in the first place. His fists clenched behind his back minutely before waiting for his chance to answer his lords question.

Seeing a break in the conversation he gave a respectful bow to Rael before giving his report. "M'lord, there were forty wounded or unconscious fellows that were left at the camp when I arrived that are now all back in Sarra, being seen to. I found an additional ten who did not survive the attack, and have returned their bodies as well."

Hearing of the casualties, Rael merely closes his eyes and bows his head low. His wings dim to barely shining, his sorrow deep for them. With a voice barely above a whisper, he pushes onward with being the king. "Make sure that the survivors get all the aid they possibly could need. Meanwhile, bring me the information of all those that did not make it." The quiet command is customary. Rael has made a point of knowing every extinguished light, every loss. Not simply as a meaningless name on the wall, but as a face- a life. He can name every one of the hundreds, if not thousands, lost in recent years. They are his drive, and each failure weighs heavily upon his shoulders. These, more than most. In his mind, he berates himself for failing them personally. His shield did not hold. His orders put them there. He didn't try hard enough- wasn't good enough! Like jacob's ladders, arcs of light trickle through the extensions of his wings, proving his emotional state, despite holding still as stone.

Valenth hadn't really noticed the presence of the Cambion (Mirina) until Rael asked her a question and she answered. Somehow, Mirina made a great point with her reply. With which, Vale found himself agreeing with. He did not, however, say anything to give that thought away. The young Cambion was clearly wiser beyond her years. The thought brought Vale's smile in a little wider, but barely noticeable. It would really only be noticeable to those who spent a lot of time around Vale.

That was when Vale heard the report of the losses, from Hans, they'd received from the recent clash against the humans. The smile disappeared, but Vale's expression was more neutral than anything else. That was just his way. He noticed Rael's reaction to the news, but didn't say anything about it. At least not right away.

After a night of thinking, Sabidan stood up and flew back towards the castle. As he landed on the balcony, he knew what he had to do. He approached the Cambion from behind, and drew his weapon. He set it on the ground, and not in a threatening way. "I'll accept you, for now." he said, nodding. He would of said something worse, but Rael was there. He was already really cautious about his behavior, or so it seemed, and he had no wish to upset him more.

Roselia stood on the sidelines as Rael talked with the Cambion. Her happiness at the thought of an allegiance with a different race hidden behind a neutral guise. The simple possibility that more lives would be spared in the war brought optimism to her thoughts. Though Mirina's words spoke ill towards the humans, Roselia decided that her race would never forgive them for their previous attack, for she would not go against the king; she had no reason to. The list of casualties brought an unmasked sadness to Roselia's icy eyes, but it was deferred as Sabidan made his outrageous exit. For a moment, her hand almost reach out in thought of following him, but his ideals for the allegiance with the Cambions contrasted with her king's, and she decided to sit quietly.

Glancing around the throne room, she caught sight of Vale, quickly averting her gaze back to the Cambion, Mirina, and Rael as Sabidan returned. Pleased to see that he would accept her for a while, at least, a subtle smile played on Roselia's crimson lips. It seemed things might work out for the better, but she never knew when they would begin to ask her to flank those battlefields once more and bring them the information they craved. For all she knew, with this new alliance they might even make her deliver those final blows to the Nephilims, who stayed in close proximity with the Cambions. The Light always needed more information, and Roselia had ways to receive it, but for the price of a life, which was the part she hated most.

Mirina was caught a bit off guard by Sabidan and simply nodded in response. Mirina was eagerly awaiting a place to stay so she could relax. She wondered if maybe she ought to think about the situation at hand rather than about herself though. Mirina seemed to notice she was some kind of symbol to them for the cambions. Mirina was very distant from them. She was a loner for the longest time. Even some of the cambions had been at battle with each other. "Um excuse me, but what do you hope to achieve from the information ive given you." Mirina asked quizzically with a bit of concern trailing her voice.

Rael looks up, the soft tones of Mirina's voice bringing him back to the present. when he turns to her, his face only has a shadow of the smile he used to greet her. Like his drooping and darkened wings, his smile exists- but has no warmth or joy. "I had hoped to learn of you, to make you feel at home here. Your people are in part Celestial, and thus are welcome here as cousins to my people. I wish to know all my people, yourself included. In that vein, feel free to seek me out with any problems you may encounter. I must admit though, there was another reason."

His gaze moves beyond her and out towards the memorial wall outside. True, it is not visible from here, but Rael knows it well, and now knows it will become just a little bit longer.
"You have an opportunity that me and my people can never have. We do not have the ability to hide amongst humanity, to see their world through the eyes of a human. I was curious how the humans see their own faults- or if they even do. Yet, you are partially of us, meaning that you are more aware of what they do. My view of humanity was jaded as of a few days ago. Now . . . well, now there is no hope left." The face so accustomed to smiles and warmth grows colder, harder. Behind him his wings begin to flare again, the trickles of light filling his vestigial wings with power.

"For eons, I have watched them. Our kind have been a source of inspiration to spread the Light. Now, they have created a new weapon: one that makes the sky their gun barrel. We had gone to try and find a way to reform Earth into a life-filled world again. Instead, they launched a pre-emptive strike, and though we killed none of them, ten of us were slaughtered. Ten lights I was not . . . " His voice chokes up and he has to take a steadying breath before continuing.

"I was not strong enough to protect them." The admission is more painful than anything that could have physically struck him. A single tear escapes out the corner of his eye, and Rael looks over to his musician friend. "Degial? May I ask you to find this young one a home? I have to take care of the wounded. I owe them that, at the very least." Turning to Sabidan, the king's hard visage returns, a fire of anger and outrage barely contained in the chest of one- and a blaze he knows to be in the general as well.

"Sabidan. Ensure that our people are ready. Soon, we will alter our tactics- and humanity will be dealt with." Behind his eyes, Rael burns with something foreign to his normal life. Rage.

Hans had already since gone, after snapping to attention and bowing himself out to follow his new orders. 'At least it was only a few this time, and not more my King,' he couldn't help but think though his face held nothing but an empty mask and cold eyes.

It took him awhile, but the information, the names, and lives of those ten celestials accumulated into his hands. With each new bit he carefully stored it to the correct name, and put in an order to add their names to the wall in the courtyard as well. He gave a little weary sigh before buckling back down to finish his tasks in the hours ahead.
