((I was told that we were supposed to come here if going to Sentria, according to Rath.))
Dirt road had become sand. He had reached Sentria again.
"Darko, come out." he muttered, opening his bag.
The little imp flew out and looked around. His acute sense of smell would pick up the location of his mother and the others (which would also explain his favorite snack items, Roy's hair and chocolate cake). After a few moments, the imp had chirped and began to fly speedily in one direction. The young lord hurried after him.
After a bit, he saw what looked like a fort. There seemed to be a small commotion going on not far from it. From what his eyes could see (hoping it wasn't a mirage), there were two people on horseback. One had dismounted, and was proceeding to holding off a number of burly figures. This no doubt had to be the others.
He quickened his pace. After a bit though, he tripped and landed face first in the sand.
"Dammit...I just got all the sand out of my hair too..." he whined quietly, getting back up to his feet and dusted himself.
Were it not for his sand-colored clothing, he would perhaps have been spotted.

Now I'm stuck here But I don't belong here ~Ninian~Ninian stood behind Andre, having dismounted and taken the elixir from Sue, though she simply shove it into one of the saddle packs on Andre's saddle. Putting elixir on a wound that was covered in sand? Bad idea. The injury would heal with the sand trapped inside. It would need to be cleaned first.
Hearing Sue's shout, Ninian stumbled over to the other side of the horse. Yet more bandits approached, with every intention of hurting both nomad and dancer, or worse. Sue fired arrow after arrow, but they just kept coming. Ninian struggled to focus her vision.
Through the haze, she held onto Andre's saddle with one hand, clutching Brisecshal in the other.
". . . Sue . . . we can't--win. . . ."
About to give in to the pain and collapse onto the sand, she looked out at the battlefield. Her eyes briefly focused on one of the bandits before her vision blurred again.
"You--" she gasped, uninjured eye going wide. "You were the one who tried to hurt my son!"
Without a second thought, she dashed forward, swinging Briseschal around to hover in her hands. She did not realize that this bandit was not the one she had beheaded before, not remembering doing so. Running past Sue, she attacked, Briseschal showing no mercy to any who dared cross the path of the legendary scarf.
"Leave. Us. Alone!" she cried, punctuating each word with a flick of her wrist that sent her scarf slicing through the closest flesh. I wanna be where you are Maybe I'm not so far from home

Just then, he saw the figure behind the horse rush past the other figure towards the group, something flashing in the light. Since he was closer now, he could distinguish colors and body shapes, but not faces yet. Light teal hair, and green hair. Sue and his Mother. Danger. He was somewhat hesitant to draw forth the SoS as he ran towards the fighting group. He didn't want the flames to hurt either one of the women or the horse, but at the same time, he knew that there was a limit of how many enemies a person could handle before tiring out. They must have been fighting ever since they had been split up. He wanted to help out the girls, but at the same time, he knew about a Nomad's pride concerning 'rescues', and this would certainly be considered a rescue in Sue's eyes. Well, screw that. They needed help, whether they wanted to admit it or not. As he got closer, he drew the SoS. Flames sprouted around the blade the moment it was drawn. He only needed a moment. With the proper timing and location of where to put the long-range explosion, he could clear out most of the bandits that were pressuring Sue and Mother. He had, for the moment, the element of surprise. He just needed a small opening in that little group of bandits. There.Right smack-dab in the middle of that group, there was a small hole in their forces where he could drop the flame. He swung. "Explosion!"There was a small orb of red right where he had intended it to go, just about the sand. It burst almost instantly into flames, the force of the explosion shooting sand up from all sides. The heat from the flames turned the jets of sand into glass spikes, piercing the bandits that were around it. The glass spikes would slow them down a little (they had to walk around it now instead of through it, unless they wanted to waste time trying to shatter their way past the glass spikes). This would be enough time for him to charge the sword again and reach Mother and Sue.

When the intruders started to counter back hard, Sajid yelled in anger. "Damn it, how the hell is she killing five at once? ...That's not even physically possible! Why were five of you buffoons standing right perfectly behind each other?! You're all stupid! Seriously, what the hell!"
Still, the bandits were continuing to push the intruders back toward the entrance of the fort, where Ali was waiting. Sajid motioned for some of his men to wrap around the west side, to make sure the intruders didn't run off and escape that way. Not that the archers wouldn't hit them, if they tried to flee. The ones who were left were still busy trying to hit that pesky pegasus, though. Seriously, that pegasus was on peggy steroids, or something, it was crazy. And the rider wasn't flying low enough for the bandits to be able to at least look up her skirt! She was very devious, indeed.
As Sajid's group had just about forced the intruders all the way back, the fragile light-haired girl suddenly went berserk! Sajid looked up suddenly, and saw some scarf flying at him. "What the- AAAHHHH!!" He wailed in pain, as the apparent weapon tore clean through his left arm, flinging blood everywhere. "You b***h! You b***h! What the hell?! Is it your time of the month, or something?! You'll pay for this! You biiiiitch!"
Sajid raised his axe, and prepared to charge the girl, when suddenly a barage of glass spikes came out of nowhere, piercing all over the left side of his body. He screamed, and stumbled to the ground. He could feel that one had pierced through his neck. "What.. the hell... is with these people?! Get them! Get them all...! Ravage the women, then grind their bones... into... dust...!" With his final order, he breathed his last breath.
The rest of Sajid's group were first shocked, then enraged. How dare they kill Sajid? They would pay, for sure. The glass spikes were in their path, so they ran to the west, to get around them. By the time they did, some newcomer, the one who must have sent those spikes flying, had joined the intruders and was going to help them fight. But the bandits were enraged, and would not let up. They still had the upper hand.
"Now! Get them, now!" Ali shouted, as the bandits inside the fort suddenly charged out, and attacked from behind. Upon seeing this, the ones at the east side of the fort came out and charged as well. The intruders were now surrounded, and it would take a lot to get out of their situation. Ali watched, at the gates of the fort. "Heh heh... fools. It'll all be over soon, now."

And so they were surrounded... agian. How many times were these brigands going to use these types of tactics? Sure, Sue took advantage of their stupidity earlier by noticing them lining up to attack one by one, but no there were no more lines, just a circle. As far as she knew, arrows did not shoot in circles. It would take magic to get them out of it...
Magic. They had some here, didn't they? Yes, Excalibur! But no need to reveal that to the enemy. Instead, she kept the tense look on her face and merely acted like she was out of ideas. General Roy, the tactician who defeated Mad King Zephiel was here. He'd catch on her vibes she was giving off with her eyes soon enough.
But for now, she pointed Miugre in every direction to complete the act of being cornered. "Which... one of them do I am at?!" she said out loud, her voice laced with panic, half of it being truthful.

Well, they were surrounded. Roy, Sue, Ninian, Joshua, and Akihi (the latter two managed to rendezvous with them before they were surrounded) were surrounded on all sides by the bandits. It would take some awesome strategy by an experienced strategist to get out of this mess. And it just so happens that he was a strategist as well. Fancy that.
He had several ideas how to get out of this, each more riskier than the last. There was one, however, he was really riding his chances on, yet there was a high chance it wouldn't work. If it did work, all the enemies around them would either be injured or slain, which would make it easier for them to pick off the survivors. It seemed like almost all of them were out here anyway, except for maybe the boss bandit.
If he recalled, Akihi was given a tome on the way over here. It was one of Joshua's country's Legendary weapons. Excalibur, was it? Didn't seem like it was one of a kind though. He heard tales from his Father and Marcus about a wind tome with exact same name they had gotten during their fight with Grandpa Nergal. And there was Aircalibur as well, which had been used against King Zephiel's forces. And didn't Soren use a wind tome called Rexcalibur? Seems that naming powerful weapons 'Calibur' were pretty damn popular in the olden days. Rexcalibur, Aircalibur, Excalibur...there was a sword he heard legend about called Soul Calibur...yep. Lots of weapons with calibur in them.
They were pressed back-to-back, Ninian on his left, Sue on his right. Akihi was to Sue's right, and Joshua was on Ninian's left. He didn't even need to look at Sue to know that she had similar thoughts about getting out of here. Both would require magic, and a bit of skill.
"I know you're all tired and hurting...but I need your strength one more time, everyone. Akihi, we could seriously use some wind here. If you can, have the wind separate use from them...like...us in a tornado and them outside of it or something like that. If you can get it to work once, that is all we need to make it out of this. Mom...I don't want to strain you anymore than you already are...but we need some supportive dancing here. Sue, Joshua, and myself will cover both of you. Whatever one-use stats boosters or skill enhancers you have, trade them over to Akihi. Whatever will benefit you the most, Akihi, use them, ok? If this works, I'll tell you the second part of the plan. If it doesn't...those that can still fight, focus on the thinnest and weakest section of this circle so we can bust out and get ourselves into a better position than we are now." he said, loud enough for them to hear him, but wasn't loud enough for the bandits to hear.
The Goddess Statue he had picked up earlier in the desert would definitely be in better hands if it was used by Akihi. After all, he was the key component of this two-stage plan. He reached into his bag, pulled out the Luck booster, and traded it over to Akihi.
"Sue...aim for the most threatening in the circle. Archers...magic users. Any you see, take them out. Don't hesitate to switch between sword and bow if they get too close, ok?" he told her.
The flames slowly began to build up around his sword. It would be a tough fight, considering the overwhelming and obvious difference in numbers. But if the first part of the plan worked...their chances of survival would skyrocket.

Charice couldn't help but let a sly grin break out on her face, watching the bandits kill themselves with their own arrows. How stupid can you get? I'm not like to get more, but what idiots!
Having greatly decreased the long-range firepower, Charice could now turn to another matter--on the way to the fortress, she'd spied a lone figure far on the desert below. She wasn't sure if the person was friend or foe, really, but one thing was certain--he or she wasn't with the bandits. They'd fired their arrows as though nobody was out there. Maybe they could earn some temporary help?
Granted, rescuing her now meant getting within range of the surviving archers, but there were few enough left that this rescue attempt was now manageable. She turned back around and sped off the way she originally came, this time diving down as she spotted the long figure. "Just keep flying for that figure, Aph! I'll make sure the arrows don't hit you!"
Now at last, they were coming within firing range of the arrows, and Charice's new sword began glowing green once again, blowing away any arrows that looked about ready to hit them.
They were quickly getting within talking distance of Iris. "HEY! HEY YOU!", she called out, her head turning back and forth between Iris and any would-be pursuing arrows. "NEED A HAND?" she added as she and her pegasus came close.

Now I'm stuck here But I don't belong here ~Ninian~She guided Brisecshal through the air, the scarf slicing cleanly through bandit after bandit, and yet still more came.
"Shut up!" she shouted, thrusting her scarf forward yet again. "Shut up, shut up, shut UP!"
Voices whispered, others crying out.
"Leave me alone! Go away!"
Her hair fought to keep up with the sudden, quick movements of her body. Barely had she completed one move before she was onto the next, Briseschal flying through the air, never touching the ground for a single second, shimmering in the faint light like a river.
The bandits kept coming, but the dancer would not stop her mad dance. She would not be the loser of this battle. But there was another battle she was slowly losing already.
"Go away! Just leave me alone, please!"
No matter how many she felled, there was always another one ready to take its place.
And his face stared back from every last one.
Ninian. . . .
"SHUT UP! Briseschal, KILL HIM!" she screamed.
With one flick of her wrist, she flung the legendary scarf at yet another face, slicing right through the image.
. . . slicing right through yet another bandit, severing his left arm. Glass shards finished him off, but she had already shifted into her next move, attacking yet another enemy.
. . . attacking yet another tree.
Ninian, I love you. . . .
"No! You’re not real! You’re not here! You—you never were here. . . ." Her voice faded, trailing off, her tirade ending. Her movements slowed to a stop, Briseschal returning to rest around her shoulders. "You’re not—real. You’re never—going to be here." Tears slowly began to fall.
And Briseschal slowed, the dancer slowly coming to a stop.
Huh. I didn’t figure you for a fighter. Guess you’re full of surprises, aren’t you?
She jumped in surprise, automatically flinging Briseschal outwards again. A different face grinned down at her, this one half covered by a silvery mask.
She froze.
"Siegell?"
With a thud, a branch of the tree she had just knocked down smashed into her head, hitting just above her left eye and scraping across her face. She fell to the ground along with the tree, screaming in pain.
Her knees hit the sand, a hand reaching to lightly touch the bandages that covered both old and new wounds.
She groaned. This wound hurt more than the scratches on her arms and legs did. She cleaned the wound with water from the stream, haphazardly bandaging them with strips ripped from her already frayed dress.
"That’s what I get . . . for thinking . . . about him," she muttered to herself, thinking out loud. "Who knows what happened to him since Easter. He’s probably off with some girl anyway. I am the only one here in this forest. Only me and Briseschal." She clutched the scarf tighter.
Rising, she said firmly, "I will not think of him or anyone else. There is only Briseschal. I must master it, for Teifi. No, I must not even think of Teifi. Only Briseschal. Only Briseschal. . . ."
"Mom!"
Ninian jerked her head up, looking around. She was surprised and horrified to find herself surrounded by bandits. Her head ached the familiar pounding that meant she and people she cared about were in danger.
"Roy?" she cried, afraid and confused. "Roy, what’s going on?"
Why were there so many corpses around her? And why was Briseschal in her hands, not wrapped about her neck? She reeled, suddenly dizzy. The blood loss was starting to affect her. What was that vision she’d had? Was that how she had hurt her eye over the summer?
And why, however many times she saw Eliwood’s face, did she attack, and then give the order to—to kill? And also . . .
Why had she seen his face, of all the faces to see? Not Eliwood's—his was understandable; she had seen his face countless times in her dreams every night for the past few months. Why had she seen that other face?
The bandits paid no heed to her internal dilemma. They continued their attack. Seeing them coming ever closer, Ninian began to panic. They were pressed together, her, Sue, Roy, Akihi, and another red-headed man, completely surrounded. She fought back the panic, remembering what Roy had said:
"Mom . . . I don't want to strain you anymore than you already are . . . but we need some supportive dancing here."
Dance? How was she supposed to dance in her condition? She still had no idea how she’d even gotten here. Hadn’t she been behind Andre only a second ago?
She tried to stand, stumbling and nearly falling again. She was too light headed, and running around had not helped matters. She had fallen back into the center of their little circle. She looked up at Roy’s back, fighting to ignore the jolt of recognition. She couldn’t help but think how much he looked like his father at that moment. But thinking about that really wouldn’t help matters right now.
"Roy, I—I don't think I can dance. . . ." she said, struggling to speak loud enough for her son to hear. Her vision was staring to blur again. She instinctively pulled Briseschal around her shoulders to protect herself. She tried to stand again, but could not. "R-Roy, I—I can't," she cried, panic evident in her voice. "I can't dance!"
Her head ached, and not just from her wounds either. The temperature seemed to be rising, what with the sun beating down on them and so many people packed close together and getting closer. I wanna be where you are Maybe I'm not so far from home

"Roy, I—I don't think I can dance . . . R-Roy, I—I can't, I can't dance!"Not. Good. His mother couldn't dance, and by the looks of it, she was nearing her limit. How long had she been out here? Too long. That much was certain. She needed something to shade herself, and she needed it now. Her cloak was tattered, so it wouldn't really provide her with much protection from the sun. There wasn't anything he could do about her wounds for the moment, and it would be suicide if he turned to give her his canteen. Well, that's why there was Darko to help. Roy flipped his bag open so Darko could fly out, then raised his hand up to the strap that held his cloak together. With a flick of his thumb, the clothing had come undone, and Darko quickly nabbed it. Commands of giving Ninian the cloak and water to shade and quench her thirst were given. The cloak was then dropped around Ninian to serve as shade (since there wasn't much else he could do to keep her out of the sun). Darko had then snagged the water canteen from the young lord and fluttered over to the ice dragoness, setting it down gently in front of her. The imp then flew and landed on the dancer's shoulder gently after a final command from his master and sole companion. His tail slid up slowly to her face and gently began to wipe the sand off her and her wounds. The young lord glanced back for a moment at his mother and the imp that would be guarding her for the time being as well as cleaning her wounds. "I'll protect you. So rest, Mother. I won't let a single bandit get past me." the young lord said softly, his soft blue eyes on her for a moment. Things would continue as planned. The only differences were that he would have to give it his all to protect his mother from harm, and that the dancer wouldn't be able to enhance their abilities. Roy underestimated the severity of the injuries. He then looked back to the bandits that were in front of him. He took a deep breath and tightened his grip on the SoS before exhaling. The flames intensified, a sure sign of how determined he was to protect his beloved mother. He would protect her until the day his father would return, and they could become a happy family once again. He would protect her until the very end, even if it cost the young lord his life. The bandits drew closer. ((I've been told that Ephraim has not reached the desert yet, so the post Ephy made has not been included in this one. If they have reached, edits will be made.))

I've been dreaming for so long... ... To find a meaning, to understand... • ◄AKIHI► • ————————————
It wasn't enough. No matter what he did, or how many spells he launched, it wasn't enough to stop them from approaching.
And now, they were surrounded. Akihi trembled slightly, his nerves starting to effect his words. He began to stumble over the language, causing the spell to fail before it even formed. He bit the inside of his cheek, willing himself to focus. Messing up now was bad. Too many mistakes would cost him his life. He couldn't die here...
Akihi blinked as Roy appeared. He lowered Elfire for a moment, listening to his words. "I-I have Excalibur..." He stammered, glancing at Joshua for a split second. "B-but I'm not sure... if I can use it..." The mage accepted the Goddess Statue, though was hesitant to use it. First, he pulled the Excalibur tome and the scroll out from under the robe's tie, sliding Elfire back in. He unraveled the scroll with one, skimming it quickly while clutching the Statue in the other. Something in his gut told him to look at the scroll first, so he did.
He felt something stir deep inside him. Quickly, he opened Excalibur, flipping through it quickly.
He understood what it was saying. It was actually usable to him now. His eyes filled with delight and he slowly read the words aloud, his hands beginning to glow as he slipped the Goddess Statue on to his waist. He knew the consequences for using Excalibur; this one attack would drain most, if not all of his magical energy. He'll be lucky if he was left standing.
If this went well, however, it wouldn't matter as much if he was able to balance on his two feet, because the bandits would be extremely weakened or dead.
"Y-you ready, Roy...?" Small, miniature gusts of wind swirled around his hands, enough to make the fabric of his sleeves wave around. They could be intensified at any moment, given the magical energy.
Akihi waited for his command. (( BSing a bit to have one epic use of Excalibur~ >: He won't ever do anything like this again, I promise... ))

The flames were dancing.
Roy was using every trick, every skill, every style of swordplay he ever knew to keep the bandits back. Long-range explosions, glass spikes...anything and everything he knew how to do.
He was barely holding them off, but at least not a single one had passed him to go for Ninian.
He was covered in cuts (nothing deep or serious, but they weren't shallow either. His reflexes kept him from losing a limb or two, or his head), his blood dripping onto the sand as blood splattered from his defeated foes. It reeked of burnt flesh. How many had he pierced with the SoS, or lit aflame, or impaled with glass spikes? How many of these bandits had lost their lives for some foolish conquest for spoils? Had they chosen not to involve themselves with this group, there wouldn't need to be so many casualties.
He heard Akihi call out that the spell was ready. Thank the gods and goddesses that this had actually worked. Normally, first-tier units couldn't use S-rank weapons. But Akihi had just managed it, despite being a mage. Whether it was simple BSing or a miracle created by the heavens, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.
And he sure as hell wasn't going to let this go to waste. Lives were on the line here.
"Sue! Joshua! Fall back to where Akihi and Ninian are!" he called out, sneaking a quick glance back at them to see how they were holding up.
He turned back to focus on his next attacker. s**t! It was a swordmaster, and he just so happened to already come in close. Too close. Dodge, Roy. DODGE!
Shunk.
Pain. Pain in his left shoulder. The steel blade had slid right past the line separating the shoulder guard with the breastplate, cracking both pieces of armor. Goddammit, why was it always the left shoulder that was getting injured? Did he just fail at covering the left side, or were they trying to kill him with a strike to the heart but aimed too high?
"G-gah..."
The blade was in deep enough that it would require both hands to pull out. It probably damaged the clavicle too, if not passing through it entirely. Great. One more bone that would require time to fix itself. Hurray for hard-working bone cells!
With a flash of his blade, the Swordmaster's head was lopped off his body and smacked an oncoming bandit in the face. Roy then kicked the decapitated corpse away before stumbling back towards the others. A swing from his flaming sword created glass spikes between him and the bandits. Excellent for buying time. Flames flew out two more times to create glass spikes to act as a barrier for Sue and Joshua as they retreated.
"Now, Akihi!" Roy called out when he, Sue, and Joshua were close enough to the mage and dancer.
Gah...it hurt to speak with a thick blade sticking out of his shoulder.

"Sue! Joshua! Fall back to where Akihi and Ninian are!"
And so the order came to fall back. Did that mean that Sue's General finally was making his plan go into motion? She'd also heard his earlier orders, firing at the magicians and the archers on the enemy side (this also included the bow-wielding Warriors whom were far more deadly than snipers) with her Killer Bow instead of Miugre. There was no reason to waste sacred ammo on them at all.
Following Roy's direction, Sue backed as close as she could to the dancer and the sage. The nomad was not about to question Roy's orders: he had a plan, and it would explain itself here shortly.

I've been dreaming for so long... ... To find a meaning, to understand... • ◄AKIHI► • ————————————
"Now, Akihi!"
He gave a slight nod before closing his eyes, focusing all his strength on increasing the size of the wind gusts. They expanded and swirled quickly around himself, Roy, Sue, Ninian, and Joshua, creating a shield of magical wind between themselves and the bandits. It was tall enough to be seen from a distance.
Akihi trembled, his legs wobbling underneath him, threatening to give out. He was weakening quickly and already the strength of the wind was wavering. It would strengthen and weaken and strengthen and weaken, to the point where the changes were almost predictable. He exhaled heavily and willed himself not to collapse. Giving up now was not an option.
He would give everything he has to ensure their safety.

They were safe. For now.
Akihi's wind spell would buy them some time. There wasn't much time though, seeing how exhausted the mage was becoming. He did use a spell that was beyond his ability, so it was to be expected. They could now move onto the second part of the plan...but first things first.
He stuck the SoS into the sand, then grabbed the hilt of the Steel Blade that was sticking out of his shoulder with his right hand. He then slowly raised his left hand up to guard of the sword, a pained look on his face. After a few grunts and several moments of pulling on the sword, Roy finally pulled the blade out of his body. The bloodied sword dropped down in front of him, and his right hand went up to the wound after he had pulled the broken armor off of him. His tunic was already soaked, stained red with his blood around the area where he was stabbed. His left arm hung limp next to him, rivers of red snaking their way down his arm. Darko looked up at his master with a concerned look, but Roy shook his head. He had to bear the pain for now.
"The wind right now is protecting us, but it's also doing something else to help." He gestured around him with his head. They would see that the tornado was drawing in sand. Beyond the rushing sounds of wind, they could hear grunts from the bandits. It seemed that the sucking force of the tornado was trying to draw them in, and they were trying hard to resist.
"The second part of my plan is to use the wind and sand to our advantage. There's plenty of sand here, but we have a limited amount of wind and time. Akihi's spell isn't going to hold out for long. What we could try is to have Akihi push the wind outward, rushing it through the bandits. They'll get hurt by the sand, and they'll be blinded. It'll be easy picking from there." he told them.
He sheathed the SoS and drew the rapier. He could use it for a while, but there had to be someone left alive of the bandits so he could use the Rune Sword to heal his wounds.
"Whenever you're ready, Akihi." he said.
They had...a little more than twenty seconds perhaps before the air would be all gone and they would all suffocate. He couldn't allow that to happen.
