Lilith waited silently for Pomme to check to see if the coast was clear. Mira was leaning on her much heavily than before, her body soaked in a feverish sweat. Lilith had an arm wrapped around her waist to keep her steady and was honestly surprised that the girl hadn't passed out already. 'She will not make it through the night.' Lilith thought to herself as she looked at the color of the girl's skin. Even in the horrible lighting Lilith could tell that she was far too pale.

As soon as Pomme signaled for them to come out Lilith stepped out with Mira at her side, not noticing how Mira was staring at her. It was a good thing that Lilith was keeping her so close because as they were walking Mira finally collapsed. Lilith tightened the arm that was around her waist to keep her from falling over. Sensing that the girl had turned into dead weight and hadn't just tripped Lilith picked her up and set her on her own saddle.
"Just go." Lilith ordered Pomme in a quiet voice before she quickly mounted. She pulled Mira upright and checked to be sure that the girl wasn't going to fall over while they road before she squeezed the horse's side to get her to walk. Lilith had no time to concern herself with which person Mira was going to ride with. They could switch later on if they really had to. Right now they need to leave. Lilith knew that the moment those people entered the house that they would be hot on their trail. And there was no way that she was letting herself be caught. Not after surviving this far.

'Watch me rebuild an army and take back what you have taken from me Prince Gidel,' she thought pridefully as a scowl cast over her features. 'The war shall never be over until you and your army are out of my country.'

Take my hand

(Eh. Need interaction, man. Interaction.XD)

Mira dreamed of many things. First and foremost was of her family. Her brothers and sisters. Especially of her mother and father. She dreamed that it was night time and her parents were tucking the lot of them into bed. "Mama, will we ever be able to visit the capital?" Mira asked her mother. Her mother sighed and sat down on the bed. "I'd love to tell you yes, but you know that's not in our capabilities. We're poor and only rich people get to travel that far." Her mother patted her daughter on her head, "That's all the more reason why you need to marry a wealthy man, my little Destiny. If you marry a lord, who knows. You might even get to see Princess Lilith someday. Dream well." Her mother kissed her and faded.

Mira's dreams shifted to more memories. Her days helping out on the farm. Other days of her trying to help her sisters sew, though, she was never good at it. Her mind drifted to every pleasant memory she had. Ever flowing like a slow river. Then, the flow picked up pace and turned to the rapids. The flames of her burning home re-sketched itself into her eyes. She re-watched as her family was murdered in her mind. Then, like the falls, her flight from her dead parents with two of her sisters. And like the landing, their eventual murders.

The memory river continued itself in multiple flows. Mira was intrigued to find that she was oddly emotionally unattached to such a viewing of pleasant and horrible memories.

Abruptly, they ended as Mira awoke to the swaying of a horse. She was covered in a s**t of sweat, but she could feel it cooling upon her skin. Her fever must of broke during her sleep. Her arm still hurt, but she felt she could ignore it at least for a short while. Groggy she lifted her head to see around her. Charlotte was behind her, holding the reigns to the horse they were riding. Pomme was just ahead of them, leading the way. After spotting the two she wanted to know the location of most, Mira did not bother wasting energy looking around. She may have felt better, but her energy was low. Not to mention really, really hungry.

"Charlotte," Mira paused to make sure she heard, "I'm hungry."

Pomme had not noticed that Mira was in such a bad shape or she would have lifted herself the young adolescent on her horse instead of leaving the task to Lilith. In both reality and their fake familial situation, she should be the one taking care of Mira, for Lilith was the Princess or Pomme was the older sister.
Once again Lilith acted as if Pomme was nothing, ordering her to go...so Pomme went. She was tired. If only Serenice was there. She missed the vampire. As a friend and as an ally...

Pomme was leading the way, pushing their horses as fast as they could manage with an unconscious rider. They would slow down later. For the moment she wanted to use the storm to hide their flee and they needed to put as much distance as they could between the house and themselves. She remembered the kid who died in their arms and shivered. She glanced at Lilith and Mira often.

The short woman was using a path in the woods, less conspicuous than using the roads which were probably monitored but also less rapid. For despite the fact that they started fast, they soon had to slow down in order not to break their necks nor the one of their horses.

Roots and branches were on the way but at least when the rain started to pour they had some shelter. From under the trees it felt as if it were night. It was dark and gloomy, even gloomier with the rain. She slowed her horse down to let Lilith and Mira caught up. Luckily they had wool capes in the horses' saddle bags and some food too. Pomme took Lilith's out and wrapped it around the shoulders of the Princess, sheltering Mira at the same time. She put her own on her back.

"Here Mira. Chew on that for the moment." she gave the child a small piece of smoked meat, they would have to be careful with rationing, but Mira needed strength.
"We cannot stop now. We'll find shelter and rest later..."
She looked at Lilith.
"You alright Charlotte?" She gave a wiry smile.
"Mira can ride with me anytime..." she offered.

It wasn't easy riding with someone who was completely limp and not tied down to a saddle. Lilith fixed this a little by using only one hand to hold onto the reins and the other to keep Mira up. Had she not been a princess who actively participated on the battlefield and was used to holding heavy weight for long periods of time she would've surely had to pass Mira on to Pomme.

Mira herself was forever restless in her sleep. She was muttering to herself and she wouldn't stop sweating and shivering. That was a comfort to Lilith, however, that never ending movement. It meant that the girl wasn't dead. Yet at least.

Hours passed by and the horses that they rode were faithfully keeping up the pace even though they had to be tired. It was at this that Mira stopped moving and Lilith cast a glance down at what might be a corpse in her arms. She'd remained unsure until Mira twitched again in her sleep, signaling that she wasn't dead. A small while later Pomme slowed her pace down until she walking her horse at Lilith's side. At this moment Lilith heard her fake name. She looked down at the girl and the first request that she made was one for food.

"Wait a little." Lilith replied softly as Pomme pulled some wool capes out and set one on her shoulders. "Thank you Annick," she replied with a small nod of the head, pausing before answering the next question. After pondering for a few moments Lilith nodded and tied her reins to the saddle before passing Mira over to Pomme. "Lets keep on going. But we will need to rest the horses soon." She looked up at the tree branches that were protecting them from the rain she could hear. She grabbed the hood of her wool cape and pulled it over her head, silently thankful for the extra bit of warmth.

((Samhailien is Back! 'Tis me, SilithDark, though... not. biggrin Just a different account. ))

Samhailien flew along following the main road, but slowed when she spotted a bit of movement on the road. Slowing into a shallow dive, she spotted the shadowy figures of a few Mei'Q soldiers. They marched with a purpose, one man on a horse behind, obviously the man in charge. Her eyes to the north, Samhailien sped up, easily getting ahead of the small host of men. Hastily searching for the hidden path that Serenice had told her to take, she found the slightly overgrown path, and landed at the start, her eyes adjusting easily to the darkness. Serenice hadn't been kidding when she said a matter of hours, by now, the time was even shorter.

As her claws alighted on the ground, she shifted back to her regular form, pulling her staff out of her pocket and putting it back to it's original length. Tapping it on the ground twice she moved along the path at a speed four times that of a normal run, though she didn't exert more energy then if she were walking. Soon enough she came upon the small house from which she caught the scent of Pomme, Lilith and... a third, fourth, and the scent of blood mixed with a fifth. Sam quickly found the hidden door out of which the girls had exited, probably only an hour ago. They were on horses, but that would not be a big enough distance, the Mei'Q would catch up faster then they could run, especially if they didn't know they were being pursued.

Taking off once again, she left the house as she'd found it, never setting foot inside. She knew they were gone, and it wouldn't make a difference either way. The trees flashed passed her at blinding speeds, her eyes flashing along the ground, grinding her teeth. They had not covered their tracks at all. They were moving quickly, but it would not be enough. Any meager tracker would be able to easily follow their tracks, and the Mei'Q following them were no amateurs. Samhailien moved faster, quickly coming upon the trio. The stench of the horses' breath on the wind was hard to miss, the labored breathing of the unknown girl tearing her heart in two, she was a healer, and anyone in pain tore her apart.

"Psst! Princess, Pomme. It's me, Samhailien." Her voice carried easily on the wind, and she waited until they had stopped before she approached the horses so as to not spook either of them. "Dismount. Your position has been compromised. There is a small host of Mei'Q heading this way as we speak and you were not careful in hiding your tracks they will lead them directly to you."

She paused, allowing them to take in her words.

((Quite simple to fix really...))

((Great to have you back. ^^

I'm just going to assume that they started riding again after Lilith passed Mira to Pomme. xD Also, very very tired. Forgive me if this post makes no sense.))

Occasionally a tiny droplet of water would fall from the trees and hit Lilith. She was actually a little annoyed at the fact that the tree branches were blocking the rain. Rain would erode their tracks much faster and make it harder for whoever was following them to continue to track them. And at the moment any little thing to get in their pursuers way would help immensely.

Then, out of nowhere, a voice from the wind tickled at her ears. She listened intently to the words before pulling on the reins of her horse and saying,
"whoa!" The horse came to an abrupt stop and Lilith turned towards the woman who was her brother's caretaker. She glanced around the elf for a moment, simultaneously dismayed and pleased that the sickly young boy was absent. More so pleased. Having him be there meant that he was not out of harm's way as she wished for him to be. If he were lucky he would be out of the country, although Lilith would have no idea until she was able to speak to the elf privately.

"I'm afraid that you have us horribly mistaken my lady. What- I mean, who are you? M-my lady," Lilith stammered to Samhailien as she pulled her cape back to reveal her face, pretending to be startled by Samhailien's bizarre appearance. She bowed as best as she could while on a horse saddle, very, very carefully studying the figure in front of her for a second time to be sure that it was really her advisor. She was in absolutely no mood for tricks. "Is the princess alive? Do you know her majesty Princess Lilith? But if you're looking then... well I doubt the princess would be out here. If anyone were to spot her she'd be mobbed on the spot. Safer no one knows where she is, I'd think, my lady." Lilith added, hoping that Samhailien would catch onto her fairly obvious hint as she cast a quick glance down the road. Were the Mei'q Valuk really so hot on their trail? Lilith had known that they would be able to track them because of Mira's bleeding but she'd still been hoping that they would have gotten far enough ahead. She returned her eyes to Samhailien as quickly as she'd looked away. The mere fact that she'd taken her eyes off of the woman meant that Lilith knew that this was her advisor. No amount of spells would have been able to fool Lilith's eyes and now that she'd studied her she knew that this was the real Samhailien. As an added caution she held her hand up to her chest and made a signal with her hand to tell Samhailien that she was hiding. Lilith had different codes for all of the people who served directly underneath her, ranging from hand signals to sentences or words to be used in conversation. Only those whom Lilith was closest to would know these, including Samhailien. Anyone who was not within this tight circle likely wouldn't notice them at all.

Falconer waved at the rabbit.

"Hello Mr. Bunny".

The small furry creature bounded over to him and bowed his head.

"Hello Falconer how are you doing today?"

"Pretty good...the world's a bit blurry though...as though I've been in stasis for several months and only now am returning to the world of the conscious due to the actions of others..."

"Ah...but Falconer, thats only because your dying from malnutrition and disease!"

"Heh...silly rabbit, I can't die from that!"

"No, you are most definitely dying. I think it would have to do with the rapid change to such the poor lifestyle you are currently living."

"But I'm a mage-knight in the royal army...my status is generally higher than most..."

Nicholas blinked.

"s**t. The war"

The rabbit nodded.

"See, I told you."

"Well what do I do now?"

"Wait it out I suppose. Sooner or later someone will come by to either rescue you, take you to your execution or pick up your dead, rotting and disease blighted body. Sadly you'll have to do this alone. We hallucinogenic bunnies are in high demand these days."

"Okay then. Bye bye."

"See you later Falconer."

The rabbit disappeared in a swirl of colours and Falconer looked around his jail.

"He he...things are spinning!"

--

Hidoi flinched as light hit his eyes. What a strange and unwelcoming feeling he thought to himself. Staring down at the map before him that his brother had been studying mere moments ago, Hidoi frowned as he tried to remember the battle strategies in his head.

By the Gods, he thought to himself. Its as if for several months, two key divisions of our army had disappeared off the face of the earth, throwing the entire war effort into a state of non-action, and now they have decided to return. Truly, these are amazing times.

Hidoi cleared his throat, before moving forward to map, starting to speak as he did so.

"We've scoured the country side as best we can looking for the Princess. The army is spread thin in this effort to do so, but we cannot risk such an important figure disappearing on us. The public of course is assuming the Princess is dead, but already rumours are starting about the possibility of her survival. Hidoi voice lowered to a growl at the end of that statement, before returning to a normal pitch.

"We've checked the throne room for potential exit points. We believe we may have found the route she took to escape the castle, but of course its already been sealed off. Whoever was responsible for getting the Princess out did their job well. It'll be weeks before we clear the rubble, and by then no doubt the Princess will be far, far away..."

"We are of course assuming she won't return to her kingdom. But based on what we've seen of her over these past few years, I think it can be safe to assume she will return. The Princess is fiercely loyal to her country, and it isn't in her nature to simply abandon it like this. She was forced into leaving, and it'll take Hell itself to keep her out of here. My plan would be withdraw the troops from the search. We need them here, protecting the city, making sure she can't come back without the force of an army at least. And even then, who would help her? We are now in possession of one of the most fortified cities in the world, lead by the most powerful army in the world. It would be nigh impossible for the Princess to breach the city."

Hidoi's tone changed to a more darker one.

"As for our guest...the prisoner displays none of the tact or wisdom I had expected from a man of his status. He is an imbecile, simply enough, he spends all his energy on irritating myself and the guards. During his last torture session, he song a love ballad he had constructed for guard in charge. I honestly believe we should move the execution date forward, to tomorrow. There is simply no reason to keep him alive for much longer.

--Meanwhile--

"And I'm...too sexy for Valuk. Too sexy for Valuk. I like roast duck"

Falconer, in his deranged ill state began making up his own lyrics and realised with a start that he was quite hungry.

"If I had a bit of food...a bit of energy...I could heal myself of this sickness...till then..."

He inhaled, before belting out with a voice so loud it startled the guards on duty.

"AND I WAS LIKE...BABY~BABY~BABY OH! LIKE BABY~BABY~BABY NO! THOUGHT YOU'D ALWAYS BE MINE...MINE!"

Pomme had taken the poor child in her arms, positioning her in front of her to protect her from the rain with her body and cape. She felt bad that they had to travel so fast in the state of the child. Yet she would have no doubt if she had to leave her dying on the side of the road for the sake of the Princess. Nothing else mattered but to have Lilith safe and sound.

The red hair woman hushed her horse to trot again and they were soon on the road again. They had been riding for a while, fighting the icy rain when a voice came to their ears. Pomme was so startled that she almost dropped Mira. A knife had already appeared by her hand whereas Sam had not even finished her sentence. The short woman recognized immediately the strange woman in front of them, yet she entered the Princess's game.

"Yeah Milady, me sister is right, better for no one to know where thee Princess is."

As she spoke though, she had dismounted. She looked at the trail and noticed how their horses hoofs had left easily followable tracks in the muddy path. The woman was hesitating. They should free their horses forward, hoping to lead the guards in the wrong direction and then walk to their destination, but with Mira in such a weak state?! Pomme was happy to see a known face and a question was burning her lips: was Serenice still alive? Was her friend still there? But that was nor the time, nor the place to ask.

Pomme gently helped Mira down and pulling her horse with them, she hid in the bushes with the Princess and Samhailien. She whispered at Lilith's ears.
"Should we free the horses and hope to lead them amiss?"
She wished once again she were Serenice who would have taken the decision without even caring to consult the Princess.

Serenice had watched the strange woman disapear in the skies. The Royal Family still had a few dedicated followers but they were spreading thin. She had heard not even minutes ago from the blacksmith that two well-known captains had been killed without even a trial, their heads now greeting commoners at the south gates of the capital. She clenched her fist. She would not let that happened. She would protect the Princess, she would live to see her Queen of her Kingdom.

"Enough time lost..." she thought.

The vampire smiled. The shadows of the night would soon be spreading and she would be able to put her plan into motion. She hated her idea but she had not much choice. With slow steps she head back to Mark's house. She had to change before heading to the Fat Pig Tavern. The truth was, after what had happened, she did not want to go back there. She did not want to face Bert whose innocent daughter she had killed to quench her thirst. But she had not much choice.

The vampire made it to the man's house with her leather pouches filled with stuff.

When Serenice entered his house, Mark jumped at his habit, yet he did not speak up this time. The man just rose an eyebrow.

"Thank you Mark." She pointed at the man's clothes, then paused.
"I'll need your help tonight at the Fat Pig Tavern."
The sky was taking the colors of the night. Reds and purples were fighting with the dark blues of the nocturnal clouds.

Mark seemed to be hesitating then he nodded in silence.

The vampire disappeared when she came back in the kitchen, she was dressed in ... prostitute clothes. Her air was still as arrogant as ever, yet if Serenice was ever seen being embarrassed that was the time.

Mark bit his lips then chuckled a bit. "I can see you have no experience with that kind of thing." he said almost professionally. "If you allow me..."

To Serenice's surprise Mark arranged part of her garments, making comments here and there to explain why and how and especially to hide his own embarrassment.

He had found the vampire scary and dangerous, he had never thought she could actually look attractive.

They were ready and they left the house. For the first time Serenice was not 100% comfortable. Playing the role of an attractive seductive woman was all but her forte... She sighed, checking one last time as they walked that she had what she needed in her bag. She had been careful not to take any weapon but for the finely chiseled knife holding her dark hair in an almost sophisticated hairdo.

They reached the Fat Pig Tavern and Mark grabbed Serenice by the waist. "You'll be perfect." he mused as he pushed the door.

Serenice found that he was enjoying himself far more than she wanted, but nothing was showing on her face. As they passed the door, she put on a stunning enticing smile and her hips seemed to be flying right and left as she walked by Mark.

A Bert with shadows under her eyes arrived. She was trying to forget her daughter by working as much as she could. Yet the tavern owner could not help but chuckle at Mark.
"Now Mark, that's a first! Congratulations!!"

"Maaaaaaaaaaaaaark!" a drunk voice rang from a corner. "You have to share!" The man whistled. "Hello pretty!"

Mark grinned at Bert. "The usual please and same for the Lady." He waved at the drunk but had no intention of sharing Serenice with anyone but whom she would choose. Mark was not stupid and he had a good idea of whom the vampire had in mind.

Serenice bowed deeply had the drunk man but with a swing of the hips sat by Mark, wrapping her arm around his neck and whispering in his ears as if she was totally taken by him. What she really said was "Thank you."
The beers arrived and they drank together, laughing and smiling at each other, teasing as if two lovers.
Serenice wanted to run away. Only one thought was in her mind 'Falconer had to be saved tonight for the sake of the Princess.'

Samhailien blinked once, but caught onto the their game faster then a human could think. Flicking a bit of hair out of her face, she moved towards Pomme, taking the other girl from her arms. "Give her here, I can help her." Her voice was quiet, not carrying in the night air. Holding the girl carefully, not to jostle her, she placed a hand on her forehead, frowning at the heat radiating from her skin. This girls body was hard at work fighting off infection. Looking Mira in the eye she spoke quietly, "Is it alright if I put you to sleep? I promise when you awake you will feel refreshed and healed."

She nodded to Pomme, "Let the horses go, do not be alarmed but I will place a small spell around us to keep us hidden from view." Drawing back into the shadows off the trail, she nodded minutely to the discreet sign that Lilith threw her way. "I am afraid I have mistaken you for the Princess, for you look so much like her. And if I think so, others may as well, it may be best to lie low for awhile. Right now there are soldiers searching this area for the Princess."

((My advice is not to worry about the length. So long as you can get out ten sentences you're fine- and the post you made is just around that number. If you force yourself to make longer posts then you'll strain yourself. And straining yourself is what'll kill your posts the fastest, both length and inspiration wise.

On top of that ALWAYS remember this: It's about quality not quantity. I've read short posts that have been absolutely amazing and very long posts that have been just. Been. Awful. And often times length is unnecessary. Sometimes it only takes a paragraph to tell a story. Or even less. Example, "He could remember this room. The old decorations and little knickknacks that he'd collected with his mother. Even his body remembered. He was walking around the room without even looking at where his feet were going." It's short but it still conveys feelings. Length was not necessary. And if this is a post this could be the character's reaction to the room and then they could make a response to another character. It's a full post but it'd only end up being around ten sentences at most. That little bit I typed up is four sentences.

I don't know how much that helped but if you need anymore help just ask.))

Pomme was aware of who this new person was and thankfully played along with Lilith. Samhailien recognized the signal as well, just as Lilith had expected her to do. Lilith stayed on her horse, still pretending to be wary of the "stranger" that they now had in their midsts. She turned her head for a moment to look at what Pomme was checking. It was true, they were leaving tracks. The mud wasn't damp enough to sink in where the horses had walked. Lilith had been aware that this may have happened during their ride but hadn't turned to check. Even if it were true there was little that they could do aside from continue to ride and hope that the rain came down harder.

Lilith honestly detested this uncertain game that she was having to play. However she was relieved to have another chess piece in her arsenal. Not just any piece, either. This made three, although one was currently useless. But with more than a proper healer here the girl would have a chance of living through her sickness.

When Pomme took Mira off of the saddle Lilith followed but did not actually dismount, holding tightly onto her horse's reins.
'If the Mei'q Valuk soldiers catch up with the horses then they'll either be killed or used in their militia. Be clever and hide, my friends.' She thought as she rubbed the horse's neck and felt the sweat coat her hand. She had faith that they would make it. These horses were trained and would go to where they had been trained to return to when released.

"Wait."She replied to Pomme as she ducked down a little so that she wouldn't be seen from the road. "I'm... flattered." She responded to Samhailien quietly as she dismounted. "And I hope that my lady is not from the Mei'q Valuk, lest we send our horses for nothing. Why should we trust a mysterious vampire such as yourself?" Lilith questioned as she turned to face her advisor, one hand on her hip. "My now departed father used to warn me against following blood sucking shadows into the dark."

((And Lilith knows that Sam is an elf, don't worry. xD She's just acting.))

(I'm going to assume that Samhailien did put Mira to sleep, kays?^_^ If not, I can fix it later.)

Mira nodded to Charlotte even as her stomach objected. She let herself be passed over to Annik smoothly. Riding with her was not as comforting as riding with Charlotte, but she did not complain. They had saved her life, took them with her when they just could have left her behind, and even feed her good food. They made her feel safe and gave her the much needed time to rest. Though, the feelings she received from the two differed slightly. With Charlotte, she felt like an older sister that would hug you and feed you when you were hurt...Then leave you out it the cold. To be honest, it scared Mira just a bit. With Annik, it was like a nice stranger that would hug you and feed you when you were hurt. Then she would leave you in a safer place than before.

Destiny shook herself a little. She did not like how much she was starting to trust and like Charlotte. After all, they could have saved her only to be taking her somewhere to sell her. It is not like she knew how the world worked. She had only heard stories and many of those were not fun. So, to try to take her mind off of the two sisters (Now that she was not feeling as bad, they looked nothing a like except in the way they held themselves.) she watched as the trees went by.

Over a time, Mira noticed that her arm was hurting again. Not as bad as before, but painful none the less. The longer they road on the path, the more they were jolted around, the more it was aching. More than a few times, her stomach stated it's anger. Still, Mira tried hard not to say anything about it.

Then, there was a voice to the side. Mira did not even have time to wonder before she saw a glint flash near her side. Before she could turn to see what it was, it was gone again. Confused, she missed what was said by both parties and only came back to the present when she was let down by Annik.

There Mira was shocked to see she was not handed off to Charlotte, but to a strange looking stranger. So they did save her only to sell her! Mira's eyes grew wide as she watched and felt the stranger's hand on her forehead.
"Is it alright if I put you to sleep? I promise when you awake you will feel refreshed and healed." Terrorized, Mira was about to struggle when she felt the pull of sleep. She tried to fight it, almost sick of all the sleeping she had been doing despite how much she needed it. She was tired, too, of having to sleep and waking up in different places. But her struggles were for nothing as she slipped into a deep and peaceful sleep full of bunnies.

Gidel listened to his brother silently, his body posture that of a man who was in deep thought. He had his arms crossed over his chest and a hand cradling his chin and a finger right beneath his nose. His brother wasn't quite as "acquainted" with the infamous princess as he was but he'd been around long enough to know her rather tenacious nature.

The subject switched, this time to the prisoner that they were fortunate enough to have in their clutches. Gidel sighed and rubbed his trimmed beard as he pushed himself off of the table and turned to face this brother. "A man who lives within his house will be the best know how to set it on fire. That woman is willing to shoot a dog or two if it means reaching her ultimate goal. I wouldn't put it past her to try and rage war against what used to be her own city." He set a hand on the map as his eyes moved down to it. "I agree with your idea to withdraw troops from the search. We'll need to spend man power on ensuring that we can keep the population under control. It would be better to keep the spots that we have as posts and heighten the security. Check every single passerby. We should send out our spies and trackers and have them look for the ex-princess. Wait to withdraw the troops for a few weeks, though. If anything we need it for show and the best time to catch her would be when she was vulnerable, which is right now. Or so I hope."

He pointed to a few spots on the map that he had been suggesting they step up security on before going on to their prisoner. "As for Master Falconer, well... you've had more experiences with him than I have but his performance on the battle field says that he is a very wise man. Perhaps he's just a madman. Madmen have their bizarre forms of intellect, if it can be called that. But I would say that you're right in pushing the execution to tomorrow. This will help to foil any plans that anyone has of saving the man. They may only be rumors but I don't want them coming true. We have come this far and every little thing that we can do to make our position firmer from onward will count. Go ahead and execute whatever other high officials we have tomorrow as well, then. May as well make a party out of it. Men are more compliant when they're executed in groups rather than individually."

Samhailien smiled ruefully to herself. Many who saw her often mixed her with vampires. Apparently Lilith had not forgotten this face either. "I am not a vampire, young one. Have you heard of the 'odd elf' that was one of Princess Lilith's advisers? I am that same elf."

Sam looked down at the sleeping girl in her arms and sighed. She stood and shuffled the girl into a more comfortable position in her arms. "What are your names?" As she spoke, she tapped her staff on the ground, and though nothing changed to the eyes of them, would you be on the outside looking in, however, and you would see nothing. She was bending light to make it appear as if no one was there. They would only see empty space.

Lilith Ishtar Daciana Valdis Gwenevere Ovet

First it comes on quiet creeping slow
Clever words and phrases only stain
I remain so
Lost and buried under
Everything that I need
When all I want is you

"'Odd elf'?" Lilith repeated to herself with a small quirk of the eyebrow. She looked down at Mira and saw that the girl was fast asleep. Good. Even with her sleeping, however, Lilith wasn't going to break her act as Charlotte. Just because the girl wasn't listening didn't mean that others were not.

After a few moments of "thought" she turned to her horse, gently petting the creature on the nose before picking all of her supplies off of the saddle. There were going to need everything that they could get. Pity that the saddle would have to be left behind.
"Charlotte, my lady." She answered as she threw the supplies over her back and started tying them. "The sick girl is Mira."

She turned her horse back towards the road, giving the horse a good rub on the shoulder before smacking its backside. The horse took off down the road with nothing on it but its saddle. She turned to Pomme and gestured for her to do the same before walking to where Samhailien was. She reached out and pinched Mira's cheek (probably harder than she needed to) just to be sure that the girl really was asleep. When she didn't even so much as stir Lilith looked around to give the area a quick check. It seemed as though they were truly alone. Or at least for now.

"Fortunate to see you, Master Samhailien. Let us move to our next destination." Lilith's voice was now back in its usual stoic yet commanding tone. Despite the fact that she had no magical talent to speak of she seemed to know that her advisor had hidden them. She gathered up the front of her dress and started walking, a part of her wishing that she could have had access to her other clothes. This outfit was perfect for blending into crowds well but it was a bit of a nuisance for times like now when she needed to move. "What is the condition of my forces and the capital?" She hoped that Gidel was choking on something, wherever he was. Or even better being stabbed. He and his brother both. "The other is Pomme. She is aware of Serenice."

...I've been here so very long and
Every word is calculated
Never questioned or debated
All these practiced poses
I could wreck it if I had to
But I'm the wreck so what would that do?

The time was passing slowly, too slowly for the vampire. If Serenice was paying attention to her beer consumption, Mark seemed to have forgotten all about their mission.

"You surely are a shy one..." the man chuckled as he wrapped his arm around Serenice's waist and forced her on his laps.

Serenice was furious. She would have punched the man or even kill him if it were not for a mission and she guessed that Mark was very aware of that. Wincing mentally, she giggled shyly but kissed the man's cheek.

"Here that's more like it!" he laughed loudly. "Bert, more beer!"

Bert brought the beers, she cast a side look at Serenice but did not say much.

The Inn was filling up more and more and Serenice was welcoming the loud crowd. At last the one she had been waiting for arrived. The guard seemed tired. Most of the patrons in the tavern did not seem to even notice him and the man found his usual seat against a wall.
The woman played with a louder and louder Mark. Despite her annoyance, she decided to use the man's behavior to her advantage. She waited for the guard to have drunk several beers before standing up and slapping Mark across the face. Hips rolling she turned her back to the stunned man who had no idea what just happened to him. Serenice crossed the room, chasing adventurous hands trying to try to merchandise before paying. She sat in front of the guard, sighed and looked at him straight in the eyes, using some of her race charm to smooth the man's doubts if he had any.
"Is there a man in this room who knows how to treat a lady?" she purred, hating herself.

A smile crept on the guard's lips.
"You could not have found a better one." he answered huskily, taking her hand above the table and bringing it to his lips with a gaze which spoke well of his intention.
He let go of her hand to order a pint of ale for the lady.

Serenice accepted with a gorgeous smile. She had to proceed cautiously for she knew that the guards around a prisoner such as Falconer all knew each other and she could not just replace the man without raising suspicion.
She drank her cup slowly, not that the alcohol had any effect on her but she simply hated the taste. Although the blood of Bert's daughter, the innocent Lizzie, had helped her heal. She had lost so much blood during the Princess's escape that she knew she would soon need another meal to regain her full capability. However with the curfew and the incoming planned execution, she had no time for that.

The vampire shifted her position, coming closer to the guard, all smiles and praise for the man. What a soldier!
In the background she caught words of Mark speaking to another man. For a split second her eyes narrowed. That stupid fool was about to tell the full story!
Serenice bent over to the guard.
"It's quite noisy and crowded here, don't you think?" she whispered, her lips flirting with the man's earlobe.

The guard nodded. It was about time he went anyway. He stood up, wrapping himself around the woman, showing off his trophy.

Serenice hurried towards the exit. Once outside, she took a deep breath. She hoped that her actions of the day had been fruitful or else she would fail. She was about to open her mouth when the guard spoke.

"You're the one?"

Serenice nodded in silence.

"That's a shame." the guard did not seem to have drunk any beer at all.

Serenice had to admit that she was impressed by the man. He looked as if he had just awoken and was fresh and ready for a new day.
"Once my duty accomplished..." she offered.

The man smiled. "I sure hope so."
He paused and stepped towards her.
"You know the rules." without waiting for her answer, he searched her, enjoying checking her out at the same time.
He frowned.
"What's this?"

"Mead." she answered. "Lady Rose said that you, Mister John, and Eric were quite found of it when you visit her."

The guard smirked.
"That's right. You're clean. Let's go."

Serenice followed the man in silence. They reached the castle. The woman noticed that they were controlled several times but that did not matter. She bowed every time, giving a shy gorgeous smile with a little wink when she thought it appropriate and it seemed to work.
At last, after what seemed like ages, they were in front of Falconer's cell.
The guard named Eric was there and so was another guard.

The vampire looked in her clothe bag which brought both guards on their foot. She froze and raised a questioning look at the men.

John burst laughing. "The lady is bringing mead, boys!"
He turned to one of the men. "It seemed that Lady Rose has something for you Eric!"
The other men relaxed and laughed together.

Serenice smiled and put the bottles on the table. Then she sighed as if she was preparing herself for something awful.

John patted her back.
"Don't worry beauty, although he is a traitor, he is not bad looking."

He pushed her forward.
"I'll lock you with him, know when you are done."

Serenice nodded and stepped forward. In her back Eric and the other guard were opening the bottles.

"Don't forget me boys!" called John to the guards.
Then he opened the tiny window in the door to see if Falconer was far enough from the door.
"Hey! Shut up Falconer!" he shook his head. The man seemed mad and was singing again.

John turned to the two guards. "Has he been like this for a while?"
They both nodded.
"If only he sang beautifully..." wined Eric.

John knocked loudly at the door again.
"Falconer, you got some visit, a Lady, so behave..."

The door opened.

Serenice stepped in. She disliked the feeling very much as the door locked behind her.

John spoke from the other side of the door as he closed the window.
"It'll be dark in there but that should make it easier for you lady."

The guards chuckled and John joined them to cheer and drink with them.
Eric was surprised. "How come he get a whore today? Shouldn't it be tomorrow with his last meal?"
John shrugged. "I don't know. I got the order this afternoon that the prisoner was to get his whore tonight. You know Eric, you should stop questioning that would lead you the wrong way."

Eric growled and filled his cup. "Cheers!"
The mead was soon warming up their voices.

Serenice did not mind the darkness at all. She walked straight to Falconer and whispered.
"Falconer, it's me."
