Donovan nodded in agreement on that, "Not unless you're use to it."
He no longer really thought about going between worlds, it was just one of those normal things, which was probably why Aras hadn't acted that differently according to Ulani. With Ulrich though he wasn't so sure, Donovan had never raised a normal growing child (up until a few months ago) how was he supposed to know what it was like?
"She's five...." Donovan replied dryly, "And somewhere in the Southland that is not the capital city."
And he had no idea where, though to be fair, to him she was three, he hadn't really been around for the two sum years she spent traveling between worlds, for the most part.
"As long as it's a little," Ryu murmured, "She's quite active enough without sugar, but that's normal."
Feng giggled, she wondered if Naida didn't mind being called a fish or if she found it as amusing as she did.
"I'm Naida!" the little mer child exclaimed, "What's your name?"
Since she didn't catch that, the only thing she really caught was the screaming part.

Ulani smiled. "So Lin is traveling, just as she dreamed," she murmured. "Then she must be happy. Don't worry about her, Donovan, you'll make yourself old before your time. She'll be well taken care of, I assure you. Who is she traveling with?"
"Knowing Atalya," Ulrich added, "she wouldn't be allowed to go anywhere without sufficient protection."

"As far as I know, Earendil, Tinuviel, Kaito, Shiro and Ura," Donovan replied.
OF course he had no way of knowing that Tinuviel was married now with a child. So he didn't know of what would be a slight change in plans.
"Oh yea... and her new Fluffy Cat, Senka..." Donovan didn't like Lin's cat.

"Well, there you go then," Ulani smiled. "If Earendil and Tinuviel are with her, then Atalya wouldn't have let them go without more than sufficient protection. They'll be fine, don't worry."
Thus far they had been following the path that led to the ranch (and what a path it was now, after seventy years of people walking it all the time), but now Ulrich turned to the right, following after Kanis and Aras, who were quite a ways ahead by now.
"Almost there," he told Donovan with a nod.

Donovan actually was looking at the path as they were walking, not because he was moping but because he wondered when during over a year (for him) since the founding of Haven did the path come into being.
"So how long have the two been living here?" Donovan asked.
Hell, he didn't even know how many years it had been since he had last been here.

Ulani and Ulrich exchanged a glance. "Five years now?" Ulani guessed. "I think it will be five years this autumn. "Their daughter is three years old, so ..."
"Aye, that sounds about right," Ulrich agreed with a nod. "About the same long Tinuviel's been married." The comment was unintentional - he didn't realize that Donovan didn't know about that yet - but it was quite true. Tinuviel had gotten married the same time as Alyse, and their daughters were very close to the same age, too.

Donovan was about to say something when what Ulani said clicked in his brain. He closed his mouth, thought about it and then said.
"Back up the thought train..... Tinuviel is married? To whom?"
Not that he would know the guy but he was sure Lin would know, and if she didn't know yet she would know by the time she got back. While Donovan wasn't as connected to the lives of the Aldrichs as say Elnara herself or Lin, he did like to keep up somewhat.

Ulani chuckled softly. "I had forgotten. Lin is there and would know, but I guess that wouldn't mean that you would. There's a very long story behind it, but since we're here right now suffice it to say his name is Aranel, and they have a daughter, named Regan after my cousin, the previous High Queen."
Timaeus and Alyse's house was a cute little single-floor but sizable cabin-type house. The front door was open, Aras and Kanis having already gone inside, and Ulrich nodded towards it. "Go on," he urged Donovan. "We can tell you about Tinuviel after we've talked with Timaeus."

Donovan didn't have a choice but to agree with that, there were business matters to discuss. He stepped in, Donovan was more use to stepping into people's homes without knocking but only because he lived on the grounds for a long while now.
"Hello?"
Now where did the girls go off to?

"In the back!" Aras's voice rang out.
Ulrich smiled at Donovan. "This way." He led Donovan past the sitting room and down a hallway. On one side there was the kitchen and master bedroom, on the other side, two smaller bedrooms; and at the very end of the hallway was the open door to Timaeus's study, where he, Aras, Kanis and the tall, orange-haired Aerin were all gathered.
"Sh," Kanis put one finger to her lips as Donovan, Ulrich and Ulani entered the room. "They're in the middle of something."
Timaeus was showing Aerin something on a map, detailing to her the location. Her green eyes were serious, fixed on the map he was showing her: but within a moment they had finished, and both of them turned to the others.
"Donovan," Timaeus smiled warmly. "I take it we're going away again?"
Aerin just looked at everyone, silent as she always seemed to be.

Donovan nodded, "If we hurry we might be able to make it before winter really sets in."
He had no will to be snowed in, in the Borderlands, even though he knew that was always a chance. He tilted his head at Aerin wondering what all of that was about. Aerin hadn't really talked during the last hunt he was on and her partner had the gift of talking about everything and nothing at all.
Not many people could keep information to themselves while talking a whole hell of a lot. He looked back at Timaeus.
"So grabbing you on the way out, though I guess that would be you too Aerin."

Timaeus blinked at Donovan. "Uhhhh ... you do realize we're going to need some time to prepare, right?" He tilted his head slightly. "And I'm not going anywhere without talking to my wife first ..."
"If we leave in the morning, we'll be fine," Ulani nodded, stepping forward. "We just wanted to let you know."
"I won't be coming," a soft voice announced.
Everyone turned to Aerin, who had been the one to speak. Her eyes were hard, serious. She was not joking. And for her to speak at all, especially around so many people, it had to be something serious.

Donovan raised a brow, but he had better restraint of his tongue than most would give him credit for. Fortunately the nice thing about the time difference was that anything that was told to him, he would generally remember.
"The personal business stuff right?" it was a rhetorical question.
He never bothered to ask Aerin what this personal business was, and quite frankly it being him he didn't feel like he had the right anyhow. Hell, he had enough secrets himself before he married.
"Will Carathir be going with you?" he decided he probably should know this so he could tell Celeborn."
Unless Aragost already said something...

Aerin blinked slowly at Donovan and looked at him evenly. "It is personal," she said softly, "but in this case it is also for the safety of the valley. I will be going alone, Caranthir can accompany you."
She pulled her cloak tight around her shoulders and slipped past them, and a moment later the sound of the front door closing could be heard.
Timaeus smiled ruefully at Donovan. "I saw a dragon in the mountain this morning when I was out. Rather a large one. She is the Dragon-Killer. A bit abrupt but ... she reallyl does have the well-being of the ranch at heart."
"Besides," Ulrich added, "we've no lack of other fighters to come with us."

Well that was news to him, of course he knew that Aerin had personal things that needed to take care of but he didn't know about the whole dragon killing business. Then again he wasn't use to thinking of dragons as harmful.
"Yea true," Donovan mused, "It's just the first time I've heard what that personal business was."
Pity Lin wasn't here, she would have been interested in that he thought absently. Ah well unless the girl could clone herself there was no way she could everywhere at once.
"Let's go then, I'd like to get everyone introduced and caught up," Donovan of course was referring to Corrah and Armus.
