Here's what I've put together.

Quote:
Following the issue of Order 66, Chancellor Palpatine attempted to seize control of the Republic by eliminating the Jedi, Guardians of the Republic. However, In Lord Vader's assault on the Jedi Temple, the sheer number of Jedi, though under trained, quickly out numbered him and his forces, leading to their demise. Though having quickly lost his new apprentice, Lord Palpatine still had command over the Republic forces. He led a purge of Jedi across the Galaxy, which forced them to flee to planets who opposed the new tyrannical Emperor. After a year, the Jedi were able to reorganise and, along with military support from the rebelious systems, were able to being a succesful counter offensive against the new Empire. Over the next decade, millions of lives were lost as the two factions clashed in truly epic battles. Nonetheless, the Jedi-led Unified Repblic were able to push the Empire's forces all the way back to the Core Systems. It is here where the two met each other with full force. After months of constant, neither side proved the victor, but both had managed expend almost all their military resources. Left with little choice, a weak truce was agreed between the Empire and the Unified Republic, splitting the Galaxy almost directly in two, much Emporer Palpatine's annoyance.

Several years passed since a hault to the conflict, but the Galaxy still suffered. The space around Core Systems, including Coruscant, was littered with the remains of enormous space battles, while the surfaces of these planets were all but abandoned. Civilians feld to the Outer Rim worlds, fearing for their lives should the uneasy truce break. These refugees made these poor worlds extremely over-populated, so almost all lived a life of poverty. Moreover, with the Core Worlds abandoned, any form of Galactic economy completely disintigrated, forcing people to join the military, just to earn enough credits to survive. These massive military forces grew constantly and caused a strain on the Galactic truce, both sides expecting a strike from another. This, in turn, caused them to seek alternate means to protect their territories. An arms race ensued, and billions of credits were invested into techonolgical advancement by both the Empire and the Unified Republic.

Through their elaborate spy network, the Jedi have discovered that the Empire has designed a weapon of unparalled power, but has not yet begun construction of it. Concluding that it will unstoppable once finished, The Unified Republic has launched an invasion of the Imperial planet, Talus, the believed location of the plans for this "superweapon". Though the Jedi plan to destroy all reminants of this technology, to prevent it being used in the future, military leaders of the Unified Republic hope to secure the data for themselves and then liberate the galaxy with their own version of this weapon. As fleet drops out of the hyperspace, staring directly at the Imperial Stardestroyers, the Republic forces ready themselves for battle.

- I've used Cerasi's idea of having the RP based around a single conflict as a means of getting the RP going.
- However, as you can tell, the surrounding plot leaves it wide open to expansion into other systems as the RP grows (as membership).
- As a twist, I've had the Republic be the antagonists this time. Why should the Imperials always take the blame, huh?
- I don't how much a "Cold War" style scenario has been used in Star Wars, but I thought the brief one I used was some what original.
- I've also gone with an alternate timeline based directly of a suggesting from this thread of Palpatine's failed coup. I've forgotten who suggested, so I apologise for that.
- I haven't named the superweapon because I didn't want to use the Death Star or the Suncrusher, so that can always be changed.
- Also, I just picked a random planet as the centre of the invasion.

None of what I have put here is set in stone. Bits can be changed, or, if no one likes it, the whole thing can be scrapped.

Thoughts?

Only issue I see is the death of Vader. Means Palpatine is the last Sith, in theory. Shiteload of Jedi versus one man is kinda... Mean, even for Jedi. Some detail maybe into him maybe finding another Apprentice or even raising Dark Jedi could be beneficial.

Ooh ooh, pick my character xD

I made a character very recently, who's supposed to become a Sith/Dark Jedi apprentice (and grow further, of course) but hasn't gotten there since the guild is dead ^^; I'm not sure if I am allowed to reuse that profile in the revived guild, but, if possible, I'd like to roleplay that very same character.
If I can keep that profile in the new setting, she could be used as an apprentice since she needs a teacher anyway.

Does anyone else here, other than myself, Raven, and Cerasi (got it right again! lol) agree with Sephs general plan? Speak ya minds, people! This is your RP too!!

I'm not usually active(preoccupied with some things - long story short I have a scar from shoulder to hip with seventy staples in it and doctors' visits are constant), but I really like RP's and have some free time now so I'd like to join when this kicks off.

On the lack of Sith issue, Sidious is the type to always, ALWAYS have a Plan B so I think he'd have at least one apprentice lined up, if not a personal army of force sensitives.

I like the Cold War setup with how you can use that to move plot while having it be open enough to allow some freedom for players. Cold Wars also bring up the prospect of a lot of black ops and espionage which is a very fun prospect for some people.

With broken governments you can also have many smaller civil wars on planets that the sides can take advantage of to win over territories, you can use these as sub-plots to extend the game while keeping it interesting. Militias - probably set by permission of a host - can be made for these instances on players who want to start as soldiers but not in the main plot yet, give more play time than piling back stories.

Keeping people interested is the main issue though, it always is.

I hear that, mac. XP Just wish more people would get involved with the plot rebuild instead of pointless arguments like the best/worst jedi/sith.

Well, Dark Jedi of some kind (Under Palpatine's control, of course) are going to be in it, if just for the sake of balance. But you're right Sidal, they do deserve a mention. That's something I obviously overlooked. Perhaps some Jedi during the purge surrendered to the Imperials and succumbed to the Dark Side, as well as the training of Forces Sensitives in Imperial territory could make up the bulk of them? Anyone got a better idea than that? (Please say you do, mine sounds so lame xD)

I hadn't initially planned to have a Sith Apprentice in it straight away, but instead had that as something that was built up to. However, as Razull as accurately pointed out, Sidious would have had a backup plan on some sort in regards to a lack of an apprentice. Further developing on his idea of espionage, perhaps the Sith Apprentice could be more a "lone wolf" who runs tactical missions directly more the Emperor, rather than a power house like Vader was. (I'm thinking sort of like Starkiller with the Dark Side ending to the Force Unleashed, except not so ******** up).

Could be interesting. There could also be some Force Artifact use, such as the Scepter from Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy that Sideous could put to use; maybe he found them in a Republic-funded archeology dig and just "removed" them from record. Maybe he already struck deals with other Jedi besides Anakin to give them power, knowledge, or something else they desire. Jedi are like Vulcans in way; they control their emotions to attain peace, yet sometimes in times of chaos their emotions run rampant and wild. Maybe some Jedi finally said, "F-You Master!" and joined in league with the Empire. BTW Seph, mind if I get your MSN or YIM? Quicker than PMs to just bounce ideas with. I'm always talkin' to people. lol

If it may be of some use... I had plans to make my character a more Assassin-ish Sith rather than the typical ones from movies (Maul, Vader and Sidious) since she's small and agile and a rogue. Think KotOR2-prestige class, or Darth Zannah's build (I read about her just recently ^^).
Nontheless, she'd still need training in the Force and lightsaber unless I'd edit that in my profile, which I'd try to avoid since I like 'growing' my characters.

Your idea may sound 'lame' to you, I don't think there are many more possibilities. Aside from training Force Sensitives, cloning, mass-breeding Force Sensitive and indoctrinating them, there's only succumbing to the Dark Side that remains as a way to bulk them up ^^;

Sidal
I recently read on Wookiepedia that the Sith teachings have known several paths, often changed by the ruling Darth of that period (I think Darth Ruin was one of them?). Perhaps a new or unknown Sith group could show up with the excuse they consider it time to show themselves and act?
Then again... that idea would probably be another obstacle to Sidious... =/

Raven -

It probably would be an obstacle for the Empire as a whole unless these Sith recognize Sidious as the reigning Dark Lord. But that's unlikely if they've been biding time from the sidelines until now, they could acknowledge him for his mastery of the Dark Side but I don't think they'd follow him.

Having a third side may help though, if you make this rogue group unplayable to the RP-ers you can form a common enemy at one point.

Sephiroth -

Not as screwed up? That was sort of the point to the Stalker Starkiller, an apprentice like this would make sense in this setting with the right backstory. There's war and that means there's death and lots of it, a child orphaned from a bloodbath, growing up to be a hollow shell of a being, a monster, and that kind of being is perfect for the spot.

They could be trained around that instead of using their emotions too, they'd feel empty, and Sidious could teach them how to focus that emptiness into a weapon, even make them think what they're doing will stop more like them from being made. A killing machine with self justification is far worse than some assassin.

*watches and listens*

I'll add my input when we're close to a decision
PostPosted: Sun Oct 04, 2009 4:55 pm

No disrespect, but what good is "watching and waiting" when we're still trying to get opinions in general? Why stand at the sidelines and wait for us, when you can join in and build it too? I don't mean just Elladan, but everyone who isn't posting ideas in here! The RP is still in formation, so withholding a largely impacting idea till late in the game or even not speaking at all is only gonna set us back to this point.
Speak up now, while the water is still boiling and toss in your noodles of ideas and help us make an RP we can ALL appreciate! Seph, Cerasi, Moon, Raven, Razull, and myself can't do this all by ourselves, considering there are other people here! We want to know what the masses, including you people reading this in silence, want in an RP.
It could be longer still without great ideas to motivate the masses. Speak your mind, don't hold back. Maybe a different time period would be better? Maybe if Palpatine didn't exist at all and a civil war happened completely on its own? WHO KNOWS! Hell, maybe if the Jedi were the Sith and the Sith were the Gungans, what then?!

The only difference silence makes is the amount of time it takes to make things different. Speak your minds, toss in your arguments, your opinions, your ideas, your thoughts, and make this not just another RP, but a GREAT ONE. For you, me, Elladan, Seph, Yoda, everyone.
