Ok biggrin and also,

I think I'm goning to try to be a combined religion. It seemed to work well enough and I don't feel like I'm doing anything wrong. To see if it would work, the other day I made a circle of stones outside and I sat and meditiated and prayed (to the Christian god) and I asked for power from the elements from his creation. Then I tried to move some energy from a leaf into my friend... but i guess I did something wrong because when we opened our eyes, a plant had sprung up beside us. (weird hunh?) And the really strange thing is, is that it's a sunflower and we don't grow sunflowers, or even have sunflower seeds, for that matter.

So somehow I've reached the conclusion that perhaps there is just a certain powerful force that controls everything and different people worship it different ways. (so technically everyone's right) Is what I did Wiccan? And what allowed me to do it? What do you think?

well what you sounds more like a sign for a "god" like force, as you said it. Sun flowers are supposed to represent the sun and the sun reprsents a or The God, So I would say that is a clear symbol that conbinding your faiths is a good idea, mind that is just the way I take it. Just remember also you don't have to do magic to be wiccan. Wicca is a faith and way of life. I agree I think that there is that one power that every faith views differently. Every one is so different it would not have made sence for the higher ups to only have one religion for such a diverse people. And as the buddist say there is more then one path up the mountain of enlightenment.

My parents already know that I'm interested in Wicca. I'm not really sure about my dad's views are, but my mum has made hers clear. "I do not mind you researching it, but I don't want to you to become Wiccan." She's Christian, you see. This is where the raging battles begin.

I can think for myself, and I don't care what my mum says, but deep down, I want her accceptance and approval of who I want to be. I know I'll never get that. She told me that she never baptised me as anything, because she wants me to pick a religion and decide on my own. How can I do that if she dismisses all my beliefs?

Someone help...

It sounds like your mother is already on the way to accepting you as a wiccan. I mean the fact that she is willing to accept and allow you to research it is pretty open minded. Changing religions (or choosing a faith) isn't something you do on the spur of the moment so maybe your mom is just giving you the time to think. I say the best way to help her ease into this is to share about wicca with her. When the sabbats are near, tell her about the lore and tradition behind them. Invite her to do small things like take a bath with some oils you've prepared or do crafts. I know that at Midsummer, me and my roommate meditated with herbal petitions and burned them together. Even if she is isn't wiccan it was fun and a bonding experiance.
Best of luck!

I have a quick question. What is the best type of wood for your wand to be made of? I'd rather cut my own than buy one that's pre-made.

Oak is good, as well as Ironwood is fantastic... But its hard to find an Ironwood tree, muchless a Ironwood Wand...

If I really concentrate hard on something, everything in the room turns dark purple and white except the object I'm looking at, but as soon as I realize I'm doing that, Everything looks the same again. Any idea what I'm doing?

Something to that effect happens to me all the time. I focus hard on an object, then everything else is just a blur, or gets a bit darker. I'm not sure what it is, though.

Although I realize that wands should be made out of oak, I found my wand on a beach. It's driftwood. There's a handle on it (just the right size for my hand). The wood bends into an 'L' shape for my hand to hold...

It's prefect. I'm currently working on it. *nods*

Good luck in your search!

I've been wondering how to make a besom. I don't have a piece of wood yet for the length of it (I've got a smaller besom from a New Age store in town - it's oak, and it's for my altar and other such things that need clearing that are small). I'd like a full-sized besom, though, for cleaning energy out of my room/house.

I hope that my family decides to go to the beach sometime soon, or something like that. I'd love to be able to find a piece of driftwood for my besom (my wand was also found on the beach).

I looked online for how to make a besom, and I found a website. Making A Besom

It's all fine and dandy, except I have no idea where to get straw or herbs. I was thinking that for the twine I'd use hemp.

Does this sound ok?

Ok, so I have no idea what type of advice I'm asking for here, but please help me out as much as possible.

Well my friend is a strong wiccan, he was offered to take position of summoner at his coven (denied the offer...for good reason) well I was wanting to learn more and he talked to us for hours just teaching me the basic outer crust of wicca (things I already knew basically) well he started to act arrogant and I commented that he had contradicted himself, now him and I have been arguing for quite some time and he threatened to use what he considered 'black magic' on me to make me understand him. Basically, breaking the law of karma. Hearing this just upset me deeply and I don't have any idea how to deal with it or what to tell him.

Help? sweatdrop

Ok, this may be a weird question to ask...but I've been reading a lot about the Paganism and Wiccans, and I'm just curious about the different types.

For example. I know that some of the information I have been reading has referred Wicca into 2 categories: Dark and Light. I realize there is more to Wicca than light and dark, but I also know that there are precautions with every ritual.

Ok, so I picked up another book recently about communicating with the dead. Not that I have tried to or anything, but I was wondering; what protection spells (if any) will help me if I try to communicate with the dead?

Thanks for your advice!

I'm trying to decide wether i should look around for a tutor/mentor for wicca. there isn't really anyone that i know around me that is wiccan, so it would probably have to be someone online. should i ask around for a mentor?

I'm going to study on my own and online. I don't think I want to bother other with quetions I can find the answers to myself. If you feel you need someone to help I guess online, I'm not sure really. I don't know anyone.

sure there are tons of really good teachers, one of my favorite places to go to get answers from people that have been practicing wicca for years is Wolf Path, it is a yahoo group, they are really good shewolf silvershadows is wonderful! They also have a great link list. Study as much as you can on your own, and if you have a question that you need answering, ask! and ask as many people as you can, and you believe what answer feels right for you.

Okay, I'll have to go on yahoo when I get home, thanks Ivy biggrin I do plan to study a lot on my own though.

coolies! 3nodding

It's odd, because I can't usually learn unless someone is teaching me step by step so learning a whole religion on my own is going to be a challenge. That's why I joined The Coven. biggrin
What I advise is to show them your intrest in a positive way. First of all get books on the first basic things you need to learn...Herbs, aroma theapy, stones, Feng Shui, Mythology...just for starters. These shouldn't send up any red flags with your parents.
