Rhian giggled and hugged Lauss a little tighter, before leading him over to the food. "You're smelling the food, Lauss-teacher!" She paused for a moment, then whispered into his earr, "You can eat now, you know. . . . you probably need to, even!" Then she grabbed a carton of sweet potatoe fries and started munching them, avoiding the burgers entirely. Growing up hadn't changed her opinion of the taste of meat in the least.
Ellandra snuggled close to Faolan as they sat on the couch, eating slowly and mostly just watching the two couples interact. She was in a rather quiet mood, but not an unpleasant one.

Lee couldn't remember how long it'd been since she had a hamburger. She was five years old, wasn't she? At any rate, she had no experience with what went on burgers and simply picked one up for herself, not bothering with condiments of any kind. "Er... regular, I guess." She'd never had sweet potato fries and wasn't the type to experiment.
Lauss tilted his head at the smell, nodding at Rhian whisper. He, too, was unsure of the food called "burgers", and simply lifted one and put it in his mouth, chewing for a long while as he let the flavor sit on his toung. "This is very different from cotton candy, Rhi." Food was very nice. Perhaps that was why Lee ate all the time, even when her body no longer needed the nourishment.

Rory sat at the table to eat, nudging a chair out for Lee with his foot. He ate quietly, an almost pensive expression on his face.
Faolan leaned over to Ellandra to give her a playful n** at the neck before resuming eating. "I wis thinkin', wife. I should gae ask around about gettin' some bassinets for th' bairns t'morrow, eh?"

Rhian giggled at Lauss' expression - he made silly faces when he was thinking so hard about food! - and said, "Uh-huh. There's lots of different kinds of food out there, and it all tastes different!" She ate a few fries before turning to Rory, blinking as her antennae flicked unconsciously. "Is something wrong, Mister Rory?"
Ellandra squeaked when Faolan nipped at her, and smacked him lightly - and playfully - before nodded. "That would. . . . most likely be a very good idea, Faolan. It won't be too much longer before the twins get here, after all." She paused a moment and bit her lip. "But will you be up to going?"

Lee sat, eating her burger carefully so that food wouldn't smudge on her face. She hadn't even noticed Rory's demeanor until Rhian pointed it out. Tilting her head, she wondered what or if something was bothering him.
Lauss just stood behind Rhian eating his food, unaware that he should sit or that the ladies around him were a bit worried.

Rory looked up. "Nae, nothin's wrong. I wis just thinkin' is all. Sorry. I'm not used t' talkin' durin' meals."
"I donnae see why I wouldnae be," Faolan answered, stealing some fries from Elle playfully. "I ain't made of spun glass."

Sighing a little, Rhian dragged Lauss to a chair. "Sit down, Lauss-teacher. That's why there's a chair here, silly!"She didn't totally believe Rory's claim that everything was fine, but nevertheless didn't call him on it. It wasn't her place, after all.
Ellandra stuck her tongue out at Faolan. "Not glass, definitely. Maybe twinkie dogs though."

Lauss plopped into the chair, burger still in his hands as his back straightened with perfect posture.
Looking uncomfortably from Rory to Rhian, Lee, too, decided not to press it further. Rory tended to be quiet, it seemed, and even though there was still a small bit of doubt left in her, she left it alone. Working on finishing her burger in silence, she was interrupted as Lauss leaned closer to her, looking at Rory as he whispered loudly, "May I speak to him, Miss Lee?" She normally wanted him to keep quiet, and so he thought it best to ask permission. Lee hesitantly nodded, thinking it would look weird if she refused.
"Mister Rory, you attend the local school, yes?" Lauss hoped that Rory would be able to provide him with study material for his master so he could get her ready to attend school. He had yet to be told that she'd already been working on such things, with Rory taking Lauss' place as tutor.

"Aye, I do," Rory said, looking at the strange boy that was apparently Lee's servant. "W'll hae t' get you settle there to, yeah?" He looked at Lee. "He'll be gaen, too, right? An' I take it tha' th' young miss will be along like Zia, eh, Fao?" He looked back at the man, raising an eyebrow.
"Sure, what's th' fun o' haein' bairns if'n you cannae force them t' partake in th' tedium o' schoolin'?" Faolan laughed, then grinned at Ellandra. "I donnae eat tha' many o' them."

Rhian blinked. "School? Me? But can't I just sudy with Lauss-teacher?" Her eyes were wide and she latched on to Lauss' arm possessively, shooting Faolan and Ellandra the saddest puppy dog eyes she could conjure up - perhaps now that she had a human face, the expression would be mroe effective!
Unfortunately for Rhian, ellandra wasn't looking at her. Instead, she was looking playfully at Faolan and poking him in the belly lightly. "Of course you don't. If you did it would ruin your dancing figure."

Lauss' eyes widened, his whole face perking up with what could only be described as bliss. "I can... attend as well?" He looked at Lee with desperation in his eyes, the same look Rhian was giving Ellandra but with a completely different wish.
Wait, this wasn't what she'd been planning at all. So now Lauss, Rhian, and Zia would be coming along? Sinking into her seat, she hoped they wouldn't hate her for this. "Sure, yeah... If you wanna." Of course Lauss wanted to, she knew that. She smiled awkwardly and shrugged at Rory, acting as casual as she could.
In a fit of joy, Lauss' words stuttered out, "I-I may g-go to school?" His face changed from disbelief to a blissful grin at the thought. "R-Rhi, you must come, too. So much learning, Rhi. So many books." He was basing what school would be like entirely from his imagination, as he'd never actually stepped inside one, and could only picture immense rows of stacked books with professors sitting at desks, diligently helping the well behaved and studious kids huddled around them. It would be beautiful...

Faolan caught Rhian's look. "Sorry, darlin', but I think it might be best if'n you an' Zia started attendin' school, too. There's so much fae you t' know an' me an' Elle cannae always help you learn it. Plus, it puts you someplace fae a few hours so me an' your mama can hae a little private time . . . an' Zia wonnae be botherin' me da."
Rory smiled at Lee. "You still want me t' walk you t' school, though, right?"

Rhian pouted. "But it doesn't sound very interesting . . . She paused for a long moment, before adding, "But I'll go, because Lauss-teacher wants to, and so I won't be in your way. It was a little-known fact that Rhian felt her presence in the Grady family was somewhat of an annoyance - that she was always in the way in some form or another. She didn't let it bother her too much, simply accepting it as the state of affairs, but now and then that little feeling welled up a bit. Now seeed to be one of those times.
Ellandra stayed silent throughout this exchange, though her ees darkened with concern over how Rhian was reacting. This didn't seem quite right . . . but then, it was hard to tell what was going on.

Lauss had stopped eating altogether at this point, simply letting his mind wander. He'd be going to school. He'd have his purpose back. His attention was perked as Rhian agreed to go as well, and he impulsively sprung from his seat and hugged her tight with excitement.
Lee ignored the essentics, biting her lip and smiling back to Rory. "Of course." She imagined Lauss would head off earlier than she would anyway, at least on the first day, before his little bubble popped.
Lauss, his face buried in Rhian's shoulder, looked over toward Faolan. "When may we start, Faolan?" he asked in a muffled voice.

"Well, it be th' weekend. School starts again on Monday. Rory here can prolly catch you up on things better'n me," Faolan said, then looked at Elle. "I burn too many calories t' e'er get fat, me love."
Rory grinned, even though he was blushing a bit. "I'll walk you t' school any day you want me to."
Zia came back in with its dishes and noticed the mood of the room. "What did I miss?"
