"Yeah, the stairs seem to be trapped, but if we walk slowly we'll probably notice it before its a problem, furthermore it seems that there could be a shortcut to the Master's Study somewhere along the way behind a bookcase"

Erron stands and ponders for a moment.....shrugs and starts reciting, while pointing at each possible exit "eenie, meenie, miney, mo: catch a treant by it's toe, if it roars then let it go, eenie meenie miney mo..."

(1,4 = Left 2,5 = middle 3,6 = right)

Erron finishes the recital while pointing at the left entrance. "Well I know its not the most original way to make a decision but at least we won't be stuck here much longer" he said with a grin

Selce nodded in agreement and headed to the start of the left exit. She looked down it. She couldn't see anything odd about it but didn't think it was her place to take the front, she wasn't the best with a quarterstaff, and so she stood to the side. "Anyone brave enough to take the lead?" She questioned mainly toward Erron.

She got a silly grin on her face and looked at their odd group of mismatched individuals. She checked to see if anyone was to badly hurt. She noted an odd metallic smell but dismissed it.

Erron grinned widely and said "Do I have a choice?" while looking down the path, he wondered if this was the same way that last goblin ran...if it was then they'd find out soon enough. "Whenever everyone is ready, everyone keep an eye out for anything strange alright?"

He took one more look at the party, most of the damage from the fight was limited to scrapes, the ogres hadn't considered them a threat until it was too late, if they had all turned on them who knows what the situation would be.

We started off towards the left pathway, walking at an even pace and keeping alert of movements and sounds, during the battle he swore he saw a shadow moving, were they the only ones who had escaped their tormentor?

In the darkness of the hallway, a small light could be seen, daylight was shining in from the ceiling. However, this passage was a fruitless journey. This appears to have been the entrance that the goblins who fought the two ogres from earlier had used, the tunnel has now collapsed due to further fighting on the upper floors. There are two goblin bodies.

The group discovers:
1 Lesser Healing Potion
22 Gold

The party must now return to the circular room and choose again.

"Well at least we don't have to worry about potions as much, and we'll probably be able to spend the night at an inn after all of this is over" Erron mused as they all walked back to the central room before taking the middle path this time.

Prometheus was a bit a hurt from the ogre, but was ok. He felt a bit discouraged that his attacks where not doing much, but he had to dismiss it.

As the group reached a dead end, and retraced their steps to a dead end he said, "Let's try left. The middle seems like the right way to me, and it's always good to scavenge things for items."

As the group began walking down the center passageway, they begin to see wall sconces that bring light to the underground tunnel. Erron, in the front of the party, is unaware (because there are no thieves/clerics detecting traps) of the trip wire that was just torn by his feet. A series of loud clicks are heard and their attention suddenly shifts to the goblin who had fled and died earlier from the fight.

TRAP! The darts begin to launch from the hidden projectile source! Erron attempts to dodge the incoming trap with his honed reflexes!

1-3 Darts deal moderate damage.
4-10 Erron dodges the trap completely.

Result: Through his expert skills and honed mind and body, Erron effectively dodges all the darts that were fired. The trap is now exhausted and the group continues down the hall to the ornate wooden door.

When the group enters, the door opens with a lengthy creak, revealing a well-decorated room that is highly furnished, containing two large bookshelves, a bed and a chest at the foot of the bed.

Selce gasped in surprise when the darts began to fire but quieted down when she noticed Erron was unharmed. "Wow good job, see there was a reason you were first."

Selce joked as they entered the room. She looked to the note, and remembered that there may be a passage in the bookcases. She looked for any particular interesting ones, before she started to pull them all off."Maybe someone else knows where it is?" She asked as she pulled yet another book down.

Erron walks over to the chest at the foot of the bed, knocks on the hardwood cover it and says "Might have something of use inside, but since our friend doesn't seem to enjoy unwanted visitors its probably trapped, Juno would you do the honors?"

He walks over to the bookcases next and browses through the tomes carefully "Perhaps there's something here we can use, I doubt he left his spell book here but there just might be something for any of you to use or something that hints at what he was going to do to us..." He looks at the note in Selce's hand "I wonder if the switch is on the shelves themselves or somewhere else?"

Juno huffs arrogantly at the prospect of being ordered around by a human, but nods and continues anyway. After examining the chest fully, She discovers a Lesser Lightning Bolt trap and disarms it successfully. She attempts to unlock the chest with a wire she had hidden within her leather boots. After a short time, a soft click is heard and the lid creaks open.

"My, my, my... Bless my tarnished soul."

Upon opening the chest the following items are discovered:

1 Scroll of Fireball (Usable by Wizard to teach a new spell)
1 Mace that emanates a faint magical glow (Unidentified)
1 long pile of string that exudes a very powerful magical aura (Unidentified)
223 Gold pieces.

Additionally, Selce the Wizard stumbles across a strange tome, called: "Armaments of the Ages" (See details in OOC thread) and she feels she is absolutely COMPELLED to keep it.

Ronus harumphed at the sight of the mace. He was uncertain as to what magical properties it contained, but he was more than willing to make use of it for now.

With typical dwarven brashness, he took his old mace and chucked it at the bookshelf near Selce before quickly looking back to the chest and picking up the enchanted mace.

"Ach! Now this be more like it!"

Turning around he noticed the glare from the young wizard and something else near her.

"Lass, look! Hah! If ye can't find an entrance, make one!, 'tis what me father always said."

The carelessly thrown weapon had broken through the bookshelf and revealed the hidden stairway behind it!

Erron watched the discarded mace sail into the finely designed bookshelf and continue through it. "I never was much for looking for a hidden switch-book or panel-stone" he admitted as he tossed the Scroll of Fireball to Selce "Hah, becoming a bit of a Lina Inverse aren't we?"

He motioned everyone to step away from the bookshelf as he grabbed the sides of it and shoved it aside revealing the rest of the entrance. "Shall we keep going or should we see where the right path was going to take us?"

Almost in response to the monk's suggestion, another massive explosion occurred upstairs, sending a loud rumble and a massive chunk of the ceiling collapsed in front of the door from which they had entered. Leaving only one route to go: The hidden stairwell.

Erron turned into the path and said with a silly grin "Nevermind, on we go! keep an eye out!"

The group ascends the staircase for what seems like forever, when you can see light at the end of the dark passage. It is dim, but you are certain that it is some form of daylight up ahead. As you reach the top, your eyes witness a massive contingent of goblins, possibly even an entire clan, every one of them armed and focused on one single point.

The room you have arrived in is absolutely massive, the ceiling towers above you with enormous stone archs and well decorated statues of draconic nature. The area is open and well-carved, though your attention is drawn to the same place that the goblins are fixated upon: a great staircase that leads to the outside, currently occupied by one gigantic ogre, a wicked looking elf and your dear captor, Serahk.

The goblins rush up the stairs to their deaths, one after the other attempting to strike down those who were at the top of the staircase. Each one that attempted to reach the wizard was immediately crushed by the ogre chieftain, or cut to ribbons by that strange elf.

There is another entrance that the goblins used to enter the complex, a collapsed section of the walls that reveals daylight. You are fairly certain that this is the entirety of the goblin force.

From on high, you hear:

"You worthless insects! You will suffer! You will all suffer!"

An enormous fireball erupted from the palms of the spellslinger and soared into the crowd of goblins, charring and decimating their numbers, though they still had plenty to spare. He continued to throw devastating spells at the hordes of little beasts before a particularly berserk goblin charged the stairs and managed to actually score a hit on the ogre chieftain, sending him staggering backwards and irritating the mage even further, forcing his eyesight to you. His voice seemed to carry directly to each of you.

"You are more resourceful than I had thought. However, you have expended your usefulness to me. These pitiful creatures will die here along with you. I no longer have need of this place and I grow tired of fighting for it with these lesser beings. Enjoy your tomb."

With hand movements that occurred faster than the eye could perceive, the wizard enacted a powerful spell that began rupturing the ceiling's supports. Serahk then lifted his staff and spun it in an oval movement before slamming it to the ground, opening a portal as he, the ogre chieftain and the strange elf stepped through.

You must escape! The goblins are scrambling all over and are frightened, they will not attack you unless you strike them! You must get to the exit quickly or be crushed within the ruins of this strange place forever!
