We actually only have 7. Upon asking the freshman today that did come who knows who and can contact them to get them there, almost all fo them are not doing band... and something i really like from band camp today that our temporary band director, the choir teacher, said: "Band is more then a sport. Because band actually takes bains."

So yesterday was day oone of full band camp. I have one thing to say:
If we survive band camp, we will be beast.
We have no director as ive said before, so everyone is stepping it up. The choir director is really nice, but she makes us all stand at attention for rificulous amounts of time. Yesterday she had us stand thre for half an hour no stopping. Then after aout a minute break she set us up again for another 20 minutes. That night we stood at attention most of the two hours we were outside. Most of this time is just standing there not doing anything.
But, after the near 2 hours of standing there, she had us do a single drilldown. it took nearly half an hour to get the first person out. And it was her. The only reason most of the kids got out was because our drum major, who was giving off commands, was starting to lose his voice, and half the band thought he said forward when he said backward.
Not to mention, we have worked on it for a day, and our opener already sounds super amazing. And our fight song. And our stands tunes.
While yes, I think i speak for my whole band when i say i cant lift my arms up anymore and its only the second day, I think our band is going to amazing. I love my band.
Tuesday was freshman day, and it got too hot outside for drilldowns like we had planned. So the new vice principal told us we could kick out the basketball team whow as practicing in there so we could go into the air conditioning. Drill downs are epic in cold.

Well band camp was last week for me, and it was easier than the last 2 times I have gone. I am in the high school band and I will be a sophomore this year.
We normally start at 8:30 in the morning on the field (or practice field since my school is creating a new field, but it's slow,) and we will be learning how to march correctly. Monday starts off with Forward and Backwards marching, and Tuesday is treversing (for percussion it would be crab-walking.) Not only that, we would get into groups with however many people and one officer to come up with our own drill. The reason we do this is so we can have a March-Off on Thursday. We practice on Wednesday and the beginning of Thursday. Once we finish, we do the contest and whoever wins, gets to pie the drum-major with whip cream in a pie shell! My group (I am not an officer, that would be next year,) was in 2nd place. Then we go eat lunch, either at the Cafe, or we just walk down to the store and buy something and go back to the band hall. After lunch, we get with are sections, percussion would be in the band hall, and other instruments would be in classrooms throuout the high school building. We get teachers from other bands come in and teach us whatever section we are in. I'm in percussion, so I was in the band hall. This year, we are learning Led Zeppelin songs like Heartbreaker, The Immigrant Song, Stairway To Heaven, and Whole Lotta Love. This part of band camp gets boring, but I put up with it.
After Monday through Thursday, Friday we go to a pool party at a friend's house and just hang out and swim. Friday is the day my band director says "Well, you guys have been working so hard, so go and have fun now!"
Though, we have a schedule for band practices before school begins. They are on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but times had to change. We originally said that we would have rehearsals starting at 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. but it had to change because there was only one field and football was practicing and the volleyball team and to run a mile. So the next practice was 1-3 P.M. Finally we came to a conclusion that Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30 in the morning 'til 10:30 A.M. would be rehearsal times before school starts.
When schools starts, it would be Monday afternoons, 6:30 P.M. to 8:30 P.M. unless we have to share the field again, then I don't know what we are going to do, I would just have to leave that up to my Band Director, Drum-Major, and Officers.
I honestly enjoy being in the marching band because you get to go a lot of places that you've never been before, also you meet new people along the way. I love being able to do something that I never thought I was going to be able to do! ^.^

So tomorrow begins the greatest week on the galaxy. That's right! Band camp begins. I'm so stoked.
This year we're going somewhere new that's closer, cheaper, and looks a lot better than last year's accomodations. It's a huge area with different places like camps, recreational places, other things, and.......a correctional facility. That's right. But it's far from us that they won't know we're there. Anyways...
Tomorrow the rest of us (besides leadership who probally there already) will arrive at 3pm, have sectionals and hour later, then music rehearsal, dinner, eveing field rehearsal, then section olympics. Sounds a bit weird but we might have fun. This is our schedule for Mon-Fri:
6:30-work out (running, stretching, gah!) 7:15-breakfast 8:00-sectionals 9:00-morning field rehearsal 12:00-lunch 1:00-free time (mandatory rest on Wed and Fri) 3:00-music rehearsal 5:00-dinner 6:00-evening field rehearsal 9:30-eveing activity Later-light out
Some of the evening activities are a dance (Wed), skit night (Thurs), and senior memories and awards (Fri). We also have some dress up days like nerd day (Tues), retro day (Wed), and crazy hair day (Thurs). It's gonna be a good week. Definitely ready. Got all the stuff I need:
-water -my alto -music -water -sunscreen -clothes -water -bedding -water -good shoes -water -water -good attitude -did i already mention water?
Hope everyone has a great time and good luck to all.
EDIT: Not a jail...a rehab center. By the way, I had a fun time.
