Tariel stayed suspicious of the little girl calling herself Diana, but followed. She'd lead them to the Queen of this land, she was sure of it. She had a good feeling about it, anyway.

Tari, like the others, was curious about this new place, and she'd never seen anything quite like it. She tried to take in as much as she could of the surroundings. It was a pretty place, and felt peaceful at least. No signs of war, or strife. Everything looked like it flourished here.

I wonder why it fell on our home though...

It wasn't till they were a fair distance from the beach that Tariel fell to her knees, feeling nearly out of breath, but more, feeling her legs hurting. The dry skin was feeling tight and sunburned. They were stiff. She whimpered slightly before returning to her feet. "Please ... how much further. We need to return to the waters."

She was suddenly starting to feel like this might be a trap.

((my apologies, RL got a lil busy, so I wasn't able to respond. I will try to pick up the pace a bit so we can get this event wrapped up quicker.

And I am not ignoring anyone, just trying to get the event closed up. I will be available for individual RP afterwards if anyone would like to. smile ))

Diana turned around to see the Queen in distress. "Oh my." She really hadn't thought about that. It wasn't much longer to the lake. "We are almost to the lake. Please hurry."

She looked to the Queen's court for help. She hoped they were a bit sturdier and could help their Queen the final leg of their journey. It was very important they made it to the lake. She knew they didn't trust her and they didn't want her help. "Please." She begged them.

Nyruna hears the Queen and her court moving to pass the two secluded in the bushes, "Aw Blowfish! I'm sorry, but . . . I should go with them. Please, join us, but, I need to go."

Hoping the other female, strange though she was, would follow, Nyruna hurries to catch up to the back of the group, getting there just after the Queen's collapse.

Nyruna was aware of the discomfort in her strange new legs, but she was able to put it behind her, being accustomed to getting herself in to strange and painful situations. This particular situation was nothing compared to that time she'd gotten caught under some rocks falling into a fissure in the ocean's floor, the pressure against her whole body at that depth almost drove her mad before she'd managed to escape.

Moving quickly to her Queen's side, Nyruna offers her monarch a hand back to her feet. "Queen Tariel, please, let me help you. This place holds a strange beauty, but surely, if you are distressed, their leaders may come to the beach to meet you. They seem a peaceful people, surely they would understand your discomfort in this situation."

Hating herself for suggesting an option that would pull her deeper into the complexities of court, but not not wanting to see her Queen suffer, Nyruna grinds her teeth as she speaks further, "I could continue, should you desire. I am accustomed to odd discomforts from my various explorations, I am not yet overcome by the vagaries of this place. Perhaps I could persuade the Queen of this land to meet with you closer to the water?" Leaning in so she could speak softly enough that her voice wouldn't carry beyond the two of them, "It might be better to negotiate from a position of strength. The longer we are away from the Sea, the harder it is upon us and we should not show them weakness if we can help it when we do not yet know their intentions."

"Tariel!" Immediately, Aeroniel dropped everything she was trying to observe and bent down to help her beloved queen. Her skin was feeling tight and burnt too, and it was beginning to hurt badly, but she refused to let her queen suffer on her watch. She looked up to Diana and glared harshly before looking back down to Tariel, who also had Nyruna at her side.

Aeroniel smiled lightly. It looked like she was right about bringing another intellectual with them after all. Though, just as quickly, the smile disappeared from her face and she was back to trying to make her queen feel better. Where was some water? They were so far away from water now. When would they next see some? How big was this bloody isle that had crushed their home, anyway? Was this whole thing just a dirty plan to destroy their thriving society?

The queen's advisor and best friend narrowed her eyes, glancing over to Diana. "Listen here, 'Diana,'" snarled Aeroniel, refusing to stand up and leave her queen's side but still seeming just as threatening. "This trip has already hurt our Queen enough. Don't you dare come any closer. Get us some water, or I may have to order our hunters and guards to kill you." With a pause, she smirked and further threatened, "They're very skilled, you know. It'll be painful. Very painful."

Tariel took Nyruna's hand as she stood up, trying to hide the pain best she could, to be strong for her people. "What's .... a 'lake'" she asked of Aeroniel, who was also right there beside her. She could tell her court was all in pain from this dry air.

She wasn't sure why she made this decision. She fully feared she'd doomed them all, but her intuition told her to trust this little girl, and the pull she felt to the direction they were going was hard to ignore. "Aeroniel, Nyruna ... we need to keep following her." She knew they'd not be happy with that decision, but she hoped they trusted her. She was praying her intuition wouldn't' be wrong.

Straightening up, taking a deep breath in, she mustered up the strength needed to press on. "If its not far, Diana, let's hurry."

She glanced behind them, and seen many of the pae from the beach had accompanied them. They looked more curious, then anything, so maybe these weren't a hostile people? She noticed the young girl that had stayed close to Aeroniel, the one calling herself Lillison, if she remembered correctly. Such a sweet girl. Maybe there was more to this place than she thought.

Nyruna nods, ready to accept the Queen's decision on this and inwardly impressed at her monarch's resolve. Standing slightly away, so Queen Tariel could stand on her own, regaining her regal poise, Nyruna watches closely. Ready to move to assist Queen Tariel as quickly and subtly as she can manage, Nyruna regrets losing her earlier freedom, but accepts the necessity.

Looking to the strangers around them, Nyruna waits to be lead to their destination, having been absent for most of the conversation, she's not sure who is to lead them or where they are headed.

Diana looked at the adviser as she held up the Queen. "It's not much farther and it is worth it." She was not afraid of these wild naiads. She just knew what needed to be done.

"A lake is a body of water in the middle of land." She thought if she said that they would hurry. Diana pushed the brush back and finally they were on sand once more. Sand around the banks of the lake. "See, here we are! You can go in and feel better." Plus, this is where Diana wanted them to go. "Go on!" She got excited again and forgot all the threats of the naiads.

At the words of the child, 'body of water' Tariel had hope that perhaps they weren't being led to their doom. However, it was still all very odd that this ... rock, with water on it apparently, would fall on top of their home, and there would be someone waiting for them, expecting them. Her brain told her to be cautious, but that's not what she felt inside. She felt oddly at peace among all these strangers. Not quite a feeling she was able to describe nor even convey to her court.

Coming out of the thick grass and upon a beach, before Tariel and the court, and all that had accompanied them, was a very large crystal clear body of water; just as Diana had said. Tari had never seen a lake before, and it was beyond her comprehension that such a thing existed. Not only was it water in the middle of land, but ... it appeared creatures lived in the water.

The searing pain on her skin was too much to bare and the sight of water caused the normally classy Queen to drop her trident and just run for the water. Relief ... relieeeef ....

What happened next, the moment Tariel's toes touched the waters of Tuatha Ri Lake, would be an event never before seen on Telruyna.

---

On any normal day, the waters of the lake are clear and calm. You can see the small stone formation in the center of the lake peeking out from the surface. Most Pae'il don't know this stone formation is the ruins of an old, ancient aquatic castle.

The castle ruins are tall, stretching all the way from the Lake's floor. It was the former home to Alu, Queen of the ancient Naiads ages and ages ago. Some of the decor, worn and weathered, broken by various earth shakes remain, reminders of what life was like in the Lake in ancient times.

There are runes carved into some of the columns. The same runes adorn nearly every old archway. Even the dome-shaped top of the castle that extended above the waters surface, contained a carving of this rune.

---

The moment Tariel's toes touched the water, a golden, shimmering ripple raced out across the water's surface. The water appeared to light up below the surface. Several pulses of light were seen deep beneath the surface of the lake, and started moving towards the ruins of the castle.

The rune atop the dome because to glow brilliantly as the pulsing lights moved towards it.

The whole scene was quick, and marvelous. A display unlike any the island has ever seen. Wonderful magics were now at work as it appeared something in the water had awoken it.

When the Naiad's legs reverted back to her natural tailfin when she was in the water, on her lower back, a rune began to glow. It was the same symbol carved into the stones that made the ancient castle. It did not burn, and she would be completely unaware of its existance, given its location on her body.

If the Pae'il on the beach had sharp eyes, they'd be able to see that bubbles started surfacing around the castle ruins. So many bubbles in fact, one might think the lake had started boiling. The bubbles and the light shielded from view the castle, even to the creatures in the lake that were nearby, they'd not be able to see the ruins.

Kelebek had been fearful for her aquatic kin, but at the same time intensely curious. So when the party starts to move away from the shore, Kelebek dashes her fears and hauls herself up onto the shore.

And watches in horror for a few moments as her tail splits in two.

Nearly retching, Kelebek tries to stand as her kind had done on these foreign appendages. And promptly falls over. Twice. Still, she tries again, and after much eating of sand, she manages to start making her way down the path the landing party had taken.

Once she finds them, she's at the back of the group, so can't see much anyway. She'd attempt to jump to see over some heads, but she fears that she'd never find her footing again if she tried.

Diana watched with awe and happiness as the Queen ran to the water. Next thing that happened made Diana happy. This is one of the things she was waiting for. "Yes!" She said as she made a small squeal.

Diana watched the Queen and the lake with her eyes very wide and her smile even wider. This was so exciting! She couldn't believe her eyes.

What was that body of water in the middle of all of this dry, airy land? Aeroniel would have taken more time to observe it if Tariel hadn't started a mad dash towards the water. Always concerned for her queen moreso than herself, Aeroniel decided to drop her thoughts for the moment and dash after Tariel, mostly wanting to make sure she was safe. ...Though, admittedly, Aeroniel's skin was becoming incredibly dry and was beginning to crack.

When her legs hit the water and became one unified tail again, she let out a sigh of great relief and swam after Tariel. The lake, however, seemed to have a mind of its own. The water seemed to be under the effects of an earthquake, with the water near the surface rippling intensely. The bubbles that were floating towards the surface were multipling from one particular source. And Tariel, her queen Tari...

Her back was glowing.

Baffled, Aeroniel dared to swim closer to Tariel to get a closer look at what was so bright on her usually only bright in personality friend, but she was shortly after blinded by the light out of the corner of her eye. Cringing, the advisor lifted her arms to offer her eyes some sort of shade from the pulsating, blinding light.

Only a quick, panicked shout managed to escape her mouth, "Tariel, I don't like this!"

The Captain had been tense, on alert, for the entire excursion thus far. But even the male fighter was feeling the effects of being out of the water for too long. Much as he was worried about the Queen, obviously, he wasn't going to be much good to her if this condition continued to worsen either.

Still...why weren't his instincts screaming at him of incoming danger? If this were a trap...he'd know it. Wouldn't he? He would have by now, or so he thought. Still, even if the weird little girl thing didn't have ill intent in mind...that didn't mean he had to trust her either. So there.

His grip on his spear remained tight, though his steps grew hesitant, stumbling once in a while over the uneven land. They couldn't last much longer like this. Even if it wasn't a purposeful trap, the Aernyn were in danger if they couldn't get to water soon.

"Your Majesty, I--" he halted in mid-sentence, staring out at the expanse of water that stretched out before them, right in the middle of the land. It was both overwhelmingly inviting...and suspicious. "I'm not sure about...Your Majesty? Queen Tari--!" Growling, furious at himself for not noticing the Queen slipping away from the rest of the party. Already, she was racing towards the water.

So much for caution if it WAS a trap. Still, the bodyguard was only a few strides behind the queen as she darted into the water...and all chaos broke loose. Blinding lights, bubbling, quaking...what was going on?

Was the Queen safe?

Turin's eyes recovering from the initial blinding lights, he couldn't help that they were immediately drawn to the glowing...coming from the Queen's back. ...what the...?

"Your Majesty! Please!" He struggled to raise his voice over the turmoil, wondering if he could even be heard at all at this point, no matter how close he was.

On the beach, perched on the shoreline border, one of the lake's inhabitants had been taking the opportunity today to sunbathe while the weather was nice. Serefina sat, amusing herself by lifting her tail out of the edge of the water where she sat, watching it turn into those odd leg-things, then dropping it back to the water to change back to her tail. How strange. Then again, she was fairly easily amused these days.

Some sort of commotion over near the forest caught her attention, and the strange crew that stumbled out of the foliage was nothing short of shocking. From the lack of wings and general feeling from them, a majority of the party was made up of Naiads. And they'd been out of the water for some time.

Serefina wondered for a moment about who they might be, or where they were that they'd been away from water so long...when the lake seemed to erupt in light, movement, and simply...pure energy. And all when the elaborately adorned woman had stepped in the water.

...the hell was going on?

Raising an eyebrow with some concern, she pulled her tail back onto the beach and out of the water, hugging her legs to her as she watched to see just what events were unfolding before her eyes.

Memphis had followed the others having nothing better to do anyway. She watched what was happening and just stood there. She'd never seen anything like this in happen the lake before. Of course she had moved on to the ocean, but still she doubted it had happened before.

Coral too had followed. She stood by Memphis in just as much awe. It truly had been an odd few weeks.

Kelebek shields her eyes from the brightness, and claps the other hand to her mouth. She'd seen the Queen make a mad dash for the water, which she could totally empathize with. Only a few moments out of water and already Kelebek's feeling sunburned.

Quickly she sends a prayer to the Seven Seas for the safety of their beloved Queen.
