Alida gave him a smile in response, but it was less bright than her previous ones. She couldn't blame him if he didn't like poetry very much... but would he think her odd if she told him? He fit in with this type of group much better than she did, would she be left on the side again?
It made her freeze, unable to decide one way or another what to do, so she sat there and stared at the notebook, hands clasped around each other in her lap. She knew she was being rude, but she just simply couldn't help it...
(( her low self-esteem emerges... ))

He tilted his head to the side, before leaning forward with a grin, resting his elbows on the table and propping his head up with his chin on his palm. "A silver for your thoughts, pretty one?" He asked, smiling cheerfully, tapping a finger lightly on her forehead.
(( xd I love Zuko... <3 *Glomps her little dragon-boy*))

Alida looked up at the finger tapping her on the head, and managed a small smile. She unclenched her hands from her lap, and pulled the paper over.
I'm sorry, I just don't seem to fit in anywhere. she wrote, paused, and then continued, slowly, I don't know anyone who likes what I do... especially not Kinder... and people freak when they find out I'm a demon.
She read it over, glumly, and then pushed it his way so he could read it.

He read it, and just shrugged. "So what if people don't like the same things you do? Makes for more diversity among friends. And I could care less that you're a demon; hell, I'm one." He smiled encouragingly. "Don't let stuff like that get'cha down."

Alida smiled, but it held a note of sadness. You're more accepting than most, Zuko. I've been called horrible names by people I don't even know... which doesn't help when it comes to making friends. And I don't know anything about what most of the other people here like, I'm sure. I'm hopeless! she wrote, and pushed the paper back before draping herself dramatically over the back of the chair, like she was in the throes of despair, one arm over her eyes, the other trailing towards the ground.
She wasn't quite as depressive as she'd made herself out to be, but it certainly wasn't encouraging when people found out you liked something and their usual first reaction was, "Oh. You like that?" before completely ignoring her.

He just shrugged again. "I'm a banished demon too. I can understand why others wouldn't accept you. Hell, if I get anywhere near some kinda church person they start going off and ranting for hours!" He laughed, hoping to lighten up Ali's mood. "And if you don't know what people like, just ask. Ask what music they're intersted in, what books, foods, all the stuff. You'll get to know them, and before you know it you'll be friends." He grinned, poking her from under the table with his toe as she started getting into the dramatic poet likeness.

Alida nodded, understanding what he was saying. And knowing that she wasn't the only one who got picked on did help, some. She smiled at him, nodding.
It was time to try out his advice, then.
Alright, then. Since I know what kind of music you like, what kind of food do you like best? she wrote with silent chuckle.

He grinned broadly, writing back. 'That's one thing that I have no limit on; I'll eat just about anything, as long as it looks edible and doesn't smell nasty or still move.' Zuko laughed softly, pushing the paper back over to her as he bunched his wings a little bit.

Alida nodded, they did have something in common, then! She eyed his wings, and thought about her own, still under the shawl. If he didn't feel bad about showing them off, and his tail, too, then why was she still hiding?
Almost defiantly, she shrugged off the shawl and folded it neatly. Her wings were delicate and black, with long spikes on the bottom.
She pulled the paper her way to write, I like almost everything, too. Except English food... most of it is not something I want to even go near. But even if you like everything, you must have something that you like best of all... like me and chocolate or grapes.

He raised an eyebrow as she dropped the shawl, but smiled anyways. "Yeah, I don't think too many people in this part of town at least care too much. And besides, you look nice with your wings showing." He said with another charming smile, before accepting the pen back. 'Well, I don't believe I've ever had english food. American food, yes, and that stuff pushes some of my limits; especially the mcdonalds kind've stuff. Favorite is probably steak though, cooked medium rare.' He finished writing with another laugh.

Alida lowered her eyes as he commented on her wings, but nodded when she read what he had written. That's how Avery likes his steak, when we have it. I like mine Medium-well... but I don't like steak very much. It's just too much meat. I'm not a vegetarian, though. And I hate McDonalds.

'I hate mcdonalds, it's always covered in grease, which is just nasty.' He made a face, wrinkling his nose. 'Anyways, not sure if I could go vegetarian; I love meat too much!' He laughed, grinning as he passed the paper over.

Alida stuck her tongue out at the mention of grease, and made a face. He was right, it was gross.
I don't think it would be hard to be a vegetarian... but I would break the rules every now and again, I think, for a chicken breast or some ribs. she shrugged negligently as she passed the paper back.
She wondered if he would mind if she got a drink from the snack table... she was getting a little thirsty, and her gaze drifted in the table's direction more and more frequently.

He snorted down a laugh, grinning at her. 'A pretty girl like you? A rule breaker? Ha ha, nonsense!' He passed it back to her, noticing her gaze wander over to the snacks and drinks every now and then. Smiling, he asked "Want a drink? I'll get it, what d'you want?" He smiled charmingly.

Alida sighed. Had she been that obvious?
Do they have punch? If not, I'll have... a coke. she wrote. Thank you, Zuko.
and she smiled at him as she showed him what she wrote.
