Edge grinned, using his speed to easily dodge the dwarf's attacks and jump back once the onslaught was finished. "Actually, didn't I just hit you, old man. Technically, I just did, no?" Edge moved forward instantly before even waiting for a response, running to the side of Klaudnir and swinging the back of his blade down to the back of the dwarf's knees.

He's fast...
The aged dwarf chuckled and uttered an incantation as he leaped upwards evading the attack suddenly, a feat extremely uncommon for dwarves.
Malus... Gortentis... Haro!
As he slammed back into the floor, the ground shook violently, sending ripples through the earth, the shockwaves then broke the ground in all directions, creating a wall of solid rock jutting forth from the floor.
Calling out to the lad, he hid his emotions in his voice,
"Nay, lad, ye touched only air and dust. I need ya ta hit me... Think. The only way you'll get that touch is through using yer mind, not your fightin' skills. I can already tell ye're more talented with weapons than I be, but that's not the point. In battle, anythin' goes, so ta get that hit and get past me enchantments, ye'll have to find a better solution than jes' tryin' ta whack at me!"
Haro!
The massive stone barrier dispersed then and with a battle cry, the dwarf did not draw his weapon but put his full weight behind his shield and charged forward, if he was not stopped in his momentum, he would drive the poor lad six feet into the stone wall.

"Woah!" Delaine grabbed a hold on a rail as she felt the earth shake beneath her. Looking back toward the dwarf and Edge she saw the rock that came from the floor. "Well, that's not something you see everyday." Zhirra said a little sarcastically. She watched as the dwarf made his next move, biting her lip. However, she had not seen a one-on-one battle like this for a while and took a seat, watching.

Sora heard the clash of weapons and peered around the corner to watch the fight as well. He didn't use a weapon so watching others fight with him thoroughly entertained him. He flew over and sat down near Delaine. "I.. am sorry for being rude but... Um... Who is that guy.. oh by the way... I'm sora" He said Sheepishly.

Edge laughed with glee, loving the current spar he was in. As Klaudnir drew closer, Edge readied himself and bent his knees slightly. Edge flipped in the air over Klaudnir's head once he was about a foot away. His head hovered right next to the dwarf's as he rotated in the air, making sure to grin in his direction before they passed and Edge landed on his feet, facing the dwarf. He dashed forward quickly and used his free hand and legs to unleash a barrage of punches and kicks at the dwarf. He had been telling Edge to think, not attack recklessly, but Edge wasn't the kind of guy that stopped and calculated problems in a battle. He sucked at magic and his melee combat didn't seem to work. Edge slowly started to conjure up plans while attacking the dwarf, looking for possible weakness in the man's movements.

Nearly flipping over as the boy leaped over him, he turned with some effort in time to begin a furious dodging session now in progress.
Poor lad, if only he would figure out ta use me own momentum against me... or at the very least the environment that surrounds us.
"Lad, if ye're gonna... be the Heritor...,"he huffed between attacks," then ye'd better be prepared against those..."
His voice stopped for a moment as he grasped his holy symbol around his neck. His eyes closed and the dwarf's body jumped backwards several feet. His eyes opened again, this time letting out a blinding light, courtesy of his god.
"...Who don't fight fair!"
The light from his eyes illuminated the room with such brightness that stung to even look at the floor. Beginning an incantation again, he crouched low.
Malus...

"Ah!" Edge set his arm in front of his eyes, seeing spots and knowing he was going to be temporarily blind. "Ya old b*****d!!" Edge looked at the room in his mind, calculating how far away he was from the dwarf if he hadn't moved, or against the wall. Edge growled as he stood there, thinking of something to do. He removed a throwing knife from his back pouch, hoping that he was correct in his aim. He threw the knife towards the direction the dward had leapt back towards and where his voice was eminating from, hopefully interrupting that little incantation he was attempting to use.

Gortentis... Har-
His bass voice stuttered as the missile weapon struck his shoulder guard, disrupting the spell. Due to the fact that it was not a melee weapon that hit him, the wards ignored the attack and allowed its passage.
With a cursory glance, the dwarf rubbed the point of impact, a fairly small gash in the left pauldron, with his hand and rolled his shoulder blade. He closed his eyes and the otherworldly light faded from the room.
When he opened them again, they were their normal shade of gray. He guffawed a bit, laughing up a storm, surprised that the boy had managed to finally overcome his challenge. He finally caught his breath and called out to him.
"Congratulations lad, ye finally started usin' yer head instead o' jes yer arms 'n legs. Granted, ye threw yer li'l knife at me out o' desperation, but it got the job done. Hehe!"
He grasped his holy symbol again and began casting a different spell.
Vio. Dedichi. Pepto!
A warm orange light flooded the room for only a moment then faded away, taking with it the temporary blindness that had been caused by the earlier attack.
"As I said before, lad, ye beat me. So, Klaudnir Whitebrow, High priest of Murgoth the Clanfather, is now at yer service as both guardian an' advisor. I'll be at yer side ta the end, if ye'll have me."
The dwarf approached him with a toothy smile and an outstretched hand.

Edge stared down at the dwarf as he stretched his hand out for him to shake. Edge had won by pure luck, so he wasn't too happy about that. "We're gonna have to do this again soon, old man." He grinned and firmly gripped the dwarf's hand, shaking it lightly before pulling his hand back. "It's nice to have ya on board, Klaudnir." Edge bowed, seeing as that was his people's custom, then stood erect quickly after. "Thanks for the fun."

Klaudnir smiled then readjusted his armor.
"So, Edge. What do ye intend on doing with the blade, now that yer its chosen wielder? The world is a vast place and the war of the two Empires entangles us all. The Geo Fortress was once a place of great power, I don't suppose ye've found out how ta activate it?"
The dwarf paused for a moment then chuckled and continued.
"Apologies fer all the questions, but one more, who all do you count among your allies?"

Edge lifted his hand, pointing at Zenus with his thumb over his shoulder. "Zenus informed me on how to activate this place, old man." His next question kind of made him think. He hadn't known anyone very long here except for Delaine. She happened to be one of the main reasons he'd been looking for the Holy Sword as well, knowing how much she hated the fighting. "Delaine, you, I suppose, Sora, the centaur, and the elf." Edge set his hands on his hips and lowered his head, unable to think of anymore. "That's about it."

"Hmm... Six of us then. Not much o' an army. As skilled as any of us may be."
The dwarf coughed for a moment and then reached within the folds of his outer garments, withdrawing a wooden pipe. He lit the tobacco and took a deep draw from it, then let out a long sigh, releasing smoke away from the young man.
His brow furrowed for a moment as he turned back to Edge with a very serious tone and said,
"Ye still didn't answer me first question, lad. What do ye intend to do with the power that ye've been granted? Do ye plan on makin' a difference in this world, or do ye intend on takin' advantage of things and only wantin' ta further yourself? There's lots o' good an' bad in the world, ye need ta choose your path wisely."
Klaudnir paused for a moment when he caught sight of two forms sitting in the shadows, they had likely been observing their sparring match earlier.
"Oi! It's aright! C'mon out, I'm assumin' ye two be the ones Edge here was talkin' about?"

Edge's answer came to him quickly, especially since he had everything figured out. "I'm going to stop this war. All the fighting, the slaughter of so many innocents, everything!" He stared Klaudnir in the eyes, showing just how determined he was. "My whole tribe was killed... I haven't even told Delaine that. The Noswald raided my tribe and killed everyone." Edge had lowered his head and looked away as he started talking, for once talking about his people and what had happened. "I was the only survivor because I was out hunting. I also don't want Delaine getting involved with all of this." That's when Klaudnir shouted towards Sora and Delaine. Edge quickly turned around, feeling slightly ashamed and embarassed that Delaine had heard him talk like that.

Standing up Delaine heard of Edge's past. Despite being together for so long she didn't know about the slaughter of his tribe. Stepping forward she extended a hand to the dwarf. "I'm Delaine, nice to meet you." She said politely, giving him a smile. After introductions she turned to Edge. "And you don't want me to get involved with what?" Her expression was serious, on the verge of perhaps glaring at him.

[Sorry for not posting in so long! I’m getting back on track.]
Dalcia was walking toward what she hoped was the sleeping areas. She stopped momentarily when the demon she had accosted earlier approached her. His timid speech was endearing somehow as he asked directions, so she smiled gently at him before speaking softly, “I’m not sure where everything is exactly, but I believe it is down that hall.”
A loud greeting echoed throughout the halls, and Dalcia ignored it. Edge can deal with it, she thought too grumpy to do anything else. Walking into one of the bedrooms, Dalcia tried to settle herself to sleep with no product. From where she lay, Dalcia could everything that was going on in the hall from her prominant ears. When the battle was halfway over, Dalcia pounded her pillow in frustration resigning herself to getting no sleep at all that night.
Dalcia walked into the hall her hair mussed from tossing and turning trying to sleep. She shuffled over to where Sora and Delaine were watching the match, “That idiot,” she hissed to no one in particular, “…can’t even get a moment’s sleep in this place.”
Dalcia watched the rest of the match sleepily from where she was perched her ears and tail drooping in exhaustion. How they could still have energy amazed her slightly, but then again she was too tired to be amazed. Good, they stopped fighting, she thought as she watched them socialize most likely Edge trying to get the Dwarf to join the fight. She perked up slightly when she heard Edge’s past. That was…enlightening.
The dwarf called up to Sora and Delaine. Dalcia was obviously forgotten, but she didn’t mind. Being able to make yourself invisible was a verifiable trait when you lived on your own. She could have used this time to make herself disappear to her bedroom, but she would still probably hear the conversation from where she would lay effectively destroying any hope that she had of sleeping. So, Dalcia also emerged from their ‘hiding’ place looking as if she had just rolled out of bed, which technically she did. Yawning and stretching, she walked over to where Edge and the dwarf were standing. “Edge, how impolite you are for starting a fight with our guest.” Dalcia teasingly admonished before turning to the dwarf, “I am Dalcia. The pleasure is all mine, sir.” She said while sweeping a shallow curtsy. She could tell that this dwarf had much experience in his lifetime, and that deserved respect according to her.
[I won’t be offended if you guys don’t read all that smile ]
