Corporal | Carlson, Alexander
Harvest | Alpha Base

He was at the table, watching the cards be dealt out. Once Alex heard the German being spoken, he instantly reacted to it. He knew many languages, due to being raised around them. His mother was a translator for those that only knew one language that was not English, which was rare to see. But he had been taught many languages, some he couldn't remember, but he sure remembered German, for it scared him for some reason.
"Warum sprichst du in Deutsch?" He spoke it as if it was his first language, Alex even had just the right accent.

Staff Sergeant | Duttenhofer, Bar
Harvest | Alpha Base

He sat back and he laughed as his hand ran through his hair.
"Ha. Mein Freund, Ich sprechen auf Deutsch nicht." He paused.
"Ich benutze, die Sprache des Tötens." Bar's smile grew.
"But it is meant for the battle field. So I'll leave my tongue, for now. And like all of us, I am here to play the game."
Bar pushed himself upright. His large hand, cut and scarred, shot fingers at the table surface in fast succession.

Gunnery Sergeant Meika Faust
Alpha Base

Meika tore herself from her memories and quickly looked at Duttenhofer. A sudden anger boiled through her, but she wasn't entirely sure why.
"Ruhe," she growled. His little joke wasn't something she found funny. Tapping her fingers on her cards nervously, she went back to staring into her coffee mug.

"Someone hit or something already," she mumbled, growing impatient quickly.

>> NAME: Westenra, Keira C. | UNSC NAVY O-4
>> UNSC ARDENT WIND [AW.ACTUAL]

Keira sat in her quarters, the lights dimmed to their lowest setting, listening to an old Irish tune. Though there were no words, the archaic melody spoke of renewal, something Keira needed more than ever. She sat at her desk, tracing circles around the glass before her, once filled with a dark amber liquid: whiskey. Keira rarely drank; she detested the thought. But, today she needed it more than ever. She needed something to get... him... off of her mind.

It didn't help that James was staring right at her, in a picture.

Keira promptly removed the picture from its frame, opened a drawer and stuffed it under a pile of regulation manuals. She will dispose of it properly later. She sighed, leaning back in her chair, just wanting to fall asleep.

"Commander, it's coming to be that time. I've sent out the call for all Marines to muster to the hangar bays. The Pelicans are being prepped at the moment. It's time."

Keira closed her eyes for a moment, trying to draw herself to an unfortunate reality: "Thank you, Lieutenant. I'll be up there in a moment." She got up from her chair, straightening her uniform, then walked out of her quarters, hearing the ever-satisfying click of the automatic lock. Finally, she turned the corner and made the trip back to the bridge.

"I never get a goddamn moment of peace to myself..." she muttered under her breath.

Lance Corporal Jonathan Coup de Grace
Status: Busted.
Gambling in Alpha Base

Jonathan swore under his breath as he hit, and busted. Puffing on the cigar in his mouth, he yawned-even though he had only been awake for two hours...

He then looked at Yuri, and the rest, who were now done eating.
"Go to the barracks, drop your stuff, and meet me back here. Understood?" He said. Yuri nodded, and waved his hand. The rest of the squad.

"Je fait un sandwich, dans Paris..." He said in French, and then waited for the two to continue, so he could once again re-join.

1st Lieutenant Mika Jokinen
UNSC Armored Prayer
Taking care of physical self

Running had always helped him clear his mind, straighten thoughts and come to a conclusion on difficult matters. The mat ran under him, accelerating and decelerating according to his leg-movement. The others training didn't pay too much attention to their CO, and he liked it. No questions, no problems.
He had a quick thought about the two animals he had left behind. They had been nice pets to keep, but taking them to orbit would've been impossible and probably too stressful to the animals. Lieutenant pushed the thoughts away, concentrating on running again. What is lost is lost, looking to past wouldn't gain anything.

Mika was quite pleased to notice that his stamina hadn't diminished from paperwork. He was apparently closing in on to the unit record, as he started to gain a look here and another there. Mika wasn't the strongest of ODSTs by any measure, but he could certainly run.

What about the Armored Prayer, then? It was a nice ship, Mika could imagine it carrying people safely for years to come. Its people were a bit inverted, but maybe that was because he hadn't settled in yet. Almost immediately everyone had went to cryo chambers after departure, which had left Mika almost alone. Baldur, ship's AI, had often been his only companion in the empty hallways.
Mika wouldn't hesitate to cryo himself on longer trips, but the first month had had to be taken for the massive pile of work and adjustment. Probably everyone thought he was a wuss about cryo.

A small notification appeared, announcing that he was closing his optimal limit for the run. Mika decided to ignore it and try for the record. So what if he'd be out of service for a few hours afterwards? He wasn't on the run.

Mika decided to take more contact to the unit he was supposed to lead. For the moment everything had been either announcements, information or disciplinary. If he wanted them to trust him, he would have to come out of the shell a bit. "Distant Leader"-act just didn't work with the lieutenant.

Seargent Jacob Masterson
Harvest firebase
Jacob's squad returned to the POD base. "Gents, go get some grub."
"You're not coming sir?" One of his Marines asked him.
"I'll catch up." He replied. Jacob left for his rack where he donned a blindfold and went through the religous practice of dissasembling, cleaning and reasembleing his rifle. He treated his talent as a gift from God and took upmost care of the tool the Lord made for his destiny. He felt each part through the silk cloth he used for this clerical work. All through the routine he resited his creed under his breath...This is MY rifle. There are many like it but this one is MINE...Without me my rifle is nothing. Without my rifle I am nothing.. . Once his rite was complete He removed the blindfold to see the rifle before him, ready to fire. He stood slinging his rifle and headed for the Mess.
Jacob joined his marines with a hot plate of chow and a steaming coffee, well what paced for coffee for the enlisted men. He saw a group of Marines playing cards in the corner. The Gunnery Srg. with them looked suspiciously stressed. He stood and made his way over. His grunt were a bit confused, they watched as their seargent moved to the Gunny.
"Gunny Faust? Ma'am are you alright? You seem to be exibiting symtoms of PTSD."

Sergeant Kio Liengod
UNSC Armored Prayer
Lifting Weights

Sweat dripped down from Kio Liengod's forehead as he pushed the cylinder away from him, then let it drop back towards him. He was fresh from training, and really wasn't looking forward to fighting. Right now, he was contemplating why he even signed up for ODST, and how soon he was going to die. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed his CO, who was running up a storm. He liked that, it was good to see, much better than some fat guy who sat at the controls and told you what to do through a comm network. His concentration fell back to the weights, he'd lost count of how many he'd done. That's what he got for letting his mind wander, and he restarted to count.

After a few more minutes, he finally called it quits and placed the bar back onto the hooks. He took the towel he'd placed on the ground and gently sucked the moisture from his face. He smiled as he realized his CO was still running. Damn, the guy must be in better shape than I am. He thought with a grin.

Sergeant Jacob Masterson
Harvest Firebase
Mess Hall

The gunny ignored him and hit on her card game. Feeling a bit disgruntled he returned to his squad to finish his meal. After they finished a Leiutenant approach Jacob.
"Sergeant, You and your men are on Recon again."
"s**t, are you serious?"
"I never joke about my work Sergeant."
"Who did we piss off?" Jacob said as he led his men back into the howling storm. On the way out the ODSTs who placed the TELCOMM towers charged in pushing his team against a wall. "What crawled up their asses?" Jacob's PFC asked. "Who cares." Jake said as he went into the storm.

Private Lance Sikes
Status: Preparing Vehicles
Location: Vehicle Depot

Akari looked to see other marines gambling. He sighed at how marines could still play a card game while on a mission. But he didn't care otherwise. Akari then walked away towards the vehicle depot. He noticed a marine working on a warthog as he walked in. The marine seemed to be struggling with something. Akari then walked over to him and asked. "Need help?" asked Akari as he marine turned to look at him. "Yea... I don't know why the engine won't start..." said the marine looking hopeless.

Akari then checked the engine. He noticed that everything was fine with the engine. "Nothing seems to be wrong with the engine." said Akari as he checked the wires. He noticed that a huge amount of the wires were fried. "Was this warthog used in battle once?" asked Akari as he saw the fried wires. "Yea they found it out in the snow and hulled it in..." said the marine. "Well the wires are totally fried. Probably by super heated plasma..." said Akari as he told the marine to get the certain items to repair it. "I'll need some bronze wires and some cords..." said Akari.

The marine nodded and went to go get the items. A few minutes later the marine returned with a bag full of tools. "This is all I got private. It should do some good though." said the marine as he helped Akari repair the wires. Akari was an expert at being a mechanic. He covered the bronze wires with the cord and tied the end of the wires to the other wires. So when the electricity is activated it could reach the engine now. After an hour or so. Akari managed to fix all the wires. Wiping sweat off his face as the marine thanked him. "Thanks man. If it wasn't for you I would of been put on kitchen duty." said the marine as Akari smiled and walked back to the mess hall with the marine.

>> NAME: Hammer, Michael R. | UNSC NAVY O-5
>> UNSC ALPHA BASE [HARVEST]

Hammer sat at the table in the command room with a light thump. "We are going to go to an old forerunner structure discovered here." He was of course talking to the two marines sitting across from him. Major Daniel Edwards and Captain Harald Stone, who looked a little nervous. His head was still, but throw the thin visor of his helmet, Hammer was looking at them both just with his eyes. He hoped Rear-Admiral Hoffman chose the right soldiers for the job. Edwards pointed at the map on the table where they though the structure would be.
"Sir. We go here, and hope to find this forerunner structure. Then what?"
"I suspect sir, we would just excavate the site, and hope to find something interesting." The Captain raised an eyebrow, but his voice a was a little wobbly. Hammer moved his head slightly to indicate he was no looking towards Harald.
"You are right Captain, that is exactly what we are doing."

Hammer announced the orders to the commanding officers. Then made his way out to the vehicle bay through the man corridors and hallways.
As he got to his transport warthog, he saw there was already a driver there, he recognized from back in the Captain Jacob's office. He reached up to the roll cage bar above the passenger seat and grabbed it. As he lifted himself up, he placed his left foot upon the step and his right foot into the warthog floor. He turned his body and sat down.
"Corporal. We got everything we need?"
"Yes sir Commander!" Hammer was handed the command PDA he asked for. He placed in the coordinates of the structure and sent it out with orders to move out.

The warthog made it's way to the exit of the base, it went past hundreds of other warthogs, and got to the lift to the top level. It drove up onto the lift with nine others and the locks clamped on. Slowly at first it went, then it gradually gained speed, by halfway they were going 50 miles per hour. Then it slowed down rapidly until it came to a sudden halt as it jammed into the locks at the top floor.
One by one, the warthogs sped out of the base, up the ramp and out into the cold. More came as time went by, until there was 20, with 8 people on each, including the driver and passenger seat. While the Elephants followed afterward. Just as the last warthog came out, the Commander's warthog went out the north gate.

(Basically people, not everyone is driving a warthog, got it?

Halo Historian/Mike gave me permission.)

Private Lance Sikes
Status: With Delta Squad
Location: North of Firebase
Destination: Forerunner Structure

Akari was sitting with in the back with his squad as the sergeant explained the situation. "Alright Delta! Listen up!" yelled the sergeant to get everyone's attention. "We are ordered to go and excavate a forerunner structure. But it doesn't mean you can let your guard down! Who knows what we could find there! The covenant, or the flood, or maybe the forerunner sentinels! yelled the sergeant. "Remember that were UNSC!" yelled the sergeant as everyone on the warthog cheered. Raising the marines morale is pretty easy thought Akari as he turned to look at the other warthogs. There were probably over a hundred marines thought Akari.

He noticed other marines on the other warthogs cheering too. Suddenly more and more marines started cheering. Everyone's adrenaline raised quickly. The cheer of over a hundred marines was even louder than the wind of blizzard. Everyone is so hyped up since they were doing nothing for several days. Akari was smiling as every kept going. He also started feeling hyped up as he reloaded his MA5C and his M6C Pistol. "Can't wait to kill some marines!" thought Akari as he cheered on with Delta squad.

Corporal Oleksy Lebenov
Location: North of Firebase
Status: Cold

Oleksy sat in the side seat of a hog towards the front of the mass, not really enjoying the lack of a plethora of hogs in front of him breaking up the cold air. Somehow he must have missed the enlistment posters depicting the icy winds smacking the face of a soldier combing a dead planet. He heard some gung ho cheering in from the center of the formation, and couldn't help but at least have a prideful grin underneath his balaclava.

The tech specialist checked his side-arm again, passing the time by making sure it was in working order, before moving on to his MA5C. After a moment, he was interrupted by an update on the visor in upper portion of his vision, Apparently his squad leader designated him for securing the right side when they arrived at the entrance. Basically he was going to be one of twelve meatshields in case something was still around.

The corporal looked at his equipment, thought of what might actually show up at a forerunner installation, and responded in the only reasonable manner, "Lovely...." Oleksy said sarcastically.

1st Lieutenant Mika Jokinen
UNSC Armored Prayer
Close, so close...

Mika had to concentrate already. When on field he could jog onwards for unknown time, but this time he had to run a bit faster than usual, as the computer allowed for nothing else as speed. Mika had to discuss about it with either a technician or Baldur, but now his goal was set clear.

Slowly, but inevitably, the unit record closed in. Mika felt his tuned physique work, a feeling he always enjoyed for some odd reason. He ran, and he kept running.
Finally, a computer rang a simple bell-sound and announced to the gym that unit record had been made. But that wasn't enough for Mika. He knew that ODSTs never let the unit records be something around "oh well, we'll do this now". Nope, they always pushed it to the farthest edge, just to make sure they would be the king of the hill.

Corporal | Carlson, Alexander
Harvest | Heading North

The wheels dug deep at times, making the ride bouncy. Snow was flying in all directions behind the warthog as it drove at about 60 miles per hour over the cold white wasteland. The storm died down, and the clouds become a light gray, the sun was setting and it was urgent they get there before dark.

They went pasted a small crayon, or crater to the right, the warthogs turned slightly away from it. It had slight blue-ish glow coming out of it. Carlson was pondering what it could be. He looked on ahead to see about 10 miles away, a gap in the hills that seemed to square to be natural.
"Sir." He paused a bit. "We must be going the right way, towards that gap?" He took a quick glance at Commander Hammer.
"Yes."
Alex looked on ahead once more and picked up the speed slightly.
